Dr Cassidy is the best doctor I have ever encountered in all of my time going to different doctors and specialists. He is truly a wonderful doctor, he cares about his patients and he is genuine. The office however needs to be restructured. My daughter has mobility limitations and it is not a handicap environment. She had a hard tome getting through the waiting area back to the office & the way the chairs are set up you can't even get through. We had to wait an hour after dilating her eyes and there was no room to sit, we had to stand an hour. That is not acceptable for a disabled child. read more

I've been taking my kids to Dr. Cassidy for 17 yrs. He wasn't even our original doctor but after consulting him for a 2nd opinion I never went back. In their younger years both kids needed appointments every 3 months & I was more than happy to drive the distance between Scottsdale & his then downtown Phx office. It's hard to find doctors like Dr. Cassidy nowadays & he really is the best. Patients are too often treated like numbers & doctor's offices are increasingly run by corporations whose motivations seem focused on maximizing profits & time management. But Dr. Cassidy takes the time to get to know his patients & obviously cares about the children themselves, not just their eyes. Even if he gets busy & behind schedule, I never mind waiting because I know when it's our turn, he'll be patient & still give us as much time as we need. I have a three year old daughter with Down Syndrome and we have seen another Opthamologist (another doctor at another practice) until we tried Dr. Cassidy for the first time today. With the other doctor, we experienced challenges like long waits, difficult parking, a long walk, and a doctor that didn't relate well to my daughter. I am so glad we switched today!!! Dr. Cassidy and his staff were so awesome! We have definitely found our new "home" for eye care. The office is very easy to get to with parking right in front. The staff was friendly and everyone talked to my daughter (keeping her in a good mood). She loved Dr. Cassidy. He was quiet and gentle with her, making her laugh and smile. I was referred to Dr CASSIDY by a family member. My child has significant vision and visual processing issues that affect her daily life at school and her confidence. Dr Cassidy has been a lifeline to my child by helping to steer us toward specialists and testing she needs to pinpoint the specific issues and in dealing with the school to get necessary accommodations and services. He has been a lifeline to me as well in navigating these issues and in helping us do exercises with her at home. He has gone above and beyond what I've seen any other doctor do to help my child. He is extremely thorough and monitors my daughter closely for visual changes. He explains everything in a very understandable way for my child and for me. We feel overwhelmingly blessed to have found Dr Cassidy and I recommend him to all of my friends whose children have similar issues. It took almost a month to get an appointment because they kept loosing my sons referral paperwork! I figure this place came highly recommended, maybe it was a glitch in the system. I asked for directions and no one could even tell me what corner the office was located on! Once you walk in, the place is filthy! You wait forever to go back and sit in a little room with no air! The tech can't even put eye drops in my child's eyes! I had to tell her how to put eye drops in to his eyes. They put the dilation drops in his eyes three times, a little extreme! We were asked to move from the first room we were in waiting for the eye doctor because another patient needed that room. Waited again! The normal testing's were never done with him! They took my son's insurance for the exam, but they don't accept his insurance for the glasses. I ordered his glasses and was told it would be about 1-2 weeks, it was almost 4 weeks because their lab messed up his lenses. When we went in to pick up his glasses, they wanted me to sign a sheet stating that I know the prescription is correct, really! I am not an eye doctor!!!! They wanted me to sign off on a bunch of other ridiculous items, which I crossed out! We finally got his glasses about 2.5 weeks ago and they are already falling apart! The wire is jutting out from the arm that goes around the ear, the screws won't stay tight on the arms, the covering on the other arm is falling off. I tried to call, it was after hours so I knew I needed to leave a message, but there is no way to leave a message, there is only an answering service which will not take a message. Guess I will be calling my credit card company for a full refund as this pair of glasses was over $360.00 and they have not even lasted 3 weeks! Poor service, poor quality glasses, long waits, uncaring staff. read more

Went twice specifically to see Dr Cassidy, both times we were seen by the optometrist. She was nice, but I was expecting an evaluation by a pediatric ophthalmologist, not an optometrist. My child didn't need glasses. She has a lazy eye. I was extremely disappointed. I went and got a second opinion from a true ophthalmologist, and he completely disagreed with what the optometrist had recommended. Think twice before taking your children to this practice. read more

