The technician was professional, arrived on time, and I appreciated how quickly Brennan's was able to schedule the appointment. That said, I was disappointed with the overall experience. I paid nearly $300 for the service call but left without clear, actionable information. Let me start by saying we have had the WORST luck finding a good Heating & AC company to service our units. Turns out 3rd times a charm with Brennan's! Yay! We were recommended Brennan's from our neighbor and they do not disappoint. We have a service agreement and when we call them they come right out - same day. We had an issue with our humidifier that they fixed in 5 minutes. Then they went on to check our whole system and found a number of issues. The fixes were all covered in our service agreement - another yay! Our tech today, Aaron, will tell you everything you ever wanted to know about your furnace and some stuff you couldn't care less about... haha. But it just goes to show you how knowledgeable he is. The technician, Ryan, misdiagnosed our issue. This resulted in not having heat during the last cold spell for approximately a week while we waited on parts that were not ultimately the issue. When they came back to install said parts and it did not fix the issue, they had the audacity to charge me a service fee for literally pulling the thermostat off the wall. It ended up being a communication failure with the wiring. Additionally, they claim veteran friendly but when I asked about a discount he stated they don't do that on service calls but if we needed parts in the future that would apply. Extremely disappointed and had to use space heaters for a week due to a failure of them to troubleshoot an issue that should have been solved in a single visit. read more

Mike Brennan reached out to me to try to make the HVAC quieter. He spent some time trying to turn down the blower. The noise is slightly quieter, but it's still loud enough that I have to adjust my TV whenever the AC comes on. Moreover, now there's an annoying high pitch whistle that comes with the noise. Perhaps this is the amount of noise one should expect given the geometry of the condo. But the salesperson should never have assured us it would be quiet. I also wonder whether we were sold a unit that was excessively powerful for a 3 bedroom condo. Mike also explained that they don't do tech things, and thus can't help with the app. I prefer to go to a place that understands the things they sell. read more

After extensive researching reviews, ratings and friends opinions, we went with Brennan's HVAC. They were honest with us in the beginning and did not oversell us a system that was not needed for our size house as other HVAC companies tried to do. During the process, the owner Michael Brennan accepted my phone calls and was very helpful and professional. Our salesperson John was very knowledgeable and helpful and explained pros and cons on the equipment. We were scheduled in a short timeframe and kept up to date on installation. Our installers Eddie and Marty were on time, pleasant, professional and explained everything to us and answered questions. They were very careful coming into our home and put down drop cloths down to protect our flooring. We had the entire system as well as the hot water heater replaced. During this process we found out that many things previously done by another contractor were not done correctly and they didn't badmouth the company but we were able to see the issues. I believe it is true that the contractor you choose to install is more important than the equipment you select. We couldn't be happier with our choice to go with Brennan's HVAC. read more

We have used Brennan's for many years and they have serviced our HVAC systems in several different homes. We have found them to be responsive and professional. With the onset of summer and turning on our air conditioning for the first time this year, we experienced problems with our a/c unit. We had a maintenance appointment already scheduled in about a week and a half, but they were able to come out much sooner. Brandon arrived this morning and was able to take care of our regular maintenance as well as diagnose the problem with one of our units. Brandon was very knowledgeable and was able to explain in detail the need for an updated unit and the options available. He also was able to give the pro's and con's to having a humidifier. This is my first fall in my house, and the hvac doesn't seem inclined to generate heat. Ya know, kind of essential as these days get shorter and colder. Based on a referral from a trusted colleague, I called Brennan's for a service request. The person I spoke with was courteous, and I'm grateful it was a person and not just a voicemail. That gets them 2 Stars. When I asked how soon I could get an appointment, I was thrilled to hear they could come tomorrow afternoon. Things were looking up! However, the appointment windows Brennan offered me fall in the 1950s/bankers hours mindset, which doesn't reference what my house needs nor what I would say the norms are in this area. I was offered 12:00-3:00 as a window. When I asked what times, ever (not just tomorrow) are available for people who work outside the home, there was a long pause...... Ohhhhh..... Welll..... We don't. Unless it's an emergency and then it's 150% of the quoted price per hour plus similar markup for all work. So I'm writing this as a reminder to all small business and service providers- for us to pay the bills for heat, ac, you name it, most people have to be at work. We can't take time off from work for a personal appointment. Please take these needs into consideration when you are a service provider. Maybe they do just fine with serving the stay at home mom crowd, or flexible work ppl, (no offense intended), but that's not all of us. Who else wants my business? The search ensues! read more

