When I decided to replace the decades old carpet in the 1971 Carmichael house I grew up in, with a real 3/4" tongue and groove oak floor, I reached out to Blue Ribbon flooring. An older contractor I had started with had to pass on the job by no fault of his own due to a medical condition. I was worried it would be hard to find someone with the same level of knowledge. My main reason in choosing them was because they JUST do real hardwood floors. I had lived pretty much only in houses with hardwood floors my entire adult life up until this point so the ease of care wore off on me. Also being an amateur carpenter myself, i had an appreciation for the trade. I was definitely correct in this approach. For one thing, they run a clean operation, literally, there wasn't a speck of dust getting out of the work site due to them using a very high quality dust capture system, which if anyone has ever worked with hardwood, you know how much fine and microfine dust it can generate. They also got me a really good price on the wood flooring which was partially timing but also conscientious attention to detail before starting the job. The rest of the review is basically their quality craftsmanship, as you can. see from the photos they did a very tight, undercut of the rock fireplace in the room they were doing the install and I still marvel at this. In the end. the floor looked as if it had always been there. which to me, is a sign of success! I let them recommend. distinguished color and level of darkness and I'm glad I let them decide, because they matched everything color-wise to what was already in the house! I am on a fixed income and I had to get approval from other family members to do the work but they were really competitive price wise when it came to material and labor and in the end i got a more expensive floor for less than it would have otherwise cost, especially since I opted to do the demo of the original floor myself before they started. But if you have them demo it, it's not that much more so that part is really up to you. read more

If you like disfigured floors, extensive scratch and swirl marks, wavy floor appearance, and overall poor workmanship, then Blue Ribbon Floor is for you (see photos). We gave him a second chance to resand and refinish, yet the same mistakes were repeated and new ones were created in the process. You can only sand so much until you wear down the floor excessively, yet Bob managed to do that to a floor that had never been previously sanded. You would think you got a great value out of their high-priced services, but their work is beyond subpar. Their irreparable and irreversible damage to our home has required us to replace this otherwise new hardwood floor entirely. Now he's under active investigation by the CSLB for several violations relating to this project, yet he still refuses to make things right. Please think twice before hiring Bob. I am at awe that Blue Ribbon Flooring has so many 5 star reviews. We had some existing hardwood flooring refinished and added additional square footage into the rest of the living spaces in our home. The installers damaged the walls beyond belief- glue everywhere and dings and dents on new sheet rocked walls. The house was left unlocked and windows open multiple days after the crew left, even after asking to ensure house was closed and locked at the end of the day. There are cracks between boards and boards that don't even meet where the baseboard comes to the wall. The top seal coat is already peeling off in our living room. He blamed the poor workmanship on a material defect even after Mannington tested the floors and proved to him that it wasn't a material defect. We have been dealing with the floors peaking since June. Robert did not do a moisture test before he had his guys start layup no the new floors. Poor customer service. Robert prides himself on having the best stair guy, but his stair guy chipped the ends of the material when installing them and covered it with a dark marker to cover the chips. We recently purchased a very old home with carpet. We pulled the carpet up and found wood floors that were in okay condition but definitely needed some work. Blue Ribbon Flooring did an absolutely amazing job restoring them. They definitely take pride in their level of craftsmanship. It was pretty cool to watch them cut out individual damaged boards and fit new boards perfectly into place. They sanded the floors perfectly level and even went the extra mile for us - e.g., like removing some of the closet tracks so they could sand smoothly throughout our rooms. We bought a 1963 house that had been painted without careful masking, so in addition to regular wear and tear on the original oak flooring, it had paint everywhere. We had Bob and his crew do an abrade and re-coat. While it didn't get every scratch and stain out (we didn't expect it to), it got rid of all the paint drips and gave the floors a major facelift.
