an ice cream sundae
Deb B.

While not as physically nice as the newer Abbott's Custard stores in Rochester, this place is always a wonderful stop for an ice cream custard confection. Last night I ordered a caramel sundae on a twist base and couldn't even finish it due to its size. I love me some frozen custard! Staff are friendly and you may be able to find a coupon in the at-home mailers. Get there before they close for the season.

Vanilla and chocolate almond

If you want a little piece of dessert heaven, come enjoy custard at Abbott's. Wowsa, that vanilla is pretty damn delicious. Also tried the chocolate almond which had big chunks of almond. I think next time I'll keep it simple with a vanilla chocolate twist. Highly recommend

Me and my mom were shopping in the area and I had the idea for ice cream. This was the closest to us at the time. Tons of parking so no issue there. My mom wasn't sure if they had milkshakes but they had tons of options all based on a few basic flavors of frozen custard. She got a double chocolate milkshake and I got a brownie sundae. Man did they both hit the spot. The only thing that my mom didn't like was that they didn't do an egg cream. But she told the owner how and hopefully next time we are back she can try their take on it.

Even on a cold rain/snow mix of a day, Abbots is a good treat.

Solid experience. Outstanding custard. We will be back. Only bad thing is that it's a bit of a drive from Marcellus.

Yummy! Abbott's hits the spot (especially when you're weepy from dropping your son off at SU... but I digress). I ordered a single scoop of chocolate almond in a waffle cone and was handed a whole lotta ice cream in a handmade cone. It was delicious but much of it (and yet not enough of it) went into the trash. The frozen custard was the consistency of soft serve, incredibly creamy with lots of crunch from chunks of roasted almonds. The waffle cone was nice and thick without being too thick, sweet without being too sweet. Just right. My husband had a sundae and it was just beautiful. They have several sundaes to choose from or you can make your own.

We love Abbotts! What's not to love? The staff is always friendly and smiling. The location is good for seating and enjoy your custard, clean and they even offer water. My favorite? Chocolate Almond!!! Lots of almonds always make me happy. I can go with a sherbet pop, as they are small and light. The chocolate covered banana was not as good as thought it would be. It was rock hard, of course but the banana was not ready and you could taste it. The wheels are to die for. We just love the place and keep going back.

It's weird how you can live a life in fully devoted to getting ice cream whenever possible from…read morewherever possible and still find new places like this. I don't think this place has been around long at least, but we definitely missed in its prime this season. It's kind of tucked away on Nottingham in the Drumlins building. We tried to come here last Sunday. Their posted hours had them opening hours ago, but they were closed. We cried and cried, regrouped, and went to Carvel. They were open the next time we tried a few days later. It seems like a small setup and one-man operation, with a dozen or so flavors of Hershey's hard ice cream and standard soft serve. It's the last week of the season, so they were kind of winding down. I love Fall, but it's sad watching the ice cream places dwindle down once they've stopped re-ordering. And all the best flavors go first. I got a banana pudding sundae and added peanut butter sauce, because peanut butter banana. The banana pudding made a great sundae, and they put something that served as pie crust at the bottom. I wish I'd thought to slow down and see what it was, because it was incredible, but I ate it as quickly as possible. They don't seem to have a ton of selection on the regular menu (maybe they do specials when they're going full speed during the season), but I'd come back to try at least half the sundaes I saw if they're made as well as the one I had. My girlfriend got a milkshake and used banana pudding ice cream, and a scoop of peanut butter ice cream (I forget the name of it). It was an average milkshake she said, but the pb cup pieces in the ice cream and crunch coat added on top made it better. We threw in a counter cookie at the last minute. It was a lot bigger, but I'd compare the taste and consistency to a Wegman's chocolate chunk cookie. Soft and kind of chewy but with a super consistent texture. They're homemade, but have a less than homemade feel to them if that makes sense. We were extremely hungry and taking our ice creams home, so this was to keep us alive for the drive home. I'd have to see some compelling specials or be right in the area to come back here. It's better than a bare bones ice cream stand, but not enough to pull me in from the distance I drove to try it.

Nice servers, big portions of great ice cream! With two two-year-old grandkids who loved it too!read more

I tried to go into this establishment with my service dog and the woman said "no dogs allowed" when I responded that he was a service dog, she looked at the man working said "where's his vest". I said he wasn't obligated to wear one to which the woman responded "my allergies". I felt very unwelcome and I put the dog in my car and came back to tell them that not all disabilities were visible and their actions made me feel incredibly unwelcome and distressed. To which, the they chuffed while the customers laughed and the man said "all I did was ask you where his vest was". No sir, that's not all you did. It's really easy to Google the laws and to see that you can ask questions, ones that I will happily answer when done in a way that feels respectful. All I wanted was ice cream man!

I wanted the speciality hot fudge sundae but it wasn't on the board but she said no problem she would make it in the bigger container and put a lot of fudge throughout it. It was amazing!! A large amount of ice cream and the hot fudge was delicious. They have a small seating area inside and a few small tables outside. It's a destination for me because it's like a 45 minute drive. Whenever I'm in the area I will for sure stop in!!!
