Unfortunately, he was wrong, and I had to come back for another fitting and a different prescription. After trying the trial contacts, I called to let the office know they worked well. It then took three days for someone to call me back to confirm. Three weeks later, I still hadn't heard anything about my order, so I called again. Once again, it took three days to get a response because the office rarely answers the phone. I was told that my contacts had simply been on backorder and that they should arrive the following week. When I finally received a message saying my contacts were ready, I left work during my lunch break to pick them up, only to be handed the exact same single pair of trial contacts I had already been wearing. I had been under the impression that my full supply had been ordered and was ready for pickup, especially since Dr. Roden himself told me that once I confirmed the trials worked, they would order my contacts. Whether this was a result of poor communication or outright incompetence, the experience was frustrating, time-consuming, and incredibly disappointing. Patients deserve accurate information, timely communication, and a staff that is organized enough to follow through on what they promise.

I…read morecannot say enough good about the attention and caring the staff at CPEC provided to my adult son recently. Sadly, my son has suffered with mental illness for the past 11 years; the illness rendered him homeless over the past two years, resulting to his landing in Phoenix. In June, my son contacted me and let me know he was receiving help for his illness. And, in late July, I had the opportunity to travel to out to Phoenix from Dallas, to see my him and make a best effort to get him some of the things he was in desperate need of. Since my son had been without his eyeglasses since January and since he has always had a very strong eyeglasses prescription, being effectively blind and only seeing blurry images beyond about eight inches in front of his face, that which he needed most was eyeglasses! Because my son's prescription is so strong and because of his apparent mental incapacity, I did not want to take him to a store like America's Best or Lenscrafters, because I believed he warranted an extra level of attention, to achieve the best possible outcome. Well, after a little bit of reading reviews on Yelp* and weighing all options, I decided to give CPEC a call. Since I was only going to be in Phoenix for three days, I was elated when I was told that CPEC had an available appointment the following day. My son and I arrived on-time and were promptly greeted and given the necessary "new patient" forms. While I filled out the forms for my son, he was called to be seen. I was graciously invited to accompany him during the process. The examination technician who saw my son, was friendly and communicative, and when it became necessary for the technician to physically force my son's head and eyeball to be on the exact point it needed to be, in order to achieve the correct imagery, she showed compassion and gentleness in both her tone and touch. Next, my son was examined by Dr. Kelsey Harraghy. Dr. Harraghy above all, was equally compassionate and thorough! She was patient and attentive and, made me feel that my son was in the best of care. Her tone was gentle and caring and her bedside manner impeccable! Dr. Harraghy not only showed sincerity in ensuring my son's prescription was as exact as possible, but she also went the extra mile to find a contacts prescription that would work to give my son eyesight, until his eyeglasses order was completed and ready for pickup. The impact of Dr. Harraghy's caring cannot be overstated and it became apparent when my son placed the contacts in - having his sight restored after seeing only blurry for the previous six plus months - and his countenance as he observed himself in the mirror changed to one of an almost angelic quality. He appeared genuinely childlike and mesmerized at his ability to once again see. Thank you, Dr. Harraghy!! We then sat down to place the order for my son's glasses. Everything was presented with patience and caring and in a very low-pressure manner. From beginning to end, start to finish, CPEC took excellent care to ensure my son was made to feel appreciated and genuinely cared for. I am sincerely grateful for the staff at CPEC for showing my son and I the very best of humanity and kindness. Thank you, CPEC Staff!! I cannot recommend CPEC highly enough. This is where I get my eye exams and buy my contacts so naturally, it's super convenient to be able to order eye glasses here as well. I don't see a separate page to review their Optician's, which is unfortunate because my experience there was horrible. I have bought several pairs of glasses over the years at this location. The last time was 2016, so yes, five years ago. The older gentleman who used to operate this store was kind, knowledgeable, and professional. Unfortunately, the current optician, Shelley Jewell, is just the opposite. First, their selection is underwhelming: not many frames to choose from. I picked two frames and then it was time for "the numbers." My prescription is so strong that my lens cost more than the frames. Shelley proceeded to give me a price that I thought was "kind of high" but then again, the lens always make the price higher. However, I then asked her to review ALL elements of this order: + High Index (thin lenses) vs Polycarbonate (thicker lenses) + Blue glare (if you're looking at computer screens) vs regular + Photochromatic or adaptive lens that get darker once you're outside in the sun + Progressive lens aka invisible bifocals (yes if you're 40+, that might be a thing) vs. regular lens There are four pricing tiers to choose from for thickness of lens, the lowest index aka thickest lens to the highest index aka thinnest lens. Once she explained the pricing, I realized Shelley had given me the pricing for the highest index lens. Super presumptuous. When I asked her to please itemize so that I could see the difference in pricing, Shelley made a face, as if she was totally put out. She then proceeded to inform me that the frame would "show" the thicker lens and it would be heavier. Not new information for someone who's been wearing glasses since I was a kid and now investing in them as an adult for 30+ years. Do you think I don't know that? She's trying to talk me out of the thicker lens because she doesn't want to do all the different cost breakdowns. Which is her job. And she wants me to spend more money. Which does not fit the price point I mentioned up front. Getting the middle grade lens was the best choice for me, given my budget, which I shared with her. I've had the "Cadillac" of lens, the highest index lens, before, when I could afford it. But that was not going to be this pair. She proceeded to calculate the different prices and write them down for me. I was going to ask her to do that for the second pair but a coworker came in and she got up from the table, to socialize with that person. IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR TRANSACTION. Are you kidding me?
