Rip off freaking con artists. A few years ago my wife and I had transmission issues and took our Chevy traverse to this garbage place. The person running the place told us the first thing he was going to do was check to make sure there was no warranty/recalls on the vehicle. We purchased the vehicle used so we thought the only warranty it had was the one provided by the dealer. The next day he called me and said the vehicle was not under warranty so I gave permission to go ahead with the rebuild. About 2 months after we find out the vehicle was indeed under warranty and the Chevy dealer this guy said he called reported to us they never would have told him it wasn't. Stay away!!!! James and the team, at this AAMCO, in Shillington, put on a facade of decency, but they are shysters! Go to Lee Miles. Go anywhere but here! I have had to use this shop, twice. Both times they charged me more than quoted, and kept my car longer than they stated, as well. My car is my livelihood, so they cost me earnings while overcharging me, based on their own quote. My first time, here, was an emergency and the car was towed in. So, I didn't complain. The second time, I drove it in, and could have driven it elsewhere. But, I though they were "experts", so I took another chance. They ordered the wrong part, and didn't get the replacement for SEVEN DAYS. When I complained about the time, and then complained that they charged me $250 more than quoted... James told me I was snarky to him and his team. I think his lies and lack of concern over my loss of business, warranted my "snark". Avoid this shop of charlatans, at all costs! read more

Having unexpected car issues is very stressful, especially when your new to the area and aren't sure who you can trust to take care of your car, so when my car overheated I had it towed to the AAMCO down the street. These guys went above and beyond to get my car taken care of by giving me continuos updates and explain everything in detail. It sustained extra damage from the tow and James took the extra time to help get those damages taken care of by the company/insurance without me even having to be involved. It was a relief to know that I was in good hands. My car was brought back to life in a reasonable time and for an affordable price. The whole AAMCO team did a great job of getting me back in the road quickly and safely. I had no idea this was a one-stop, all-service shop and will be returning in the future and would highly recommend this shop! read more

Told me what was wrong at no charge. The part was under warranty somewhere else so i went back there but appreciate the help they gave me.

Do not go to AAMCO on Lancaster Ave. So we hot our 2015 Nissan Versa Note in June 2016 with 35,000 miles on it. Within a few months the transmission died and luckily we had the factory warranty still so it didn't cost us. Then by this past November 2018 it died on us again...now not having the factory warranty, but we had an extended warranty with Preferred Warranty. Aamco told us they worked well with that warranty company and since that's where we got everything else done normally we went there. Well the warranty company gave the option of getting one of their used transmissions or we can get a new one with aamco. Well James kept strongly pushing us in the direction of a new one because he said the used one was gonna die on us again within a year or so and we would be back here with the same problem. I didn't know anything about getting a transmission or cars at all so I took his advice. So getting the new one, the warranty company was going to pay toward some of it so they handled all that with James. When he gave us the bill of over $3,000 I was panicked but figured that's just what they cost. But that was with the warranty companies help? So we had to pay but I asked James how it could have failed again already and he advised us to write to Nissan and he said he was confident they'd refund us bc they have issues with transmissions. Well, of course Nissan wouldn't help. So I decided for some reason to contact the used car dealer we bought the car from and ask for advice. And since he has a very good relationship with that warranty company he reached out to them to ask how things happened on their end etc because James had been pushing blame on them now. He talked to them and got it on record that they paid one amount for my repair and James was reporting they paid a lesser amount than they did....which leads me to believe James was lying and pocketing that extra cash. And my dealer said even with getting a new transmission, with the amount that the warranty paid I shouldn't have had to pay more than $500 out of pocket and it would have been covered if we got the used. All information that had been withheld from me unknowingly and then he charged me an outrageous amount which we will not be able to pay off for quite some time. Well with all these issues plus the car was having multiple other issues...it was a huge money pit, we decided to trade it in for something reliable despite us still owing on it...it just wasn't worth all this trouble. Fast forward to this past Saturday we take our new car for its first oil change at Seidel Hyundai and we are talking with the guy there......they sold our old Versa and within 1 WEEK of it being sold the new owner came in livid because the brand new transmission we are still paying on FAILED!!! And so Hyundai had to replace it and he said they took out the old one and aamco hadn't even installed it properly. It had a ton of missing bolts and just was very poorly done. I was so annoyed to hear that even though it's not our car anymore, we are still paying for that work done and it wasnt even done properly and failed not even 6 months from getting the new one. So I highly advice no one to go there. James should not be trusted with your car. They scam people for money and are willing to steal and lie. Unacceptable. I just hope that this review can save someone the same trouble we had to go through there. read more

