They're nursery isn't very large, they're quality over quantity. Also, their staff was very helpful in educating me in how to take care of my new plants. I didn't have to go searching for help like you do at a big box store. Tip: They have a great gift shop in the front with the best candles. read more

So now I know why I always hear how expensive this place is. Trust me worth every penny. Unlike other plant stores, the staff here are numerous & specialists in a specific field, say your looking for trees or bushes, then someone in that field will assist you in your selection. It is a big space with everything from succulents to fruit trees, shade to full sun plants & ground cover. They have a big selection of herbs & of course the indoor section which has all the things for the yard that you feel you need. This is a great spot for a different type of gift. For the person that has it all.. Fabulous display of different plants in beautiful arrangements & containers. The staff were so so helpful & guided me in all of my selections for the yard. Truly worth taking the time to come to this family run business. I don't often give 5 stars but this place truly deserves it. Look out for Tammy who helped me. She was awesome. read more

Went there to get deer resistant trees, & flowers and was assisted my Rolf. He was very knowledgable and very friendly. He put all my item on a cart and then loaded them into my car. Of the five we purchased one started to wilt but an email to the team resulted not only in immediate replacement but numerous suggestions of growing tips and solutions for our location, type of soil, etc.. When I first walked in, I thought it was too small to have everything I was looking for, and then I noticed that there's a very large and beautiful back area with all kinds of plants. They had pretty much everything I wanted, and any plants I couldn't find, they had the seeds for. The staff was very helpful and attentive as well. read more

Abide-A-While has its roots in Mt. Pleasant (pun intended). I loooove supporting local businesses. For us, this is the only nursery in the Charleston area. We shop here because each staff member working on the nursery grounds has a vast amount of horticultural knowledge (don't wait until you're cashing out to ask, each area of the nursery has people who know "their" plants). We never buy plants at Abide-A-While that, given our purple thumbs, we will not be able to nurture. Always, we are told what each variety of each plant needs to survive. They sell healthy local plants strictly for this environment. In addition, they have all the pots, tools, soil, fertilizer and mulch to do any residential gardening job. They also have a beautiful gift shop! Sure, they're a tad more expensive than stores that have multiple tractor/ trailers in and out all day, but, in the end, it costs us less because we're directed only to the things essential for our needs. This family business has existed in Mt. Pleasant for 60 years for a good reason. read more

The staff is very helpful and if you take pictures of the bed or area you are working with they will be able to provide input. My front bed overhaul turned out great thanks to Scott's advice. Only con is I returned an extra bag of soil I didn't use 2 days later only to find they don't do returns. They do store credit, but I finished what I needed. Very disappointing they couldn't do a $6 return of a bagged item that clearly wasn't damaged. Don't overbuy. read more

I stopped in looking for a few ideas for my new home's small yard. This place was amazing!!! Beautifully organized with a park-like feeling. Individual information stations were placed throughout the "Park" at the various plant groups. Pathways were spacious and the plants were easily accessible. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. Also, there is the butterfly exhibit and, the Koi pond - complete with mature aquatic plants and a resident red-eared slider turtle. It was such a relaxing experience that, before I knew, it was closing time and, I had only visited the garden. Looking forward to visiting the nursery next time. read more

The older women that work here are incredibly rude. I left to get my wallet from my car, when I came back in they were all standing in a group talking trash about me and other customers! They are like, grown women acting like children. Very nice products and plants but the staff is terrible. I tell everyone I know about my experience and I get as many people as I can to go elsewhere. At least at Walmart mart its not blatantly obvious you are being judged. It's seemed like the younger people were acting more mature than the older women. I can't exactly remember the one woman's name. I believe it was Laurie, if you go into this place AVOID her! Unless you want to be judged and criticized behind your back. read more
