Upon following up on a repair/replacement suggestion after a repair from this location, I found out Aamco employees lied about the issue with my vehicle, charged for repairs, parts, and labor for things that were not replaced. Additionally didn't need to be replaced apparently and was a simple fix, though they made it to be a bigger ordeal to charge more. Do not trust this company or location....the manager really seemed knowledgeable and professional and bragged about his technicians. I first want to thank Ashley, who initially took my phone call and my concerns and collaborated with her management team. Just bought an 03 mustang terminator, has been having issues shifting... Took it in because I was scared something was just not right. They found out it was a faulty clutch cable, and man that thing was shredded! Guy working on my cobra did a wonderful job adjusting everything and this thing drives like new! So happy. AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care - The mustang home from Aamco. - Auto Repair Near Me - Round Rock, Texas

$8,000 loss. Had to sell my truck for LESS than what I paid AAMCO of Round Rock Texas to fix the transmission ($5,100). As a nurse? This is not the best time to be without a vehicle. Brought my 4x4 4 door truck in to be repaired for a 1st gear failure, so whole tranny was replaced. (Fine, I get it, but I loved the truck and it got me through the snow and family trips, worth it right?) But first time I got my truck back the parking "gear" acted as neutral & just rolled back. Had to rely on parking brake until re-repaired. Got it back again, (second time) and the whole transmission was obliterated. Chunks of gear shattered, almost locked up on the Highway, then locking up in 1st/2nd gear almost 50 miles from home. So I brought it back again. They rebuilt it, adding "upgraded parts" and parts from some guys torque converter in the shop he bought himself and "added that in for free" wtf? Got it back. Still losing speed, still downshifting 16 times on the way to work and 12-14 times on the way back. AND transmission oil is leaking on my driveway. So I bring it back, AGAIN. Only for them to tell me the catalytic converters are to blame. Ok, I'll bite...another $749 for that. So, this is now the FOURTH TIME I got it back. Same issues. Loss of speed, frequent downshifting, and a new CEL that I've never seen before in the truck. I call them 2x and no answer, when I do get a hold of Matt (Rep who runs the place" says he will look at it, but can't do it same day and will end a while to diagnose.) I'm done. DONE. I drop it off and it sits and sits. "My best master techs are on it, we're reaching out to senior techs that don't work any more but they're the best of the best. My master "absolute senior Monster of a guy that knows his stuff isn't in" Sold the truck, Took a loss, And will not be coming here again. Although to be fair, I've referred a few people over in the past, even my own brother and they've done good work...But all those are for clutch replacements only. For trannys? I'm going to the dealer. I loved that truck, but I love my job and my patients more. Riding my motorcycle I'm flood conditions because rentals are harder to come by is not an option. But final tally? $8,000 loss from repairs, returned repairs, untimely turn around, car rental, more car rentals, more repairs....and the kicker? All & all? I put maybe, maybe around 3,000 miles with all of this, over MONTHS from beginning to end. read more

Not impressed with the service at Aamco. The employee (can't really call him a mechanic) failed to put my shifter back together correctly. Not only that, but some of the parts of the shifter were broken during the "repair" and I had to replace them myself. Total lack of confidence in this shop. Will not return. read more

Not only have I been taking my business to this Aamco for at least 15 years now, but I've also sent countless referrals to them because of the confidence I once had in this location. I don't know if they've recently changed owners or what, but in the last 6 months or so I've lost all confidence in this facility. I paid them for a service to my vehicle and needed to follow up with them on that service. I called them repeatedly to this end only to encounter an answering services that said they would pass a message for them to call me back. Guess what, no call back after numerous separate requests. When I finally did get someone at this Aamco center on the line, on another occasion, to follow up on the same matter, the individual who took the call claimed that they were having to shut the shop down early due to some issue and that he'd call me back the next day. And yet again, I never got a call back. I cringe to think of all the people I referred here and only hope they haven't had similar experiences. If they did, I'm so sorry. They're great at taking your money, but no at completing the services you paid for. At this point, I'd recommend steering clear of this place and spend your money somewhere else that still respects their customers and believes in service. read more

