I have my "FACEPALM" moments and late afternoon yesterday was one of them. I had lost the key to my house and with no spare, I was desperate. I called a bunch of local locksmiths but key's plus offered the best price and weren't too far so I decided to choose them from the bunch. In 30 minutes, the locksmith/owner named Derrick came to my place to help me but unfortunately for me, my locks on my door were pic-proof. Derrick spent 15-20 minutes trying to get in anyway. Not only that, but they will take it a step further and try to help you find someone that fits your needs. I got in touch with the guys along with several other locksmiths in the area trying to fashion a few motorcycle keys with only a key code and a severed helmet lock mechanism. I went to another locksmith in the midtown area with pretty good yelp reviews and had 3 keys made for ~$35. Took all 3 back to my house, ready to ride, and then realized that none of the 3 keys made fit into any of my 5 different key locations on my bike. I then spoke with Derrick who kindly forwarded me to Peter, who he believed would be able to evaluate my situation more accurately. I explained my frustration and confusion resulting from my experience with the other locksmith. Peter told me to bring all of the stuff by and he would do his best to help me. On top of that, he said if they couldn't do anything it would be no charge to me. It's nice to actually see such simple and sincere integrity when that's often lacking this day in age. At the end of the day, they quickly fashioned the 2 keys I requested (they all fit like a glove in all 5 locks) and a few key chains for less than $10. I proceeded to talk with the guys for 10 minutes thereafter. It was a ridiculously easy and helpful process, with help from two nice guys, for a price that felt far below the value of the work. I have a 2001 Lexus that needed a new key. I had the remote part, but the key portion fell off. I purchase an un-cut key and shell for the remote online for $15, but I needed the key cut. After searching Yelp for "car locksmiths" in midtown, I decided to call Keys Plus because they had wonderful reviews. I called Keys Plus yesterday morning and Derrick said he can meet me at the shop after I got off work at 4pm. I gave him a call when I got off and he met me at the shop. It only took about 10 minutes for the key to be cut, but it felt like just a few minutes because Derrick didn't just cut my key, he had a conversation with me. I hate going somewhere to get something done and we're just sitting in silence. Derrick was super nice and very personable. After he was done cutting the key, he walked me outside to make sure the key worked in the door and in the ignition and of course, it did! We have used other locksmiths and they were really in and out and have damaged some doors, but from start to finish Able was very professional and detailed. We had a acrylic mirror on our door and instead of destroying it he removed the whole door and took it to his Van to carefully replace the lock. It was seemless. We high do recommend our fellow neighborhood business to anyone and we congratulate his daughter on her graduation.
