Over a period of a couple months, I called several times and no returned calls. After sending another Yelp message and informing owner that messages were left on voicemails and no returned calls, this Yelp message would be my last attempt to contact him for an appointment and for him to return my call. I am not in the habit of chasing down professionals in order to do business. He retorted that he is sorry I had trouble contacting them. (No statement as to why my calls were not returned, or that he got my messages) But, then stated he was "declining my request". That's professional! Steve is a true professional. We have a large in-ground spa that was installed by the homeowner of our house back in the late 80s. It's been a real challenge to find anyone that really understood how our system was set up given the DIY nature of the original installation. I left a message on Thursday and Steve returned my call promptly that evening and came out first thing Saturday morning to do an inspection. He spent a good hour and a half going over all of the components and analyzing what was causing certain of the jets not to function correctly. While we almost certainly will need more extensive work done in the future that will involve ripping up concrete, Steve was able to at least adjust some of the various settings enough that we can enjoy the spa again. His pricing was more than reasonable for the work done and the time spent. It was obvious how much experience Steve has and he took the time to walk us through what he was doing, even to the point of showing us some actual sample parts similar to those in our spa which he had in his bag and demonstrating how they work so we could better understand the inner workings of the plumbing and the jets. Honestly, what a pleasure to deal with a consummate expert who is willing to share his knowledge. Even more importantly, I did NOT feel like he was talking down to me as a female homeowner, which tends to be a recurrent problem for us women when engaging with certain contractors. We do have an older Sundance Optima Spa and experienced a leak. Called a few companies, and Steve was the one who immediately asked the right questions. I felt I was talking with someone with experience and was able to schedule a visit. Leak trouble-shooting can be tricky, especially with an older spa, but Steve was able to identify the source of the leak and found also a solution to stop it (and that was not trivial). He also recommended that we replace the circulating pump that was failing. It took all his expertise and experience to solve these issues, and we are truly grateful to have retained his services. Best pool & spa repair guy, hands down. Its pretty simple: 1) know your stuff, and 2) care that you get the job done, and get your customers back in operation. But its amazing how difficult its been to find a spa tech who delivers on both fronts. Steve is both of these in spades, a true pro. I have a relatively new heater, 4+/- years old, that just quit heating. Another tech diagnosed it as the control panel, swapped it out; didn't solve it. Maybe the pressure on the gas line? Nope. Had the tech just sorta shrug & tell me to buy a new one. Had the gas co check the pressure on the line; that was normal. Was about to replace it when I found Steve. From our initial call/conversation, he came out the next day. He went through each system to see why it wouldn't fire, solving problems along the way. Finally got to the cause: spider had crawled into the unit and laid an egg right under the igniter - the igniter couldn't spark the flame on. A not-that-uncommon enough problem for outdoor units he says, but one that takes some persistence and extra work to get to. Fixed it up and got it running, plus identified another issue in the electrical supply there that I can get sorted out as well. Bottom line: he knows his stuff and he really cares about delivering for his customers and solving their issues. Needless to say, Steve's my go-to guy from now on. read more
