I was connected with Top Notch Appliance service as they were the local contractor scheduled on behalf of Bodewell - the warranty service provider for my dishwasher. My dishwasher was only about 9 days old (purchased late Febrruary) when one of the springs on the door broke and the door no longer sealed which resulted in the dishwasher leaking. The Top Notch team came out on March 18th to assess the issue and determine the root cause which they said was the broken spring/door hinge. This was replaced under standard warranty and the technician left but told me if it was still leaking that they would need to look at the door. I ran a full cycle that evening and it leaked again so I called their number back and left a voicemail. A week went by and I had no follow up regarding someone coming back so I called again. I was told they "missed" the voicemail but would get right back to me. Another 2 weeks passed and they had someone come out to replace the whole front door panel. During that replacement, the technician damaged the brand new door and left dents in it. He told me that if the issue did not get resolved that I needed to let them know and they would put in for a new dishwasher replacement with the manufacturer, but if the issue was resolved that they would still need to replace the door as they left me with a dented door panel. While the major leak was resolved, it was still not sealing correctly on one side of the dishwasher as I was still getting water pooling at the top and dripping out on my dishwasher and the seal on the side was letting all sorts of particles surround the side whereas the other side of the dishwasher was spotless. I contacted their team back and received a voicemail again so I left a voicemail letting them know the status and requesting the replacement. I then called weekly for the next 6 weeks trying to get an update, leaving voicemails each time as no live human ever picked up. I started getting suspicious so I called them from a different phone number and a live person answered which proved my suspicion that they were just ignoring me. During that phone call they told me they had passed everything to the manufacturer and sent the manufacturer an email, so I requested they forward the email to me and provide me with the case number for the manufacturer. I never received the email they told me they would send and when I called the manufacturer with the case number they told me that they never received a replacement device request and the ticket was closed. I had to open a brand new ticket with the manufacturer and they had to send a different technician out to both look at the door with Top Notch Appliance left damaged as well as assess what the issue was with the dishwasher as they are unable to re-open old tickets. The manufacturer scheduled a different company to come take a look which happened today (July 7th) and they informed me that cosmetic issues such as the door are not covered by the manufacturer and that it needed to be handled with Top Notch - but they would work on the other issue. The overall communication from this company was terrible. They ghosted and ignored my voicemails, then lied to me on the phone. They never finished the service that they were contracted to do, and left me with a dishwasher that was still not working correctly, and had damage that they themselves caused. They did not even report all of their work back to the manufacturer. Their overall sheer incompetence has left me without a correctly functioning dishwasher and a damaged one for months. I would not recommend anyone do business with this company. read more

Updating to reflect that after months of asking, calling and being persistent, Top Notch made good on our issue. I hate how much work it was to get what we paid for, but the in-home service was always good from John, and we eventually got to where we needed to be, even if it was a little painful. read more

We originally reached out to Sterling Appliance, who referred us to Top Notch because they were fully booked for several weeks. Our LG washing machine had been stalling out with an error code indicating an issue that was likely a failing vibration sensor, this would leave our clothes partially washed and sopping wet. John from Top Notch came to our house, observed the washer failing to complete a cycle multiple times with the same error code and listened to our concerns. After leaving to research the problem he left a voice mail later that day saying that he had consulted a colleague and suggested that we were just loading it incorrectly, he then described in detail how to properly load a washing machine. For context, we had been using this washer for three years without issue before it suddenly started failing mid-cycle, we are also both in our mid/late thirties so we have some experience doing our own laundry. We decided to go back to Sterling Appliance who believed us when we said there was a problem and they replaced the board with the sensor. Unsurprisingly actually performing the repair was more effective than gaslighting us about it and the washer is back to normal read more

Ok folks, we found a winner here. Let me tell you, we have tried to find a place that even will look at out built in refrigerator, but alas, there was no one who would attempt much less respond. This ma and pa place is excellent. John came, looked, ordered parts, came and fixed it. His spouse Kimberly, who answered the phone initially, already basically troubled shot what the problem would be. She was right, and John fixed it without fuss. They are my go to and I forwarded their name to our realtor who always needs good a good list of folks. Again, what a complete and pleasant surprise. John was great without our deaf dog. Not his job to handle, but he was very patient. Sterling Appliance forwarded their name to us. By the way, Sterling Appliance could not fix built in refrigerators. How odd, but at least they did provide Top Notch, so I am very thankful. I don't promote anyone who doesn't care about their work ethic, but they are great. read more

Top Notch was above the top in their service to me. Not only did John promptly fix my Bosch dishwasher's drainage tube, but he also went well beyond. He: - reinstalled our dishwasher according to the manufacturer's specs, which the original installer did not do, - showed me how to replace a cracked handle on the dishwasher that he said I could do myself (and how the original installers caused it to crack), - touched up the hardwood floor that I scratched when I attempted to do it myself. Did suggest I use the warranty but I declined since that would be additional time without my beloved dishwasher. Have since called bc I broke a piece, emailed them the picture of it. They called back with order number and told me around what the price should be online. I really appreciated that bc they could have been all about a service call and service call fees. I have not one bad thing to say about Top Notch. Easy to make an appointment. Josh is the best. Easy going. Very knowledgeable and informative. I can't say enough about him. My washer wouldn't drain due to a user error. (I believed the washer was over filled.) It had about a foot of just nasty water in it that wouldn't drain. Josh took it apart, drained it with a wet vac. Found a sock in the drain tube, (which I figured, from watching You Tube video about the process), put the washer back together and ran a short cycle. All fixed. What, 45 min? Less? Cost was surprisingly affordable and I'm a penny pincher. I wish they did handyman jobs. I would hand over my list in a heartbeat! Great company!! read more

