Tuna tartare (special of the night)
    Ellie T.

Truly just wow!! Our evening started off fantastic when our server found out we were celebrating a friend's engagement and she started us with a champagne toast. Every item we ordered was phenomenal. Although we were told 3-5 dishes would be plenty, we went for 6 and ended up not finishing the mussels. I loved that our food was coursed out perfectly. The scallops were truly some of the best I've ever had. And as someone who rarely orders lamb, I'd go back and reorder it in a heartbeat. I truly wish the tuna tartare was an everyday item because I still drool thinking about it. I loved that we could see into the kitchen from our table as well. Overall, 10/10 and I can't wait to return!

I need a 4.5 star options because this is better than 4 stars. The vibes and setting are very moody and inviting, a great place for a date night or a business dinner really. The food was very delicious and fast, its unique flavors and not for people who like very traditional flavors and meals, have to be willing to go outside your comfort zone some and it's well worth it. The drinks were not my favorite, but then again they aren't a cocktail bar so take that with a grain of salt. The staff was great, we got 2 main dishes and 2 small dishes and it was plenty for 2 people with a little left overs as well! An easy spot if you are looking for something in OTR for before a game or a show

My husband and I enjoyed a delightful meal of 3 shared plates followed by the Pistachio Baklava. The service, the decor and atmosphere were perfect. It was just the right amount of food. Everything was delicious. It was a Saturday evening at 7pm and fortunately we didn't need a reservation.

We were able to get seated after 15 min wait on a Friday night without reservation. Their menu is tapas sized and the server helps guide you through getting an appropriate amount of small plates. Everything we tried was so flavorful and the bread was amazing. Their cocktails are okay, I believe next time I will prioritize getting wine.

Tuna Tartare. Super tasty with a kick. The homemade chips were great alone even!

Our first time at this restaurant. It has a relaxed vibe. Two rooms with bar and some tables on one side and just tables with a few u-shaped booths on the other. I would recommend getting reservations. Our server was very friendly and attentive. He was also knowledgable about the food and drinks. He brought me a sample of a wine without me requesting it. He made a special request for a non-sweet Turkish coffee. The menu has about 15 sharable plates on it with about 3 deserts. They don't serve coffee. Only Turkish coffee. I would definitely recommend this place. There is a parking lot next door if you can find a spot.

The food was amazing!!!! I loved my octopus - the dish was so well balanced. The broccoli was the best I have ever had?!?!! The gnocchi was wonderful too!! We had some dietary restrictions and they were great with accommodations. We went for an early dinner and it was just getting busy, but not crowded. A lot of spacious seats so you can feel alone, even with a group. I loved the decor and vibe of the restaurant. Such a great place to feel inspired! Our server was kind and attentive. Definitely coming back!

Me and two of my friends went here for a girls night out and what a wonderful experience! The food was tapas style and was brought out slowly dish by dish which truly enabled you to savor each and every one. The ricotta & honey dish was so good - It tasted like dessert! The ratio of bread to dip was off. I wished there was more bread that came with it. The stuffed dates were jaw dropping and the potato gnocchi was amazing as well. Huge variety of flavors that worked beautifully together. I got a glass of bodegas muga and my jaw dropped after the first sip! Definitely try their wine! Our server was amazing and attentive. He offered to take our picture after which was so kind. The ambiance of the restaurant was stunning - I felt like I wasn't in Cincinnati but in a European restaurant. A good restaurant for a small party for a special occasion or nice night out! Would visit again!

Not far from Downtown on the outskirts of the Over-the-Rhine Neighborhood, Abigail Street is a trendy tapas style Mediterranean restaurant. The vibe is comfy dim lit sexy and fun and a great place to be seen with friends. They offer a variety of dishes and recommend it be eaten family style, ie you order a bunch of dishes and share. Tapas style like that is fun to me and the service here is thoughtful, friendly, reliable and sincere. A group of 4 of us ordered around 6 dishes we shared which included: 1. Corn Gnocci dish, not bad sort of like a mesh between Italian and Southern US cuisine (3.5/5) 2. Broccoli seasoned with spices (kind of like cardomam or cinnamon or even nutmeg flavors. Didn't really care for it as it was too dried up and had a side or either mayo or perhaps aioli (did not try it). 3. Short Rib with Butter Lettuce wrap. Not bad but I felt it was too sweet (3.5/5) 4. Bacon wrapped dates with almonds and some kind of a red sauce. Not bad. Didn't wow me as I personally prefer more savory flavor profiles so I found this too heavy and sweet again (2.5/5) 5. Some kind of Mediterranean style salad with lots of cucumber, onions, tomatoes, radishes, maybe orange bell pepper(?) doused in lemon juice and Za'atar (3/5). The flavor was too sour from the lemons but my friends were ooh-ing and aah-ing over it as if it was the bet thing they ever ate in their lives. Love lemon and zaatar but not how it was used here;(3/5) 6. Another salad dish with lots of zaatar, chick peas and lettuce. (2.5/5). 7. Backlava that looked intriguing but was insanely buttery though tasted ok fresh out of the oven (2.75/5). These were the dishes I recall eating (see photo). While I'd give this a 2.5/5, because my friends loved it and the vibe was fun and the service very good, I'll bump this up to a 3/5. I love Mediterranean style food but would rather eat a Greek or Lebanese style restaurant where the ingredients are managed better. Here, the flavors were t really combined that well and things were either too sweet, too dry, too tangy, too sour or too zaatar-ish. That said, you may enjoy this if you're naive enough and my friends talked favorably of this place as if it was the single greatest culinary experience of their lifetimes. Trust me, they don't get out enough.

