Chicken Tikka Kebab
Neeta S.

I like this place, the food is great, prices are fine, my husband and I eat here from time to time and sometimes order take out. (This was probably the 2nd or 3rd time for take out.) Disappointed with the Chicken Tikka Kabab. I guess I expected tandoori kabab like it was pictured. Still gonna come back though

Gobi manchurian

This is some of the worst Indian food I have ever had. We ordered over the phone, they told us it would be 20 minutes. Once we got to the restaurant we waited an extra 30minutes. The food was flavorless and lukewarm. The Gobi Manchurian was soggy and such a small portion. Do yourself a favor and go to another place for.

I don't often update my past reviews, but after getting through a year long pandemic, I felt like now was a good time to write another, after a long dry spell. It's nice to say that things haven't changed much, especially the food. Unfortunately, the owner went through tough times and business was touch and go as most restaurants had to face. But we were happy to see that they were still alive, even though we pretty much stayed home and social distanced. We finally emerged once again to visit some of our favorite restaurants. AB Indian is one of those places. We were greeted by the owner and it was nice to know that he still remembered us. The place was a little busy, but we had no problem finding a table at this small "hole in the wall" eatery, located in an often overlooked strip mall facing the busy street of Stockton Blvd. We ordered some of our favorites still present on the menu: Samosa chat, mattar panner, butter chicken, bangon bartha, pulao rice, and garlic naan. The food was still as delicious as we remembered! Prices went up a bit, but understandable this day and age! We are just glad that they survived the Covid 19 shut down! Routine visits here are back in our future schedules!

Salad, black bean lentils, naan. And

I have always gotten a delicious meal when o order the vegetarian combo. It comes with a veggie dish and a lentil dish, salad, naan and additional item in picture. I also ordered the veggie pakora and some ga lic naan. The meal came to approximately $21 and was delicious. It lasted me two meals. The staff is really nice and it was only 20 min wait which is how long it took me to drive there. I'm definitely going back and back to this restaurant.

I ordered 2 orders of chicken biryani. they gave me one container with one serve of biryani. and when I asked where's my other order they said oh it's both orders in same container. ! what a rip off . and it was just a small amount in the container did not look like 2 orders. one of my colleagues did not get to eat his order. don't order from this place. they are rip off!!

Diwali dinner

One of my favorite place to come here and pick up some Indian sweets. I like the barfi regular flavor. Also one of those sweets with pistachios. . They weigh the sweets per pound is how they usually charge. I came here for Diwali 2020 to grab some sweets and omg I was overwhelmed with all the flavors and presentation with self served to put in a box and then they weigh it to charge. . I also grabbed some dinner for togo. . Pani poori - my friend thought it was different . I loved it because it has different texture and filled with liquid and is sour. . Butter chicken curry - buttery and creamy and saucy good. Great with rice and dipping stuff in it. . Shrimp briyani curry - the rice was flavorful and was lacking in shrimp but luckily I made some myself on the side to add to it. . Samosa chat - it was soggy when I got home which is like a 10 min drive. So best to separate the yummy sauce on the side. . Lamb saagwala curry - this was hearty and flavorful and just remind me of saag paneer. . I also dine in here for some thali plates and it was yummy. Basically you choose 2 entree and comes with rice and yogurt. It was like 12 bucks which was a good deal in my mind. Also had a very good time with my Indian friends. . This spot is a hidden gem and if you want to try somewhere new and in the mood for Indian food give them a try. Thanks for reading and have a yelptastic day!

Ordered via DoorDash and that was probably my biggest mistake but I was still testing positive for Covid and didn't want to get anyone else sick. Received my food and I only got a few pieces of chicken and by a few I only mean 3 and a half pieces of chicken in my butter chicken (the picture is the other two pieces of chicken I fished out from my 16 oz container) and a ton of curry left over :( it was strangely sweet and lacked the Indian spices I'm used to tasting. Very disappointed by this meal.

Piss poor quality. Put out ice cold food from days ago in the buffet. Went with relatives for lunch and got trash for food.