They replaced everything -- interior and exterior units, junction box, circuit breaker and the foundation for the external unit. The technicians, Edmund and Desmond, were well organized and completed everything in less than 4 hours. Normally, this job would take 6 to 8 hours. Have been using Brennan's for past few years for basic seasonal HVAC check as a continuation of service from the previous homeowner. The company has not, however, been the best at troubleshooting HVAC issues as I had to seek an outside company twice to remedy problems with my HVAC. Once after inquiring with the technician during my regular seasonal servicing about a mildew smell coming from the vents, the Brennan's technician checked and stated they saw no issue. I knew it wasn't true as I was still smelling a mildew odor from my vents. Turned out I had a damaged condensation drain line which was repaired by another company. Since my system is no longer under warranty, I will be using a different company. read more

That speaks well for the company, and as a result, I would consider using them in the future. I've used Brennan's several times in the past, and the service had been exactly what I expected. Unfortunately, this morning I had a negative experience with an unprofessional receptionist. Ordinarily, I would be content to walk away and leave a negative review to help others avoid the same. Fortunately, they reached out to me personally to investigate my issue and offer to make it right. Brennans was recommended to me by a neighbor when I moved into my house. I have a 15 year old dual zone system and a 15 year old water heater. Back in summer, I called them because I noticed water leaking under the furnace - I assumed it WAS the AC unit, though both the water heater and AC/furnace are in the same closet. The replaced a "P trap" without saying it was the source of the water leak. Didnt work. A week later I had water damage and an insurance claim - Brennans said I needed a whole new system for thousands of dollars. Come to find out that the water heater behind the furnace is leaking quite heavily and visibly. I could see the water spraying out of the leak! I call them and they charge me $94 to come out and tell me - "yeah you have a leak and need a new water heater for $1200". No kidding dummies! I called Brennans and complained about being charged for the $94 and they would only refund the charge if I got my water heater installed through them - nonsense! These service guys are dummies and the company is a scam! Avoid them if you dont want to part ways with your hard earned money! read more

