I received an immediate canned response that clearly wasn't based on anything I wrote or the photo I submitted. It even included a note about ignoring outreach from other companies. The next message invited me to call Joshua Diaz-Blanks, so I did. My call went to voicemail, I left a message, and I never heard back despite calling during their posted business hours on Saturday. Before they closed on Saturday, I texted Joshua. His response was that his grandmother was in the hospital and might not make it. I was sympathetic, offered prayers, and told him we could reconnect Monday or later if he needed more time. Then nothing. No follow-up, no update, no communication at all. On Monday, I walked into Banner Carpets on Artesia instead and purchased what I needed. It was a small $1,300 job, but small jobs add up and reliable service matters. This was handled very poorly, Joshua. I truly hope your grandmother recovers, and if her time is up, I wish her peace. But using a family emergency to excuse basic lack of communication is not professionalism. At some point, adulting is tough, but following through on what you promise is part of running a business. Patrick didn't try to up sale anything but honestly just asked me questions and together we decided which flooring would best suit my needs. This place is family owned and laid back and most of all easy to work with. Patrick's communication was on point and he didn't get upset with me when I had to change the installation date a couple of times during to other things going on at the house. Patrick left but had the pleasure of working with Josh and he was just as great as Patrick. I'm so glad I found this gem! I Will be using them in the future when needed for my own home. Like paint you can think something will look good and you'll never know until it's installed. I am glad I trusted James's instinct. His two staff floor installers were also some of the best I've seen. Prior to James I had a carpet installer at another place and the carpet ended up having rolls in it 1-2 years later. AND.. I also had a kitchen remodel where the flooring people allowed water to seep in and the floor was damaged a year later (but it was too late by then and I could not get it replaced). These are OTHER experiences I am comparing to so you understand HOW GOOD JAMES IS. To-date, the carpet on my stair well is still flawless (this is now years later). And the the luxury vinyl plank James recommended are still my favorite in both color and quality. There have been zero issues. I knew it was going to be a significant investment and I wanted to be especially cautious about how I was going to spend the money set aside for this project. I contacted a number of floor refinishers across LA County, but none had better reviews than Diaz Hardwood; the feedback about customer service was confirmed when I heard back from Alex. It took us a few tries to set up a time that worked well for both of us, but in the end, it was well worth the effort. Alex came out and looked at the floors and gave me a good estimate that included putting wood over the holes were I wanted to have existing (non-functioning) heating grates removed. Alex was very meticulous in his work - he covered up entry ways and closets with plastic to control the dust, and he contacted me every day with an update. When I returned to the house once the job was completed, I honestly could not believe that the floors were the ones that were there before I left...they looked AMAZING. Friends who have been over have asked if I got all new floors - they look THAT GOOD! Alex even gave me info on how to clean and maintain my floors so that I could maximize my investment!! Talk about customer service! In short, Alex is a master as his craft, a professional in his work, and he offers excellent customer service. I've already given his name and number to a few friends looking to have their floors refinished.
