These guys are awesome. Spike was great to deal with. He showed us different floor samples based on what we told him we wanted. He offered suggestions, but didn't push any type of flooring on us. He was quick to come out and measure, and the ordering process was super easy. We had a contractor install the flooring (not affiliated with Abby) and he screwed it up. We told Spike, he sent his guy out to fix someone else's screwup in a jif. My only complaint is that we didn't use his install guy in the first place. I contacted Abbey's at my co worker's referral ; she was very pleased. I kid you not....I had about 5 different floor company's in my house displaying their wares....or trying. Good salesmanship is indeed becoming a lost art. When I went inside the store I spoke with both Spike and his Son (I'm sorry, I forgot the son's name). They both were very knowledgeable. Spike then came to my house a couple days later to speak with me some more regarding my flooring options. I happened to call Abbey Flooring in Elk Grove, and had the good fortune to connect with Spike. He sent a guy out to make the repairs as soon as it was convenient for me. My tile/grout repair is done, and Spike's willingness to take on a smaller job has ensured him and Abbey Flooring that they will be the first one I call when I have flooring needs in the future. I recently purchased some laminate flooring (Parma brand) and my experience was just Ok. I walked in & asked how much it would cost to install flooring in a 10x12 area. I was quickly quoted around $1100 which included the flooring & molding. It seemed very reasonable so I asked what are my options and was pointed to a general area of store that had a multitude of options. After perusing for a couple minutes I had questions about my options & this is when I should have walked out. Spike, the person in charge, told me all of my options were the same and it was all about what look I wanted. He told me this from the comfort of his chair across the room. He didn't seem to interested in actually getting up to make the sale. I noticed some brands advertised they were steam mop safe but others didn't so I asked was Parma steam mop safe and he said yes. I really liked that Parma was considered 'green' so I trusted him and bought the Parma brand even though Mohawk explicitly said it was steam mop safe. After installation was completed I decided to clean the area w my steam mop and quickly realized my brand new floors were not steam mop safe. Luckily I had extra laminate & my brother in law fixed it for me. Additionally, the installer for whatever reason, left pencil marks on my walls in certain areas? read more

This was a wonderful experience for us! From Spike, who came out and measured for our laminate and ultimately talked us into doing the garage conversion/laundry area and its two steps! Abbey Flooring installed 1200 sq ft of laminate flooring in September. Spike and Kat were a great help with answering questions and helping us decide which flooring to ultimately go with. They provided the pros and cons of the different flooring options and honest opinions unlike some of the other companies we spoke with. There was never any pressure and they were patient in allowing us time and the use of many in-home samples to make sure we got the best flooring choice for us. The estimate for the work was close to the other estimates received, but Spike did match and slightly beat the lowest of the bids in the end which was appreciated. The installers, two brothers, did a great job with the demo work and application of the pad, laminate flooring, and baseboards. They were patient with our install questions and very courteous at all times. My one disappointment, and reason for the one * rating loss, was the painting of the baseboards. I went to great trouble and expense to find and provide paint that would best match the existing trim that was not being replaced, and it was apparently sprayed on very quickly and thinly which creates what I call a "splatter" finish. Instead of being fairly smooth like the existing trim and how a full gloss paint should set up, this finish is rough and sandpaper-like which also scuffs more easily. It probably dries faster and saves time, but it's a poorer finish. I also wasn't thrilled that it looked like a lot of paint may have been spilled based on the condition of the can brought back to me. I ultimately had to buy a replacement can to keep the leftover paint in because of how much paint was spilled and built-up in the lid area and down the sides of the can. read more

I ordered more than 500 square feet of luxury vinyl planks from a big box store to be installed in my house. When their installers came and ripped out the carpet, they found a less than perfect subfloor and refused to continue with the installation. They even said that my floors wouldn't be suited for anything other than carpet, or tile after extensive prep work. I set up a return for all the flooring materials from that big box store and went out to search for help with my now bare cement subfloor. I found myself at Abbey flooring after not knowing where else to turn. I spoke with Spike, who was able to consult with his installer about my floor. He even came out to look at my floors after he closed the shop that afternoon, just to be sure that my floors would be ok for vinyl installation. With a little bit of patchwork, my subfloors were prepped and ready for the beautiful luxury vinyl planks that I decided to purchase from Abbey. They were even able to overnight the flooring of my choice and install it the very next day. Abbey flooring's installer, Sam, did a beautiful job and worked very quickly. He arrived at my house at 8am and was done with my floors by 4pm. I am so in love with my new floor! The customer service at Abbey Flooring is phenomenal. Both Spike and Sam went above and beyond to make sure my floors are best they can be, even with the limited time I had to have the floors installed. So I have known Spike for almost 20 years and we were finally ready to give him some of our business during a major remodel of our home. The beginning of the process was super smooth. Spike came out to take measurements then we started the process of picking out the actual floor. This is probably the most stressful part as you need to look at the flooring in your home with a few sample pieces and imagine what it will look like with the new color schemes of a remodel. Anyway, Spike brought multiple samples directly to the house on multiple occasions as we narrowed down the choices. After settling on a relatively new product we scheduled the install among all the other trades working on the remodel. Installation was done well with super attention to detail. After the job was complete we did have a few bumps with what was determined as a manufacturer defect but as always Spike and his team went above and beyond to rectify the issues and satisfy their customer. In the end we are ecstatic with the final product and the floors in our home are both beautiful and are performing well. My wife and I moved into a fully carpeted house. Our dogs did not enjoy the moving process and repaid us by urinating on every piece of carpet that we had. Never having any sort of dealings with flooring, I was a little apprehensive. The sales manager, Spike, walked us through, no kidding, one of the easiest buying processes ever. And I am picky. Super picky. We picked out our materials, Spike got the crew out there super fast and it was in, finished and taken care of ON TIME. Now here is the clincher, Spike noticed that we had a fire place, which for some unknown reason, was tiled the same as the floor adjoining it. It washed out any charm that the fireplace may have had. Spike gave us an insane price on retiling the fireplace ,and it came out awesome. A few weeks later, being the genius that I am, broke the dishwasher, then tried to put in a new one, without regards to the newly installed tile. I had to break the new tile to get the dishwasher out and the new one in. I told Spike my dilemma and he had someone over within hours to fix my embarrassing attempt at home repair. I am not a paid spokesperson, I am just a very bitter old man who happened to have an amazing experience here. And there is not much that I like out there. read more
