They were responsive, our technician was nice, knowledgable and efficient. He fixed my washer quickly. My issue is that they charged me an hourly rate of $450! It was a quick and easy fix that took 10 minutes! He was in and out of here in 30 minutes for $225. I feel as though they took advantage. Also, they would not honor their own coupon because it was not a "complete repair", whatever that vague qualifier means! I will not call them again for that reason. read more

These folks are unqualified and not professional. I paid $240.00 for them to come out and clean my dryer and washing machine. No diagnostic tools, the man showed up without professional shirt or company logo and no shoe booties. If he would have run the diagnostics on my dryer it would have showed that the cycling thermostat was bad. I just spent another few hundred to have another company come out to fix this. The guy also wanted me to write him a check and did not clean up after himself and lost 2 screws to my dryer and the door did not shut properly. This company is horrible. Able was contracted to work on our refrigerator through American Home Shield. They came out "diagnosed" the issue and it's been 15 days without any sort of communication on the status of the part. You call, they say they will call you later that day. Follow up the next day to be told the same thing. Cancelled the service request in addition to our home warranty with AHS, as if this is the kind of contractor that they have - stay clear of AHS! read more

We were assigned Able Heating by American Home Shield as a contracted vendor when our oven had a gas leak, with high levels of carbon monoxide confirmed by Washington Gas. After connecting with the dispatcher at Able Heating and informing them of the issue with carbon monoxide, we were assigned a serviceman, Amit, to come out three days later. When Amit arrived, he was very nice, but quickly stated there was nothing he could do because he couldn't test for carbon monoxide. He said he would recommend a service transfer to get it tested or a straight replacement. We asked him to note that Washington Gas has already been out, and he left shortly thereafter. We followed up with American Home Shield, who informed us Able Heating said there were no defects with the oven and they couldn't smell any carbon monoxide. They considered it complete. I followed up with Amit directly, who confirmed he asked for a transfer since he couldn't test for carbon monoxide. I'm not sure where the communication error occurred. The dispatcher should never have taken on the case if they couldn't properly test for the problem, and what the serviceman told us is what American Home Shield should have in their documentation. In our world where so many of the communication is documentation after the fact and behind closed doors, you need to go with a trustworthy company that operates with thoughtfulness and transparency. Able came out several times to "fix" my Sub Zero Freezer and after switching out the motor twice and several other "fixes" it is broken again after 1 month and my groceries ruined. These guys are hired by another terrible company, American Home Shield Insurance, to "help" their clients. Well, they are sending them out again after I threw out another several hundred dollars of food that has spoiled in my freezer. Maybe this time they can really FIX it. Either this company tried to CHEAT me out of $600 or they are ignorant of their own "profession". I am severely disappointed and very ANGRY. I called Able Appliance because my 3 year old refrigerator was not working. (I believe the freezer door had been left open for a day). The tech came out and told me my fan was frozen - I could clearly see the ice covering the back of the freezer. He said that the noise I had been hearing was the fan grinding to halt due to ice build up. He said that it would need a new fan circuit board and we unplugged the refrigerator to let it defrost the ice build-up. He left saying he would order the part and call the next day. Two days later, after I called them; an appointment was set for Friday. I had been thinking..... the ice is now gone. Won't the fan turn? I plugged my refrigerator in last night. WORKS PERFECTLY, thank you, me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Called them this morning to cancel the $600 appointment for the "circuit board installation". He tried to argue with me that it was a special order and they HAD to install it. I'm furious. First you try to trick me, swindle me and take my money and then you insist on me paying for a part and service that I clearly don't need. The ethical thing would have been, at the $90 diagnostic appointment, to tell me to defrost and then try it out. If it didn't work then, we would need a new motor, perhaps. read more

