My WIFi went down and I was able to reboot it, but my Bosch Thermostat froze, ad so did I. Brower install my new Heat and Air, I called them and later that afternoon GAbe was able to stop by my house and reset it. My entire system is under warranty. Additional $346 to change a $25 capacitor that was already diagnosed and disconnected is high, and higher than Rocklin heating and air. Very quick response, which offsets the high price. We have used Brower Mechanical for decades. Most recently they installed a heat pump on our primary residence and a heat pump water heater at a rental property. We have their Signature Plan maintenance program for these two locations. On an annual routine maintenance for our rental property A/C unit. There was some question about a possible system leak of refrigerant. Nick performed an extensive series of leak tests and found none leaks. He did what we've come to expect from Brower, i.e. be honest on the performance of our HVAC and don't try to upsell us on expensive repairs or replacement until it is truly necessary. Sonny was amazing!!! He didn't know this but I just went through cancer and due to surgery am new to awful hot flashes. My air Conditioners went out.... Right at the start of Sacramento summer and only a few weeks after my surgery.... Ahhhhh am I right?!?.... my house felt 10000 degree. Sonny was still working at 9pm. AC stopped working on August 1st as notified by smart thermostat while I was out of town to return on August 4th where temp outside exceeded 100° every day during the interim and over 90° inside the house. I called Brower at the Sacramento airport early in the morning on August 4th and they moved around some non-urgent service calls so that someone could take a look the same day. Sonny O. arrived in the early afternoon and quickly diagnosed the problem as a blown disconnect fuse. Once replaced the system was up and running. Anecdotally, I commented to Sonny that on hot days in the high 90s and 100s that the AC has not been efficient in many years in cooling the Southwest part of the house with a lot of glass, usually only down to the lower or mid 80s. Even though the condenser has no trees or bushes around it and did not show any signs of being dirty, Sonny opened it up and discovered a lot of debris on the inside probably built up from many years. He thoroughly washed the fins inside and out. The rest of the week with temperatures in the hundreds this part of the house was able to stay cool to 80° and other days in the high 90s has been able to stay cool to the mid 70s. So a simple cleaning made a huge difference. Sonny also noted that the capacitor wasn't at 100% although still functional and that it was still under guarantee having been replaced by Brower 18 months earlier. Sonny returned later in the week and replaced it at no charge. Furthermore, Sonny impressed me as highly technical and thoroughly knowledgeable in this field, explained to me how all aspects of the HVAC system works and I found him to be very congenial. Overall based upon this experience and the last one that I had 18 months ago with another service call from Brower, my impression is that they are an honest company, doesn't manufacture work that doesn't need to be done, and that their techs are highly competent. read more

When he called to say he was on his way I thought he was the guy coming to quote a new system so I didn't think twice until he knocked on my door and then I realized that I no longer needed his services because another technician had come out at the request of my roofing contractor. I hired Brower to install an energy-efficient small-tank heater in my house in place of a very hold tank heater in the middle of the house. After mocking the previous company that refused to do the job, they mistakenly put the new heater in a cupboard in the middle of the house. The directions clearly say they need to be situated outside. Brower took that heater out and without flushing it beforehand returned the 40-year-old water heater to its place, which then flushed massive amounts of debris into my plumbing system ruining 9 faucets in the house, the refrigerator water filter and the under-sink kitchen water filter. I asked them to fix their mistake; they said they would do it at the end of the job. They then refused to run hot water lines under the house as we originally agreed and without my authorization ran them THROUGH THE ATTIC. When they finished the installation, they left without fixing the damage they had done. They sent a tech back out, but when he discovered all the faucets and filters that needed to be completely replaced, he left and never returned. I spoke to Brower twice to get them to come back out and fix all the damage they caused - and rerun the hot water line appropriately where the old line had been. They said they would. They didn't. They then called to collect final payment from me every 3 months for 18 months, and each time I reminded them to look at their notes and that they needed to fix all the damage they'd done and replace faucets/lines/etc. Each time they said they would get back to me and didn't. I stopped hearing from them, and now they have affected my credit rating by sending the case to collections. Avoid Brower. They were arrogant, uncooperative, did not follow initial plans, and refused to fix their mistakes. And then chose to screw a client over instead of resolving the problems they caused. read more
