Lovely little ice cream downtown, generally relatively easy to find parking near by. I believe all the ice cream is homemade, they nornally have a handful of vegan options as well. Not sure if the waffle cones are homemade but if you eat ice scream slow like me-they are slightly thicker than normal which prevents your ice cream leaking out the bottom. I highly suggest the chocolate dip cone . They have a cast of rotating classic and seasonal flavors. Employees are always friendly and willing to answer any questions. What a cute ice cream spot! This was my first time going to The Ice Cream Stand, and I loved it. There was a book on the counter with inspirational quotes, goofy sayings, and doodles filled by past and current customers. They have a variety of homemade hard ice cream flavors, soft serve, and toppings. The vanilla soft serve and waffle cone both had great flavor to them. The shop was clean, and the service was great. The only sad thing about this place is they only open Thur-Sunday and i like my ice cream throughout the week but i guess they're helping me keep my weight haha. I had their soft serve ice cream and Wine ice scream (21+). Their soft serve is creamy and smooth. Better than DQ, McD or Chick-fila ice dream. Their Wine ice cream is light and delicious. It was wonderful going to an event here and meeting Amanda, the owner. She gave us great background about her business and concept. There will be one or more new flavors of her homemade waffle cones. Acai was my favorite, so fruity and the blueberry sorbet was so creamy and perfect with the acai. All the waffle cones are thin, light and crispy. The cinnamon flavor was amazing with the strawberry cheesecake ice cream. It almost seemed like a crisp crust for the rich cheesecake flavor. This place has the creamiest, richest, coffee flavor ice cream I've ever had. 10/10 My boyfriend and I came in on a late Saturday afternoon after walking around downtown and the blues and brews festival was going on. Luckily, this spot was open and when we got in there were so many options to choose from. The boozy options looked tempting but I decided to go with one of the recommendations that the person at the counter gave me. I ended up with the coffee by itself which was refreshing and rich. My boyfriend picked the s'mores flavor with cookie dough topping and he was not disappointed. We sat outside on some lounge/beach style chairs they have right outside of the shop. Enjoyed this place. Located in a safe part of downtown near Clinton Square and surrounded by lots of restaurant choices...making this place a no-brainer for dessert. Lots of metered parking in the immediate area, which are free after 6 PM. There are a few seats outside and a lot of seats inside. Prices are reasonable...($4 for a single scoop which is quite big). Went on opening day and was so excited to try their vegan ice cream! It's one of the few places in the area that has several options to choose from. The owner was so sweet when I walked in and you can tell she puts a lot of pride into her shop. I opted for the vegan mint chocolate chip and it was delicious! The texture was just like regular ice cream (which is hard to come by with dairy free ice cream) and the mint flavor was just right. I came on a hot day with family after a trip to the MOST. It is just a quick walk from most places Downtown. There were 9 hard flavors out today including dairy free/ gluten free options and a wine option. They make their own waffle cones. Flurries, ice cream sandwiches, floats, and shakes are also available. We got mint chip, lemon wine, and strawberry lemon sorbet. All were delicious. The downside is that the location is not labeled well. There is no signage with the name, just the hours and a hanging icecream cone that you could miss if driving by. read more

I attended an event here today and work made me so late that they were packing up. The owner was so sweet she brought out German chocolate ice cream from the back and still told me about all her new flavored cones. The cayenne chocolate cone was incredible- it offered a spicy kick to yummy, cold ice cream. The açaí cone smelled and tasted like a blueberry muffin. The cardamom cone is refreshing and cooling, perfect with any refreshing ice cream flavor. I think my favorite was the cinnamon cone because it's a classic and goes with any desserty flavor. I LOVE this place. I've been coming here since last September and have tried a fair amount of their ice cream flavors without disappointment. During my first visit, a man who I think was an SU student broke out into a mini break dancing session as he waited for his milkshake. If their ice cream calls one to dance, I'm all for it and you know it must be good. Their vegan ice cream -- so good. Mint chocolate chip -- a delight. Their fruit flavors, i.e. raspberry, et