I only found out after receiving a county notice. After a demand letter, I was told on 2/6/26 that paperwork would be sent -- as of 2/13/26, nothing has arrived. This company repeatedly no-showed scheduled service appointments in December (12/9 and 12/10) after confirming them. I began calling for service 12/5/25 and promised service . Multiple calls were ignored. I requested to speak to the owner, Cecil Sims, several times and I never received a call back, He is either out of town or on a tractor. all calls and times have been documented I did not post as I wanted to keep this short and the point. Believe me it's been ridiculous. I ultimately hired another contractor who showed up within two hours, charged less, and did excellent work. Unreliable, poor communication, and unfinished permitted work, lack of transparency and very dishonest I would not recommend

We finally got a chance to turn it on for the first time this summer and it took over two hours to cool it down 4 degrees. I know there are many factors including the size of the house, age of the house, how well insulated the house is, etc. Our home is only 21 years old and the AC was replaced 5 years ago with a newer high efficiency unit. After I submitted a request for service under our home warranty, Comfort Control dispatched Steve and he came out within a day and a half. He called around noon and said he could come an hour earlier than scheduled and I said that was fine. Steve is an excellent technician and diagnosed the issue. It was down about a lb and a half of refrigerant. Because the unit is only a few years old, he said when it was installed a few years ago, the refrigerant may not have been filled properly to the factory recommended lbs of refrigerant. He didn't think there were any leaks; just a bit low on refrigerant. It's blowing colder now in a shorter period of time than before. Time will tell if it's a good repair. We have 4 months left on our home warranty and any leak should show up within that time period. I'm happy with the service and especially Steve, our technician.

I cannot imagine there are many homeowners who are experts when it comes to HVAC systems. I know…read morefor a fact that I am not, it was with great trepidation that I started our search for a new system since our 40 year old system was on it's last legs, and another Sacramento summer was at hand. So I reached out to three local companies, all of whom came highly recommended, for proposals to replace the entire system, duct work included. I then put all three into ChatGPT and here is the one comment about Phoenix Energy Solutions' proposal that was the most salient. "Those are signs that the contractor is paying attention to installation quality rather than simply replacing equipment." The price was also very competitive and when the entire scope of the proposals where compared, it was the best from a cost perspective. Of course a proposal on paper, is just that, words on paper. Now it's time to see if the work stands up to the words. Yes, yes they did. Five stars here. Communication was clear, scheduling the job was prompt. The job took two days and our new Amana 3-ton 17+ SEER Variable Heat Pump system was installed and working beautifully. Now, keep in mind this is a very intrusive process, but Micah and his crew were conscientious and careful in our home. I can say without hesitation, Micah and Phoenix Energy Solutions checks all the boxes. Knowledgable - Check Thorough - Check Competitive - Check Communication - Check Honest - Check Quality - Check

I first used Phoenix Energy Solutions back in 2013 when they came and turned a 'must replace your…read morewhole unit (that was then about 9yo)' into a well-explained $600 job. Quote from my original review: ******** "At some point, we will need a bigger unit to accomodate our actual square footage, but for now, the house is cool, comfortable (it runs warmer on the kid's side, but well below the danger point of when we didn't have AC-I used fans and kept the kids in the master suite with me). And when we DO replace our unit-I don't need Yelp-I'll just call Phoenix Energy Systems and you should too! PS-this is the service that made me join Yelp, so I can give Rich and PES 5 stars (and not 10 as others have noted)." *********** Since then, I've been on PES REST plan (their annual maintenance contract for 1 AC and 1 heater/furnace tuneup per year). I don't review routine service calls, but go ahead and imagine about 3 dozen 5 star reviews for keeping my systems running and functional as they met and then exceeded normal life for these units. Well, all good things must come to an end. The AC sealant gave out, flooding my attic and into my master bathroom. After much consideration, I came to realize that it was time to replace the AC, and possibly the equally old and increasingly troublesome heater. So Micah came over and presented several options and discussed which ones were SMUD rebate eligible. I went with the bundled (and SMUD rebate eligible) AC + Heat Pump combo. Micah and his son (already an industry veteran and very capable) arrived bright and early (e.g. right on time) and 10 hours later - old units removed, new units installed. The big surprise was *nothing* - e.g. none of the clunks grinds, whooshes, strained sounds of the old system. Just nice cool air evenly distributed throughout my 3/2 bungalow. The old system kept the master suite at temperature, but ran hot summers and cold winters in the kid's rooms at the other end of the house. Remember folks, true power doesn't roar - it whispers. And of course, thank you Phoenix Energy Solutions for fair pricing and top notch professional HVAC services.

I've used this company several times over the years for routine maintenance on my Generac generator…read moreand had no issues until this most recent experience. My generator, which was installed around 2012, developed a problem where it would not start properly or continue running. I understood that diagnosing and repairing an older unit could take multiple visits and that there was no guarantee the first repair would solve the issue. My problem was never with the technician who came out--he was professional. My issue was entirely with the office, specifically Heidi, and the lack of communication, billing transparency, and professionalism. From the beginning, communication was extremely poor. It was difficult to get clear answers about what work was being performed, what was still wrong with the generator, and what charges were being incurred. I approved two service calls and two repairs over the phone based on the amounts I was quoted. When I received the final invoice, it was approximately $500 higher than the total Heidi had quoted me. When I called to discuss the discrepancy, instead of acknowledging the issue professionally, she became argumentative and admitted she "hasn't been that organized lately" and hadn't been billing correctly. I explained that it wasn't my responsibility to pay for work that had never been authorized. Her response was, "Well, what do you want me to do now? Come out and take the parts out?" She also laughed several times on the phone while saying "You know you have an old generator right!" That response was completely unprofessional and unacceptable. Everyone makes mistakes, but how those mistakes are handled says a lot about a company. A simple acknowledgment and willingness to resolve the issue would have gone a long way. The generator is still not working correctly I might add. Communication and accurate billing are critical when authorizing repairs, especially when the costs can add up quickly. Unfortunately, because of this experience, I cannot recommend this company as long as Heidi is handling billing and service coordination. It's unfortunate because the technicians were fine, but poor office management completely overshadows this company.
