These people are amazing and have my favorite donuts. I'm always caught driving to them from my work or home which is no longer in Downey, just to have their quality and freshness. Always welcomed here by the staff, and my order is usually always the same so they know what I'm there for! Service can be a bit busy but that's just how good it is. I'm definitely a fan of supporting mom & pop shops especially when they have been in business and know what they're doing as the owners of ABC Donuts in Downey have been. While I wanted a little more variety (just something like a cinnamon crunch or cinnamon twist donut to appease my husband's cravings), this little shop is a great go-to donut place. Don't be deterred by the lack of parking or the not-so-spiffy-building. The place has an A rating from the Health Department and they keep the place clean. Did I mention their bear claws and chocolate donuts are amazing? .......even a day later! Gosh, I hate carrying cash sometimes. The only reason I couldn't give 5 stars is because they charge $.65 to use a debit card. Otherwise, my hubby can easily settle for their glazed and chocolate glazed donuts. ;) The female owner is very sweet on the phone. These donuts are not fresh, but why do they feel and taste like they are!?! The donuts are so soft and flavorful. I like that I can't taste the oil that was used to make them. I also want to add that the people there are extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely a delicious accident. read more

Miss the old owner, I forget his name. The new younger owner is nice too. My daughtwr and I like thier strawberry cake donut and they used to be $1 each. The price went up 10 cents which doesn't stop us from binging on these treats. They have a large selection of deliciousness for a nice mom n pop store. They used to get super busy in the qeek day mornings with the Warren High School rush but now with Covid-19 I hope they still get enough business. Hands down, the best donuts around! You can taste how fresh they are as soon as you take the first bite. Make sure to go early because if you have an afternoon donut craving, more than likely they're almost sold out. Trust me, it's happened a few times already. The Only Review You Need To Read: We decided to give this place a try today. My daughter wanted donut holes and Takis (breakfast for a 13 year old - don't hate). They also had slushees/smoothies and I thought I'd take a chance on a peach smoothie since I like "peach" anything. I'm still trying to process the reality of what I was told by the guy at the drive-thru window - "We don't have time to make it because we're too busy." Really? Good customer service means providing your customers with the items you offer on your menu - not your ability to get something together depending on how busy you are. Maybe this was an isolated event and any other time the outcome would have been different; I don't know. But you know what they say - you only get one chance to make a first impression. So from this experience, I will say that with all of the other donut shops around town to choose from, I guess I'll be "too busy" to ever visit ABC Donuts again. The donut holes were much smaller than usual anyway so apparently this will be no big loss. Too bad there is not an option to give zero stars. read more

Been going to this location for about 10 years now. It was always a Saturday morning tradition, Sam was always a great host and a good friend . The ice coffee was the best, everything on the menu was good . 2nd time coming to this location. I was refused service and told to leave because I had a service animal. The Asian dude, seems like the owner, had a nasty attitude when I showed him the service tag and vest! I would not recommend coming here. Asian owner seemed irritated that I would even bring my service animal inside, which I'm legally able to do. This donut shop has been here as long as I can remember. Their maple and chocolate bars are worth the drive! And go in your PM's girls, because yes! They have a drive through! The owner and his wife and adult son are always ready to please! I used to take my nephew in his car seat (he is now 17) if they didnt have his favorite, strawberry with rainbow sprinkles, they would make it for him while we waited and put it in a box! I went to buy 2 dozen donuts for my paddle boat team this morning. Walking in to the establishment first thing I saw was a guy who appeared to be a regular swatting away at flies on the ground. I love donuts. Everytime I eat any donut, I'm thinking it's 5 stars but I know I have to be realistic and compare it to all the other donuts I've ever had. Their donuts have that homemade bite to it that most other donut places don't have. The apple fritter was soft on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside. I don't normally care for apple fritters but theirs is good. They've been here for as long as I can remember and for good reason. The ham and cheese croissant had a classic nostalgic taste. It was neatly assembled unlike most other donut shops' hot messes of croissant, cheese, and ham thrown together. Their chocolate cake donut was okay. 3.5 stars. I was happy to see a donut shop with a drive thru. Makes my pigletventures a bit more convenient. I don't have to get out of my car to add calories to my diet? Brilliant! I was looking for a place with ham and cheese croissants near my new place because Happy donuts by my old place was a bit out of my way. I yelped and this was top on the list. Although I couldn't see from the reviews if they had the one with jalapenos in it, I decided to give it a shot. When I pulled up and asked for the ham and cheese croissant, she looked puzzled. I immediately thought, ok this place is going to get 1 star on my review. I repeated what I wanted and she turned around and came back after a minute and handed me a white paper bag. It was $2.75. More than any other places I've been. But still cheap. I looked inside immediately and noticed that it was slit. I've been to many donut places to know that if it's slit than it's not the original format. I knew right then and there that she added the jalapenos after. Which I don't like, because it usually doesn't taste as good as the ones with the jalapenos baked inside of it. I was already disappointed. Until I drove off and took a bite. It's not a delicious, cheesy, buttery and gooey as Happy Donuts on Lakewood and Florence but still better than other places I've tried that makeshift ham and cheese and jalapeno croissants. They have thick ham and white cheese and bigger than a normal one. The croissant wasn't as soft or pastry like, it seemed more like just bread. The jalapenos they put in were also pretty decent for adding after the baking. But still appetizing. If you're not in a rush, go to Happy Donuts. Best donuts in Downey but today they shorted me a donut out of my dozen came home to only 11 donut 7/6/19 this is the 3rd time they messed up my order I asked for a glazed they gave me a maple and they put it in the box and tape it so by the time we got home we noticed. I was expecting better because this spot has been here for years. The croissant was basic. I had 2. One with sausage, jalapeño, bacon, egg, cheese, and ham and one without ham. The doughnut was ok.