al, also so good. But, my personal favorite is the Chocolate Lover's Chocolate. My taste buds are immediately activated by this flavor and if they could, would also break dance. On my last visit, I got a vanilla soft serve. Yeah, it might seem boring, but it was soft, airy, and creamy. It truly hit the spot after a very decadent dinner. Once upon a time I worked downtown, passed this place often (during winter, it was closed) and swore I'd try it. Well, the warmer months came, and I was working at home. Every weekend I tried to motivate myself to get downtown, but couldn't quite find the inertia. Finally, I mustered up the momentum to drive down and try the place. The shop has safety protocols posted, and staff was very diligent about wiping down surfaces. The girls working behind the counter were very friendly and sweet. The menu is sizable but not too overwhelming. They serve Gifford's ice cream, a local brand. I opted for the cherry blossom flavor, which was scrumptious. Sweet but not too sweet, with cherry pieces. One of my most favorite places in Syracuse! Not only because of the sweet treats served, but because there are vegan + gluten free options for those with dietary restrictions. While the placement of this shop isn't ideal--it's in a strip mall so it's not hugely inviting to stroll around with your scoop--they make up for it with insanely friendly service and by working together with their neighboring shops to create a whole dining experience. They're next to a salad restaurant and a greenhouse and have some sort of arrangement where customers can eat inside the greenhouse. To make it even better, on sundays the stand invites local musicians to play inside the greenhouse as well. The owner also clearly loves what she does and came around to every table to chat and genuinely solicit opinions on how to make her outfit even better. My family and I chose to stop in during the Taste of Syracuse, we wanted to support a local business rather than one of the pop up ice cream stands. My young children wanted nothing more than an ice cream and were extremely excited. My son, 3, dropped his spoon so my husband went to get a new one. The owner gave him a plastic replacement spoon. In the process of getting my son a new spoon, my daughterage 7 also dropped hers while attempting to get a scoop of ice cream, frustrating and embarrassing I know! My husband made the walk of shame to ask for a second replacement spoon and was greeted with a very rude, and down right nasty response from the owner. She stated that her compostable spoons were extremely expensive, that supplies are hard to come by, and that had already WASTED three spoons. She refused to give us a new spoon, or even offer another solution, like perhaps washing the dropped spoon for us. She walked away, leaving my husband standing there dumbfounded. Apparently I was supposed to explain to ly 7 year old that she couldn't eat the ice cream she pined for all day because she had accidentally dropped her spoon. I am empathetic to the plight of local businesses, but come on! I just spent over $30 on your ice cream and you threw a temper tantrum over my children dropping your 5 cent spoons! Customer service goes a long way, I don't care how good the ice cream is. My family will spend our money on other local businesses that are family friendly! read more

This ice cream spot doesn't have a sign outside that says "the ice cream stand." Instead you'll see a giant cartoon image of a baby blue ice cream scoop on a cone. I tried the s'mores and peanut butter pie ice cream cake cones (two separate ice creams, on two separate cones). The scoops are large and the texture of the hard ice cream is creamy and soft. They serve soft-serve as well. I didn't realize there was another menu on the exterior of this place on the right side (that faces inward toward the garden center) so I may have missed out on a bunch of flavor options. There is outdoor seating with umbrellas and "indoor" seating in the garden store next door. The s'mores ice cream base was a Graham cracker flavored ice cream. There was marshmallow swirl and rectangular chunks of chocolate inside. I would have preferred that the chocolate be swirled in because the hard texture of the chocolate chips slowed down my ice cream eating. The peanut butter pie was nice because there were actual chunks of pie crust in it! It took a while for us to get serviced. We had to pop our head into the window a little bit. Perhaps the girl inside didn't notice us. There were lots of bugs/flies outside during the time I was at the stand. It made dining outdoors less fun. I didn't know you could eat inside where the garden was until after I had finished my cone. The nearby bushes also had lots of frogs in it (who were doing a terrible job of eating the flies). read more
