I brought my 2009 Honda Civic in on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 because my air conditioner was not functioning properly. I was greeted by Gary Roos, the manager, who told me they would check out my car for the standard $29.95 AC check fee and let me know what the problem(s) was/were. He even got a person to bring me back to my house and road test the car. Later that afternoon I was contacted and much to my surprise, I was told by Gary that all I needed as a new AC relay fuse, and that I could pick it up myself at the auto store. I did so and when I arrived back at the store, Gary gave the switch to the technician, who installed it. I asked Gary what the charge was, and he told me that it was NO charge at all, since all they had to do was to install the switch that I had purchased it was pointless to charge me for that. I left a bad review on Google because they didn't have the right fluid. I'm leaving a bad review on Yelp because they lied in their Google response. I came to this AAMCO for a transmission drain and refill. The car dealer only wants to do a high-pressure flush which is not what I want. My vehicle requires a very specific transmission fluid, so before any work started I asked to see the fluid they planned to use. That turned out to be a very smart decision. After some hesitation, the technician finally showed me the fluid, and it was not the correct specification for my vehicle. I then asked whether I could provide the correct fluid myself, and I was told they would only use the fluid they had in stock. Because of that, there was no work done on the car. That alone would have been enough for a poor review. What made it worse was the owner's public response to my Google review. Instead of acknowledging that the shop did not have the correct fluid for my car, the response falsely claimed my transmission had internal problems and suggested that was why the service was not done. That is not true. I was never given any diagnosis of an internal transmission problem. The issue was simple: they did not have the correct fluid and would not allow me to provide it. I've contacted their corporate customer service as well and I await a response. If you are bringing a vehicle here for transmission service, verify exactly what fluid they intend to use before they touch your car. I went in for "D" gear light blinking , diagnosis is free but to open and really see the issue it $1297 then in total was $4897 so be prepared! Overall Gary kept us updated throughout and mechanic worked hard to get it back within a considerable timeframe!!! Also walked away with a pretty good warranty!! I've not be contacted by anyone involved with this business not even the owner and not the President of AAMCO transmission Co sitting in his glass office in California! No one cares except BBB , the Attorney General's Office of Texas and Investigative Reporters on Channel 11 so it's off to Small Claims Court and I now will ask for damages and punitive Fines damages to me , when all I wanted was to have my carpets cleaned, my seat cleaned , my hood latch repaired and an itemized receipt for the " parts and labor " I'm not going away Gary and Michael! My car, a 2014 Ford Escape, was having transmission problems. After checking for repair shops in my area (Webster area) I called Aamco Transmission. I spoke to Gary (manager). He stated a price to fix the transmission and they picked up my car on Friday, May 13. We made calls to the shop periodically to check on the progress of the repairs. We were told it would be ready on Friday, May 20. I was expecting a phone call to confirm this but none came. The Aamco website states that they would be open on Saturday from 8am to Noon. We called Saturday morning to check if my car was ready. The phone rang and rang and then disconnected. We drove to the shop (10am) only to find that that they were closed. I am angry because there was never any call from them regarding the status of repairs. It was always us doing the calling. Also, if they are going to be closed on Saturday, the website should state that. I cannot reach anyone until Monday and I am not happy! read more

Where do I start with this review? What a horrible experience. Would give zero stars - negative stars for this AAMCO shop in Webster on Hwy 3. Stay Away! The manager, Gary and the owner, Michael Reed, take hard earned dollars from hard working folks like me. I had my car towed there for a possible transmission issue - it took 5 days for them to diagnose after I had to keep calling and asking for an update and guess what? I need a new transmission on a car with less than 60k miles. They will never call you and give you an update because they are so busy taking hard earned money from other people. I asked to see my car and the broken parts - No, we never let customers in the shop. Can I see the broken parts? No. I want to take my car to another shop. No, we've already started rebuilding your transmission. Really, in 12 hours you went from waiting on parts to already starting the work overnight? Called the cops, called the Constable's office - they don't want to get involved. They won't help you. Called AAMCO Corporate Headquarters Customer Service. Guess What? You get a voice mail, you have to leave a message - we will return the call within 2 days - nothing, no call back. Call and ask for a manager in Consumer Support - guess what? You get a voice mail, leave a message and no call back. How can this AAMCO shop in Webster stay in business with the way they