Long Story Short: over $1k of my items were stolen and several of the units in my same section were also broken into with valuables stolen. Poor security. I have still not heard back from management or the insurance company. DO NOT RENT HERE. ---- I started renting a storage unit from Millbrae Self Storage in Nov 2020. In Jan 2021, I left a final bag of belongings in my unit before leaving the state. During this visit, I was not prompted to enter my security code - the gates were all left open. In Spring 2021, I received a phone call from the Manager saying that my unit looked like it had been tampered with and could I come down to verify. I was out of state so my friend went for me and took videos of my unit which showed that several of my boxes had been opened and my belongings were thrown all over the unit. When I finally was able to make it down, I was able to confirm that over $1000+ worth of my things had been stolen. It also looked like EVERY UNIT in my aisle had been broken into (I'm guessing poor camera security in that section + NO security at the gate). I filed a police report as instructed and was told that I'd hear back from Management + Insurance within 8 weeks. It has now been 6 months and I have not heard back from anyone. read more

I actually helped build this place. If any of you ever call me on that i will deny it to your face. Anyway, once upon a time there was a lady named Annie who wanted to build a place in Millbrae so people could store stuff. Thus, Annies Attic was created. Her son played drums and since i am the maestro he opted to let me play guitar in his band. He also got me a job constructing the place and we were allowed in after hours so our band could rehearse in one of the units. We sucked. I got to play in other bands at Annies Attic after that. Some good. Some not so good. Nothing like taking a break from a rocking set of Black Sabbath cover tunes to go outside and be driven mad by the smell of Guitard Chocolate next store. Or maybe it was the drugs? Annies Attic is now Millbrae Station Self Storage. If you want a good, honest place to store your stuff, please give them a call. If you want to have your band rehearse there, you are s**t out of luck. Im sure i screwed the pooch for the rest of you with that one.. read more

