Spike actually caught that the flooring our builders had given us could not have been what we had because of the locking mechanism we from an email we were provided. He was so knowledgeable and worked with outside resources to make sure we had the correct flooring ordered and installed. I was really hoping to have one guest bedroom done before thanksgiving as we were having guest stay with us and they made an extra effort to get that done! We changed our 1st floor and fireplace. floor fireplace baseboard. We went to both box stores, liquidators for estimates. We ended up with this company because of the below reason. During planning, we were allowed to borrow 2'x3' size samples to put in the space. While we are at it, Spike came back with other fireplace tiles he thought might be helpful without even us asking about it! So great. We were able to see the how the material grain, board width works in proportion to the space, and how it reacts to the sunlight inside the space which makes a huge difference. No middleman, Spike although he doesn't do the installation he oversee the work to make sure things work out just the way you had communicated. Pretty straight forward. They know the right person do the job. If they mess up, he probably knows who to fix it. Clear but minimal communication. There was a time when I wanted to add something that was costly, they communicate to us clearly what can be done and what can't. Also there is no salesman feel to the showroom, everything is comfortable every time we walked in. We are glad we chose this company for below reason: During demo, we found under existing vapor barrier, there were moisture condensation; after a 5 minute talk on the phone with the installer and confirming the change of price, Spike shows up with a sealant. For the installers he is the best we have worked with in this house renovation experience, he is professional fast and courteous, and most important does beautiful work. They installed in a day, came back the next Monday to put the baseboard, and finish the floor they protected the floor when they have to finish the fireplace. The process is clean and organized. I can imagine them doing it in already moved it home without stressing over the family out. Overall they did it with minimal communication, showed on time if not earlier and good quality workmanship. I am giving 5 stars for laminate and 4 stars for tile. We needed new flooring throughout the house except for the kitchen. After shopping around for estimate (Home Depot, Lumber Liquidators & Abbey Flooring), we decided to go with Abbey Flooring (although Abbey was the most expensive quote we got). My husband was really impressed with their customer service and showroom. We were really excited to finally have new flooring; we chose tile and laminate. The laminate flooring looks really amazing. The installers really took their time to make everything look seamless. I'm really impressed how they did our stairs. Home Depot was scrambling when they saw our stairs saying it was a difficult job and it will be hard to find installers for it in the area. Spike was really great trying to give a nice layout for installers on how to do our stairs. We didn't hear that "it's impossible or difficult" but Abbey just got the job done. I was upset at first when the tile job was finished because of the unevenness of some of the surface. Apparently that this is common with long plank tiles. Spike worked with us to make sure we are satisfied with our purchase. They did replace the tiles in the whole front room. The replacement looks really nice even without the caulking. Very satisfied with it. I would give them 5 stars if they have done the job right the first time. It became a hassle because of having to move the furniture back and forth. Also if we were given the heads up regarding possible unevenness with long planks, we could have just chosen a different material. Overall, had a great experience with Abbey. After having no real good answers to my flooring challenges from several other local contractors, I reached out to Spike at Abbey Flooring for a long term solution to my poor condition floors. I'm a bit late getting this review out but felt the folks at Abbey Flooring earned it. A little over a year after having our flooring installed, my wife and I found ourselves commenting on how much we really liked our flooring and how well it has held up. Back in late 2018 we found ourselves in need of replacing our flooring. After multiple calls, visits to different showrooms, stores, and outlets, and a couple of estimates we settled on Abbey Flooring. From the showroom to the final nail being placed, their customer service was top-notch. Our main point of contact at the store was Spike who was very knowledgeable, friendly, and patient (the rest of the group in the store was just as nice). As usual for us, it took quite some time to decide on the final product. We returned to the showroom multiple times to have questions answered and to pick up different samples to take home. Never were we made to feel like we were bothersome. Whenever we called Spike was quick to respond. This process to weeks but eventually we signed on the dotted line. However, as mentioned, the great customer service continued. We asked if we could have the work split up (we wanted to paint before the new floor went in). Spike's response, "absolutely". The installation crew (who was very respectful of our home and ourselves) came in removed the old flooring and leveled the slab. After the painting was done they were quickly back to finish the job. And, a job well done it was. One last point about what a great group this was to work with. I needed to do some work on one of the walls in the house and asked that the baseboard be left off. Once the work was done I was having trouble getting to the baseboard to fit properly. I called Spike up to see if they would be willing to help. Spike says, "of course". No sooner did I hang up with him that I was getting a call from Constantine (he is the lead/owner of the installation crew) asking how he could help. I told him what the issue was and he said he would be over asap. ASAP, I luckily find out, was his wedding day! No need for that I say, It's only baseboard. I cannot say enough good things about Abbey Flooring and their people. The walk in experience was good and informative. However, the measuring person was not the person we were told was coming and the follow up for the estimate was non-existent. I had to call and request the estimate. Then I had questions regarding the estimate, sent via reply to who sent the email with the estimate, and never received any response. We went elsewhere. When I returned the sample that I brought home, advising that there was no follow up and that we were going elsewhere, Spike looked surprised but didn't even ask who I was. We just finished a mini-remodel on our house and used Abbey Flooring for everything. I found them on yelp, and after