They partner with local artists to create some very unique designs and everything is made with great care and high quality. I think my favorite part about this store is that you can customize your own frame. You first select the base size, then pick the frame and you can select additional wooden elements for decoration. They turn out very cute and I think it makes it a very memorable souvenir. Besides the frames, they also have amazing art pieces and smaller gift items like magnets and coasters. They also have a very nice selection of Christmas ornaments which I think are way better than the ones they sell at the Christmas stores in Waikiki. I would describe this as a brick-and-mortar Etsy store featuring products made in Hawaii. Floor space is expensive, but the curators arrange things nicely, so each producer's product, or product category, has room to stand out. I purchased a small plush keychain, a tee, a magnet and a sticker and the cost was just over $90 - the cost of the tee surprised me the most as it's $55 and I was expecting this to be more in the $40-$45 range. The store is on the smaller side and even on a weekday afternoon after 3pm, it was packed. It's located at the end of the row of stores, adjacent to the side of the Royal Hawaiian where the Sheraton is. Staff at the store were nice and helpful with any questions that I had. Besides the plushies, they had a great selection of stickers as well as magnets and keychains. For decades, I was aware of how popular Miffy has been in Japan (my cousin in Japan had Miffy items since the 90's), but for the U.S., I feel it has become increasingly popular within the last 2-4 years or so. I'm not sure if it's possibly because the creator, Dick Bruna had passed away in 2017 and since then, licensing and the creation of more Miffy merch and collabs may have become more easier to come out with, at least that's been the speculation. Although I'm generally not a fan at all of Hello Kitty or Sanrio, nor do I particularly like rabbits, there is something about Miffy that does appeal to me more than Sanrio characters - likely the simple design and neutral expression on Miffy and that it came before Sanrio characters such as Hello Kitty and its European vibes. Before this, I'd ordered a plush Miffy keychain from the Kira online shop in SF. The keychain ended up being much bigger than expected for me to place on a bag/backpack so I decided that I'd stop by this store during my few days in HI to see if I can find a smaller keychain and maybe a tee as I heard this is currently one of only two Miffy themed stores in the U.S., the other being Miffytown in Kentucky. If you're in Honolulu and are a fan of Miffy, then this is worth checking out.

The person at the register, an older gentleman, spent a considerable amount of time with a Japanese couple, purchasing items. He wrapped, taped, and carefully put items in a bag for them, and handed them their purchase. My turn, maybe it's because I'm in my tshirt and shorts, just a local ol' lady. He rings me up, tapes the plastic bag the item comes in off the shelf, and hands it to me. I didn't get asked if I needed a bag, as it is a gift I'm taking to Japan. I ask if he has a bag of sorts I can put that in? He asks, "such as?". I say, a small bag of sorts? He says, "well we have this brown paper bag, if you want?". Picks up a brown bag from behind the counter. I was done. I said no thanks. And walked away. Why such a difference in service? Maybe I needed to dress better, I'm not sure. I was a bit offended. Products are super cute, this was only my second time here.. I guess it'll be my last as well. So sad. By the way, my husband and I went to Kahala store yesterday, we bought something there.