It's not often that I visit autehtic Indian cuisine…read more I grew up Texas and the Bay area most of my life and honestly only visited buffet type establishments in the past. Recently moving to Elk Grove, I was was surprised to see so many different restaurants and multiple food choices. That said, our group last night decided to try Indian food. Wow! And I mean a big smiled tummy rumbling WOW!!! Indian oven is the beast Indian food I have ever tasted! As you know, in my previous reviews, I have also taken into consideration, the ambiance, the restaurant cleanliness (Including the restrooms) and also the staffs demeanor when submitting reviews. I must admit, I am not surprised that this restaurant easily deserves five stars - on all points! If it wasn't for our server "Rinku", our group would never have realized the meticulous efforts made by ownership and staff in presenting so many varied and wonderful tasting dishes we were not previously aware of. In that, I mean, that when you go to a new restaurant, you look at the menu and you take somewhat of a chance in experiencing dishes that sound good, but having no previous experience/s there, may not receive the best tasting meal on the menu. Rinku not only explained the dishes and ingredients, he also gave a little bit of history and process involved into preparing such wonderful tasting meals - throughout. He took the time to answer our questions with as much detail, history, that was necessary for us to understand how much goes into making exceptional Indian cuisine. He highlighted the nuances involved in the preperation processes, the cooking methods, and the reasoning behind obtaining/ producing such differing textures, depths, and tones of flavors. And pointedly, I noticed that everything was very fresh, possibly and most likely made with heartfelt love for India Ovens' patrons. Once again if it wasn't for Rinkus' recommendations, we would not have known what to choose, pertaining to our personal likes, and to be honest, spiciness and heat tolerances of each individual in our group. From this point forward, I will not have any predetermined expectations of what food quality and/or flavors should/could taste like. Amongst our group, we ordered approximately eight different menu items, each with very specific and distinct flavors, and as mentioned before, wonderful textures. I (Rarely and highly) recommend family, friends, colleagues, and the general public to come here, not once, twice, but often, to experience the full menu - all in its time. I recommend that you come and experience wonderful savory Indian cuisine like no other. Thank you Rinku!

The only reason why I don't rate it 5 stars, is because when I usually order, I order to go, and they seem like they really don't care too much, when it comes to the customer service part of it. Could be because they may think I'm a delivery driver, who knows? The food itself is always good. I usually have a seafood dish, along with some samosas and some type of naan. I just get my good food and go about my business. In the end, my tastebuds thank me for it.

Ordered chicken tikka masala which tasted really weird and nothing like it should have. It's our go to item and every Indian restaurant and we were disappointed in the flavor. Saag was decent. Garlic naan had some burnt pieces but overall fine. Service was VERY slow. The one guy working the front and kept running to the back. One table had to get up and get their own glassware and then had to ask for water. The table behind us, kept getting up and waiting for the guy to come out so he could ask his questions. Once we were visibly done eating (plates moved aside, napkins on top) we sat around waiting for a while. Finally asked as he walked by for to go boxes. Then another waiting game for the check that never came. Ended up waiting at the counter so we could pay leave. I think we ended up being there about an 1hr 10m for what was supposed to be a quick lunch. By the end, my kid said we can never try another Indian restaurant and have to stick to our usual spots. I don't know if it was an off day or what, since other reviews were mostly good but we won't be trying again. For those who do, there are about 4 regular booths and one for a larger party.

Some locations have come and gone over the years, but this South Sac spot has stayed pretty consistent. The food is classic Pakistani style. Nothing fancy, just straightforward, well-executed dishes. I have had a lot of their menu and most of it hits. The kabobs are always a strong choice, the biryani is flavorful and satisfying, and the chicken tikka masala is decent. Not the best I have ever had, but definitely solid enough to enjoy. It is not mind blowing food, but it is reliable. You know what you are getting, and more often than not, it delivers. One thing I will say is that not all locations are the same. The Natomas one, for whatever reason, just does not hit the same. This South Sacramento location is the one to go to if you want a good experience. The vibe is pretty casual and no frills, which fits the food. Area is a bit rough but that's to be expected in this part of town. Overall, if you're craving solid Pakistani food in Sacramento, this is a dependable spot. From the moment we walked in, the difference was immediate. We were welcomed warmly, treated with respect, and genuinely made to feel like valued guests. The space itself was beautiful--elegant tables with tablecloths, glass tabletops, and a warm, inviting atmosphere that felt thoughtful and intentional. They even turned the TV on for us and created a space where we could truly relax. And the food? Absolutely incredible. The meat was tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection--every bite was delicious. You could taste the care in every dish. They also took time to talk with us about the menu, introduced us to desserts we hadn't tried before, and even shared music that made the whole experience feel like a cultural exchange. Earlier that evening, we had walked into a different restaurant excited to eat, only to be told they had "closed early" despite posted hours saying otherwise. The interaction left us feeling unwelcome and hurt. Unfortunately, it's a feeling we recognized--and one no one should have to experience when simply trying to enjoy a meal. That's why Tandoori Grill & Kitchen stood out even more. Not only was the service kind and genuine, but the restaurant itself was far more beautiful and inviting than the one we were turned away from--and honestly, thank goodness for that. What started as a painful experience turned into something truly special. There's a lesson in this: go where you're celebrated. Thank you, Tandoori Grill & Kitchen, for your generosity, the extra treats, and for reminding us what true hospitality looks like. You turned our night around. We'll absolutely be back.