cheat good people every day? Read the reviews and STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE. Oh, and they will not tell you what parts were replaced and nothing on the invoice but a total price without any itemization. You've been warned. I forgot to add that as soon as I picked up my car, I took it to another shop that graciously offered to put my car on the lift so we could look at it. Guess what? I can't recommend this shop for the following reason. This is a single occurrence but it's evidence of gross abuse. My daughter's older Lexus RX300 was towed to AAMCO on Sunday (8-22-21) when the shifter cable snapped. The following Tuesday, she received a call with notice of a $120 diagnostic fee, and was told that the cost of repair was right at 2394.99 to fix it. We went on to request an estimate from another reputable mechanic at $900 but it would take at least a week. Lexus repaired the car in 3 days for $1265. Even at the higher cost from a Lexus dealership, it's obvious that AAMCO was abusive in their price. Use at your own risk! read more

Do not ever go to Aamco transmissions. Specifically Aamco in Webster. I went there because they were supposed to be the transmission experts. So I assumed they would be even better than a dealership. Nothing could be farther from the truth.. The 1st time they had my car for a few days short of a month. At no point during that time was I ever given an update.I would call them and every time I called Gary would give me the same speech. My car was almost done, they were test driving it, And it would be ready soon. So I would wait for a day or 2 after the promised date before I would call back. It was always the same speech I got from him. At 1 point a few weeks in I was told that they had discovered a mud that was bad it was bad, it was probably what had caused my car to go back to begin with, and they would fix it for free. It was an $800 part. They're not going to give away $800 unless they are the ones that screwed it up. And also if it was what was originally wrong, why didn't I find it weeks ago? Several times "bad seals" were the reason I was given when I had to call for an update. At 1 point I just drove up there after work, Gary was rather put out that I dared to just show up. After a month almost the car was ready to be picked up. I drove up there and was told I did not need to break it in it was ready to go it was ready to go. When I picked it up all the tires were at 20 pounds and you could not see out of the windshield. It was exactly like they had picked it up. How had they driven it dozens of times if the tires only had 20 lbs in them? So close to $4000 later I am back on the road. It lasted about a week. The car sometimes did not want to shift into gear right after you started the car. I called corporate and asked I'd the warranty was good at any Aamco.i was told that unless I was more than 50 miles from the original shop, I had to go back to the same place. So I call Gary and was told to bring it back by. I had to borrow a vehicle to drive to work and since the car still drove fine once it was in gear, I wasnt in much of a hurry to take it back to Aamco in Webster. I had to take my son to a hospital ER in Houston one night and decided for comfort's sake to to the car. At 2AM on 288 in the middle of nowhere the transmission went out. It would not shift into gear anymore. I called Gary the next day and was told that since I kept driving it, I had to pay to have it towed. After looking at it, Gary called me and told me the owner would not cover parts with my warranty, only labor. This implies it was my fault the transmission went bad. This time they had my car for nearly 2 ¹/2- 3 weeks. Still the same. No updates, "I am driving it myself," "it's almost done." We finally pick it up and it costs me over $1300. Now I am $5300 into this car. It made it less than 20 miles. It acted the exact same way. The difference was that this time it was Herself stuck on the side of the road. Strangely enough there was no talk about me paying to have it towed. Here's my question, where is my $1300 back? It obviously was nothing I did. This was supposed to be an all new transmission and all new parts since then. The man at Corporate said that with my type of transmission, Aamco Webster should have sent it back for a new one at the first problem they had. Never once has the owner contacted me. Update: Aamco has had my car for 5 days so far. I still have received no update. This makes a total of almost 2 months. They could have built a whole car by now Corporate called me back again. After getting my tahoe back still drives like Shit. I have gotten all the excuses that nothing is wrong with it. After taking it back for another week I had to call to get updates. Gears still not switching right, it won't take long right. