Recently had a cavity filled and the experience was excellent as always. She's highly skilled, professional, and personable - the perfect combination you want in a dentist. Her prices are very reasonable, especially considering the high quality of work. The office atmosphere is great too. Joy, the office manager, has been there for years and is always helpful and pleasant to work with. They offer comprehensive services including teeth whitening, and every procedure I've had has been done with expert care. If you're looking for a trustworthy, experienced dentist in El Cerrito who provides excellent dental care at fair prices, I highly recommend Dr. Cao-Chan. *PLS LOOK FOR A DENTAL OFFICE SOMEWHERE ELSE.*…read more THIS IS A **Cash Grabbing Dental Office**. I've always had a bad feeling about this place, and after today, I am completely done. My husband and I had been patients here, and while they were initially polite, it quickly became clear that they only care about you if they can bill your insurance. It felt like a business transaction rather than a genuine patient-focused experience. I made an appointment for my senior father, who is already fragile and has several medical issues. I confirmed his insurance details with Bertha, the coordinator, who assured me everything was good to go. However, when we arrived for the appointment, she suddenly claimed they couldn't find his insurance as active. Instead of offering an apology for the miscommunication, I was blamed for sending the wrong insurance information, despite not being informed of any issue before the day of the appointment. I was told in a condescending tone that other people just pay out of pocket, implying it was no big deal to them. The attitude was unprofessional and hurtful, and I felt completely discriminated against. Bertha clearly showed no value for the time spent or allotted to patients. This place is focused on money, not genuine care. I will never return, and I urge others to find a dental office that actually values their patients. Don't waste your time here.

I was told at Dr. Bahrami's office that I had multiple cavities and needed a root canal possibly…read moreeven an extraction. The tooth in question already had a filling placed by this same office, and Dr. Bahrami (who isn't even a root canal specialist) told me it was now "too close to the nerve" and offered to do a root canal and crown for "super cheap." Instead of giving me a thoughtful explanation, he blamed me, raised his voice, and left me sitting in the chair mid-appointment with no plan other than "come back for the root canal." Something felt off, so I got a second opinion from an actual specialist and the result? I had no cavities, I did not need a root canal, and the tooth was completely healthy. Let that sink in. If I had trusted them, they would have drilled into a living, healthy tooth and pushed me into unnecessary, irreversible treatment. But this isn't just about one visit I've been going to this office since I was a child. I still remember being held down, barely numbed, and having dental work done while I was crying and terrified with no compassion. That memory has stayed with me for years, and I'm now 20. This office doesn't listen, they don't explain, and in my experience, they absolutely do not care about the patient only about doing the procedures they want to do. To make things worse, the receptionist never answered her phone and quoted me over $3,000 for multiple fillings I didn't need, plus a $1,500 root canal that was not necessary. If you're reading this and you've been told you need something major get a second opinion. It could save your tooth. It saved mine.

Waited another 20 minutes to see Dentist. Was told needed x-rays although had them done 6 months ago and declined. Was informed they needed to do their own X-Rays and would wave the cost. (we will see if this is true after reading the other posts) Dentist comes into room and starts poking my gums, letting me know I need an immediate deep cleaning. Keep in mind my last dentists told me I had great gums and teeth for years. Im no Dentist, and we have to trust our experts. However, I feel they are using unnecessary expensive treatments. Basically it was going to be $875 for 2 treatments for a cleaning. Agreed to a basic Deep cleaning for $100 as they said I needed this immediately.

What immediately concerned me was that when they were taking photos inside my mouth, they didn't even photograph the actual bump I came in for. I had to point it out myself and ask them to take a picture of it. The dentist looked at my X-rays very briefly and immediately told me that my molar needed to be extracted. She didn't really explain why or discuss any alternative treatment options. She simply said the tooth needed to come out as soon as possible, that the extraction would only take about five minutes, and then left the room. Implant treatment was mentioned, but the main recommendation was that I should have the tooth extracted as soon as possible. Honestly, I spent more time talking to the treatment coordinator about the cost of the extraction and possible implant treatment than I did with the dentist discussing my diagnosis. Having a tooth extracted is a major, irreversible procedure. Most dentists try to preserve a natural tooth whenever possible and carefully explain all available treatment options. Instead, I felt like the decision to extract my tooth had already been made without a thorough examination or any meaningful discussion. I was so uncomfortable with the recommendation that I went back to my regular dentist for a second opinion. They took new X-rays and told me there was some inflammation around the root, but that it was a fairly common finding and not severe enough to justify extracting the tooth at this point. They felt the tooth could still be monitored and treated without extraction. After reading the Yelp reviews, I was already concerned, and unfortunately my experience confirmed those concerns. The front desk staff were friendly, and scheduling and check-in were smooth, so I have no complaints about them. My issue was entirely with the dentist. I honestly don't understand how she could recommend extracting a tooth so quickly without taking the time to thoroughly evaluate the situation or explain the reasoning. I never felt like my best interests as a patient were the priority. This was the most irresponsible dental consultation I've ever experienced. If you are told that you need a tooth extraction here, please get a second opinion before making such a permanent decision. It may save your natural tooth.

I think it's normal for dentist offices to be slow, you should expect a wait anywhere and they serve a high number of patients. My appointment was at 9am and I finished X-rays and a cleaning at 10:45. They don't guarantee a cleaning at your first appointment but will try to fit you in the schedule. It's definitely worth a visit from the local health department. Several patients in the waiting area were coughing and my throat actually started burning after being inside just five minutes. 2. The waiting area is filthy. (I have photos.) It is not in good condition and it's apparent that it's not cleaned thoroughly. As a medical facility, this is unacceptable! The floor is disgusting. The area near the windows is covered in layers of dust and dirt. I don't believe they've ever cleaned their glass door. It's disgusting. I had an appointment at 8:00 am and to walk in as the first customer of the day to a dirty waiting room, is totally unacceptable. It's also proof that the facility wasn't thoroughly cleaned the day before. 3. They are never on time. I've had a wait even when I arrived 15 minutes early. This is unfortunate and clearly proves that they don't prioritize timeliness. 4. There are layers (literal layers) of dust and dirt on every blind. This is definitely not okay for patients that have respiratory problems or asthma. When was this facility last visited by the local health department? 5. I noticed many HIPAA violations by the front office staff. They openly discussed private patient info in front of a packed waiting room. This is unacceptable! According to their reviews, you can tell that my noticing isn't exaggerated. Do your due diligence and visit facilities before you make appointments. It's not okay to have to wait in an unsanitary space.