Very nice (repeated) experience here at Abigail! I love the intimate ambiance, with dimmed lights. And the food is awesome as well. Fresh and unusual combinations, leave your palate entirely satisfied! Everytime I am here, I try at least one of their specials, and I highly recommend you to do so as they are never disappointing.

Abigail Street is one of my two favorite spots in Over the Rhine downtown Cincinatti. I've walked by the restaurant several times without knowing what the restaurant was at a glance given their cheeky signage is three pictograms long. It stopped me in my foot tracks and had to look them up. After asking a local of neighborhood favorites, I'm glad I checked them out. As this place does get full over the weekends, do make a reservation to ensure you be seated in the room with painted white walls to avoid the kitchen smoke. It's a more comfortable and elevated seating than the other bar room. Their wood grilled octopus is hands down the most delicious dish I've had in my lifetime and will eat it every day. I've tried octopus prepared in so many ways, and Abigail Street's rendition is the most mind blowing comforting delicious combination of flavors I could beg for. Please do yourself a favor and try it! You won't be disappointed. Another solid appetizer to try is their Merguez stuffed dates. I would skip the short ribs though.

We went here for a special occasion, and noticed it's easier to get a reservation now that they've expanded the space. I had noted we were celebrating a birthday, but nothing was acknowledged, which was surprising for one of Cincinnati's nicer dining spots. That said, the food was excellent. We ordered the wood-grilled octopus, charcoal-grilled short rib, and the peach and tomato with buffalo cheese. Everything was cooked perfectly; the octopus and short rib were tender and flavorful, while the peach and tomato dish was refreshing and balanced out the heavier meats. Service was smooth, and despite the missed opportunity to make the evening feel special, I'd go back for the food alone.

Service was good. Server was nice. Not too loud. Would recommend for 3-4 people to come. We did 2 for date night and the plates were quite large. Ricotta and honey was very good. So much ricotta and so much honey.aybe not enough bread. We took the ricotta and honey home and could make another serving out of it. Grilled octopus is so good. Not chewy and bouncy. Best in Cinci probably. There's a lot more of the salad since it's just one large piece of octopus. There's chorizo in it or something so def worth eating too. Broccolini is incredible. Do not skip. If you skip idk why you came. Perfect texture I can't recreate at home. And the sauce makes it perfect. Must. Stuffed dates were a little strange tbh I was tasting skyline. lol.

Ask the Community - Abigail Street

    Is the bar seat yourself?

No. They typically require reservations especially on Friday's and Saturday's. They have to seat you from the front desk. Hope this helps.

    Do they take reservations?

Yes, call to make a reservation. They don't do them online.

Trying to get a gauge on prices...About how many tapas should you order per person?

I usually do 4 tapas to split between two people, but varied between 1-2 proteins, a vegetable, and a heavier misc. one.

From the moment I sat down at the bar, owner Matt and the bartenders made me feel genuinely welcome. They took the time to learn my name, offer recommendations, and check in throughout the evening without ever being overbearing. It's a rare gift to make a solo guest feel seen while still giving them space to enjoy their own company. The food was outstanding. I ordered the baked brie with the honeycomb (trust me, get the honeycomb) and every bite was delicious. The combination of warm brie, puff pastry, honey, and nuts was incredible. Matt's wine recommendation was equally spot on. What impressed me most, though, was the atmosphere. Ripple strikes the perfect balance between sophisticated and comfortable. The place had a bygone era dignity, a european alfresco vibe (a la Sudova), a refined mediterranean food vibe (a la Abigail Street) and there was the whole 1937 thing. When we got there the owner explained this was the descendants of the founder of Gold Start Chili opening this as a homage to his vision of a restaurant as an elevated yet welcoming family place. The place it turns out reflects the fact that they bought what was a refined saloon (where the Brat Boyz might have met in the 50s), along with a decidedly modern vibe in the back. I could ramble on about the food, but the salad makes the point. Everything they have is familiar .. with a twist. The salad is extra fresh because it is a head of romaine artfully sauced with a test for herbivores to practice turkey carving skills. The other dishes mirror that sort of familiar-meets -twist take. Devilled eggs (something I decidedly avoid at buffets) was quite good, with a homemade chili oils and black salt. The staff was quite chill, engaging but not talking your ear off. Much of the staff were childhood buddies who decided (I guess successfully) to test their friendship by going into business to together. The only part I'd quibble is the '1937' thing (it's when the Gold Star owner was born, not 2020 when the restaurant opened). But you know, quibbles get muffled when uttered with a mouth full of Biscoff 'meatloaf' (thick cut) and home made OrangeCello.