Do I have to give them one star? One is way too generous given the crappy customer service. A service man came over on 9/12 to look at one of my stovetop burners that wasn't working. Said I needed a new burner and he would call me back tomorrow with price and estimated date on when the part would arrive for him to install. Two days go by without any word so I call their office. Lady takes down my info, puts me on hold, and then tells me that the part has been ordered and I'll get my price and date of repair tomorrow. A week goes by and I call again. Now I'm told that the part had to be custom made (!!!) for me and it'll cost $495. I'm calling another repair service for a second opinion. But don't make the mistake I and others have made. UPDATE: After much research, I just had one of the most well respected appliance service companies come to my house to appropriately make my repair - -AGAIN! What was confirmed for me is that Able Appliance are frauds and crooks. Not only did they say they replaced my part with a new one and try to charge me for it in the amount of just under $500 at first, they did not properly diagnose the problem. First: They did not know how to take my machine a part nor put it back together; this took 10 hours (5 hours on each end). Second: They said they replaced my pump, but did not put a new pump in, however wanted to charge me for the part anyhow. My machine did not even need a new pump to begin with! Glad they are not performing surgical reparations on human beings! Third: When the ethical owner of the second company I used took a look at the problem, he recognized right away that all that needed to be done was my sump needed to be emptied of the dog hair which was causing the machine not to permit water drainage. NO NEW parts needed; just a simple empty of a clog. Under an hour and $150. And it included taking the machine a part and putting it back together (from the front and not the back)! Simply a symptom of having a Siberian Husky blowing her winter coat! ;-( Do not use this vendor! read more

I worked for this company for about 4 months. Every month was harder than the last to get through. I grew very tired of their unprofessional and unorganized way of operating. Which sadly was one of the less grievous reasons I decided to give up on them. What disgusted me the most about their business were the illegal practices. They had a habit of telling customers that they needed freon when they in fact didn't in order to make more money, and would put on a show to make it seem like we were recharging the freon(because "the company needs to survive somehow"). They alsl release freon into the atmosphere illegally instead of properly recapturing it, thus exposing me to carcinogens(I stayed as long as I did because I really needed the money)... I didn't feel like I was with respectable, honest people. I felt ashamed to be working with them. You don't just lie to people's faces like that and steal from them by taking advantage of their not knowing any better. I have video proof of several of their wrongdoings and hope to have them be held accountable. Also the majority of these good reviews aren't legitimate. I was told to write up a good review by management, and they've had several people(friends and family of theirs) write up fake reviews even though they weren't actually customers. How bad do you need to be to feel the need to do fake reviews? And don't even get me started on the unprofessionalism. They had me, a guy with less than 4 months of experience, running around doing AC jobs on my own. I was clearly not in a position to be doing so as I had to call for assistance many times which was embarrassing. Had to deal with complaints and justified attitudes from customers I serviced because they had been waiting for weeks or even months to be serviced/recieve follow up, or because the management was rude to them. It was all stressful and to be frank - complete BS. The amount of times I was made to lie to the customer was disgusting. I don't recommend them to anyone. Stay clear, folks. read more

Useless. The tech said he had never heard of Thor ranges (rated as one of the top five in 2019 by BestReviews). My problem was that the oven temps were running 50 degrees top low. He said he guessed I needed a new thermostat but didn't know if he'd be able to find one. He charged me $89 for the visit and said he'd call the nest business day. When I didn't hear for 2 days, I called, and they said they couldn't find a thermostat for my range. I found the proper thermostat online in 5 minutes and asked if they wanted to order it, or whether I should. They never called back. (I eventually called Thor, who said the thermostat probably need to be recalibrated and sent directions. Done. Problem solved). read more

Called today before noon for repair on clothes washer. A man answered the phone, not that friendly, seemed pre-occupied. Did say will have tech out between 3-5 pm today. I thought great, that's fast and gave him my info. 3 o'clock rolled around and nothing (no problem), then 4 o'clock (ok, still no problem), then 5 o'clock (ok, now worried). No phone call to say they were running late, nothing. So, at 5:15pm I called back and a woman answered this time. I could barely understand her and had her repeat alot. Also I had to repeat alot to her s-l-o-w-l-y. She said I wasn't on the list and could have someone out between 6-7pm. I told her NO THANKS! This is no way to conduct business! Do not be fooled by big color ad spaces and this so called superpages thing. As the saying goes, 'you never get a 2nd chance to make a good 1st impression'. Able Appliance BLEW IT! We called Able on Saturday when our ice maker stopped working. They said a tech would be at our house between 2 pm and 4 pm. Slightly after 4 pm, we got a call from them that said they would be out by 4:30. When no tech called, we called back and they said they have been trying to call us but no answer (we were home all afternoon waiting for them and their tech called us just 30 minutes previously). They seemed annoyed that we still wanted to tech to stop by and look at the refrigerator. He finally arrived around 5:30. He looked at the refrigerator and said a water filter mount needed to be replaced. He did no diagnostic work other than listen to me describe the problem, watched the water run slowly though the water dispenser in the refrigerator and decided it was the water filter mount. All paperwork indicated there was a problem with the water dispenser and nothing about the ice maker.They called back on Monday with an estimate for the repair. They once again said a tech would be out to our house later that day. He was a no-show. They later called and rescheduled for Tuesday. Once again, they were a no-show. My wife then called and they said they ordered the wrong part and would need to reschedule. At this point, we were fed up and called another company. Still not sure if their repair would have actually fixed the problem. read more

