Came here after a diagnosis from a Ford dealership noted a transmission bearing was failing in my car. The dealership quoted me triple the car's value to repair, which would involve a transmission replacement. Called on a Thursday and talked to Alex, really just hoping to get a better quote, but he said he'd need to see the car and read the serial number of the transmission to give an accurate quote, but that he could take a look the next day if I could get there early. Instead, I scheduled for the next Monday at 9am. I arrived on time, talked with Alex, told him what the dealership said, what I'd noticed while driving, and that I wanted to get a quote. One of his tech comes into the office at that point with an update for another customer's vehicle. Then Alex filled him in on my situation, and after some back and forth suggested we do a diagnostic first, and had the tech start with diagnostics on my transmission. An hour and a half later, the technician was back with results: no issues detected with the transmission via drive test and stethoscope, but he did note my alignment was pretty far off in the front and causing uneven wear on my front tires. Then he took out his phone showed me detailed photos of the tire wear. Obviously off. He then recommended a place nearby for alignments that their customers had reported good experiences with. Then Alex gave me my keys back and said "Have a nice day." No charge. I can only speak from this experience, but comparing it to literally every other auto service business interaction I've had, it HANDILY takes the cake. I got a very no-nonsense, honest and competent vibe from start to finish. Alex and the tech I spoke with (wish I'd gotten his name too, he was great!) listened to me, asked pointed questions, got right to work (at the agreed upon appointment time, which I know is tough for busy shops), took the time to actually show me and talk through their findings, and didn't charge me anything. I almost want one of our vehicles to have a legit transmission issue at this point just so I can spend some money here! Will definitely be sending anyone in my circles here if anything comes up. read more

I took my car there for insurance repairs. The estimate for the repairs was $2700. The insurance company would only pay $800 of that amount. I approved the repair of both the front and rear motor mounts. After picking up my vehicle I noticed an extreme vibration coming from the front end. I thought maybe there was a break in period so I drove it for a couple of days. When nothing changed I brought the vibration to the attention of Alex (manager). They kept the car another day then told me the side mounts needed to be replaced. Keep this in mind. They make no mention in their estimate that those mounts needed replacing. They all of a sudden are the cause of the vibration. Two different mechanics with only seeing and hearing the vibration said it was the motor mounts. After telling them that both the front and rear had just been replaced both said the same thing, cheap mounts were installed. AAMCO has refused to honor their warranty. They want me to pay for other shops to put it in writing that the motor mounts are cheap. The only other shops I will involve is the Better Business Bureau and my local precinct Small Claims court. If you take your car to AAMCO know that they say they use OEM parts when in fact they use the cheapest parts available to maximize profit. read more

I told them it was in there. my truck also had a tuner with a. monitor in it. everything was stolen. the truck was locked and they had the only key. when I contacted corporate for customer support they sent me a message just saying I need to pick up the truck and they will no longer work on it. read more

First I have to say if you're a female don't go to AAMCO on Stassney and don't talk to will , he is a yes-man especially to women and if you don't know anything about cars, he will take advantage of you. I am a first time Volkswagen owner , these German cars are very difficult to work on I took it to another place to have my transmission serviced and luckily they were honest enough to say we can't work on this vehicle you should take it to the volkswagon dealership.. so I checked with Volkswagen and this Covid epidemic actually had them very backed up but I felt like this was a service that couldn't wait I bought this as a new car and I needed to take care of it, AAMCO is a reputably known name.. so I called certain that I had to have an appointment especially during Covid, Will told me that I could drop off the car at noon and they reserve the right to at least three hours to perform the service. So I dropped off the car at noon and he assured me that he would call me in two hours to let me know a quote , and if they could actually service the transmission and how much it would cost, he did not call I had to call him , he assured me they could do it it would be ready in about an hour.. when I had my daughter bring me back up at 3:30 to the dealership my car was in the bay on the ground, it had been 3 1/2 hours and they had done nothing, sitting outside the dealership I called will who proceeded to tell me oh it was going to be another 30 to 45 minutes.. to which I told him I can see my car in the bay that has not been worked on at all.. but I waited patiently in about an hour later after calling him again he said he was done... he wasn't even going to test drive the car but I insisted.. so I paid him over $400 just for a transmission service and left.. A little while later on an unrelated issue I took my car to a mechanic, (luxury auto works), Who showed me a video and informed me that the drain plug was never tightened in my transmission and I was leaking transmission fluid ... I paid the luxury auto Works to redo everything that will said they already did to the tune of another expensive bill.. and I was told by Will that I should've brought the car back to him even with leaking transmission fluid to allow him to fix the problem first!!!! I will never go back toAAMCO and I recommend no one else go there for their shoddy repair service, and especially if you're a female because you will be taken advantage of!!!! I had taken my truck to the dealership and was told that there was nothing wrong with my truck, when I knew for a fact that my transmission was overheating. I decided to get a second opinion and took it to Aamco Transmissions on W. Stassney Lane. I left the truck there since it was near closing but the very next morning Alexander M. the Customer Service Manager called and told me that not only did he find the problem that the dealership missed but he was able to repair it. I am so glad I came here. I got my truck back today and NO OVERHEATING!! and runs like new! Great place, great care, great prices. I used their repair services for an '07 Mazda twice in the past year, all for unrelated issues on my aging car. Typically i'm very skeptical and non-trusting of any auto repair company but they earned my business for both visits. I checked around to multiple shops to confirm price quotes were fair and legit....and they were spot on! No funny business there. Will (GM) is always there manning the phones providing quick updates. The car was ready either on time or ahead of time for both visits. He worked with us on prices as things starting getting financially heavy for us, was able to work in some courtesy items, gave tips to treat things outside of the shop, etc. In the long run we saved about $717 by solving issues intelligently versus tossing money at it. They had my fleet truck for 2 months. For a simple starter relay. They claimed to have fixed it 3 times. 3 times I had take time out of my day, to go pick this vehicle up. And every single time I went, it still wouldn't start. Im not sure they did anything they charged for AC service. Trans flush. Oil change. And free "inspection" service was horrible. Couldn't ever get the guy to answer the phone. He always had some lame excuse. They also claimed to have replaced the battery. The battery was replaced by maxwell ford and was never replaced by Aamco. They had the truck for two months and basically did absolutely nothing. Snake, con, crap service. It is now going on 3 weeks and they have not even gotten to the car! And every time we call them they blow us off and say "they'll get to it." That is a total lie. Found out during a recent inspection that my check engine light was on and we needed the vehicle legal ASAP. Drove straight to AAMCO and spoke to Will. He gave me his professional opinion and a quote. He asked if he was right on the issue if they could go ahead and fix the issue. Not only was he right on the issue, but the quote was also accurate to the dollar amount. Within one visit they diagnosed my issue and repaired it without overcharging me. Well this was disappointing. I brought my car in for an oil change, $32 which isn't bad at all. What was bad was when the mechanic told me that four of my spark plugs and ignition coils needed to be replaced. And that each coil would cost around $200 and each plug would cost $16, and long story short -- my bill was going to be about $1100 if I let them continue to work on my car. A quick google/amazon search and I see that I can buy a six pack of coils for $56. As opposed to the quote I received of $844 for four. And then a quick phone call to my husband to make sure I'm right, since I know nothing about cars, and his reply to me was somewhere along the lines of "leave now, do not let them touch your car anymore, pay for the oil change and walk out the door." So be careful and smart when you come here. They seem like very nice guys, but make sure to do your research. read more