The whole reason I decided to take my car to his location was because I received some coupons in the mail. I sent an email to schedule an appointment. A guy answer my email, but told me I had to call to make an appointment. So I did. I told him my car needed an oil change and new break pads, gave him the year and the model. He told me I could drop the car off at any time. I figured they had some brake pads on stock and motor oil. So I went the next day, The guy told me my car had to stay there for a whole day, because they had to check it, that they had to check the cylinders. I was thinking: "Really? It is just an oil change and break pads". So I just told them to forget about it. So I took it to J & S Auto Repairs of Reading they were done in an hour. read more

On April 4, 2014 I brought my 2004 PT Cruiser to AAMCO for diagnosis and then repair. On May 16, 2014 I picked up my repaired vehicle at a cost to me of $2280.42. I have some serious concerns about the time it took to fix my vehicle and if everything done was actually needed. I expressed my concerns in letters to the store manager and the franchise owner. I received no response from either so I called AAMCO home office and they advised that I write to their customer service department, which I did. No response from them so I wrote to the CEO of AAMCO, and got no response from him. All letters were sent via signature required mail. All letters were signed for. No response from anyone!! Clearly no one at AAMCO cares about my concerns or my business. They got my money. I guess that's all they care about. DON'T DO BUSINESS HERE!!!! I got a Kia Optima hybrid 2011 from Senda Auto sales on N 6st on July 8, 2016. I was nine months pregnant and already had dealt with another car that was givin me issues. Once I got to drive the car I drove it for 3 days and started to notice it was shifting hard, it's hybrid I get it the car will drive different, but I know it was not suppose to do that as hard. I went to Senda on N th 6st to talk to Edwin about what I was experiencing, he said I have to take it to their Sinking Spring location which is where his mechanic was. I unfortunately didn't get to go to the sinking spring location because I was being induced and then I was taking car of my new born. Once I got time to waste on the car I went to the sinking spring location where I spoke to Omar and said I made a appointment for Kia the next week for a diagnostic test since the check engine light wasn't on senda could only do so much. I said I cannot wait I have a new born, he said to go onto Lancaster Ave, there is a Aamco who work well with your extended warranty company which was GWC warranty. I went to take it to Aamco Izzy said it's by appointment so I scheduled an appointment for the next day and rescheduled it for the following two days. I went and waited for the test and decided to take a nap while I could. Still in Aamco about an hour later James said you'll need a new transmission when can you drop it off. I said like the ending of the month, James insisted that was too long so I got an appointment for a Monday, August 15, 2016 which is when I dropped off the car. Izzy said this will take a week just so you know and we cannot release you the car until it is fixed, I said don't worry. A week went by and still didn't have my car, a month went by and they still had my car. Why did they still have my car after a month? Well they couldn't get it to program with the transmission they got from GWC so James suggested I get a manufactured transmission from Kia, the only problem is it cost $1,467. I told them I didn't have any money that I've been taking cabs everywhere because I don't have my car. I managed to get the money and called James back to tell him the card number at first he said it was $1,400 then the total somehow jumped to $1,467. Fast forward the car was taken to Savaga Kia on route 61, the transmission was delivered to Kia and they offered to install it and program it. James said that is his job but kia offered so he said if this will get this anger customer her car back sure. In the middle of it I guess Kia took back their offer to install it. So here we are at 7 weeks without my car, James from Aamco said to Aj from savage Kia, "make sure you put transmission fluid I only put a little because I didn't run the car". Savage Kia is so very confident in their stupid service team because they are educated and attend school, one thing they do not teach them is how to listen. Aj from savage Kia on route 61 started to do a diagnostic test why in the bloody hell are you performing a diagnostic testing if the car was there for programming?! Hello wake up Kia smart service team member, Aj was messing with the car for about 4 to 5 and 1/2 hours he couldn't figure out why it's not programming, when Aj went to pull out the transmission, he drained the fluid and saw only a little came out, Aj put fluid in then tried to program it. Good listening skills Aj that's all you had to do to start with; that small miscommunication cost me two weeks of cabs. I received my shitty car and it was doing the same and worse than it initially went in for. Kia drove it and called Aamco to tell them my car was ready, James called me and I was so excited. James got my car and drove it and called and said it's ready for pick up. I get there sign off; James when on to tell me, once I got to Kia there was a $500 bill and Kelly the wonderful service advisor took care of the bill, Aamco paid for the programming. I got in the car saw that the cut the fabric of my car in the trunk and left marks all over my car of some sort of black fluid, I mean whatever who cares but have some care for the car you're working on it's cloth. After I got the car I left a horrible review on Kia and Aamco because I want not satisfied with neither of their customer service and communication skills. I was reached out by Kelly from Kia to give them a second chance to make it right out of good will. I was told to take off the review I had on google and to go in to drop off my car for fixing and I will be put into a rent. I got into a rental on September 30th and got my car back on October 11th. All for Kia to say they couldn't not fix my car because Aamco didn't put transmission fluid in it. Neither Aamco nor Kia wanted to step up and pay for it. I then called Senda auto sales on 6th on October 12th today is October 24th and I haven't heard back from them. No one wanted to take blame for what they did; these are two major companies and corporate franchises. read more

