    Duke's Marketplace sign.

One of the few places in Waikiki that's still here (as I remembered it as a little kid)..... Sure, it maybe a tourist trap and a lot of immigrant vendors who work at the little kiosk booths are just trying to get a piece of the American dream by working hard, & doing super long hours here. Duke's Marketplace is sorta like a "mini swap meet" but instead of going down to the Aloha Stadium, you can get your souvenirs right here in the heart of Waikiki, as Duke's Marketplace is situated along Duke's Lane. To find Duke's Marketplace, if you know where the Outrigger Beachcomber Hotel is, as you enter Dukes Lane off of Kalakaua Avenue, you'll see a long lane that reaches from Kalakaua Avenue, to Kuhio Avenue, as Kuhio Avenue runs parallel to Kalakaua Avenue. Along Dukes Lane, you'll find an array of vendors selling all types of Hawaii souvenirs, like shirts, hats, woodwork, jewelry, cups & shot glasses, Hawaii magnets, bags, and probably anything else you'll find at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet. If you just so happen to be in Waikiki, and you don't have access to a car to get to Aloha Stadium, no worries, because Duke's Marketplace has got ya covered! Like the swap meet, you can bargain with the vendors here, and if you find the right vendor, you can end up with a pretty good deal. Duke's Marketplace has been apart of old Hawaii, and I'm glad that they're still here, because the face of Waikiki has changed a lot through the years, as small local vendors have been pushed out, and high end stores have taken over mostly all of Waikiki now. If you're visiting da 808, check out Duke's Marketplace to get a taste of old Hawaii!

Nice to still have the classic... Yes this is very much for the visitors though I'm no different when I'm the one visiting looking for places like this you do still need to bargain for the item you've been searching for and as annoying it can get the search does make it so worth while. It's not as large as it used to be but having these stalls does keep the old days with the slight touch of flea market vibe right here in the midst of Waikiki is a beautiful thing along with having some services like shave ice, or fresh fruit smoothie or even a henna is cool while you browse is a fun thing to do. It can get hot during the summer as it's obviously outdoors and no covering the vibe is busy while each cart seems like a repeat of others and wonder if some tenats have multiples. Thank you!

They want to peep it out.

Super busy market on a main tourist street. Fam got me loco moco for $9.99 the first time we went to Hawaii in 2022 and brought it back to our hotel for me. Excellent rendition of the Hawaii classic. However, this time it was $13.99 less than a year later in March of 2023. Serious inflation/gouging going on. Pathetic these days. Anyways, we tried the fried chix (very good) and loco moco again (very good). Some great takeout food, coffee, desserts, drinks, snacks here. Excellent except for the greedy price increases ie the 3 rating.

All things Bohemian & Nomadic vibes throughout this street market located in downtown Waikiki/Honolulu, HI. Such a funky landmark offering close to 100 Kiosks offering every type of souvenir, food, drink & CBD products. What a fabulous way for homemade vendors/artists & local business owners to showcase their merchandise. & for us visitors/tourists to pick up goodies for our loved ones back home...Aloha.

    Perfect fit!

My kids wanted to pick up a few souvenirs for their friends. I've been to Duke's Marketplace before and thought it would be a good place to start. While the kids went from cart to cart buying trinkets and various little things, I came across a cart with Hawaiian pup clothing! My husband doesn't like me dressing up our Frenchies -- but I was sure he would make an exception for a Hawaiian shirt, right? :) I wasn't too sure about the sizing, but the vendor was determined to make the sale, so he asked a lot of questions about my pups. He then showed me every style he had in stock. After we figured out the size and style, the haggling began! He was actually pretty accommodating and gave in fairly quickly -- I got a great deal. We continued to chat a bit more until the kids were done shopping. Super nice guy. I'm happy to note that the shirt and blouse fit Percy and Maggie perfectly. AND my husband really liked them!

Simple Island breakfast. Brown rice and the basic.

Tourist spot if I may, It's decent and actually offer a lot of foods from poke of various kinds. It's also a market where I can pick up stuff I need while I am traveling-- personal care stuff, beverages, snacks, clothing. The works. Staff is friendly. I like it! Breakfasts portions are huge. I barely touched the rice but ate all the proteins. It is more tasty with Tabasco and soy sauce. Haha

This place has not changed a bit since I was last here in 2014. Located fairly far back from the street, it's easy to miss if you're not looking for it. If you're going to the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, they sell the exact same stuff at Duke's but Duke's sells the stuff at more expensive prices. Is it horribly overpriced like the airport? No, but just buy your stuff at the swap meet if you're looking to buy a lot of stuff. We bought a wooden dolphin box here on our last trip and these exact same kiosks are still here almost 8 years later. Not a must visit but if you don't plan to go to the swap meet, this is a good alternative for cheaper priced souvenirs.