I drove it to Walmart and back after calling and letting them know. Guy tried telling me I just needed my tires balanced cause they were bad. Shady across the board. Mickey quoted me $825 for a new fuel pump on a 2001 Chrysler Sebring. I inquired about financing and was informed I had to put 30% down, pay $200 for them to install a GPS device and sign the title over to them. So if I am late on one payment they take ownership of the vehicle. I called Beach Auto which I should have went with from the start and quoted me $525 installed. He also did me the courtesy of explaining the reason it is a little pricey is because the fuel pump is located in the gas tank. I call Aamco again and let them know I will pass on their greed and what do you know they will now price match. So first you try and overcharge me then you will price match so automatically that makes me skeptical about their work and ethics. Did they not want me to take it elsewhere in fear I would find out the fuel pump is not even the issue? So I end up letting Aamco do the work because I did not want to have pay again to have the car towed and just tired of dealing with their ruse. I call Aamco to arrange pickup and here we go. I am now quoted $583 because for some unknown reason they did not quote me with the tax initially even though I made it clear the other shop quoted me $525 INSTALLED. They drop it to $525 after I have to point out their misleading tactics are obvious and out of control. I have little tolerance for business practices like this. We well see how the quality of the work is but I will not be taking any of my vehicles to this place again. read more

My Ford Focus needed a timing belt, a serpentine belt and a motor mount. Christopher was great in explaining that there was a "kit" and that the water pump would have to be replaced as well since they were already replacing the timing belt but it would be no extra labor charge. We also thought there might be an oil leak because of smoke expressing upon start-up, but he assured us there was not. He got us in before closing on one day and had us ready to go by mid-afternoon the next day which was GREAT for my busy schedule and my upcoming trip to Dallas. Lastly, Christopher put me in touch with a company that could finance a portion of the $800 total so that I could make payments. I could not be more happy with this repair experience since most I've had at car repair shops have been shall we say less than tolerable. I felt taken care of and not taken advantage of. The manager at Amaco in round rock can't keep his story straight. My truck at on his lot for 2 weeks. The insurance adjuster came once to inspect my transmission once . Matt The manager changed his story about my truck three times and then he said the insurance company wouldn't pay so they wouldn't fix it . I went to pick it up and I asked about the different story's and he denied it all .This guy can't speak the truth. Do not waste your time with these people. read more

1996 Audi A4, driving from Dallas to Austin Aug 11, a/c goes out around Temple. 107 out. Good times... This aamco was near the hotel. I've been to shops that won't work on german but they have a mechanic, David, who does. Spoke with him and he seemed knowledgeable Saw another Audi there as well. Clean shop, pleasant people, very satisfied with the experience. Manager Chris Maldonado was pleasant to deal with as well. They replaced compressor, cost $1,300 after tax, don't know how that compares to other shops but with temp 107 I just wanted cool air. Drove from there to Corpus Christi then back to Dallas, no problems. read more