This company worked on my transmission for a BMW because the dealer, BMW of Reading said they do their transmission work.The computer showed a malfunction and the trans had to be replaced. The bill was over 6000 dollars. Luckily I had an aftermarket warranty. However, they charged me for "bolts" and other things like an alignment and "tierod" but asked I pay for these with $800.00 in cash. They wrote on the original receipt, "Alignment/Tierod but didn't give me a receipt for the cash. The main problem I had was it took them one month to get the correct parts and I had to pay a rental car fee of over $1,000. plus interest for the month. The warranty company said the work could be done in 2 days so they only paid me $75.00. I may take them to court. I would not have rented a car, but I live in Philadelphia and need a car for work. read more

I went to get my power steering pump fixed & a faulty one was put it, second time around these idiot mechanics put it in incorrectly & it broke AGAIN! Third time around wouldn't reimburse me money or get me a rental car to use when it was their fault three times now long story short I'm going to a new car shop & will never be returning to AAMCO EVER AGAIN. PSA: NEVER EVER EVER take your vehicle to AAMCO Transmissions & Auto Repair Shop!!! I left my truck first thing Tuesday morning for multiple repairs that were supposed to take a day & a half. Was called Wednesday around lunch time saying my truck would be done in an hr or so. I show up at 545p & my truck was "just being finished up" but still was doing the screeching sound that was supposed to have been fixed! I refused to take the truck & demand they pay for a rental & have my truck fixed first thing Thursday, they claimed that they were unable to provide me with a rental wanting me to pay out of pocket & wait to be reimbursed. Here is where it gets good, I go pick up the truck at the end of the day Thursday to be informed that my truck still isn't completely fixed & the part wouldn't be in until Monday afternoon. I'm ok with that, I take my truck happy that my other issue the check engine light is now off. Just kidding I drive off & my truck sounds like a damn motorcycle after driving less than 50 miles check engine light is back on! I immediately call, leave a msg & drop off my truck. Guess what the engine codes are from their work & so is the new noise it's making. They promise the vehicle is going to be fixed, what a joke that was. Picked it up yet again Friday at 530p, check engine light was back on at 8p. I drop the truck off again this morning & there are now codes that have never been there & I'm still without a car until God knows when! NEVER AGAIN will I trust any Aamco! I'm going to be sure to tell everyone I know & report them to everyone possible! read more

I went here with high hopes that it wouldn't be another run of the mill take money from people who don't know how to fix their own vehicle auto shop. Wrong. First off they charge $70 for state inspection and emission which is almost double than everyone else in the area including a ford dealership. Next after having my vehicle for just under 3 hours, at closing I'm told that my brakes won't pass inspection and a tie rod needs to be replaced. A quote cannot be given because it is too late in the afternoon. Shouldn't be too hard to price out a few items with labor. They say I have to leave it in the garage overnight otherwise they will have to charge again for re-inspect so I agree. That night I go home price out the parts and get an idea of how much I should be paying(took me 5 minutes). When they finally call me back after being open for an hour the next day I was appalled to find out they wanted 3 times more than it would cost for me to do it myself, so I pickup the car myself and do the repairs. Upon completion of the repairs I realize that the "failing criteria" wasn't even failing at all. My breaks had more than the legal minimum. I called to inform them of my discovery and was met with hostility and argument despite the fact that the pads were in front of me off the vehicle with a ruler. I informed them that I had reported them to penndot to which they defend themselves with "we're a reputable shop" well I don't agree, a reputable shop would've taken the right path perhaps informed someone that the brakes wouldn't make it to next year but were legally within parameters. $390 for my front brakes to be changeD when they weren't legally required to be, i don't think so...think before you go here, if you don't do any work on your own vehicle they will use it to their advantage and make up things that are not true.
