Our angel was born with the most beautiful big blue eyes you've ever seen! Because of her big eyes he Dr. had sent us several times in her first ten years to have her eyes examined, specifically for glaucoma. However, all the times we took her we were relieved to be told she did not have it. They were very impatient and "manhandled her" as she was uncooperative. We began noticing that she was having vision problems , took her in and again was told she was fine. ****Now keep in mind that she has severe autism! She does not like to be touched or handled in any way! Cooperation is non-existent!**** One day when waking from her nap, where she sleeps with her butt in the air and face down, I was horrified! The whites of her eyes were completely bloodshot like you've never seen before! I immediately freaked out and said to her nurse "OMG that's eye pressure!" I who knew nothing about glaucoma could obvously see what it was. Taking her in again, telling about what I had seen upon her waking and explaining that her sight became obvously worse. That she was reaching out, walking into walls and was very slow, being careful where she walked but could still see at that time. We reiterated that she would not wear the glasses, that if they were surgically implanted on her head she would rip them off because of her tactile issues. Asking for a referral so that we could take her to Texas, we were told that we needed to try to get her to wear them for several months before he would give this to us. Explaining that most times when a child realizes they can see, they will keep them on, we were hopeful. And she looked absolutely adorable wearing them! After 8 months we got the referral to have her corneas measured to see if she was a candidate for lasik. At this appointment she just sat in the corner with her head down. The specialist didn't even examin her, but simply told us "she has glaucoma". We are then sent to a Pediatric Glaucoma specialist, unfortunately in the same group as they stick together and are hard to come by. Oddly enough he asked for pictures of her at different stages in her life? This says to me that he was suspicious that it had been obvously missed as well!?! When finding out what they need to do to check her eye pressure, I argued that she needs to be sedated to get it done. After insisting they try their way they realize that I was right! Imagine that, a mother who knows her child! After the arrangements with PCH for sedation, we find that she was suffering with an eye pressure of 50 and 55! And for who knows how long!?! It was at least 8mo. But who knows how long before that?!? Had it not been for their negligence, what vision my daughter had, could have been saved! They should have sedated her so long ago to correctly check her vision! It is their sworn promise to do everything they can to preserve the sight of thier patients! You can Google it for God's sake and its tells you to sedate patients who are unable to cooperate! It wasn't like a routine exam, which should still be done according to the individual's needs. She had all the signs and symptoms and they neglected her! We unfortunatley trusted in them, to the best of their ability, to care for my Daughter and They did not do that! Everyone I tell my story to asks me "why didn't they sedate her in the first place?" My eight year old Niece said crying "if they put her to sleep before she could probably see me now." They stole the one thing she had left, which is watching Barney. Now as she is completely blind she can only sit and listen to it. I have never heard the words I love you Mommy and now my angel can't see the love I have for her on my face. I hold them 100% responsible for my Daughters blindness! These so called specialists are sworn to do everything they can to preserve ones sight! However they totally neglected my daughter because she was a little challenging and inconvenienced them. Now 19, 7 years later when there is nothing left but to control eye pressure with drops it is so vey challenging! We need so much to adapt to her needs but unable due to circumstances. As her adult legal guardians the Judge told us that we are to fight for her, and that if we need anything, herself and attorney are available. That's exactly what intend on doing! So many things are out of our control, but had this been caught early it could have been. She now needs a constant watch every second of every day! She can't do or walk anywhere, even in the house without danger of getting hurt! You have caused such extreme heartache and restrictions on our entire life. For the rest of her life! Dr. Cassidy has been my daughter's eye specialist for about 2 years now. There are no words to describe how amazing of a doctor he is. Prior to seeing Dr. Cassidy, we were referred to a different specialist who told me I was in denial about my daughters eye conditions and that I need to get over it and do what she says. My daughter was terrified of her and was very reluctant to go in. I knew we needed a new doctor, that's when we came across Dr. Cassidy. Right off the bat he was very understanding and genuinely listened to my concerns. He's very informative and you can definitely tell that he cares for and truly works with every single child, not only individually but as partners with parents as well. My daughter, who used to be terrified of doctors, can't get enough of Dr. Cassidy and his welcoming staff members. I've seen complaints about the waiting room and such but it has been remodeled and looks and feels very comfortable. I've known the staff members for 2+ years now and they truly are awesome. If people are complaining about wait time, it's a doctors appointment, what do you expect? Of course it's going to take time. My daughter tells everyone about Dr. Cassidy and how great of a doctor he is. She had a procedure done about 7 months ago and though I was worried, Dr. Cassidy reassured me and made sure to really take me through the entire process and be there. Not only as a doctor and surgeon but as support system too. The procedure went better than I could have ever imagined. When Dr. Cassidy moved locations to this one, I had the choice of staying at my regular place and seeing a different doctor, or driving almost an hour to her appointments to see Dr. Cassidy. There were no questions about it, of course we wouldn't mind the drive! We such care and patience provided from Dr. Cassidy and his staff, its definitely worth it. If Dr.Cassidy ever moved out of state, I would legitimately fly my daughter over for her appointments. Not only has he earned my trust but my daughter's as well. Bottom line, great place, great people, great environment, and an amazing doctor. Thank you for all that you do Dr. Cassidy. read more

