My experience was the same as others on here. Very dishonest and used high pressure sell tactics.

We called a few places that we had used in the past, but they couldn't come out for several days. A friend of mine recommended Good Guys, so we reached out to them. Thankfully, they were able to come out the next day! Jason was our service technician. He was prompt and polite. He quickly found the problem and got to work making the necessary repairs. He was knowledgeable and explained everything to us. Within an hour our unit was up and running again! We will definitely be using Good Guys whenever we need any heating and air repairs.

We called yesterday morning when we noticed our AC was not kicking on and they were able to get a tech out today! Butch arrived on time and was friendly as could be. He wasted no time jumping in and trying to diagnose the problem. He went through everything he could think of, figured it out, and advised us of best solutions. We never felt pressured or unsure of the decisions we were making. He also pointed out things to keep an eye on, as they appeared to be going bad or outdated, but again, never once did he push for us to buy or do anything now. He was also honest with us about replacing the unit altogether (yes, you're thinking he wants us to spend the money and they make it), but the unit is 32 years old with a life expectancy of 20, soo he's not wrong. Beyond suggesting a new unit he priced out different components that we could replace, as we wanted to, in order to squeeze as much life out as we could. We were already considering replacing, so he helped us set up a no obligation consultation later this week. And honestly, if not for the service and respect we've been shown, we'd consider shopping around more, but this family owned company has earned our business and trust for years to come! If you need service or repairs, do not hesitate to reach out and use Good Guys, because they truly are: Good Guys!

I called Gilmore and was on line with their recording ("your call is very important yadayada) for over 2 minutes before hanging up and calling Scotty's. I immediately got a live person, Mr Scotty himself, and he promised they would be at my house within the hour. In less than an hour, Tim showed up, very quickly saw the issue and went to fast work making the system (which is pretty big) level. He also inspected the system running the heater and air conditioning. He was professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend this company to anyone needing and wanting a professional, honest and for me, very reasonable, heating and air technician.

I wish I could award negative stars. Don't expect Scotty to support you on any warranty issues. I…read morehad two bad experiences with him regarding warranties. One concerned the failure of the condensate pump on my Daikin mini split, which Scotty installed in 2020. It was well within the 12-year Daikin warranty period, but Scotty refused to present a warranty claim to Daikin, saying that the pump was not covered by the Daikin warranty because the pump was manufactured by Refco, not Daikin. But this is irrelevant under the Daikin warranty since the part was supplied or designated by Daikin and was not specifically excluded in the warranty. Scotty refused to discuss the actual terms of the warranty and was very rude about it. I would have had no problem with paying Scotty to replace the pump if he been willing to present the warranty claim, which has to be presented to the Daikin distributor by a Daikin dealer. Scotty refused to do that because he wrongly claimed the pump was not covered under the Daikin warranty. If he had been willing to read the Daikin warranty, he would have known that the Daikin warranty applied even though the pump in the Daikin mini split was manufactured by Refco (just like General Motors warranties all kinds of parts in its cars even though the parts may be made by dozens of companies). I hired a different Daikin dealer - Perfect Temp out of Diamond Springs. Perfect Temp replaced the part and presented the warranty claim to Daikin, which eventually honored the claim; Daikin reimbursed me not just for a new pump but also for Perfect Temp's labor charge to replace the old one. The other warranty problem I had with Scotty was the failure of the insulation that covered the coolant lines on the roof. It degraded after less than a year. Scotty blew off several requests to make a warranty claim to the manufacturer, saying that they wouldn't cover it. He made a claim only after I gave up on him and asked for the manufacturer's contact info so I could make the claim myself. Once he made the claim, the manufacturer honored it, providing new insulation to replace the old material. Scotty quoted me an outrageous price ($1,850!) for the labor to wrap the lines with the new insulation, so I hired someone else to install the insulation at less than 1/3 the cost that Scotty quoted me.

I cannot imagine there are many homeowners who are experts when it comes to HVAC systems. I know…read morefor a fact that I am not, it was with great trepidation that I started our search for a new system since our 40 year old system was on it's last legs, and another Sacramento summer was at hand. So I reached out to three local companies, all of whom came highly recommended, for proposals to replace the entire system, duct work included. I then put all three into ChatGPT and here is the one comment about Phoenix Energy Solutions' proposal that was the most salient. "Those are signs that the contractor is paying attention to installation quality rather than simply replacing equipment." The price was also very competitive and when the entire scope of the proposals where compared, it was the best from a cost perspective. Of course a proposal on paper, is just that, words on paper. Now it's time to see if the work stands up to the words. Yes, yes they did. Five stars here. Communication was clear, scheduling the job was prompt. The job took two days and our new Amana 3-ton 17+ SEER Variable Heat Pump system was installed and working beautifully. Now, keep in mind this is a very intrusive process, but Micah and his crew were conscientious and careful in our home. I can say without hesitation, Micah and Phoenix Energy Solutions checks all the boxes. Knowledgable - Check Thorough - Check Competitive - Check Communication - Check Honest - Check Quality - Check

I first used Phoenix Energy Solutions back in 2013 when they came and turned a 'must replace your…read morewhole unit (that was then about 9yo)' into a well-explained $600 job. Quote from my original review: ******** "At some point, we will need a bigger unit to accomodate our actual square footage, but for now, the house is cool, comfortable (it runs warmer on the kid's side, but well below the danger point of when we didn't have AC-I used fans and kept the kids in the master suite with me). And when we DO replace our unit-I don't need Yelp-I'll just call Phoenix Energy Systems and you should too! PS-this is the service that made me join Yelp, so I can give Rich and PES 5 stars (and not 10 as others have noted)." *********** Since then, I've been on PES REST plan (their annual maintenance contract for 1 AC and 1 heater/furnace tuneup per year). I don't review routine service calls, but go ahead and imagine about 3 dozen 5 star reviews for keeping my systems running and functional as they met and then exceeded normal life for these units. Well, all good things must come to an end. The AC sealant gave out, flooding my attic and into my master bathroom. After much consideration, I came to realize that it was time to replace the AC, and possibly the equally old and increasingly troublesome heater. So Micah came over and presented several options and discussed which ones were SMUD rebate eligible. I went with the bundled (and SMUD rebate eligible) AC + Heat Pump combo. Micah and his son (already an industry veteran and very capable) arrived bright and early (e.g. right on time) and 10 hours later - old units removed, new units installed. The big surprise was *nothing* - e.g. none of the clunks grinds, whooshes, strained sounds of the old system. Just nice cool air evenly distributed throughout my 3/2 bungalow. The old system kept the master suite at temperature, but ran hot summers and cold winters in the kid's rooms at the other end of the house. Remember folks, true power doesn't roar - it whispers. And of course, thank you Phoenix Energy Solutions for fair pricing and top notch professional HVAC services.
