Philly Mier's Famous Steak And Cheese

Great food. Large amount for little price. Kind service! Excellent fries as well. This is probably some of the best roadside food I've ever had. Keep up the great work Jo Jo!

Great cheessteak, I wish they had indoor dining, but the place is small, definitely worth a drive one of the better cheesesteak down here

    Lots of Crab Lump!!

I was from out of state, visiting a friend in Millsboro, and I stopped in to get lunch at BK. However... this location is a hidden gem in the Burger King building by the drive-thru entrance. I checked it out and discovered the most amazing seafood takeout. I met Miers, who was running the location, who told me all about the entrees. I chose the Crab Cake sandwich and a cup of Cream of Crab. The Cream of Crab was simply delicious, large, and many pieces of Crab lump. The Crab Cake sandwich was beautifully presented. The Brioche bread was very soft, the Crab Cake juicy and scrumptious, with the aioli topping. I enjoyed it so much, I stopped back in later in the day for two quarts of Cream of Crab, to go. One for my local friend who hadn't heard about the location, and one to take home to my wife. I absolutely recommend this location. Wish they had these in Florida!!

According to my mother- Half rack of the best ribs ever

Visited Express after a work assignment. They offered a sample of the cream of crab which was delectable. I got it, the salmon, mac and green bean platter and it too was amazing. Great staff. Great food and the perfect motivation to visit the Salisbury location. That also did NOT disappoint. The ambiance was amazing and consistent with my initial experience. Both restaurants were likely the best Ive had in YEARS! 10/10 highly recommend.

    Excellent!

I can't pick what I liked best, the crab soup or the crab cake. I guess I'll get both my next time there.

The decor was simple and not over the top "oceany" as some tourist traps. I saw they were inland which I like. I try to avoid the neon wharf spots and I was so happy. I sat at the bar, which was full of welcoming locals and a tired traveling clown (me). The gravelly-voiced owner of I thing third generation paused a few times between sending out trays of steaming crab. He was a perfect blend of warm-hearted welcoming and hard-bitten tyrant. I went for the all you can eat feast at $69 (prices always subject to change) which comes with fries, hush puppies and coleslaw. I was assured the sizes were running large and it wasn't just a line. I was happy with the mediums. All I can say is they do crab RIGHT here. Fresh steamed ONCE so the meat is incredibly moist and succulent. And they just kept coming in trays of four. I ended up having a dozen which made it a deal at $69 compared at the price of a dozen à la carte. But who cares?!? They are blue crabs steaming and fresh and it was a feast. Side dish commentary: the fries are excellent. None of this cardboard tasting shoestrings. They were thick cut with skin on! The hush puppies classically tasty and the Cole slaw was not over dressed. Bonus!!! I can't wait to go back and try the she-crab soup and the bread pudding (highly recommend by my neighbor at the bar who is a local restaurateur).

I always appreciate when a business gives me insight like this. We promptly received our drinks and were informed of the specials, which all sounded delicious. We put in our order, and we barely noticed a delay in our food coming out. (But nonetheless we appreciated the heads-up!) I had the short ribs, and they were incredible. They were falling off of my fork because they were so tender! The mashed potatoes served with them were also great. The rest of our party ordered seafood, and everyone in the group raved about how good their dishes were. My only regret was that none of us saved room for dessert! Something that also truly stuck out to me: one of the managers noticed my grandma was cold and adjusted the temperature in the room in which we were seated. I know this isn't standard practice at restaurants, but I can't say enough how much it meant to us that the staff paid so much attention to us. Seaside Fish House is DEFINITELY on my permanent list of favorite places in Delaware now.

A rotation of 2 servers so we always had what we needed. We were in from out of town so the powdered sugar on the hush puppies were a little weird, but still pretty good. Very crispy and flavorful. Sweet, but good. The baby back ribs tasted fine, but there was barely any bbq sauce. After putting extra sauce on it, it was fine. The potato was not very good. The first one was partially black, but the immediately came with a replacement. But they were a little dry. The crab cakes were flavorful and pretty large and meaty. Not a lot of stuffing like filler. One is fried and one is broiled. Not much different between the two. Tasted great. Fries were really crispy. The admiral plate wasn't too bad. The shrimp was like cocktail shrimp and could use more seasoning. The fish was a tad overdone but the tartar sauce saved it. The tarter was probably the best I've had. Scallops. Same thing. A little overdone and needed more seasoning. The crab cake was great though. Might try this again.

The highlights (and lowlights): The service was awful: We arrived at 5:17 and were seated at 5:22. Drinks took 26 minutes to deliver and the order was wrong. My FiL clearly asked for a Pinot Grigio, but a Sangria was delivered. Cody, the server*, politely repeated that he ordered the Sangria, but that did not happen (my FiL drinks only dry wines). We waited to toast my in-laws anniversary, but had to wait another 7-8 minutes for the correct glass of wine to be delivered. There is no attention to detail in the dining room. The staff are on island time. The first appetizer arrived at 6:08--46 minutes after we sat down! At 6:20, I bussed our table. (After dinner, I bussed our table a second time). Even trying to pay the check Cody was MIA. He came by the table perhaps six times from 5:22-6:45. *There seems to be a lot of summer hires here--folks that want to hang out at the beach, but need to work to pay the rent. The training has be to incredibly minimal. I would guess no family meal, no 5-minute daily wine pairing rundown...basically no front of the house training. When the customer has to stack dirty plates and get a busboy's attention to grab them TWICE...not good, especially for the prices at Off the Hook. The food was quite hit or miss. The good: the crab bisque was excellent...really amazing! The scallop appetizer was also delicious with a base of grits and bacon underneath. However... The bad: we wanted to share the scallop appetizer and asked Cody how many scallops came with that. He said "three". The app was delivered with TWO scallops (Yes...TWO scallops for $19). They were not huge scallops...so 16/20 count. Wholesale, $18 a pound, less than a dollar each. To charge $19 for an appetizer with TWO scallops? Wow! The dish cost perhaps $3.25. A bottle of wine that retails for $15 is $30 in a restaurant. I get it, but marking up TWO scallops with some grits to $19 is insane. I asked the manager about the missing scallop. He advised that the entree came with three scallops--the app two. The entree was $39!! $39 for three scallops! If these were U/8 or U/15 scallops, I maybe could see it, but two 16/20 scallops for $19 and three for $39 is nuts. The pappardelle (appetizer portion) was completely flavorless. It was not cooked with any salt and pepper. It tasted like buttered noodles you find on a kid's menu. Adding salt and pepper (at the table) did little to fix it. My wife's pappardelle entree was equally bland. She tried mine; I tried hers. She looked right at me and said "There is no seasoning on this!". My thought exactly. My FiL had the salmon. He reported that it was tasty. While it was cooked well, $35 for an approximately 5 oz portion is again nuts. As a local, I really wanted to enjoy this meal. It was an anniversary dinner for my in-laws. $260 for four people with bad service and hit-or-miss food and the portions described is not good. I'm not a tourist. Lastly, I cannot forget to mention the FLIES. This is an INSIDE, white tablecloth dining establishment with $30-40 entrees, NOT a beachfront bar. 3-4 houseflies, accompanied by a gnat, joined us for dinner. Crazy. Bethany Beach, Delaware has limited options for dining and cars lined up 100 deep on the main road into town. This can be the only explanation for Off the Hook being so busy, so often. Tourists from NYC and Philadelphia don't bat an eye at paying $39 for three scallops. I don't know what other explanation makes sense.