I had a couple of concerns about my 2 year old daughter's eyes and took her in for a general exam. My pediatrician informed me that it may be an "all day event" based on her a few other patients' experiences. While the office was a little difficult to find (new location), our experience was amazing and our visit was under an hour, including a 25 min wait for dilation drops to take effect. The front office staff was extremely friendly and we only waited a few minutes to be called back. I was anticipating a difficult appointment (especially with dilation drops) but the medical assistant and Dr. Makoshi were so warm and friendly, my daughter was immediately comfortable and did not mind the eye exam at all. They were even able to make it a fun experience for her. My daughter's eyes are perfectly healthy and Dr. Makoshi took the time to explain why we may have thought there was an issue and how to do simple at-home checks for eye health. My husband and I left feeling so proud of our daughter and thrilled with our initial experience. We have no concerns about our follow-up visit in 6 months because our daughter was so comfortable here! :) read more

Review for 7th Street location: My daughter was 7 when she started treatment for strabismus with Dr. Underdahl. Over the course of several years, we made numerous 2-hour drives (one way) to his office. I was so impressed with his thoroughness, his gentle demeanor with young children, and ultimately with the success of his treatment plan. We eventually moved on to doctors nearer to home, but they never spent as much time with her, particularly when testing her eyes for new prescriptions. As a result, her eyeglass and contact prescriptions morphed into something poorly suited for her condition. Flash forward 10 years (she's now 17) - her vision had declined and she'd been having frequent headaches. I took her back to Dr. Underdahl today for a total reset. I was happy to see that he still practices with the same high standards. He took the time to examine her carefully and to find the prescription that was just right for her. There is honestly no one else I trust my daughter's eyes with. I give him 10 stars! read more

Worst place to be at people are very unprofessional and rude half the time they don't answer the phone I call to speak to supervisor Cynthia and she never answers my calls she is very rude and always has an awful attitude they never have appointments available and Have to set an appointment for 3 months out .Dr Cassidy is not professional he doesn't even take his time to look at patients he just goes to the next i feel like their more worried about seen a lot of patients to make money than to Actually seen what's going on with them worst place ever I will not recommend at all.I fee like the only reason why I went to here was because their weren't any other clinics close enough .Also I find it unprofessional for Dr.Cassidy to be flirting with his staff especially since he is their boss as well I just feel that if you could just don't even bother and take your time looking for a better office to go to . read more

I strongly recommend Dr. Underdahl. He used to be my oldest daughter's Ophtalmologist and now he sees my youngest daughter. She had a really bad case of blepharitis and eye infections. I was so desperate to get her relief so I took her to several different doctors but none of them seemed to really care much about her condition. I finally made an appointment with Dr Underdahl. He was very thorough when he examined her eyes (something that all the other doctors didn't do) and explained everything to me very clearly. He prescribed the treatment that worked best for her and checked her periodically until her condition improved. She has some flare-ups every now and then but now they're under control. I'm so grateful to Dr. Underdahl for everything he did for my daughter and I would undoubtably recommend him to anyone. read more

Night and day difference from the office we have been at for the past 4 years. The front office staff was so friendly and welcoming. The staff treated my daughter with respect. We did not feel rushed one bit. Dr. Cassidy was incredible! Such a compassionate and intelligent physician. He included all of our family members in the visit, making sure to engage in conversation and shake the hand of my young son as well (who was not the patient). I have complete confidence in Dr. Cassidy and his ability to handle the needs of my medically complex daughter! And then there was someone at the office who helped with fitting for new frames, which I have always struggled to find support with. So refreshing! Great experience from beginning to end! Front office pleasant and friendly. Tech who tested my sons eyes is a child handling expert! She used great transition skills to explain every test. When he got upset when the dilation drops were administered she did use good soothing cues also. Dr. Brar was amazing , she has a very warm calming energy. Easily approachable and she welcomes questions. Also she did not feel like she was in a hurry at all even though I knew there was multiple patients in the waiting room. I also purchased them glasses from there. The technician Lori explain the difference of quality of glass I would get going elsewhere, so I decided to go with them. Dr Underdahl and ABC children eye specialist are wonderful. They are so helpful and pleasant to work with and great with kids. The entire staff is very knowledgeable and willing to assist with anything you have questions about. We had an appointment time of 1030 and arrived at 1008 and they took us in by 1013 and the Dr was in the room with us by 1018. I was amazed at how efficient they were, but they didn't rush and still took the time to listen and address any issues we had. I am so grateful to have found Dr Underdahl he's really helped in diagnosing my daughter's condition when no one else was able to or took the time to. And now she's doing great. We will never switch to anyone else for our children's eye doctor. read more

I have been to the office on 35th ave twice. It's clean and they have Children's movies playing on the TV in the corner. The building feels a bit old and the ceiling tiles have some stains. The staff is okay, I wish the ladies at the desk were more welcoming and friendly. Dr. Cassidy is very pleasant. He is patient and very knowledgeable. He clearly explained my daughters condition and the treatment plan for her. Our appointment took about an hour which is reasonable for a full assessment with eye dilation. At the end the kids got to pick out a Disney character sticker which my daughter loved. Overall I'm happy with the care we received from Dr.Cassidy, but there are areas for improvement in their office. read more

Dr Cassidy never fails to deliver. He is a sleuth when it comes to finding & figuring out rare things and since we tend to be the 1% rare, I've come to appreciate this about him so much. His office staff is helpful and since the Union Hills office got its make over, it is so nice and clean. Dr Cassidy is a wonderful doctor and I was very happy to see he had a resident following him today. The resident stated he would be there for a month. Since we need more "Dr. Cassidy's" in this world, i am all for this! He is truly the most kind and caring dr and has a great bedside manner.
