We made a reservation yesterday for my birthday dinner today. We are in town from Chicago. So we go in at a reservation time and the lady at the front desk couldn't find our reservation so she brought it up under my name and number. Apparently I did the reservation incomplete but she was making such a big deal about it when the place was 2/3 empty. She kept saying no problem, I could seat you... but it definitely seemed like a problem. She took us to the table and brought us two waters. I asked for ice and that seemed to be a big deal as well. When I wasn't looking my boyfriend asked if they do anything special for birthdays because today is my birthday and she said that if we buy a dessert they'll "throw" a candle in it. Really??? We sat there and debated about leaving because this is my birthday dinner and we want our to be nice... we decided it was it nice and and we chose to go. Laura should not make people feel like that. We certainly did not want to give this place our money. So we went across the street to the Belgian restaurant and we are sitting here having a most incredible meal. I'm sorry but I'm not going to give my money to an establishment where they make you feel uncomfortable and the greeter is so smug. So being updated. Look at my review for this Belgian place. Excellent food. Excellent wine. One of the few places around here that consistently has an interesting menu that goes beyond the boring, overpriced stuff that can often pass for proper restaurant fare around here. Take the wait staff at face value when they recommend how much to order. You will not *regret* ignoring them because all the food will be interesting and delicious, but in my experience, these people give truly accurate decorations. On that point, I'm always impressed by the grilled octopus. This is not an easy dish to do well and they do it perfectly every time despite being located thousands of miles from oceans and hundreds of miles from Little Caesars Arena in Detroit. If I'm not mistaken, the octopus also has bits of lamb thrown in: how can you go wrong? Excellent overall experience, whether on the patio or in the dining room. Finally came here for the first time and it was a great experience! All of the food was delicious and the service was incredible! Their menu consists of small/medium plates so you're encouraged to order tapas-style and they bring out one dish at a time in their recommended order. I actually loved their system of doing this! For example, we ordered the honey ricotta bread and they suggested they it come out last as it is on the sweeter side and so that we don't fill up on bread (so that we could enjoy the other dishes). I needed this because I know that I have no self control when it comes to bread, especially when ricotta is added to the mix!! For three people, we got five dishes and it seemed to be the perfect amount. I wish I could pick a favorite but they were all SO GOOD! We got the ricotta bread, sweet potato gnocchi, lamb spaghetti with the egg added, falafel, and wood grilled chicken. I recommend coming with a group so you can try lots of different dishes! Such a good experience. Laura, the manager, is great. The servers were awesome, as well. We tried many of their dishes and loved them all. Bringing each dish out individually with wait time in between means you will be there a while, if you order several different dishes, but honestly that is all part of the experience. 294. Came here with a group of friends. Wait time was about an hour, so we killed time by going to another bar. Not ideal, but they were prompt in calling us back. Our server was very attentive. I remember being dehydrated that day because it was very hot, but they were good about refilling our glasses. We ordered roasted veggies, octopus, gnocchi, scallops, and the paella. The octopus was really small, but the chickpeas and hummus that came with it were decent. Scallops were tender. The gnocchi was my favorite dish. Very crispy and unique. This is definitely something good for groups. I wouldn't order it if I were by myself because it does get a little bland. We tried the paella, which was not on the menu. Another dish good for big groups, but we were a bit disappointed that it was more like risotto and not the traditional rice. We had expected it to be mixed with a variety of seafood, but it was mainly just mussels and sausages. Probably wouldn't get the paella next time, but I would come back for the gnocchi. I am very much convinced that Abigail Street is one of the best restaurants in Cincinnati. The atmosphere is perfect for a nice dinner or date night, but like most places in OTR, it's small and it fills up fast. I opt for the early bird special and typically get there right at 5 when they open to ensure a table. By 5:30, it's packed. Every time I've been, the staff has been nothing but attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and courteous. But the FOOD. Their menu is slightly seasonal, but I've never met a dish here I didn't like. During my last visit, my fiancé and I ordered the ricotta with honey and their gnocchi with mushrooms, leeks, and corn. The ricotta is one of my all-time favorite dishes. Like I have dreams about the charred bread with the sweet+savory combo of the thyme/ricotta/honey. The gnocchi was also spectacular. Abigail Street holds a special place in my heart. I'm truly sad that I don't have the stomach capacity nor the budget to order everything off the menu. read more