CROOKS!!! When our AC adopted blowing cold air, these crooks/liars/thieves came out and promptly told me we needed to completely replace my high-end system. That was total BS. The tech was more interested in writing an estimate for a new system ($15,000 !!!!) than honestly diagnosing the problem. I only needed more coolant for a couple of hundred bucks. This industry is full of shysters like this. Brennan's has employees that are happy to lie to you to sell you something you don't need. I am renting a home in McLean, VA. Brennan's was called by my landlord to do a "winterization" of our home. We were contacted several days in advance - and the service technician (Aaron Sajeski) arrived on time. I am writing this positive review because Mr. Sajeski was the most fantasitic technican I have encountered. He explained everything about the HVAC system to us, advised us on how to maximize "flow" throughout our home to ensure a consistent temperature throughout out home. I highly recommend Brennan's based on this visit by Mr. Sajeski. He is an intelligent, hard working, and personable individual. I am indebted to him for the extra time and in depth explanations. I knew Brennan's was very familiar with the units in Dale City homes since they had been servicing them for as long as we have lived in the area some 30 plus years. They employ the most highly trained technicians who treat you and your property with respect and always have given us a fair estimate on the cost of any needed repairs.To our surprise today's technician Bill, was the same technician that serviced our heater 30 years ago. It is rare to see loyalty from an employee to the same company. Fantastic Service and Support. W'eve lived in our house in Burke, Virginia for 33 years, since we came back from overseas. We've used Brennan's for about the last 8 years and couldn't be happier. The two companies we'd used previously were bought out by larger firms and their business models, service, and performance, went downhill almost immediately thereafter. We've been so happy with Brennan's that I recently called and spoke with Mr. Brennan (the owner) to compliment he and his team and to plead with him not to sell his company. This particular service call for a leaking humidifier on our air conditioning unit turned out to be a loose water evaporation filter that the technician was not only able to diagnose and fix quickly, but he also identified a simple remedy to prevent it from happening again. Joe was very proactive setting up appointments for work to be done at my house, coordinating with the Reem manufacturer and talking to the warranty company. I had a 10 am appt for a new system. The estimator called around 11am saying he was running late and would arrive in 10-15 mins. Another 40 mins later the estimator shows up. I asked if he was running late because of traffic or a late appointment, his response was that I was his only appointment and he was eating BBQ and got a little lazy. What a great response to a potential customer. After looking at my system he took out his laptop to provide me his quote which was 2000 more than a competitor. When I told him his price was high he got irritated and told me how the competitor is driving the prices down. Really? Maybe Brennan has too much profit built into their pricing? If you own a Carrier HVAC system and the installing company won't honor your warranty call Brennan's. They are a 5 star rated northern VA company and Joe in warranty service will walk you through getting your warranty transferred to Brennan's. I needed a very expensive circuit board replacement that was still under warranty. The best price on the web was over $400. Once the transfer was complete I scheduled an appointment. The very polite lady who answers the phone (yes a human answers the phone) called me 15 minutes before Gari the technician arrived so that I didn't need to waste my day. Before installing the very expensive circuit board Gari checked out the indoor and outdoor unit, the thermostat and connecting wiring. He was very thorough and knowledgeable and provided excellent service. He made sure that the heating and cooling functions of the units worked properly before he left. All for a cost to me of only $115. I highly recommend Brennan's and Gari although I'm sure that all their technicians are highly trained. I called Tuesday to get our AC serviced. I got an appt for the next day and an approx time frame. The lady told me, they would call shortly before they service technician, named Dave Mendes, would be there shortly. They called about 5 min beforehand. The service technician was very skilled and professional. He told us exactly what he was doing. Explained everything in detail and answered every silly question I had. Since our free-on leaked he called it in and the office told him he could provide us with a leak search right there and then. He quoted us a higher price since he didn't know how long the search would take but sure enough he was done very quickly and saved us money. He found the leaks and told us the office will call us tomorrow with an estimate to fix the ac. They sure did call us today and gave us an estimate. I called them to help diagnose my heater after I mistakenly installed the wrong thermostat. All seemed fine - blown low voltage fuse. However next thing I know the technician is telling me I need a whole new system asap. I declined and got a second opinion which found the system to be fine except for low pressure caused by a loosened fitting. Funny the fitting was fine before the Brennan's tech had been to my place. Had a 15+ year old heat pump go out in a rental unit of ours and Brennan's was suggested to me. Right from the start they were a 1st call organization. Paul went to the house and gave me an estimate very quickly. He even helped relay info to the tenant for me, which was important. I called on a Wednesday am and Brennan's was able to put in a new unit on Thursday. Tyler and Zach installed the new unit and were professional and friendly. Excellent experience, couldn't be more pleased. My heat stopped working last week at 7:00am. I called Brennans at 8:00am and their technician was at my house at 8:45am. Bill the technician couldn't have been more knowledgeable and personable. He diagnosed the problem, which happened to be a very rare occurrence, went to pick up the part, and had everything fixed within no time. He took extra time to show me the broken part and provided a detailed explanation of how all of the components are supposed to work. I also asked him to install a whole house humidifier, which I assumed would need to be scheduled at least a week out. He made a phone call and said he would be at my house the following day. He showed up on time and two hours later my humidifier was up and running. I provide this level of customer service at my job.