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE !!!! DONT SAY I DIDNT WARN YOU, IF I COULD GIVE THIS PLACE 0 STARS I WOULD!!!! I had visited kwik kar on friday 5/15/2020 for an over all inspection of my car because I had just reached 115,000 miles and wanted to make sure my car was in tip top shape , mind you no check engine lights were on and there was no problems at all (it's just recommended that once your car reaches 100,000 miles you get a "check up" on it) & low and behold everything had checked out just fine , they said If i had wanted that i could go a little further and check out my transmission just to triple check but again EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! I decided to look up AAMCO seeming that they specialize with transmissions and paid them a visit on monday 5/18/2020 ... I waited for an hour & a half just for them to check things out and run diagnostics, I also should of knew something was up when I asked to get something out of my car that I forgot and saw my car hooked up making this noise (its indescribable) almost like it was being forced to accelerate and was jerking forward AND THE RPM'S were going crazy , but I just thought they were running a test on it & it would be fine since it's never done it before... then 30-45 minutes later, Gary (guy at the front desk) comes up to me and tells me that I have a bad MAP sensor which I had just replaced a few months ago , and a bad throttle body... he handed me the paper of the services which were $665 for the map sensor & $493 for the throttle body (mind you, I bought my map sensor and paid for labor when I replaced it and it was less than $100) & later, when the man drove our car back to us when it was done, you can see the car jerking uncontrollably and making stalling noises ! We were furious & went back in and told them that the car wasnt running this way when we brought it in, gary just told us "wow , must of been just been bad timing and shitty luck. Sorry" we walked out of there and were almost in an accident trying to drive to our trusted mechanic because the car kept jerking forward and sounded like it was going to stall ! We had to put it in neutral just for the car to be stable and for the RPMS not to go crazy while stopped at a red light, luckily we made it back to our TRUSTED mechanic and I was in complete tears from fear of being in an accident , and just being cheated ..it was overwhelming to know that someone can mess with your car and get away with it!!!! Our mechanic checked on everything and it "seemed" that a few wires some how mysteriously got disconnected and our MAP sensor was absolutely fine and our throttle body was perfect , and when we drove off you could barely even tell our car was even turned on and it was riding better than ever ! All I can say is that this business & these people arent gonna get away with this , I'm reporting them to the BBB and gonna leave reviews on every forum to warn everyone out there about what a horrible experience I had and how cheated out I was.. i knew they thought that they could get away with this because Im a "naive female" in their eyes but I knew better than to pay for these services because I do my research and get different quotes all the time, but especially with COVID 19 happening and the shop being out of business for so long , I knew these mechanics were thirsting for money and would cheat out a couple of women just to earn some dishonest money ! The service provided by AAMCO, Webster, TX was deplorable.  We had the transmission completely rebuilt at a cost of $4125.36 CAD four years ago and had them check it each year as we travel from Mexico to Ontario Canada each Spring.  This year on the way from Mexico coming into Texas, the transmission started making odd noises and not operating properly, so we brought it back to them for service on Tuesday, April 12 and were eventually told the torque converter had broken causing the transmission to need another complete rebuild that eventually cost us $3975.60 CAD.  The original warranty had expired even though there were only 40,000 miles on their rebuilt transmission.   We have now incurred over two weeks of living expenses to stay here while the repairs were done.  We went there several times to retrieve personal items and on one of these occasions we found the refrigerator not working. They had disconnected the house batteries without notifying us thereby shutting off the refrigerator which caused a loss of some $200 worth of food. We were told the batteries had to be disconnected to work on the transmission, not true, the house batteries on any RV are not connected to chassis.  Then when we tried to go back again as we forgot some personal items we needed because we got involved in cleaning up the mess in the refrigerator we were told that we cannot keep coming back every day to retrieve items. The manager, Gary, then became very belligerent saying it was our responsibility to remove everything from the motorhome before having it serviced.  How is that even possible as we are traveling it that motorhome and had been living in it for four months prior to this event and we still had another 3000 miles to get to our home in Ontario !  Three times we were told the motorhome would be ready by the end of the day, once on Friday, April 22, then again on Monday, April 25 and again on Tuesday, April 26, and not once did we ever get a call back saying it would not be ready as we were told.  On April 26 we went there to find out what the delay was and were told that since we were being belligerent calling all the time to ask when it would be ready that he would not release the vehicle until "maybe" Friday, April 29.  Not knowing what else to do at this point and living expenses mounting we decided to contact AAMCO head offices and file a complaint.  Shortly after having done that, we received a call from Gary saying our motor home was ready for pickup.  We went there, paid the bill and retrieved it around 5pm and drove away.  Now after having driven it a few miles, It seems to be working properly, but we are far from satisfied with the service provide by the AAMCO service centre and in particular the manager, Gary's attitude, in Webster Texas.  