This team has offered the BEST auto service I've ever experienced thus far. My car decided to not start while I was out running errands and I was really nervous about having to spend so much money on towing AND diagnostic testing so soon after just making another large purchase on a repair I needed. I spoke with Alan C. on multiple occasions before finally deciding to just get a quote for towing and everything to going forward with it to get it over with (I didn't really have a choice at this point). Alan was patient and so informative about pricing, timing, and everything. Once he found out how close I was to the business (literally a 2-minute walk), he and another team member, Josh, drove out themselves and jumped my car so I could drive it around the corner to the shop for further inspection. I saved sooo much time and money because of this courtesy, they did not have to do this, yet they did. I was able to get in and out in under 30 minutes with a new battery, a cheaper inspection to make sure my battery wouldn't give out again, and some further recommendations for my next service so that the quoted prices would be saved in their system. Do you ever wonder if an auto service place is reccommending repairs that arent needed ? I do. Well, this morning, I took my wife's car here to have them check the brakes because of a squeeking sound coming from one wheel. The car has 37000 miles on the odometer. After a not too long wait, the service sales person came over and gave me an estimate on replacing brakes and rotors. He then stated that a squeeking sound isn't always a sign of needed repair and that I could get another 40 K miles out of my existing brakes. I guarantee you that there are several companies in my area that would hav told me that I needed to do the job right now. I took my car in because a bunch of warning lights all turned on at the sane time. They charged me $217 for a diagnostic and said it would take over $10K for a full new transmission and also needed a brake pad and rotor replacement. I have been using Sun Auto for years and have found them to be very accommodating, with great customer service and communication. However, I was very disappointed in today's encounter. I came in because my check engine light was on. Prior to this visit, I had a diagnostic done which showed (by code) that the Mass Air Flow sensor was the problem. I did my research, and was prepared to do this easy fix myself. However, I couldn't get 'the clip' unplugged, so I brought it in for service. Sun Auto wanted to charge me $199 for yet another diagnostic, but I insisted on them investigating the sensor (as mentioned above), based on the diagnostic I had gotten previously from another car repair place. After much discussion they agreed. When they called to give me the quote for the sensor, it was MUCH more than I would have anticipated, knowing that it was a relatively simple fix. I was quoted labor of 'only' $82 which said to me that the time involved for this fix was minimal. I picked up my car and took it somewhere else and got a quote for half of what Sun Auto wanted to charge. And, the other place mentioned that if I completed the work at their shop, there was no charge for the diagnostic service, should I want to do that again. In addition, they offered me a quote with after market parts. Sun Auto used to always offer that (after market parts), but did not this time. Nor did they offer any guarantee, but this other place offered a 2 year guarantee. I IF Sun Auto offered these same considerations (after market parts, part guarantee, no charge diagnostics if work is done there), they should have mentioned it up front. The impression that I got was 'here's what we can do- take it or leave it'..so I left it. After doing business with Sun Auto all these years, I just felt the 'change' as if the big corporation was mandating these behaviors. Don't get me wrong- I have NO issue with any of the folks that work there. They have ALWAYS been extremely customer friendly and accommodating. Scheduled a conventional oil change and free tire rotation for the next day. When I arrived they said they had no conventional oil, and offered me semi-synthetic at a higher price. I agreed. When I came back, I found they had not done the tire rotation, and refused to do it. The oil change seemed to be done okay. read more

Took my car in for an oil change without an appointment. I also needed an estimate for a 100K service. Alan was the person who helped me and he is the nicest person in Texas! Really attentive and knowledgeable. The price for the oil change was great and the estimate for the service was very competitive... my car was done within an hour and they also completed a photo evaluation of my car that they sent me an attachment for. They just didn't tell me the services that they recommended, but they showed me on my own car what they meant and why it was important.... Can't say enough nice things about the shop. Very clean, clean bathroom and a self help coffee stand. I will be bring my other cars here. read more

Have been going to Sun Auto the last two years and would say they were reasonably priced and do a pretty good job. Only a couple mishaps from previous oil changes/services. But just went in and was quoted $160 for an oil change ($105 the previous 2 years) and quoted me another $165 to replace an air filter. Couldn't give me a reason why they increased by $60 dollars on the oil change just thats what they went up to?! Sad to say I will no longer be using Sun Auto Service again! read more

My car AC was blowing warm air, so I was looking to make an appointment with an auto shop. I saw Sun Auto Service, literally as I was running errands, and call to make an appointment. I spoke with Michael, who told me they just had a cancellation and I could come in now. Michael greeted me at the counter, checked me in, and explained the process. He kept me informed and showed me what the issue was. They had to order a part, which took about 10 min, replaced it, and made sure my AC was blowing cold before I left; it's been working fine since. I had a flat tire so my husband took our car to Sun Auto. We ended up moving forward with 2 brand new tires and an alignment for almost $800. I was pressed for time but after doing research, I realized how insanely overpriced their quote was. No big deal. What pisses me the f*ck off was during the time services were rendered was that they completely f*cked up our gas tank. We were left with damage that could have only happened through Sun Auto's doing. I thought I was crazy but after taking it to a trusted mechanic and even Jiffy Lube, they confirmed it would have only been Sun Auto to do damage like this. I was out thousands of dollars for their mistake. I didn't call to rectify the situation because I'm not bringing any of my cars back to Sun Auto ever again. The manager also sucks the few times I have been in there for an oil change. Go elsewhere cause this place SUCKS. read more