Worst company ever! came to house to look at refrigerator, didn't pull panel off the back, listened to it run for a minute, said it was the compressor and he had to order one. Charged $100 for a 5 minute visit. Said he would order part, that was a Friday and part would be in on Monday. Monday came and went, no call. We called Tuesday, said he left a message but we did not have a message from him. Were told the part was no longer available. No other help from cranky receptionist or service tech. I found the part on Google in less than 2 minutes. WTH. Called for refund of our service fee. They said it was $79 and the would refund the difference. I doubt it, but we will see. I was in a huge hurry because the gas fireplace inspection was holding up the purchase of my new home. The girl at Able was really nice and scheduled me for the next day! I have been working with Able appliance heating and air conditioning and so far the experience has been horrible. Not only do they not show up on time, they don't fix the problem. You do however receive the run around from both American Home Shield and Able Appliance. Customer service is not important with these companies. I would not recommend Able Appliance. read more

We called to ask for an estimate to fix our refrigerator, on a Wednesday. They offered an appointment same day, between 3pm and 5pm. I had to rush to make it home by 3pm. By 630pm, still no one had arrived. I called the business and someone said the repair man scheduled for us was still working another job. At 646pm, the repairman called me directly to cancel, saying he was too busy, and offered an appointment Thursday between 3pm and 5pm. Again I had to rush home to make it by the 3pm. Again no one showed up until after 630pm. He was at my home 4 minutes and saw our LG linear compressor was bad. And he said they would call Friday with an estimate! So Friday afternoon, I still had no call, and again I had to call their office to get things moving along. Several hours later, the same repairman finally called me with a $952 estimate. After talking about it we decided to not fix this appliance. And then Able Appliance repair still charged us an $89 service fee, even though the first day of our appointment they never showed. Technician arrived looked at my refrigerator said he had to order parts and I needed to pay the $125 service fee. He accused me of not paying and demanded a check. We went back and forth, was rude and argumentative. I finally offered to pull up the email receipt to show proof of payment. He immediate changed his tune and said I trust you. He was rude and made me feel uncomfortable. I will never allow a technician from this company in my house again. read more

After 5 months of trying to get my stove repaired after the initial visit they NEVER showed up, followed up or needless to say fixed my stove. They just lied and gave me the run around. This review is based on customer service so far. I contacted this company but obviously was unaware of its bad reviews. On the day of the first appointment the tech showed up within the time range provided (10-12pm). The tech came in with a toolbox that was not used. He only hear my description of what I understand was wrong with the fridge. However, he did not look further to evaluate the problem. Immediately provided my options to fix the fridge. One was cleaning the tube in the fridge with nitrogen to unclog it, apparently thats what is causing the leaking under the fridge drawer. The other to replace the control board because it may be the reason why the fridge is not at the same temp that it is set. The former will cost $250 and the latter $450 with a year warranty. He asked for the service fee of $59 and schedule another appointment to come to fix the problem. I was surprised of the way this was done since my fridge needs repair and there was no effort to accomodate the service needed to fix it. It is Ok if that is the way they do business but it should be CLEARLY communicated to the customer that the service is NOT provided in the first visit. The day for service was scheduled 3 days later (today)for the same time and it was not until 11:30pm that the tech called me to tell me, not to ask, that he was coming tomorrow (saturday) because they did not have the nitrogen needed. Now Im waiting to speak with the manager to express my disappointment about this bad customer service. I will post again to share any feedback from my conversation with the manager and for the service to be provided on Monday. By the way, no one ask me if they can come on Monday, but they called to notify that the tech will be at my house between 10-12pm. Incredible!! read more