We choose AAMCO to repair our transmission when it broke four years ago because they had nation wide service since we travel extensively throughout Canada, the USA and Mexico.  We presumed they would be the best option to fit our needs, now I'm not so sure we made the best choice. Friday, April 29, 2022 Gary, I just read your response to my posting on Google.  You have certainly skirted around some of the issues.  You promised we would have our camper back by the end of the Day Friday, April 22.  That never happened and you never called to tell us it would not be ready, therefore we had to wait until Monday to speak to you about that.  You then told us it would be ready at the end of the day Monday, April 25, that never happed either and you never called to say that it would not be ready.  Meanwhile, we came there on Monday, April 25 to get some personal belongings that we needed and when we went in the vehicle we found the fridge not working and all the food spoiled so we had to clean up that mess and in the process of doing that we forgot to get the personal items we had initially come for.  So, the vehicle was not ready the end of the day Monday, and yes we called you and came there on Tuesday to find out what the problem was.  YOU got upset with us having to come there and call about the vehicle, what did you expect to happen after you broke two promises and ruined $200 with of food because you turned off the battery power to the fridge.   Then on top of all that you said you would not give us back the vehicle until Friday.  That's what prompted me to get hold of AAMCO head office to file a complaint which then got you to call us saying the vehicle was ready for pickup.  So, let's get the story straight.  All this BS about being behind schedule, us interrupting your work to get us access to our vehicle is just BS, we saw no one working on anything the times we came there and we saw no impediment to moving our vehicle up and down on the lift.  We are now in Natchez, MS and found in driving today that brake pedal is still sticking on after you told me that this would be fixed as it had something to do with the transmission.  Well, you did not fix the sticking brake peda read more

A longer review to follow, I am sitting here getting Verbally abused by Gary. For the love of everything holy DO NOT BRING YOUR CAR HERE EVER. What a crock Michael. You had my car for 2 minths not ten. I will post a picture of the receipt. That right there starts it ALL OFF.... LIES LIES AND MORE LIES. I dropped my car off on a wednesday at around 10a. I was told it will take 2 hrs to find out what is wrong. I called at 1:30p, told it had NOT been looked at yet but they would within the hr. I called again at 4p. Told we have to take it apart to know for sure, we will call you at 5p. At 5:45p still no call i called back. No one answered. This went on like this on Thursday till abt 3p when i was told I needed a new transmission and it would cost $3000+. To which i answered i didnt have it. All I have is $1000. I asked them to put it back the way it was i would pay the 250 i think it was for them to look at it. Mind you every time i called, Gary answered and was SUPER RUDE. yelling at me. I was verbally abused by this man. He tells me they cant put it back together. I have to pay for the new transmission. I again tell him i dont have it he tells me. To give him 8 or 10 post dated checks. I tell him i dont have checks. Then he says they can try to finance, i tell him i know i wont qualify. I just want my car. This went back and forth the rest of thursday and all of friday. I contacted my dealership they offered to fix it amd add the cost to my payments. I call Gary tell him this. Now he tells me they can work with me on payments. Its already a long story. When i got my income tax i paid it and got it back. As for the battery Gas business..... Hey smart one, you drove it from the back to the front. Battery was fine. As for gas. Yes i was PIST. i had filled the tank before i got there and 2 months later I was missing 3/4 qtrs of gas. ..... I really appreciate your business as my Mustang is a brand new car again basically as you guys did an excellent job with gutting the whole transmission and putting all high performance gears in and shaft, plus the differential gear upgrade to the 373 gear and shim kit on rearend and rebuilding the rearend. Also excellent job on the new high performance clutch and slave cycliner you replaced. I had to relearn my car as quick take off, my God, lol it's very fast and i am very happy with it. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. I got a transmission rebuild less than 2 years ago at this place. I paid $3,300 on the rebuild which already WAYYY too much I just needed my truck ASAP and it was already there. I've put about 20,000 miles on it since then and it already burnt out. I went back to them to see if they would work with me even though it was barely out of warranty. The guy says he'll call me to tell me what the problem is. He doesn't I have to call several times. I get it they're probably busy. Not mad about that. He eventually gets around to telling me the problem and he says it's a problem with something in my engine that caused my transmission to burn out. (The FICM if you're familiar.) He then stresses to me it's nothing that they did wrong which caused the transmission to burn out it was the said part. He then tells me they can do the rebuild on the transmission, but I would have to go somewhere else to fix the part in the engine because