I brought my car in to get inspected and to get an oil change. I was also waiting for a quote for a new battery..I left it thinking they would take care of it in a timely manner. I called back an hour and a half later to get an update, and ALLEN, the person who was responsible for my car, told me he had not even grabbed my car out of the parking lot yet. Long story short, it took a total of about 5 hours to get my car, and when they gave it to me they didn't reset my oil change meter, which I thought was weird but I didn't mind waiting..the next day I got a warning on my car saying I needed to add a quart of oil because my car was super low? When I brought it back in ALLEN took the car. When ALLEN came back, he lied to me and said that the my oil tank was "bigger" than they thought?! Confused I asked him what he meant. He was trying to say that they put 5.9 liters and my car was 6.5(he was trying to lie and say they miscalculated) when in reality I don't understand how I would receive a message that my car is basically out of oil if they put a bunch in..the other gentleman that works there admitted that it was a user error, and I'm quite sure they drained my oil and didn't put any new oil in(hence the oil change meter not being reset) I'm disgusted with this place and will never give them business again! read more

A good mechanic needs to Know and then Care about a problem in order to repair it. I took my car to two shops (one was the car dealer) to identify the source of a slow oil leak. No answers. Then Tyler at Sun Auto sprayed an oil solvent then importantly dried the area to discover the plastic cap cover on the oil filter had a small crack resulting in the leak. He Knew how to look, and then he Cared enough to take the extra step to identify the problem. Easy fix to replace with a metal cap cover at a rediculously low price. My wife had her 60000 mile service done here prior to a road trip. She was told she needed suspension work and quoted $2600. She arrived at her destination, got a second opinion concerning suspension (it's not needed). Her oil cap was loose and her car had no more oil, her brakes were in need of repair. (How would that get missed if an inspection was done?). We're very disappointed, in the past we've not felt like we were being scammed. I'll update this review. I am 70 years old and accustomed to going to shops someone I trust has recommended. Just called these guys from an Internet ad. 'Family owned business' they said. This Sun Auto Is the most incompetent, dishonest, grinning when they screw you shop ever. $1600 requoted to 2,000. Picked BMW up, drove to Georgetown, problem not corrected. Returned. Told me no warranty, said it 'probably happened on the way home.' Another $1600. Paid $3600. Took it to German Auto. Reviewed repair for $100. Said Sun did not even have proper test equipment. I have sent over $160M in aircraft parts repairs around the world. Raised 5 kids with maybe 20 autos. Never ever have I met any shop like these guys. Went up the ladder to owners in Phoenix. No call backs. Pushed off on regional manager. No offer of help. Don't go near these bums. But they do grin when they are screwing you. read more

My Car battery drained completely and it didn't start so i had to drop it at near by auto service and it happened to be Sun auto so towed my car to Cedar Park Sun auto service center and they asked to keep the car over night and next day when i called at noon they said they need to replace battery and cable. Manager charged me $436, cost of parts $226 and labor $175 + taxes. I enquired with Firestone and estimated labor charges by Firestone for Battery and cable replacement is $78. Sun auto is definitely over priced as mentioned by many other customers in the reviews. I don't recommend Sun Auto read more

I wish I could give ZERO STARS!!! Total ripoff!!! I needed a radiator and hoses replaced. Obviously, they had to remove one end of the top hose (which is very easy to reach) to remove the radiator. And of course, replacing the hose meant they had to loosen the other end of the hose, and tighten up the clamp on the new hose. THEY CHARGED ME $75 TO DO THIS--loosen and tighten one hose clamp. Then they had the balls to tell me they only charged me half price since I was having other work done. Stay away!!! read more

Best customer service in Cedar Park! I've been taking my FJ and Lincoln to these guys for a few years now and they never disappoint when it comes to being on time and doing great work on my cars. No one likes to pay a lot for any service on their car and review accordingly but I believe they are honest and up front about all repairs on my vehicles. Even if they aren't always the less expensive option I believe you get what you pay for and I'm always happy knowing they are doing great work! I've never had to take my vehicle back for follow up work. They are great at inspections and letting me know what "potential" problems I might have on my cars based on years and mileage and trust their opinions and suggestions 110%. They took my $20 & wanted me to come back to "fix" the issue for $600. My boyfriend took my car to another place and my car passed with no problem and I have no leak anywhere in my car. I have very custom wheel adapters and I think most brake places would have given up because it requires every bolt (24 of them) to be tightened and loosened by hand.
