Have wanted to try this place for a while but they were always closed on Mondays, finally was able to try it on a weekend. I would love to try their buffet one day though. There are two separate doors, one for the sweets and one for food. When you walk in, it immediately smells like an Indian home. I've had several Indian friends and always grew up in their home and it reminded me of that, also reminded me a bit of Asian medicine. We got seated immediately and it wasn't too busy at the time we went which was 6-7pm. Four booths were full including us, still had tables and chairs around to seat other people. It did take us awhile to get our menus which is weird because everybody there had already ordered so we were just waiting for the menu. Menu arrived, we ordered our food. We were told that the chicken tandoori would come with rice and it did not. I had asked before ordering and never received it. Never bothered mentioning as their service was really slow. They took 10mins to give us water after we had ordered our food. Mind you, everyone around us had ordered before us getting there and had waters. They also took forever refilling it as well. I feel us being close to the entrance of the door made us not noticeable at all. The food was good. The samosas were flaky and super aromatic. I prefer the lamb over the chicken because it has the peas. Both were dry though. We used the saw they gave us, the red one was a lot better and helped with the samosas. We also got the chicken pakora and it's kinda like popcorn chicken but just way more flavorful and spicy. Super spicy. It builds up as you eat it. The tandoori chicken just tastes like a lighter version of the red sauce we were dipping. The lamb biryani basically came out as we were literally almost done eating. That was very disappointing. We had already waited 20mins for it. Then told it would come out soon. Probably visited another 10-15mins. I only ate a quarter of it because I was full from everything else and how long it took. The lamb biryani is so soft in your mouth, the rice. The lamb, I wish it was a lot softer. Not a lot of pieces but it's okay. It has bits of tomatoes which help the moisture of it. It was definitely bursting with a bold flavor. I enjoyed it the next day as well. I would love to come back to try their buffet and hopefully get a better service. The prices are really affordable. It cost us $45 for all of this, in this economy that seems great for me! Great prices, portions and flavors! I did take a look at their sweets nearby, looked amazing and fresh. I can't believe how slow the workers are. We ordered the food online, and waited 45 more minutes in the restaurant. No apologies from the staff. They saw us sitting for a long time. No urgency at all to get your food ready. From the time we ordered till we got our food, it was 90 minutes. The restaurant had no other customers, nor did they have a lot of to go orders. Their new location is really nice and so much brighter and bigger than their old location. They moved to another in the same shopping center. read more

I don't often update my past reviews, but after getting through a year long pandemic, I felt like now was a good time to write another, after a long dry spell. It's nice to say that things haven't changed much, especially the food. Unfortunately, the owner went through tough times and business was touch and go as most restaurants had to face. But we were happy to see that they were still alive, even though we pretty much stayed home and social distanced. We finally emerged once again to visit some of our favorite restaurants. AB Indian is one of those places. We were greeted by the owner and it was nice to know that he still remembered us. The place was a little busy, but we had no problem finding a table at this small "hole in the wall" eatery, located in an often overlooked strip mall facing the busy street of Stockton Blvd. We ordered some of our favorites still present on the menu: Samosa chat, mattar panner, butter chicken, bangon bartha, pulao rice, and garlic naan. The food was still as delicious as we remembered! Prices went up a bit, but understandable this day and age! We are just glad that they survived the Covid 19 shut down! I have always gotten a delicious meal when o order the vegetarian combo. It comes with a veggie dish and a lentil dish, salad, naan and additional item in picture. I also ordered the veggie pakora and some ga lic naan. The meal came to approximately $21 and was delicious. It lasted me two meals. The staff is really nice and it was only 20 min wait which is how long it took me to drive there. I'm definitely going back and back to this restaurant. read more

One of my favorite place to come here and pick up some Indian sweets. I like the barfi regular flavor. Also one of those sweets with pistachios. . They weigh the sweets per pound is how they usually charge. I came here for Diwali 2020 to grab some sweets and omg I was overwhelmed with all the flavors and presentation with self served to put in a box and then they weigh it to charge. . I also grabbed some dinner for togo. . Pani poori - my friend thought it was different . I loved it because it has different texture and filled with liquid and is sour. . Butter chicken curry - buttery and creamy and saucy good. Great with rice and dipping stuff in it. . Shrimp briyani curry - the rice was flavorful and was lacking in shrimp but luckily I made some myself on the side to add to it. . Samosa chat - it was soggy when I got home which is like a 10 min drive. So best to separate the yummy sauce on the side. . Lamb saagwala curry - this was hearty and flavorful and just remind me of saag paneer. . I also dine in here for some thali plates and it was yummy. Basically you choose 2 entree and comes with rice and yogurt. It was like 12 bucks which was a good deal in my mind. Also had a very good time with my Indian friends. . I didn't realize the time because they mostly close at 9 o'clock, but they insisted Me to put a water anyways it took 20 minutes for the water to be prepared for me to go pick it up when I went home oh my God The biryani was so bad. Ordered via DoorDash and that was probably my biggest mistake but I was still testing positive for Covid and didn't want to get anyone else sick. GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE! Recently we had a huge family gathering. To make things fun, I wanted to get a big laddoo (1 kilo). No one in my family has gotten big laddoo here and people Told me that I might not be able to get it. I called couple places and they said they don't make big ladoos. I was searching for more Indian sweets places and stumbled about AB Sweets. I called them to ask about the big ladoo and the employee who answered the call was very helpful and informative. He told me he can make it as big as I want and I was content after listening that. I ordered a ladoo weighing about a kilo. What I liked most about their customer service is that he asked every details for the laddoo for example asked if it was okay with almonds and pistachio inside or the outside etc. When I came to pick the ladoo up, I wanted to laddoo to be covered completely because I didn't want to show anyone until the event. But because the ladoo was so big, the covers didn't fit the case and the employee went ahead and covered it up with the aluminum foil. At the event people were surprised and loved how the ladoo looked. When we tasted it, it was delicious. I definitely recommended this place not only for the sweets but also for their customer service! read more