Dr. Underdahl really seems to be a great doctor. It is unfortunate that many of the office staff in the practice that he belongs to seem to be far from competent. They do not return phone calls, they do not have a voice mail system to leave messages, and most importantly they do not do what they say. I could possibly recommend this office for a second opinion when deciding on a procedure because I believe Dr. Underdahl is great. I would not actually proceed with any surgery facilitated by their office. My family has not done any surgical procedures here, but would be hesitant due to the extremely poor communication by the office staff. I would worry what would happen if we had questions or complications. read more

One of the worst experiences ever!! The place is filthy from the ground up not to mention very foul smelling! Waiting room chairs are so stained and dirty that I did not want myself or my children to sit down! I was told plan to spend an hr to an hr in a half for the appt which would have been ok if we weren't already waiting for over an hour to even be called back...2 1/2 hours of waiting in filth only to see the dr for a total of 4 minutes (yes exactly 4 minutes , i timed it ) I just pray that my children and I do not get sick from being exposed to this dirty unsanitary establishment. Dr. Cassidy has performed two different eye surgeries on two of my kids, and everything went beautifully! I was so impressed with his demeanor and expertise. He's professional and knowledgeable, and also kind and caring. It's true that his office is not that well kept, and the front office staff are not very friendly. I found when I had scheduling issues that they weren't flexible at all, so I just emailed Dr. Cassidy with my request, and he had the staff call me back and make it happen. I loved that I could email him directly! If I was rating my experience based solely on Dr. Cassidy, which is really what is most important, I would give him 5 stars, but the office environment and front office staff definitely detract from the whole experience. I did like Dr. Cassidy, however his waiting room is substandard and waiting times unacceptable. Their office just called me to confirm my appointment and told me I could wait up to 2 hours. It seems like the patient's time is not important. Why make an appointment if I need to wait 2 hours? The manager just said he takes his time with his patients. So do the math, if my appointment is at 8:15 am and there are 6 patients ahead of me, of course I would not be seen at my appointment time. Seems to me he tries to squeeze in as many patients in as possible, bill the insurance while the patients wait and wait..... Win win for the doctor, not so much for the patient. read more

Cassidy is a GREAT ophthalmologist who my 11 year old twins have seen every 1-1.5 years since about 6 years old. Very qualified and one of the best in town... BUT understand that while YES he is the best, YES he takes insurance (yea! and wow!) there is a cost - you will spend extra time in the office along with all the other lucky families seeking the best doctor. There are only so many appointment times per day and he makes a choice to continue accepting and treating those who want his services. Over the years the staff frequently have not returned my calls and I have to call back or they just don't answer. If you don't have these expectations I understand how others can get mad or frustrated with the staff and protocol during appointments. Also, expect to have long waits during your visit for eyes being dilated (half of appointment you are seen then sent back to waiting room while medicine starts to work, maybe 20 additional minutes?) which they don't advise prior to your appointment. It is not uncommon for us to spend 2 hours there. I'm ok with that to see the best. read more

Every time I've had to make an appointment I've had to call multiple times without getting a call back, I've just finally gotten lucky enough to catch someone (even though I called during business hours every time). Dr. Cassidy is the absolute best!! He has been seeing our 2 1/2 year old son since he was 12 weeks old. He diagnosed my son with bilateral strabismus and did corrective surgery on him at 6 months old after patching didn't work. I was extremely nervous about my baby having surgery, but Dr. Cassidy took his time to answer all our questions and made us feel very comfortable. I was nursing at the time and Dr. Cassidy made sure I could go back and feed my son right after they woke him up. The surgery was successful and my son recovered very quickly. He now wears glasses and sees Dr. Cassidy every 4 months. Dr. Cassidy has always been very professional and takes his time to go over my son's progress and answer our questions. I have never felt rushed and he is great with my little guy. His office staff is wonderful as well. He books up well in advance, and sometimes there is a bit of a wait, but that's understandable due to the nature of his practice. We are so grateful to him for fixing our son's eyes and for the wonderful care he and his staff have given us! read more