Ladies, you can bring your car here in complete confidence. The gentlemen at Aamco rebuilt my transmission for a fair price and took their time explaining each step of the process. Communication was thorough and respectful every step of the way. A+++ for Paul the Customer Service Manager and his mechanic who came in to discuss the differences between a timing belt and chain with me. Be sure to check out their website for current specials- I found a $100 coupon that saved a small chunk of change off my total bill. They don't just work on transmissions- I'll be back for an oil change soon. Thank goodness I didn't need that timing belt, but they could have changed that too if necessary. They were also supplied with references to reputable shops for other work they don't do (precision alignments, etc). The bathroom was clean amd they had a comfortable waiting area with fitness magazines. Had a terrible experience here. Front office staff was friendly but lied about their mechanics ability to work on a Mercedes Benz. The representative promised a free quote and then held the car for 1-2 weeks, provided no solutions for the electrical work, gave us 100 pages of printed out "Googled" information, and told us we needed to take it somewhere else. Furthermore, they asked my wife and I to pay approximately $130 for the "labor" on this project even though they didn't conduct any work on the vehicle. I was pleased with my timing belt, axle, and power stirring pump repairs. Mark was very easy to work with and wanted to work with me to get my car fixed at a reasonable price, and did a good job on turn around time. There were a couple of minor things that had to be fixed after my initial visit, but he didn't charge me any extra money for it. It's been two weeks since the repairs and my car is running smoothly. I originally came in to get my oil pan replaced because another place stripped my opening and it was trash. Thankfully they paid for it, so I will not mention their name. I Have a Chevy Equinox 2012, I brought my car in and talk to Will, Great guy, my car was weak and was told that i might had to change the engine. Will did an entire diagnosis found that I just needed transmission service. Now my car is running smooth. The Water Pump was leaking, if Will hadn't found out about it I probably had lost my car. He also found other problems that others mechanics couldn't find. The bill was high but he got me the financing deal that help me cover must of the expense. On top of that I had to replace the rotors but he told me that that is easy to do depending how handy I was, so explained to me how so i could save that money which was around another $700. Went to AAMCO because we have an auto care card ( Like a credit card but only for auto repairs). While I've only had my vehicle back for 2 days and the engine work seems to be ok I really hate doing business with AAMCO and wish another Auto company worked with financing. Will, the service writer, was completely unhelpful. He kept my car a month with no updates ever. Every time I called he acted annoyed. I know auto repairs take a while but come the F*** on. You could at least update me. When I asked to be updated personally, he ignored the request and only called my husband. He also pulled a bait and switch with the quote. We told him we would not do the repairs if it was over X amount. He said sure we can work something out. Guess what, Will ignored that request to and charged us more. To long, didn't read: The mechanical work seems to be ok.... ** UPDATE THE CHECK ENGINE IS NOW ON!!***; their customer service is horrendous. I'll avoid AAMCO if possible in the future. The only thing I appreciated that they did was point out an issue un related to my transmission that my car had. Unfortunately I won't go there there again. They probably have some good mechanics.