I just want to know what units are available! And a price range! And not feel like I am inconveniencing your world, even though you are at work! I have been with this place for 5 years. In the last 15 months, they have lost my payments (yes, multiple payments), charge me late fees and send me harassing calls from their accounting department. After several calls, accompanied by my bank representative on the phone, proof of payment & proof my check was cashed by their business, I STILL had to fight the late fees. After sever months of battling via email and phone, I have yet to receive an apologie nor a follow up. Just received another call, yet again for a late payment and more late fees. Round 2. Taking my business elsewhere. This place is disorganized, lacks customer care and is completely unapologetic for their lack of compitency. In addition, I've been locked out of my unit several times due to a faulty code system, they finally gave me a manager code to use to enter. My entry code has had to be changed minimum, 4 times. I was called to come in and show them my unit because I was accused of having toxic liquid that spilled and damaged another unit. Again, I physically had to show them it was not me, as my unit stores artwork and sails. This was extremely inconvenient because I travel for work for a living. If you need Self storage don't do it here. They are one of the most unprofessional establishments that I have done business with. PS- I don't take the time to write reviews. I was in a real pickle Sunday after firing the movers for complete moving insanity. Me and my wife had our life in boxes on the sidewalk with no help or dolly. She called and they had one available. I rented it with ease and finished our hell move. I returned it a day late and informed I owed for the late return. It turned out it was not in the system and the kind woman waived my charges. I offered to pay and she assured me it was fine. I was not out for any freebies and they saved my ass on short notice. I owe them this positive review. I was honest and she returned the favor when she could have charged me and made money on an undocumented equipment piece. Class! Honest business is hard to find. What a great experience, people and place! I was given a choice of different storage areas and their flexibility was amazing. Even when I found out I needed to double the space, they did everything to accommodate, and give me the best price in the city. The crew there are top notch. I was treated with respect, talked to as an individual and not just another person passing by. There were not hidden charges of any kind and the place was super clean and very accessible. Beyond that, while moving in, my movers never showed up so desk lady and desk guy (sorry for not remembering your names) were so awesome, they called around ,and even though it was the end of the month weekend, they managed to get me two great guys that worked hard and just did everything with a smile. Also rented the u-haul from them so it was an all around great experience. Millbrae station lies to you to move in ! first off the only security cameras on site is only at the gates wherecyou enter and at the elevators None in the upstairs unit at all or in the hallways on the first floor so if you are renting there take a body guard with you as you might get mugged from the homeless people living there ! Emailed a few days before our arrival and Amanda responded in a timely manner. She said we could reserve a unit a no cost so that when we got there they'd know what we were looking for and they could hold it for us. When we got there, Amanda and Peter were both there. Super friendly and helpful. Amanda took us to our unit and showed us around. We went back to the office to sign the agreement and she said the the lock was free. (The lock was in the original package so there can't be a duplicate key somewhere. It happened to us at another facility. The other facility said we needed to buy the lock from them for $25. Exact kind of lock.) She also said that we could use their truck for free on that day. We just had to show our driver's license and proof of insurance. What a deal! Peter even came to check on us when we got back because he thought that we had trouble with our code. The area is clean and they have carts that you can use. Because of their excellent service, we were able to store everything in just one trip. Once you have your unit, hours are 6:00am-9:00pm. Best customer service we've had in a long time. We needed a rental to pick up a bedroom set we got online. We drove to Millbrae, CA from San Francisco, CA. We told the guy behind the counter at Uhaul we needed a rental for a few hours and that we would drop off the rental in SF, where we lived. He said he would check if he had one we could return in SF and told my girlfriend he would charge $55 for the reservation and later we'd be charged a final fee around $100. Then he told her where to sign and initial. "Sign here to deny insurance, initial here, sign here" etc etc. He told her to leave the paperwork in the glove compartment and handed her the keys. Our final total fee was $241 including the $55, for a few hours for a rental we feel was a lot but since our bedroom set was really cheap we were ok about it. We picked up the set drove it home and set it up. Then we dropped off the rental at Uhaul on Bayshore Blvd in San Francisco. When we got there they were closing. The guys told us to park it and leave the keys on the drop off box. The next day i received a call that we were suppose to drop off back in Millbrae and that we would be charged another day. Another $241 is to be charged to our card. Ridiculous! So i guess when the guy in Millbrae told us "hold up let me double check, i should have a rental you can take that can be dropped off in SF" he was lying. Just trying to take our money, make a sale. Makes no sense for us to pick up a rental in SF then drive to Millbrae and then back to SF. Since we get charged more for the miles we drive it and more cause we have to return it with a full gas tank. So thats why we picked up in Millbrae to then drop off in SF. Less $. I will NEVER use Uhaul again or suggest to anyone to use their services!! We are very upset with our experience and upset with both the guy who helped us and the manager. The manager was rude and told us there was nothing they can do, that it was our fault for not reading the contract, and that there was no point in us reaching to anyone else because where ever we called they would tell us the same thing. She never even apologized for our bad experience. We still insisted in getting their complaint departments phone number but they just transferred us. Which was ok i guess. DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND GO SOME WHERE ELSE!! USE ANOTHER COMPANY!! read more

I had a pretty lame experience here........ Firstly they assigned me the wrong passcode ID so when I came after hours with the rented moving truck I could not get into the unit and no one was available to help. secondly I was charged after I got them to cancel my unit due to the incorrect pass key given out, I was billed the following month. I was able to recieve a credit from them from the 2nd month but my initial charges from the initial set up fees I have yet to recieve that credit. They have never answered their phones in person for me. It always rings and goes to an answering machine. I've left about 7 messages and I've gotten call backs about 3 of those times.....still awaiting the initial credit back to my account from 2 months ago...... I don't recommend this place currently.......If I get my credit back I may improve my rating, everyone makes mistakes and I can't hold them in permanant negative light as things can change over time....but the slow refunds, incorrect pass key assignment, inefficient call backs.......these are all areas I would need to see improvement on.... UPDATE: 07-27-2012 I recieved a physical check for the amount of initial deposit they owed me, so I have just imprved my rating some from 2 stars to 3 stars......wish the telephone answering and call backs could improve next...... read more