The appalling fact is when I called to ask them about this they denied that they even sold anything other than veg samosas. I again said how could we have received anything else if we ordered? The lady finally said we do sell lamb ones but we didn't today. I even asked for a cell phone number to send them a photo and I called again she said we can't tell if it is lamb. I don't understand the need to lie and deny over something that's obvious. This place absolutely sucks!! First the menu on yelp is not updated with the current prices. The updated menu a few of the price were hand written in. The people are not wearing masks! That's not COVID safe!!! A few that are are wearing it on there chin!! Also, I had a pretty big order yesterday and they made Nan that my dog even refused to eat. In other words absolutely uneditable!! I ordered 10 orders of garlic nan if you look at the pictures it doesn't have butter (the one that does was put on by me to make it soft and eatable but that didn't work. ) on them they are dry over cooked and burnt some as hard as a rock! The other food was ok if you like it swimming in oil and heartburn afterwards. When I called to complain about my nan they said "we don't give refunds." I said can you replace my order for the Nan's and he "yes, we can do that. Just bring your other Nan's in so we can check them." I said "okay, please replace my order and I'll be there to pick it up." When I got to the restaurant "the lady wearing her mask on her chin said in Hindi "is this the Nan person/lady?!" The man that helped me last night said "yes!" and then tapped his hand on the counter for me to put the my burnt Nans. I came over and put them on the counter and told them "it was really bad and burnt with no butter." He took my order that I brought back to the back in the Kitchen and then told me that "4 were missing." I showed him pictures of the 4 we tried eating and he said " that I can only replace the ones that looked bad to him and he will give me back the rest and it's supposed to be like that." I said that's fine you can keep my order!" Who the hell wants someone going though there food not masked or gloved examining there order and then giving it back saying there is nothing wrong with the rest!! Yuck!! They still use a super outdated cash register the last time I checked and don't give you an itemized receipt. I always double-check their math before I pay, because I've almost gotten overcharged like.. 4 times :/ Tips: - Avoid coming/leaving during rush hour! The street you turn in/out on gets ~so~ trafficky; It takes forever to get onto the suicide lane. - Bring (and pay with) cash! Recently they started implementing a 3-4% charge if you pay with card. - Pull up your calculator app to check your total (the reason above)! - As of 1/6/2020, they still have their check-in offer (free naan bread) and Restaurant.com certificate ($2 for $5) up! I called the store right away and they were totally fine giving me the correct order that I intended to place originally . Ordered garlic naan, butter chicken, samosa, and papdi chaat via DoorDash. The butter chicken was rancid and smelled like fish broth. I still, for some reason, took a bite of it. We were appalled. the meat was clearly spoiled. The samosa was edible, but not much flavor in the boiled potato. The papdi chaat tasted like canned chickpeas were used, and chutneys were watered down. I am just really happy our toddler didn't try the chicken. We immediately disposed of it and DoorDash kindly refunded us for the chicken. I am extremely disappointed given the glowing reviews for this restaurant. So the first time I was at this restaurant for dinner, a cokroach flew into our dinner from an opening in the ceiling!.. this was last year or so. Today I decided to give it another shot. I wanted some sweets. Went n got 2 lbs of assorted barfi at $7.99/lb. Came home all ready to enjoy the barfi and found mould on the barfi. Yes mouldy barfi not just one but a few. They were sticky when I picked em up n that's what caused me to check them before putting it in my mouth. And I'm glad I checked!! I don't understand why Indians do this! I didn't pay them moulded money then why do they think it's ok to serve that kind of food. This place sukz!! It's awful that they do this. I will be going back to get my money back. After seeing the snow and visiting the temple, we decided to have lunch here at this restaurant. We always found a south indian restaurant to eat at, but never ate at a Punjabi restaurant, so we had a new experience here at A B. We were three people and ordered two main dishes: bhaingan bharta (eggplant) and lamb punjabi (something new). What caught my attention in the food was the fact that it actually felt like real Indian food-- spicy and flavorful. I even found myself telling my mom that it tastes similarly to the indian food she cooks at home. I just don't like restaurants that cook food that is just to please everyone who never tried this before. I like it in its true Indian state. You don't really see other continental dishes cooked that way. I ordered the salted lassi for the first time, and I recommend that to people who are health conscious and want to drink that to digest their food haha. OH yeah, and another quick tip-- don't order too many naans because they are really big! We ordered 6 and 3 was definitely enough! We ended up taking the extras home. My dad loved the masala chai. Good chai= good experience at an Indian restaurant always. read more