I'm happy to be the first to Yelp! about this Aamco location. I went in with my "check engine" light on which was blocking me from passing Texas inspection. I thought I knew the problem was with the O2 sensors. The mechanic kind of agreed, but he wasn't 100% sure. He said he needed a full blown diagnostics that would take over an hour and cost about $90. The diagnostics found that the problem was NOT what I thought it was. Hugo, the manager, was nice enough NOT to charge me the $90 for the diagnostics since I would be coming back in to get the offending sensor replaced. I recently had the misfortune of dealing with Mickey at AAMCO in Round Rock, Texas. Following a transmission issue that was blatantly obvious to us (we, the mechanically-uneducated), we entrusted the diagnosis and subsequent repair to what we THOUGHT was a well-trained and thorough establishment. WRONG. On day #1 of them having the vehicle, they were unable to replicate the issue (noisy, slipping and rough-acting transmission). Fine, leave it there overnight and try again. Same result on day #2: unable to get the issue to present itself. We go in, pay for the $90 tow and drive home, well, tried to drive home. Didn't make it home instead the transmission FAILED again. Call back into AAMCO. They ask me to drive it all the way back; NO... I tell them this will tear up something worse and increase the repair bill (to which Mickey concurs). Mickey asks how much fuel is in the tank (plenty) and the decision is made to tow the car in still running so that they can hear the noise and experience what I am experiencing. Two hours after my call (me sitting in the vehicle, STILL running) the tow truck finally showed up. Even the tow truck driver had to confirm to them that he could not get the vehicle to move in any gear. They called back this morning with "good" news; the transmission has catastrophically failed. More good news; the transmission is under warranty. Fine. We have a local dealership tow it away from AAMCO for repair, but I have to pay AGAIN for tow #2. Now, you would THINK that AAMCO would step up and admit they failed to properly test and re-test to get the failure to occur (all I had to do was drive it down one road for 15 minutes under normal traffic conditions). NOPE. I'm stuck with not one but TWO tow bills. I will never, ever again take any of my vehicles, nor recommend to anyone AAMCO, especially the Round Rock, Texas location. read more

This place is the epitome of rip off automotive shops...I was absolutely disgusted with their business practice...I took my vehicle in to get transmission repair and had checked with several other locations prior to taking it here...they assured me that it would be cheaper than what everyone else was quoting me, so I figured I'd let them take it apart and see what exactly needs to be done...after I did he quoted me an exact price that was $1,100 more than the most expensive price I had already discussed with other locations...I said no thanks I want my car back...they said well you're going to have to pay $800 since we took it apart n will have to put it back together...I said no thanks I'll take it as is (because it was sitting on the ground already somewhat back together) and have it towed elsewhere...they said no you're gonna have to pay the whole fee whether we do the work or not...obviously I was not happy about this theory of paying for something that never happened as well as the outrageous price for the repair So after over an hour of arguing they still wanted to charge me for work that was never done...so I tried to figur out what made their repair so much more expensive...he told me the prices for the individual pieces to fix my transmission...when he did I was in shock...he wanted to charge a $400 markup...I explained I had talked to the dealership about the cost and such and that I could literally go pick it up myself for $400 less than what he wanted to charge me, he proceeded to give me some Bad Story about how he paid more than I would because he's a repair shop...haha wow I ought he was joking but he proceeded to argue that it was the truth that he had to pay that much more than any normal person...long story short I had it fixed here because the price to take it out of the shop more broken then I took it in was over $900 then I'd still have to pay for the repair elsewhere...so I figured lesson learned dont go back but suck it up because I couldn't afford to just throw away the $900...well my car still has some mechanical issues, and on top of that they didn't even put the plastic underbody engine cover back on all the way so its hanging down, all this even though its "all brand new parts"... I'd highly advise staying away from here, not an honest shop and they charge outrageous price for less than mediocre work,,,but hey it's you're choice, so if you'd like to ignore my warning and put you're hand on the stove don't blame me when you get burned. read more

They looked at our car that day and immediately ordered us a brand-new transmission. It arrived the day they said it would, they installed it and it was ready the next day. Called to get a price on replacing the clutch on my son's '65 Mustang. He has the parts. This location would not give me a ball park figure over the phone. Won't quote anything unless they see the car. I made it clear that if we chose to bring it to them for service, there may be other things that need to be addressed, we just want a starting point to know what they charge to change out a clutch. Took my car to get looked at today at 1230 due to some shaking and not hitting the power it was supposed to. I work next door so I thought I would give them a shot. The guy in the front office was very helpful and called me 30 min later with a quote & told me they could have my car to me by the time I got off at 430pm that same day. I see here that there have been other complaints about misdiagnosis and it comes as no surprise. When my husband acknowledged a car problem before letting them change the oil on the car, they somehow managed to make it worse, and when we called concerned, they said that we shouldn't have been driving the car the way it was in the first place, then denied having done service to the car. Don't take your car here unless you would like to waste time and money. Hugo was a good manager, unfortunately he is no longer employed with them. Its going to cost in the thousands to fix problems that didnt occur until the car was left with them for an hour. read more