working with Spike and everyone else at Abbey over the last few months, I'm happy to report that they really do deserve their great reviews! From the initial quote, to picking out materials, during the renovation, and the follow-up afterwards- Spike was awesome to work with. I'm probably a bit on the picky side and changed my mind about things on several different occasions- the ideal customer, I know- and Spike never made me feel like I was a pain. :) He was always available if I had questions and I felt like he was doing his absolute best to make sure I was happy with the final product. Even when a few issues came up he made sure they were fixed and I was happy with the outcome. He also went above and beyond on many different occasions. Driving all the way across town to pick up a shower valve for me, and dropping off a shop vac that I could borrow when my vacuum cleaner broke are just a couple of examples. Our mini-renovation consisted of new laminate downstairs (Mohawk rare vintage in fawn chestnut that I absolutely love), new carpet in the bedrooms upstairs, they cut down our kitchen island from a bar top to a level counter height, new granite, new backsplash, fireplace makeover, and new master shower. I'm so happy with how it all turned out! There are still a few things we'd like to do in this house and I'll absolutely be calling Abbey Flooring when that time comes. I needed to upgrade my flooring to prepare my house for sale. Spike was able to come that weekend to take house measurements and discuss various options for upgrading to laminate and new carpet. A few days later I went to the store to pick out the laminate and carpet and get the final quote. The final quote came in less than expected and was very reasonably priced. There was never any pressure and never any upsell. Spike was able to answer all my questions and make thoughtful recommendations. It was a 4 day project and he was even able to accommodate working around my painter's schedule. 2 years after our big installation, we can still count on Abbey to help us out. After an onerous 2-1/2 month effort with our local "big box" store, we got perfect flooring installed by Abbey Flooring....1 week after measuring! We are 100% happy! Had some tiling done in a bathroom. Tile purchase experience was fine. Problems started with the install--we had glass mosaic tile on one wall of the bathroom. - Installer (let's call him Installer X) left an excessive amount of grout that covered many of the matchstick tiles. I have included a picture of the problem. Keep in mind, most of the wall looked this way, not just a small section. - Installer X also ran out of tile for that wall, leaving us with a ~3-inch gap of wall at the top, which meant they would have to come another day to finish....that is, after a week or two for the new tile to arrive. - A black 'X' in ink was clearly visible on one of the tiles. I suspect this was a piece the installer marked for a cut, thinking it would be scrap, but then had to use it in an attempt to finish the job. - We had schluter metal framing put around a mirror inset on the same wall. The metal frame is a rectangular outline. Three out of four of the rectangle sides were fine--one solid piece of metal each side. For some reason, Installer X used two separate pieces of metal for the fourth side. This left an unsightly grout line cutting through the frame. The job looked like a DIY project gone wrong. I voiced my concerns to Spike and specifically requested that Installer X never be a part of any future work in my house. Next, a new installer, Installer Y, came out to fix the mess. He took one look at the metal framing to be replaced (one side) and said he didn't have enough material to fix this job. So we had to wait again. Material eventually arrived some days later and we were able to schedule an appointment. Guess who comes out to fix the mess? Installer X! Yes, the same guy I requested to never see again. I had to call the office to inform them I didn't want the same guy who botched the job to do the repair. Lady I spoke with was very nice, though I have forgotten her name. Shortly after, I get a call from "Chewy" telling me that they can't find anyone to replace Installer X for the day, so I'd have to reschedule. I called the office back to let them know, and they replied that they could make it happen. Eventually it got worked out and another installer, Installer Z, was sent over in the afternoon. Before Installer Z arrived, I got a call from Jim, the owner. Jim basically told me Installer X has been with them for years and does great work. I don't doubt he does great work most of the time, but I also don't doubt he did terrible work this time. Jim's attitude was more defensive than apologetic. Didn't leave me with a warm, fuzzy. Installer Z arrived, filled the gap at the top with tile, ripped out another section next to the metal framing, then reinstalled framing and tile. In the process of taking out tile, he inadvertently took off a layer of drywall off the adjacent wall. He showed me the damage before leaving and, instead of fixing it himself, gave me a can of drywall texture spray followed by verbal instructions of how to use it. I just chuckled and went along with it, knowing someone else would be out the next day to grout anyway, so I'd have that guy do the spray. Why the heck would I be the one to fix their damage? Very strange. Final installer comes the next day to grout. I couldn't take another full day of work off to watch. When I came home to see the finished project, the drywall had been patched, but not textured. And the spray bottle of texture they left me had been taken. Great. I had to buy a can of spray myself from Home Depot and do the final touches on the repair. Since there was excessive grout covering many of the tiles, I had to use a dental pick to painstakingly scrape it off. So far I have put about 5 hours into it and still have about half the wall to go. Overall, a pretty miserable experience. To his credit, Spike seemed sincere in apologizing and gave me a small discount off the price after it was all over. I'm hoping my experience was an outlier because I try to support local businesses, but I just can't recommend Abbey Flooring. read more

This place made my predicament manageable. I was desperately looking to match a granite tile I had to replace a few broken pieces from the side of the island in my kitchen. I only needed one tile and for it to be cut, because I did not have a tile saw. When I entered they greeted me right away and wanted to help. All the employees were friendly and knowledgeable. The manager knew what tile it was and proceeded to give me the only display tile that they had. They even cut it for me and gave me advice on how to install the tiles at no charge. If that isn't above and beyond customer service then I don't know what is!!! I successfully was able to repair my kitchen island. When I'm ready to redo my kitchen this place is my first stop.