My family was visiting from the mainland, and wanted to see Waikiki and pick up a few things to take back home. I brought them right to Dukes Marketplace because I knew they'd have a lot of cool and interesting souvenirs available. We got there shortly after noon, so it was pretty empty. Made it easier for us to get help when we visited the stands. This is the perfect one stop shop for souvenirs at a good price. There's something here for everyone. Multiple jewelry kiosks, t-shirts, tiki signs, pet clothing, you name it! There's even a stand that offers Henna tattoos.

When in Waikiki...we explored around in search of Duke's marketplace. It's quite hidden in Waikiki but not too hard to find since it's not crowded.. My aunt was specifically looking for this place and I told her they built the new International Marketplace where they used to be. But nope! Totally different marketplaces we were talking about as she was a determined woman. Anywhos, we parked at International marketplace and explored the strip until we coincidentally walked right by it. It's on the opposite side of Cheesecake Factory. Not too far of a walk, maybe 5-10mins depending on your pace. It's a bunch of tents down an alley. A bit tight to stroll through but manageable with a stroller. They have Hawaii souvenirs you can find at the swap meet, Walmart, and stores down North Shore. Quite pricey compared to the swap meet. The seller mentioned they pay a higher rent which made sense, le sigh. Nevertheless, aunt got some gifts for the fam in North Carolina and off we went.

Ask the Community - Duke's Marketplace

    Is this open nowadays?

Went on 5/1/21 and it was closed.

Did they open back up yet. I was there in October and they were closed?

Duke's reopened July 2021 and hasn't closed since. Fingers crossed!

Is this open when it rains?

Yes but it hardly rains. And if it does it's is only for a short time.

    Where can I park?

There really isn't any close street parking, it's best to park on one if the side streets a few blocks away, the more toward Ala Wai Blvd the better and walk over.

But i chose to see for myself which i did , the process was pretty straightforward and quick and easy , i filled out the form and the girl said she'd call me when they finished looking through my items. And said they'd be done in 10-15 minutes , no problem I decided to walk around and check out their selections of clothes and items they had. I must say they had cute tops and nice styles that I'd wear or that I normally wear on a daily basis , I'll give them that. So selection wise for clothes , they're doing their big one with that. I noticed for heels when i looked at the shoes ( I would never buy second hand shoes from here or anyone for that matter but it was just there ) , it was a pair of Coach brand heels. Super cute and gave off early 2000s vibes , when i picked up the shoe to see the sizing i noticed the bottom of the heel bursted out with stuffing. And I thought to myself that's odd that they took those heels in despite the condition that it was in. But i did notice as well for regular oversized t shirts , they were a bit worn down. And some were priced at ridiculous prices and stained. 10-15 minutes had passed and i went to check on my bag of clothes , apparently they did go through it quickly , but they didn't even bother to let me know or say anything until i went to check on them. So there's that.. mind you i brought in good brands which were in excellent mint condition ( Adidas , Champion ) and a few other brands. They ended up only taking one of my adidas shirts and a workout sweatshirt from the brand Legend, that still had a tag on. The girl working only offered me $5.. $5 for BOTH OF THEM. . I was like flabbergasted and said to myself "Wtf". Everyone knows Adidas is a good brand and pretty on the pricey side.. to even offer $5 for that is absolutely diabolical. Especially when it was in amazing condition , fairly brand new since I didn't even wear it. And Legend is pricey as well and it was brand new with tags , so that totally caught me off guard. I personally think the girls who work here don't give a sh*t, and are there to take up space or just to pass time. They were all chit chatting and doing their own thing. They even denied four people who came in after me and didn't bother looking at their bag of clothes they bought. I probably never will sell here again especially wasting my time for a petty $5 bill. Yes , it's better than $0 , but I brought in good clothes and that's that. Besides , the champion shirt I brought it in and adidas , looked far more better than the adidas and champion shirts they had hanging up on the racks that were tearing apart and hanging by a thread. The girls here don't know what they're doing with their jobs. I think they just take or don't take anything that you offer to sell and throw you a petty dollar and call it a day. I also noticed now making this review others had similar if not the same experiences as me.. lesson learned though. Fair game. I will only return to possibly shop since they had clothes i wear. Selling wise? Hell to the no. Never again.. if you got this far take it from me .. DON'T BOTHER SELLING HERE. YOU ARE BETTER OFF SELLING TO ANOTHER LOCAL CONSIGNMENT STORE IF NOT FACEBOOK MARKETPLACE!!!!!!!!!
