My husband and I chose Mama's for our anniversary dinner and had a wonderful experience! We frequent another pasta restaurant in town and wanted to try something new that also had several Italian classics to choose from. It was all delicious, service was wonderful, vibes were beautiful, and I felt the food came at a good value for what we ordered. Mainstrasse in Covington is an experience and Mama's is part of that! We sat outside on the patio to take it all in- highly recommend in nice weather. The building itself is beautiful and both the inside and outside feature artsy details in the decor that I really appreciated. My favorite was the mismatched plates, which were darling and cozy! Our waitstaff was quick and friendly, allowing us to order all at once and bringing things out with great timing- quickly, but not until we finished a course so we weren't rushed. We appreciated getting in and out relatively quick as we had a sitter at home. We decided to go a little all out and try a lot of items together. First, the focaccia and ricotta was enjoyable but not my favorite bread starter I've had. It hit the spot but I wasn't raving about it like another one of my favorite whipped ricotta starters across town. The arancini, however, was fantastic- probably our favorite thing we ate. Hot, crispy, and paired with a delicious spicy marinara that was super standout and flavorful. Next we got the stonefruit panzanella, which was beautiful and really yummy. The burrata was delicious in particular and while the cherries and peaches weren't the best I've had all season, they worked well together in this dish. For our entrees, we split both the chicken parmesan and the limone pasta. The chicken parmesan was huge, we both had a large piece even after it was split. The pasta had that delicious marinara from earlier and we really enjoyed it, which is saying a lot for a simple marinara spaghetti. The chicken was very thin and crispy. I liked the limone even better- it was very lemon forward which can be hard to achieve in a creamy sauce. We only wished we tried more shapes of pasta because it's made in house and the spaghetti was the perfect level of al dente in our opinions. We were super full, but ordered the cookie platter to finish the meal. We split a couple of the 6 cookies that came in 3 varieties, but took the rest home! The chewy almond/amaretto cookie was our favorite and really unique. My husband also had an old fashioned and commented that he liked it a lot. I would have expected this much food to come out to much more than it did- $100! I feel that is a great value for a special occasion considering we were stuffed and tried a ton of menu items. Overall, this was such an indulgent and fun experience and I'd highly recommend Mama's to anyone who is looking for a yummy Italian experience with comfort food classics in a fun, cozy Covington setting. read more

The place is super cute, it almost looks like it used to be an old house. Very homestyle vibe. Service was good, not overly annoying and checking on you every five minutes, but also weren't waiting on them for refills or to check in on us. I LOVED the vodka rigatoni. My boyfriend got that and he added grilled chicken into it, it was so good. Flavor was amazing. The focaccia bread was good as well, paired well with a nice whipped ricotta. I got an espresso martini, which was nothing amazing but still enjoyed it. I wish I ordered the vodka rigatoni instead of getting the mushroom ragu tagalarini. I wanted to try it because all of the pictures on Yelp looked so good but I should've expected for it to just taste like straight mushroom. It didn't have balance of really anything else. It had rosemary in it, which I got notes of, but I didn't love how it paired with the mushroom. And I like mushrooms-- I will eat them plain, but now I know that I like my traditional creamy pastas. I had such high expectations from what I'd heard from friends and it was amazing! I got the pesto gnocchi and my boyfriend got the spaghetti & meatballs. It was all so fresh. The seasoning wasn't overdone and loved how herby it was. It all tasted so authentic. The tiramisu was DIVINE. Definitely get it. We also got the bread service. In one word, exquisite. We went here hoping for a nice last family dinner before my eldest sister goes to college and got all of that and more. I ordered the chicken parm and was more than impressed. The sauce was creamy, the chicken was perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, and the noodles were perfect. I looked to the right and saw my fathers face as he took a bite of his eggplant parmesan and relax his whole body in a satisfying manner. Service was lovely and food came out faster than a lightning bolt striking a tree in the middle of a strong storm. The ambience was very homey, making me feel like i was getting a nice home cooked meal in my grandmas kitchen. Food was delicious and reasonably priced. Had the rigatoni with vodka sauce with chicken parm on top (at our server's suggestion which was a great call). My friend got the rigatoni and really liked that as well for dessert. We both got the affogato . They had multiple flavors for the ice cream/gelato. I got the hazelnut and my friend got the vanilla. I really really enjoyed this dinner and dessert. We need to try one of their half liter table wines and we're not a fan. It was kind of a bummer. The wine was felt very cheap and had a bad after tea so I wouldn't get that in the future but overall we loved it. The food was delicious. We would just get a different wine next time . I've been wanting to check this place out and I'm not sure if I ordered the wrong thing that just didn't appeal to me but we ordered the spaghetti Al limone and then the mushroom pasta. The spaghetti Al limone's sauce tasted way too similar to the ricotta that comes with the foccacia bread service so I think that's what threw it off for me. And then the mushroom pasta wasn't bad and definitely had more flavor but I just don't know if that flavor is what I was expecting or looking for in this meal. I found the pasta bland and quite dry, so I asked for a cup of red sauce, which fixed it up. Parmesean and red pepper flakes have to be requested. I was disappointed there was no house bread served, you have to order a $7 side of focaccia if you want some bread with your meal. I've sat both upstairs and in the main dining room and it is so cool. It brings a hip vibe to the place but still has that Italian charm and overall adds to the experience.