PAELLA. I mean, just. It is enormous but to die for. More in that later! My friend has been talking about this place for forever. I can't believe I waited this long to try it! Where do i start? First, I love that they're on No Wait. Sitting across the street at The Lackman for happy hour, we put our name in on a very busy Friday night in OTR. The wait was estimated at 54 minutes - and was accurate. I got a text when our table was ready and we walked in and were seated right away. The vibe was energetic and our server was bright and delightful to match the casual, upbeat atmosphere. They have a good variety of wine options. My friend and I shared a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc (it arrived in a green wine bottle with no label - bizarre). But. It was perfect for a Friday night in summer. They do not have beers on tap. Our husbands ordered a couple of local craft beers. The food is served tapas style, so if you are weird about sharing, this place is not for you. Our server recommended the paella and we are thrilled that he did. They only make 5 of them (yes, total) each weekend starting on Friday. Once they are ordered, that's it for the entire weekend. We got the last one! And it is so delish! It is baked in a giant iron bowl so the top and sides are crispy - reminds me of BibiBop. It was an enormous bowl. I would recommend maybe two more tapas with it. We had 3 more and it was just too much. We ended up taking it home! We also ordered FATTOUSH 2.0, Kefta, and crispy falafel. All were amazing, especially the Fattoush, which we did not initially order, but that our server recommended. Sooo glad he did. It was the perfect light complement to the heavier paella. Another amazing Cincinnati restaurant. My favorite dish of my meal had to be the roasted beets & lebna- the flavor was just divine. Every ingredient came together in a tastebud heaven. I could have it every day. The grilled octopus was also tasty. I never had fried chickpeas until now and it was a nice pairing with the creamy hummus and flavorful merguez sausage. The octopus was more substantial than other grilled octopus I've had which was nice. The ricotta and local honey was a pleasant surprise. I love a bread & spread dish but the thyme/local honey/ricotta blend was to die for and reminded me why food is a treasure. I don't know why I expected any less from dessert, but loved the warm pistachio baklava -what a way to end the meal. Had I had room I would've loved to have this with the Turkish coffee. I personally quite enjoyed the Zahra cocktail, suggested by the bartender. It was a welcomed light and citrusy pairing for the meal. I also liked the Le Souk which left me feeling bad & boozy :P. It's true what they say, the staff is just as amazing as the food. This was worth the 2.5 hour wait! (Put your name in and walk around, explore shops while you wait!) Everything was so fresh and flavorful. Had a great time with my four girlfriends getting a bunch of food and sharing. We all left pleasantly full, happy and very satisfied. Highly recommend! I've thought about this review and don't like to give negative ones but here goes. I was very excited about the menu and eating here. I love different food. And it all looked great. But everything was loaded up with salt so much so it was inedible. I brought it up to the server and she comped that dish. But it was just one dish. I shouldn't have paid the bill but I did. We have been frequenting this place for years because it is reliably excellent in terms of food quality and creativity. The space is cool and casual, somewhere you would find in a large city. A few of our favorites include the octopus, the beet dish, the falafel is incredible.. pretty much everything is on point. We have had nearly everything on the menu. The broccolini is rich and will woo even those who don't appreciate vegetables. The scallops are perfectly prepared. Crispy on the outside and melt in your mouth when you bite into them. The wines on tap are always a treat. Our favorite is the coast & barrel Pinot noir. The bouillabaisse is the only thing on the menu that I would get elsewhere. I've had it a few times and have never been truly impressed. Recently we have been disappointed with the short rib - the flavor profile is strange and not what we normally expect from this kitchen. This is easily my favorite restaurant in Cincinnati. The atmosphere, the food, everything about it. I highly recommend the bouillabaisse and the Moroccan broccoli. My favorite dish is the ricotta and honey, however the past few times I've been the texture of the ricotta has been super runny. It doesn't take away from the taste, but it is disappointing. I'm not sure if they've changed the recipe or it's not being made correctly, but I hope they fix it! Still five stars cause I would walk 500 miles for Abigail. read more