DO NOT GO HERE! They tried to overcharge me by $2400! I came in for a check engine light and got the free inspection. I should have known it wasn't on the up and up when I heard the manager talking to the couple in front of me. He told them "Modern cars aren't really built to last more than three or four years." Exact words. My first thought was "What?!" but I went against my gut vibe and left my car with them anyway. After a quick diagnostic, he told me the problem was electrical and he'd need about an hour and half to look at it. Once he called me back, he told me that the torque converter clutch solenoid in the very back of my transmission needed to be replaced and it would require a complete transmission rebuild. He said it would be at least $2800 to replace this piece, though it might cost more if they found added parts that needed to be replaced. Needless to say, I was floored, especially since my car has been driving perfectly. So afterwards I called an automotive place that had a 5 star rating on Yelp. Boy am I glad I did. As soon as I told the guy that worked there I went to AAMCO, he told me how shady they were. He recommended I call another transmission repair in Austin (one with a 5-star Yelp rating I might add) and not only did they do a free inspection, the manager there called me back and told me that there was nothing wrong with my transmission and I didn't need a rebuild at all. I did need the Solenoid replaced, but parts and labor, it would only cost me $400. What a difference. AAMCO not only gave me a bogus diagnosis, they wanted to charge me $2400 extra! By the way, when I called to tell the AAMCO manager that I was coming to pick up my car, he commenced with the scare tactics. He told me I absolutely had to have the transmission repaired, that it was something I "can't get out of" and I'd never pass inspection unless I did. Once I went out there to get my car, he didn't even know where he'd left my keys. I had to wait in the lobby while he ran back and forth three times (outside, inside, outside, inside, check the desk, ask another employee, check his desk again) until he finally found them. He then tried to give me the sales pitch again and even said he'd try to "work with you on the price." Okay, so why wouldn't you work with me on it before? Is it because maybe you were overcharging me? Hmm... Just when I thought I was done with these people, I got a message later on from the regional manager saying that the Round Rock manager called to tell him I was about to have transmission failure (What! That's sure not what they said at Eagle Transmission) and he was also willing to work with me on the price to make sure I got the work done, because I HAD to have it done. Okay, enough. I know this is a long post, but I want to make sure no one gets suckered into this scheme like I almost did. GO TO ANOTHER TRANSMISSION SPECIALIST! Any other specialist! There's a reason these guys have a reputation for being shady. I still feel so sorry for the couple in front of me. I can only imagine how much they had to pay for work that might not have even needed being done. At best, these people are just inept and incompetent (not the kind of adjectives I want attached to my mechanic). At worst, their crooked and conniving. Since I'm not a mind reader, I can't be absolutely sure as to which, but I can tell you I am absolutely, positively, and totally glad I got out of there as fast as I could. I just wish someone would have told me before I wasted my whole morning on these people. read more

I've worked in customer service for many years now and because of that I have high expectations when I'm the one asking for customer service. Clemente exceeded those expectations by a country mile. He set my expectations up front of what would be done, how much it would cost and when it would be done. Then he and his team not only met those expectations but Clemente called me each day just to let me know how everything was going. I was so impressed I took my wife's car in the next day to also have it work on. And again he did what he said. Having had more than my share of bad experiences with mechanics I can not recommend Aamco enough. I have an extended warranty, so James, the service manager, had to communicate with the company regarding parts and labor. Although the warranty company is very difficult and didn't want to pay for anything, James was persistent and spent a considerable amount of time dealing with them so that I had to pay as little as possible. I took my 2003 Dodge Caravan into Aamco expecting to spend the entire day waiting for repairs. My air conditioner had quit working and I was planning a trip to West Texas the next day. Surprise. I was in, and out in less than 2 hours. I had originally planned to take the car to the dealership, but glad I didn't. I saved a bundle. I was so happy with the service and the staff, that I have made arrangement to be back to have an electric window repaired in the next few days.