I recently purchased a brand new Bosch refrigerator from the Lowe's in Gainesville, VA. I also paid for them to deliver and install the refrigerator and haul away the old refrigerator. After they were done installing and had left - I noticed the tops of the two doors did not line up. The left door was noticeably higher than the right door - and this was also preventing the door from sealing properly when closed. I took photos of this, (as well as photos of several dents on the side of the refrigerator) and went back to Lowe's and showed them the fruits of their labor. So they scheduled a follow up appointment to fix this. I advised them the guy they sent last time (third party contractor service) did not know what he was doing. They responded they would have them send someone else. So, the next day - they come back over - and it's the same guy who installed it. He looked at it for a couple of minutes, pushed on a couple of things, and stated I need the refrigerator doors replaced! I asked him to leave, went back to Lowe's, spoke to them again - and they said they would attempt to schedule someone else from the contractor to come out. I told them "No," they have no clue - and you as the company Lowe's have entered into a service contract with a low budget/low bidder for these services - a company that is clueless and incompetent. So then they offered me some money to keep the refrigerator "as is" (which is unacceptable) - or they would replace the whole refrigerator (guess what incompetent company would again deliver it and botch the install). Neither of these were acceptable options given the incompetence of the installer. So I called Bosch support and explained my dilemma. They issued a code to a local third-party Bosch-authorized service provider - and so - enter "Top Notch Appliance Service." The guy who came out was the owner of Top Notch. After I showed him the fridge, before he even attempted an adjustment of the door, he checked and told me that my fridge was not even close to being level. So he leveled it as best he could - I found out the floor in my kitchen where the refrigerator sits - is not level. After leveling the refrigerator, he adjusted the door. Took him all of 15 minutes or so to do what Lowe's contractor service stated would need a new door. Thanks to the code that Bosch issued - the adjustments were covered. Recently, the heating coil in our oven broke. Having just bought a few other expensive new appliances, we decided to go the repair route with this one and we hired Top Notch. So to get to what you all want to know, they replaced it quickly and for a more than reasonable price. Very little fuss, they were in and out and the oven works perfectly. It isn't exactly easy to find an oven repair person (indeed, in 38 years it's the first time I've needed one!) and I appreciate their good work. So why the 3? All communication. It took me about a week to get in touch with them to where we scheduled an appointment and another week to get the service. Apparently their office is closed on Fridays (which doesn't help). A bit more communication and alacrity would have been appreciated. read more

We had such an amazing experience with Top Notch Appliance Service. John and Josh arrived on time and were very polite. They both wore face masks which we really appreciated. It is hard to find a company and professionals like John and Josh anymore. We have a Viking stove that we've had more than 6-8 technicians come out to attempt to fix our stove in the last year and a half. It's been a nightmare. We were so impressed with John and Josh, wish we knew about them sooner. They're a family run business and they really are the experts, they really know what they're doing and educated us on a few things also. I was given the name of Top Notch by a Bosch representative when my dishwasher wasn't working properly. Upon researching the names the representative gave me, Top Notch was less money for the service call and the reviews I read were great. I was able to have a technician come out within a week. The technician that came out was professional and knowledgeable. He addressed the problem with my dishwasher and said he was able to fix it. He retrieved the part and in about 20-30 minuets, my dishwasher was working again. I would choose Top Notch again for any appliance issues. Top Notch Appliance Service lives up to its name. We bought a cooktop that had to be converted from natural gas to propane and we had a difficult time looking for someone who does this. John, from Top Notch, was excellent and did the conversion professionally. He is very knowledgeable and knew how to look for solutions to problems or lack of information from the installation manual. He also gave us some very good advice on how to safely operate our cooktop and how to maintain our appliances so that they function for a longer period of time. We are so pleased with his work and honesty. The price that he charged us was very reasonable since he also installed the cooktop and connected it to the gas line. My frigidaire ice maker broke and Top Notch was the company sent out for our warranty claim. Josh was polite, professional, and knowledgeable. After he finished his work, he told us to give it a day for the ice maker to start working. By the next day, we had ice but it wasn't dispensing. I called the office and they arranged for Josh to come right back out the next morning. Turns out one of the new parts he'd initially installed was faulty but there was no way he would have been able to tell until the ice maker had gotten cold enough to produce ice. Had a Bosch dishwasher throwing an E23 at start. Called Bosch and they referred me to Top Notch. Top Notch named their visit price up front, came to assess problem (replace pump), gave me a total price (~350) that I accepted. Week later parts came in and they visited again to install, but I managed to have an unrelated bathroom construction plumber need the house water off for a while so Top Notch couldn't test. They replaced the likeliest part and said to call them back if it didn't work. Sure enough, that night I got the water back on and it didn't work. Top Notch returned a few days later to replace the other likely part and it worked instantly. Even though my mistake made them make an extra visit, they stuck to their original quote and didn't charge me any more. Summary: pricey, but worth it. read more

I have a new GE Cafe refrigerator and it needed a new icemaker before it was a year old. As it was under warranty initially went through GE warranty service. It was a horrible experience and never was right. I lived without ice and horrible loud noise for a long time refusing to call back GE warranty service people. I finally reached out and found Top Notch Appliance who was friendly and an expert. I would not recommend this company. We had John come out to look at our refrigerator. After waiting several weeks for the part, John came back to install. Less than two months later the same issue occurred. Top Notch refused to come out again without charging a service fee. They said that it had been more than 30 days because we had waited weeks for the part. Additionally, they said it could be a different problem causing the original issue. Then that means they did not correct the first issue. They charged $450 for the repair. A second repair would be another $100 and who knows what bogus part and labor charge so that brings us up to almost $1000. I could buy a new refrigerator for this price! Avoid this scam company at all costs! Companies like this are the cause of bad reputations of repair companies. read more