After the most amazing dinner I ever had it went to the worst dinner and rude service I've ever had .... so beyond disappointing! Aaron was nice In the beginning but ended up being incredibly rude and spoke to us in a condescending manner. We shared a lot of dishes and everything was delicious :-) with a party of 12 - it's hard to accommodate everyone and Megan our server and the Abigail Street staff did just that. A few people in our party are vegan or vegetarian and there were a few items on the menu that they can change the sauce or leave out ingredients. Even with this change, the food still tasted yummy! The different textures and temperatures really bring out the flavors in each dish. Try as much as you can, you won't be disappointed. DRINKS..... All the pretty drinks tasted good too my family tried the Za'atargarita (like a margarita), and Sangria. We also had Wine (which is on tap here) and you can order by glass, quartino or bottle, the champagne and rosé were dry (as requested) and we also had vodka and beer. Our bar tab was the same as our food bill 50/50. We started with the Ricotta Cheese, Honey and Gilled Bread - we had this as an appetizer but some have this for dessert. We needed extra bread which is $2 a plate ($1 per piece of bread, we needed 4). Some of my favorites are the Fattoush 2.0 -vegetables with lots of flavor and crisp pita, Moroccan Spiced Broccoli (we had broccolini), Short Rib & Crispy Falafel. Our party also enjoyed the Gnocchi, Wood Grilled Octopus, Roasted Vegetables & Bouillabaisse which is a saffron broth, shrimp, mussels and halibut (like a paella without the rice). As for SWEETS - There aren't many options for dessert but the two offered are pretty tasty - Pistachio Baklava and Churros. The baklava is hard to spilt/share so order more than one. I felt the service at the bar could have been a little better with help navigating the menu but it was fine overall. The food was delicious, however the service was terrible. Host was extremely unfriendly. It's not my fault you are open until 11 on a Friday night and are upset when a customer walks in at 10pm. Take that up with your boss, not me. He was making remarks under his breath, didn't make eye contact, didn't speak to us, and motioned us to our table then tossed the menus down. It was extremely uncomfortable and I wish we would have got up and left right then. Additionally it took 30 minutes to get our check and we were charged a credit card fee even though we gave a debit card. The waiter said he just ran it like he normally did and the fee is for all cards - even though the receipt clearly says credit cards. Every waiter I've ever had is incredibly knowledgeable, helpful and professional. It's always crowded but they are on the app no wait so I would use that about an hour before you want to go! The food is by far best I've had in Cincinnati. It's tapas style (small plates) but the type of food ranges - there's definitely options for everyone. You can order everything at once and they course it out perfectly for you which is awesome. Between two of us we usually get 3-4 plates and are completely satisfied. My go to's are the hummus, the ricotta & honey, and the mussels - but I've almost tried everything on their regular menu and have never been disappointed. I went back tonight and they had their anniversary menu so it was a little different than what I normally expect - it seemed to add more vegetable based dishes. We ordered the ricotta & honey, the lamb sliders, and the mussels. Usually the ricotta is my absolute favorite but tonight it was runny and tart, rather than sweet, thick and creamy as it usually is. Absolutely INCREDIBLE avocado hummus and toasted sesame seed pita to start. I was hesitant with the avocado twist, but it worked well! Portions were off, which was surprising with the dedication to presentation, quality, and taste. Unfortunately only one piece of pita with a large bowl of hummus. Sounds dramatic but it was a bummer with how good the combo was! We wanted to order more, but an extra piece wasn't an option. Guess we should have taken a serving of hummus home with us! Did end up offering us toasted ciabatta, but the pairing just isn't nearly the same. Really do hope to go back and see two pieces or the option for three, because I am such a sucker for reliable - let alone a slight twist - on classic hummus and pita! My wife and I had 5:45 reservations at Abigail Street before a 7:30 performance at Music Hall. Charlie, our waiter, even asked us if we had any time constraints. Our drinks and appetizers arrived promptly by 6:00 and were delicious. Unfortunately, our main courses never arrived! Charlie came to the table a couple of times, saying that our orders would be out shortly, but they didn't appear. At 7:00 we flagged Charlie down to ask what was going on. He came back with my wife's order and said the kitchen had lost mine, but was hurrying to complete it. At 7:10 we gave up and left in order to make it to the performance. We walked in on a Tuesday night and got seated right away at the bar without reservations, but I would recommend reservations if you are able to. I tried the crispy falafel and it was great! My friend tried the wood fired octopus and she said it was cooked well. We got the ricotta and honey to share and it was also amazing. I definitely recommend the ricotta and honey; they brought it out after our other plates and it was really good as a finisher. The plates are bigger than tapas but smaller than a traditional entree and it's encouraged to share everything. Each dish is brought out one at a time in order of density/heaviness. It seemed a little weird at first but the dining experience was fantastic and we sat for over an hour enjoying conversation and wine and different foods.
