We were traveling and stopped here for lunch. It is a pleasant place with outdoor seating overlooking the creek. It was clean and nicely decorated. The staff were attentive. My husband ordered pork chops and I had pot roast. He said his was very flavorful and he enjoyed it. My dinner was superior. The pot roast was very tender and moist. It was served with well seasoned mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts. The veggie was excellent! They were tender and had just a little heat. They were candied to perfection and had a sweet and smooth onion which added even more flavor. The portions were huge. Kudos to their chef! Don't miss this gem. read more

After a long day at Johnny Janosik's furniture store, we took a look on Yelp for a suggestion and headed over (5 min away). The restaurant is situated on a little creek and has big windows that make the place bright. The calamari appetizer was delicious. My husbands meatloaf was a big winner too! After highly recommending this place for a ladies luncheon I was very disappointed to find out that they would charge us a "linen fee". What bad business, instead of waiving the fee for a confirmed 20 ladies they would rather lose the business. So sad! Today, with great sadness, we are saying goodbye to our once beloved Abbott's. After several disappointing meals-different days, different times, we wonder what has happened and have given up on trying. I have given 3 stars (instead of 1 or 2) because the people are wonderful, service is great and my hope is that they can re-capture their greatness. But, we won't be back for the foreseeable future. We've been meaning to check out the Abbott's when in Laurel (having eaten at the one that was in Milford), and finally had a chance to tonight. What a great first impression! Our server Heather was very friendly and took great care of us, and the food was both delicious and reasonably priced for the quality... catching the Saturday Happy Hour didn't hurt. I had the Cajun meatloaf and my partner the meat lovers lasagna, both delicious! We will definitely return when in the area, and look forward to eating at the charming outside area on the creek when the weather is warmer. read more

This was another good find in Laurel. I had the Sussex County Surf and Turf. The meal was good. The crab cake, toppings, and succotash were absolutely great! The chicken that came with the dish, was a little dry and chewy. My wife had the Potato Leak Soup, which was okay. The service was pretty good up until the point where the waitress forgot about us, and forgot my credit card and left it on the bar... The presentation of the food was very good. We went there several times and it was pretty good but we had reservations for a Sunday and we're going to stay for trivia. When we got there we were told that we had to sit in the bar because the dining room was going to be used for trivia in an hour. We said we were staying for trivia too but we're told that they were going to be full with the regular trivia people. And they were rude about it. Visited yesterday on our way back to NJ from VA. We wanted some lighter fare since we dined on southern BBQ the day before. The menu, prices, and ambiance were right up our alley. We initially sat outside and took in the views of the creek. Then the flies started to attack my husband. Our request to move inside was granted. The inside and the bathrooms were cleaned so it was ironic that we saw some flies inside, too. I even saw the kitchen cook swat at his head...it had to be a fly! Service was great. The food was fresh and delicious. We were really happy with our meals. On our way out, we bumped into a NJ native who asked how we stumbled upon this little gem. Of course, we said YELP! His mom was thrilled to meet us and gave us her church mints. I bookmarked this place so we can remember to visit when we are in the area. They seem to have fun nights with trivia and music, too. This cute, little place is a hidden gem. Such a eclectic menu with something for everyone's tastebuds. We sat outside on a beautiful Wednesday evening and enjoyed a half priced bottle of Chardonnay, mussels appetizer, a shrimp po boy and a blue cheese steak special sandwich. A local tipped me off to Abbotts. Wow, what a nice place! Seems like a restaurant you'd expect to find in Baltimore or DC, not in the middle of nowhere on the E shore. I enjoyed it so much that my girlfriend and I ate there two nights in a row. The specials menu changed between the two days, which was awesome to see. Happy hour had great local beers (RAR Country Ride rules). The calamari with edamame was fantastic! The charcuterie plate had a great selection of meats and very tasty cheese. Six of us ate quite a few things on the menu and nothing disappointed. It was all very good to great. Service was a little slow on Friday, but that's because the place was absolutely packed. Also, the Delaware State Champion bald cypress tree is right along Broad Creek a few steps from the parking lot. Super impressive! We will be back the next time we are on the shore! read more

My high school reunion was here! Came from California for the reunion and it was totally ruined by the host that "welcomed" me when I came in. I told him I was here for my high school reunion he replied no! Than I explained I paid for my ticket. He went and checked with the head person than explain what happen in front of everyone. I was so embarrassed I left early! Never ate or enjoyed the reunion. I than emailed Laura Burton and never got an answer back! Will never come here and see why people don't come here. This place was a little gem to find. Menu wasn't really robust but perfect spot to grab lunch or an inexpensive dinner. They had daily specials and we went for the pulled pork tacos and salmon tacos. We were given fresh made spinach chips (omg so good) and salsa as an app. (Free). Our tacos were perfect size and portion. Sides consisted of potato salad, pasta salad, or coleslaw. We went for coleslaw. This wasn't your original coleslaw. It was an avocado, white vinegar based - very good and a nice change of pace from the basic mayo coleslaw. Good spot. read more

We stopped for a late lunch. The restaurant is right on the water. The deck looks like a great place to hang out when the weather is warmer. It is a farm to table restaurant so the food is fresh. We each had a different dish - lamb shank, Cajun meatloaf, and pot roast. They were all very good and reasonably priced. Portions were a good size. We made our first visit to Abbott's last Friday evening. We heard many good things about it from friends, so our expectations were pretty high. We were not disappointed. Yes, their menu is limited. You will not find 100 different entrees like Cheesecake Factory or many Mexican and Chinese places. Instead, you find around 20 or so that are well prepared and nothing like you'd find on any chain restaurant's menu. It was a busy night, and there was no place to sit in the main dining area. So, the restaurant opened their events room and started seating people in there. Nice touch, and very flexible. The prices are a little higher than others, but not terrible. The food, though, was outstanding. Appetizers, entree, and dessert, and nobody out of our party of six left the table unhappy, disappointed, or hungry. We will be back. read more

This place was a total homerun! We have never been before and were very pleasantly surprised. Very friendly, sociable staff. Not fake cheesy friendly at all like some places. Our server was very attentive and well versed on the menu. She gave us great table service and was prompt at removing glasses and dishes as we finished with them. In again. Ordered chowda, crab cake with fries, and the crispy calamari... Chowda was great. Bacon flavor and very creamy! My review of the calamari stands...it is the best calamari dish in my 50 years on the planet. Crab cake is on a brioche bun with spring mix lettuce. Good flavors, falls apart though. Flavors were pretty standard (everything doesn't have to be unique).. Homemade tortilla chips were good...have a flavoring we can't figure out...salsa itself standard fare.. Excellent! read more