I called Able Tuesday morning about a problem with my refrigerator. They said they would be here on Wed between 12 and 2. Two thirty rolled around and the service tech says he can't make it until 5. I say OK, get a call at 5:30 and he says he won't be able (no pun intended) until Thursday between 12 and 2. Its now 3:30 and he is still not here. I called and he said he could not make it until Friday. I have food going bad and asked him why he at least didn't call and let me know, and he had no answer. Never again. read more

Our AC stopped working on a Saturday and I called a friend who knows about HVAC and explained to him what was going on. Due to the frost around the connector on the back of the unit, he said we probably just needed refrigerant. I called all of the big name companies in the area (FH Furr, CroppMetcalfe, Michael & Sons, etc.) and they all wanted a $115 diagnostic fee plus $100-150 weekend service fee just to come out. If we weren't willing to pay the weekend service fee, the soonest they could come out would be Wednesday or Thursday. I found Able Appliance Service in the phone book, called them around 6pm, and they said they could come out early the next day, no problem. They don't have diagnostic fees or weekend/evening fees, they only charge for the work that needs to be done. Kumar came out this morning and was very helpful and fair. He checked the AC unit and the air handler, patiently waited for the lines to thaw so he could check the refrigerant levels and filled up the unit. Didn't take long at all! I will recommend Able Appliance Service to everyone I know, they are a great company that doesn't price gouge the customer. Go the mom & pop route and support small businesses! read more

DO NOT!!!! I repeat DO NOT use this company. Same day service is a lie. And while we waited 3 days for them to come and still didn't show up, my husband suffered and asthma attack and had to go to the hospital. I called and they said we need to reschedule. No one called us to say they were not coming. The CS rep was rude and hung up on us. I asked to speak to the manager, who you could hear arguing with another customer on the phone, he even stated he was the manager to the other person, she said he cant talk till 6 pm. I called the first repair company that popped up on google and just went with it. We were out of town so I scheduled a repair guy for a few days out. They gave me a time slot of 1-3pm. I called at 3:15 and they said yes I was on the schedule. It would have been nice if someone had called me to confirm, but I figured this was pretty normal for repair companies (at least ones I've dealt with in the past) and wasn't too worried. The guy who came was clear, friendly, and he seemed eager to fix the fridge. He didn't have the right part but said he would call me the next day. He actually did call me the next day but we were out so we scheduled for him to come the following Monday. He showed up right on time, fixed it quickly and was on his way. A few days later I noticed water leaking on the fridge and freezer. I called the company back on a Saturday, the same guy came on Monday and fixed the leak for free. Great! read more

All 3 were deposited at once. After calling, they apologized and said it was their fault. Said they'd talk to the manager. The next day, they basically said they are unable to do anything. I called Able Appliance to repair a refrigerator that stopped working. They gave a 3-hour window to come to the house and made it on time. Raj the repair technician quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty circuit board and after calling 3 different places to try to find a new which would have taken an extra day or two and resulted in the loss of the food in the fridge, he determined that he was able to fix the board for a reasonable rate. Additionally, there was no service charge and because it was my first time, there was a 10% discount. What I liked about the service I received is that Raj was able to go beyond the idea that only a new circuit board would take care of the problem and he went the extra mile to repare it. read more

I was assigned this company by American home shield warranty when my refrigerator started making clicking sounds and eventually starting having trouble cooling. This happened on a Friday night and I thought for sure I wasn't gonna get service until Monday. But Able Appliance responded immediately, I was actually still on the phone with the warranty company when they clicked in. They scheduled for the next day Saturday 12-3 window I was thrilled. Saturday the technician Raz called to tell me he was 30 minutes out and he arrived a little before 12 which was perfect. He immediately new what the problem was and replaced the control board. He was done in less then 20 minutes. I was very impressed and happy with my overall experience! read more