The people that work there are nice but they jump on you quick if you're late on your monthly payment. I've had my stuff there for 15 years and when I was 2 weeks late on my payment, I got a certified letter warning me they'd sell my stuff at the end of the month and a $35 late fee which is 30% of the rent. Seems extreme to me, especially for a loyal customer. read more

Guy at the front desk tried to cheat me and my fiancé by not applying a discount that uhual promised us. He said that all discounts were already on there if uhual gave us any discount. We told him hold on we will call uhual 800 and see what the deal was. He said regardless he would not be able to apply any discounts at this location because he was unable to. When we called they said that they noted the account and the guy should be able to see the notes. When we mention that to him, he all of sudden was able to find the notes and apply the discount. This place is shady. There were four other guys behind the desk listening in and none of them said a word to him. Use budget next door if you need a moving truck read more

This is about their U-Haul rental svcs. I had two (2) occasions when this Asian staff sabotaged svcs. One time was that when I walked in to sign for the truck reservation, he shoved me a toll-free number to call. Luckily Michael came back later so Michael booked me at the shop. When having returned the truck, I had to wait one hour with another storage customer until this Asian staff came back, This storage customer whispered to me , "He is a maintenance guy. He is not good at U-Haul transactions." Surely this Asian stuff told me to come back tomorrow since he was NOT ABLE TO PROCESS my payment. I told this guy, "I don't want to take your word for it. Why don't you write *Dear Mr. Leong, I am not able to process your payment. Please come back tomorrow.* And don't forget to print your name and sign on it. And I will be out of your hair." He refused to write what he had stated to me. With almost 30 minutes' back and forth, he finally said, "Okay I will do it." When I got home I got a U-Haul customer review question in my email. AND I filled out what I had experienced with Millbrae U-Haul rental. Here is what the manager wrote in response to my statement about the bad experience with the U-Haul truck renting: Excerpt: Ouote I have to say though we have a solid reputation in the industry, at the very least our high ratings with all Uhaul customers in the past is not by accident. If you were to see all of our previous comments I am certain you might agree, hence my sadness at the negativity of your response. With all due respect to you as well, considering the bad experience you say you went through, I was sadly perturbed at your references to our staff as "this Asian maintenance guy," we do not have an "Asian maintenance guy" in our employ at present, nor do we talk of our valued staff members in any such light either. I am presuming though, that seeing as though you did not know his name, that this was the only way you could describe him. I have no idea why the staff member did not introduce himself to you, but will certainly look into that as well. Added to this you mention of '' I do not trust that shop any longer" seemed at the very least a tad harsh in my estimation. We have over 1000 customers at this store alone, and have served over 400 customers for Uhaul this year alone, so in that respect our company would see any completely negative remark such as this, as serious. No doubt, so should our staff. Unquote If a customer had a seriously bad experience, the last thing that s/he wishes to hear is the entity manager's complacent self-justifying self-righteous statement of their SO-CALLED high and mighty services AND vindications of his/her subordinates AND harsh criticism of his/her honest opinion of the svc sabotage AND sabotage attempt received BY HIS SUBORDINATE. I have been to many storages & Millbrae Station Self Storage is as good as it gets! It's conveniently centrally located off Hwy 101 & good price. The place is well lit & gated. What sets this place above & beyond the standard metal units of every storage place is the people that work here. Cindy has been there ever since I got a unit more than 3 yrs ago & her & Eric always take care of me & are very friendly. They always email my Statement to me because I'm so busy & take automatic pmt via credit card so I don't have to remember anything & just show up to get my stuff when I need. Bottom line there are 3 reasons when people get a storage: 1) Service 2) Location 3) Price. This place has all 3. Thanks Cindy & Eric! read more

I jst had my bone marrow biopsy & she wanted me to go to the storage to pay my bill, I even said that my unemployment check will be coming in with in the week. She said if I don't go there right @ this minute they will break the locks & have my things for auction. They should replace her!!!!!! read more