This review is specifically for Dr. Grk. She is AMAZING! This is our 3rd time seeing her in the past yr. (daughters lazy eye and vision has always been closely monitored..used to go every 3 months..) We had seen Dr. Cassidy in the past, who was also great but he is so hard to get appts with. We came to this office after many frustrations with another pediatric eye specialist in scottsdale and their staff... Dr Cassidy communicated with us SO much better. Anyways.. On to Dr Grk, now that we see her... I was hesitant at first but am SO happy we did see her last yr! She is so kind, patient, thorough, and our daughter really likes her!! We saw her for an exam recently and our 10 yr old wanted to try contacts! She tried a yr ago elsewhere (a regular eye doc) and it just wasnt the time.. But what an awesome experience today...she has a nice calm demeanor which was really helpful to our daughter.. Honestly.. She is really great! Everything started out great, the Dr. was very nice and worked well with my child and thinking that this was going to be a great place to take my 2 year old and I would never take my daughter there again. I've had to stay on top of getting her glasses. There was a defect with her lenses and had to wait again forever and had to keep following up to try and get them corrected. The hours on the door are not the hours they are opened. There phone system is horrible. It's so hard to get to a live person. When I spoke to the supervisor Cynthia she basically said I was a lier and said she was going to call me back when she had more information on where the lenses were and to this day still has not called me back. I've been waiting for her replacement lenses for a while. The only helpful person in the office is Monique. Since I walked in and was really upset she had been following up with me every day. I just can't believe that when the Dr. tells me it was good we got my daughter in so fast and she really needs to be wearing glasses or it could cause more damage but the it takes them forever to get her lenses. Dr. Cassidy came highly recommended, but first impression was a filthy gross office. I'm used to "kid" places being unkept, but this was AWFUL. I almost took pics with my phone I couldnt believe it. Dirty marks on the walls above the chairs where people's heads rub on the wall. The "play area" was a small box of filthy broken germ infested toys in the corner. Seriously...a puzzle with no pieces!? Staff was not very friendly and heavy accents were hard for me to understand. Per routine, it takes 15 minutes for eye drops to dilate the eyes. We were sent back to the nasty public waiting area (instead of a room) to wait the 15 minutes. Staff comes out into the waiting area in front of everyone to apply more drops! I felt it was unsanitary & unprofessional to do so there. Of course, my 1 year old was then screaming & kicking in front of everyone. The diagnosis was presented I felt in a rushed abrupt fashion. I was then pushed back out into the waiting area where a girl was selling glasses at a tacky card table setup in the corner. All this while trying to absorb the shock of being presented "doom & gloom" news that my child has never been able to see much at all. By the time I got to my car I was in tears. I would NEVER go here again! We now go to Arizona Pediatric Eye Specialists with Dr. Plotnik. A different diagnosis and much better place. read more

I scheduled an appointment for my son and drove an hour and a half to this doctor since they were highly recommended by my pediatrician. Upon my arrival, I am greeted by the receptionist saying, "Hello, why are you here?"....It was then explained to me that all appointments had been canceled due to the doctor contracting the flu. She said that calls had been made earlier in the morning. I then took my phone out and showed her that I had no voicemails or missed calls. She then checked my number and discovered that one digit of my phone number was incorrect in their computers. Now, although I was frustrated, I could have understood that circumstances were unforeseen (sickness) and human error was made (the phone number) and that I would need to reschedule and come back. However, the receptionist made NO effort to apologize for the mistake or offer to reschedule an appointment. NOT ONE time. Instead, there was awkward silence and her saying "okay, well, I guess we got your phone number wrong".....I even told her that I drove a significant amount for this doctor. All mistakes aside, I would have gone back if she even offered to reschedule an appointment for me. However, there was no offer made. I was so frustrated by this and the lack of customer support that I decided I will not be taking my son to this doctor no matter how highly rated the actual doctor is. Instead, I scheduled an appointment with another pediatric ophthalmologist. read more