they don't work on diesels. Very weird they're diagnosing a diesel if they don't work on them. He says they can cut me a "deal" and charge me just parts and not labor on the transmission and that will be $2,200, but I have to go somewhere else to fix the engine part. I'm pretty familiar with my truck and it's components, and the part they were telling me was bad wouldn't cause the transmission to burn out. So what I did was call the Pasadena location and tell them everything the Webster location told me and they proceeded to tell me that I'm right and it doesn't make sense. I took my truck to a different shop in South Houston who did the rebuild for $1,600 and also fixed a radiator leak for me for free. That's customer service. Not responsive. Left my car with them. Said they'd call in a few hours. I did not speak to anyone for several days. When I reached them they still had not looked into the problem. They then said they would call me in a few hours. After several more hours I called to finally get the diagnosis which was ambiguous at best. You got us! Well played, Aamco! ("Free estimate"...well played.) Yelpers, in exchange for my agreement to a "Free estimate", I got a phone call that evening to which the mechanic said they can't help me until they get the vehicle to a point that they can see better what they are looking at. This peak-inside cost me just under $500 and one full day without my vehicle. There was not a single repair completed. I was obviously aware that there was a problem with my vehicle (hence the decision to take it to a professional) but I did not go in as an uninformed vehicle owner (just an uninformed mechanic selection). I had a strong understanding of what was wrong with the vehicle and knew approximately what the costs should be. What I was told, was anything but. It's far too lengthy to spell this all out in a review, so here's the deal...I'm on day 2 without my truck and I'm "supposed" to be able to get it towed today (nice, right?). When I do, I will update this review to include my paid receipt for my "Free estimate". I will update this post a 3rd time when I am in possession of my paid invoice for the auto shop that will actually complete the repairs on my vehicle. You'll get a side-by-side comparison. If you go in as an uninformed vehicle owner, you'll pay extortion rates for unnecessary repairs. Educate yourself. Youtube and Google anything and everything. Mechanic-of-choice as well. (Update #1 less than 30 minutes after my post: Aamco said they won't have my vehicle put back together until Monday. I took my car to AAMCO because it is a national chain and I was moving out of state. They tried to sell me a 1 year warranty but I insisted on a 3 year warranty because I knew I would be keeping the car that long. Well, one year later I am experiencing transmission problems again so I take it to my local AAMCO where the tell me I need $700 in repairs and my warranty has expired; after only 1 year. So I call Gary Roos at AAMCO in Webster and he says I paid for the 1 year warranty, even though they charged me $300 extra for the 3 year warranty. These guys are shady. Stay away and spend your money elsewhere. read more

Took my truck to Gary kept for a week told me they were going to do a full diagnostic check on my truck for $685.a week later his results were I needed a me transmission that mine was "bone dry and burned up!"his exact words and that its going to cost me $4300 to fix.. fortunately I'm not ignorant I turned that offer down..needless to say my transmission was NOT damaged it was a transmission cable that controls the gear shift it just needed to be adjusted.$50 service fee at a honest dependable mechanic.Gary burned me for $685 and kept my truck for a week.it took this mechanic 30 mins to find problem and 2 hrs to fix..DO NOT TAKE YOUR VEHICLE to himour his shop.i am in process of taking care of this with my lawyer.thank u read more

He gave me quote and an estimated pick up date. They were extremely helpful guiding me to what the issue was and what parts it would take to fix it. This has been the worst car care experience in my life. I would never recommend anyone to this shop. The manager has no clue about the work his guys are doing. They have yet to fix the problem with my transmission and they've had my car in and out for three weeks now. They keep telling us they've fixed it and we keep having to take it back!! Finally the manager tells me to take it to the dealership and pay for a diagnostic! Obviously because they have no idea what they're doing. This place is a terrible joke. Do not take your car here! I've also tried to call customer support and have yet to hear back from them. Their automated response is that they will contact you back in 24 hours. It's been a week!! I've never in my life had such terrible service. read more

Be aware that this company will not install a used transmission if the cost of a rebuild is too high. Better to go somewhere else if you have an older vehicle. The rebuild cost came to $2900 for a 10 year old car with 148K miles...fine if it was a newer car but not for this Taurus. so I asked if they could put in a used one I had found instead of my bad one.....was told company policy is NO. They stated they would HAVE to put in the bad transmission instead which would charge me labor to install it and now I must pay for a tow and extra labor to remove and replace it...nothing like paying twice for the same job...I will not be back...the customer does not come first here. read more
