I knew I shouldn't ignore it as much as I ignored my tire light (which had been on for the past month.) On Thursday morning, I called multiple garages hoping they had appointments open to take a look at my car. Sadly, most places were completely booked. I had work later that day... I had no time to waste. Thankfully though, calling Northwood resulted in my car being fixed that morning! The sound coming from my car was a minor problem, fixed by removing chunks of snow from under my car! Additionally, The technicians were available to change my oil, the dead bulbs in my lights, and pump my tires! I didn't even need to sell my kidney on the black market to pay for the service! Seriously, this place is excellent! The Master Technician, Dan, was so friendly and explained everything happening with my car. The next time I drive into a snow bank, I'll be returning to Northwood :)

Maybe for an oil change... but honestly, even that might be questionable. My mom, who is 75, came in out of desperation because her car was shaking a lot and the dealership couldn't look at it until the following week. They determined that wheel bearings were the issue, at a cost of $900. My mom agreed to have it done but one wheel bearing was taking too much time, so had one done and decided to leave and get the other done at the dealership. The car was still shaking. She brought it into the dealership, who determined that they damaged all the replaced parts, and that new parts would need to be put in, essentially fixing what Meineke did. They also found that the other wheel bearing was totally fine... and most likely, both were fine. The culprit was just bald spots on tires. Nothing else was wrong with the car. Meineke did pay for the parts, but has yet to refund the service cost or the cost to fix this, which was $1100. So essentially $2000 to have something damaged and then fixed. Meineke also gave her a list of other issues that would need to be fixed. This place was ready to clean her out. Again, the dealership determined literally nothing to be wrong. These guys either have no idea what they're doing, or worse, they do, and they're intentionally scamming people.

I took it to Motivated Auto and not only did they not charge me to look at it, they actually took the time time to fix it correctly at a fraction of what I would have paid at the Land Rover dealership. They friendly honest and very reasonable with their pricing. I have found my go to mechanic shop.

It was. They were made aware on our first visit that we are cash buyers. The sales manager said they do not accept cash . What? How about a check ? Nope. Maybe it's because my wife and I are elderly. Or that we are mixed race. Maybe we're just a little slow. My wife was confused but I realize Grappone Mazda did not want to sell us a Mazda 3 for American dollars. Bob is a friendly trustworthy local guy who works his ass off and has earned my business more than once. I found myself in a bind this past October with my Toyota needing complete brakes (I used the E brake to get it to his shop) front and bake as well as an exhaust pipe Bob found missing & preventing emissions from passing as well as a dozen other things to pass inspection. Needless to say, my budget was limited and time was of the essence due to my work requires travel. Bob did all the brakes, rehabbed the exhaust and took care of the dozen other items on a Saturday afternoon of me delivering it too him. Lastly, Bob and I discussed pricing before he got into everything that needed work and considering the additional exhaust- Bob stayed within 10% of my budget, including inspection. Couldn't be happier with ABS and my 4 runner that runs like a dream now.

The mechanic was working on a car in the garage. He say me stopped and came over to greet me. I told him what was going on. He says I can look at it for free, then give you a fair price and see if you want to do it here. He had an opening because someone else hadn't shown up today. He looked at my car. Took the tires off and told me what was wrong. He let me look at the rotators and I could see how worn-out they were. He gave me a great price for what needed to be done. He also patch a hole in my tire too. I am very happy I pulled into American Brake Service. I feel like I got a fair deal and everyone was super nice. It is great driving away from a mechanic and not feeling ripped off. I would totally use American Break Service again.
