Jim got my portable vault open in less than 5 min. This man really has some skills. This was supposed to be a really hard vault to crack and paid a lot of money for it so you would think it's difficult but not for Jim. Tried to leave a tip but he wouldn't take it. I went into their shop today to get a spare key made for a vehicle. I walked in and a woman with long dark hair was on the phone (very briefly) with another employee. She didn't acknowledge me standing at the counter. She walked behind a door and came out with her Subway sandwich and a drink and still did not acknowledge me (even though I was the only other human being standing in the store). She then walked to the back of the store, sat her fat ass down (well, not fat, but definitely plump), and proceeded to stuff her face while continuing to ignore me. This shop was recommended by the East Sac Hardware store to make auto keys. The staff is friendly enough and I informed the employee of the need for a double sided key for a Toyota. He said if it doesn't work, I wont charge you. Well it works, so I had him make a spare. He seemed well informed in his business and all seemed fine. He proceeded to ring me up and hit me with a charge of almost $10 for 2 keys! I asked why so much when their sign says 2.75 per double sided key and he showed me further down the board it's 4.45 for a double sided auto key. I asked "why, it's the same size key and the same amount comes off in the cutting process, and your keys don't cost $4.00 each do they"? He didn't know how to respond to my question, to which I told him "if this is how your rates are then I won't be coming back and can't recommend your shop for any future business". He said ok.... I guarantee these guys are paying no more than $1.50 per blank key and he spent 1 minute at the most making it. At the most..... So, you do the math on the mark up, and if your not too sure this may give you some help. Their going rate for a house call is $70 per hour to make keys! And yes, I do understand a business needs to make money but there's a balance to things. And if you loose customers or have them bad mouth your business, how much does it cost you in the long run? Basically, they want to make $1.00 per minute for their work at the least and more when they can. So, their product may work, but at what cost to you? Just be ready for a high bill no matter what with these guys. read more

I would give them a hundred stars if I could. I never even knew this place existed. I have always gone to East Sac Hardware when I need keys, but they are always rude and today they didn't have what I needed, so they referred me here. There was a problem with my car key and Jim helped me for over an hour, measuring and filing and cutting and doing who knows what else. I even brought my own key in; they made $4 on the deal. That is how much they care about people. We couldn't figure out what the problem was and I ended up leaving without a solution, but nevertheless I couldn't be more satisfied with the service I received. The guys here are all extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I wish there were more establishments like this in the neighborhood; it would make the world a better place. read more

A million thanks to Certified Safe & Lock and Technician Jim! As I was briefly outside locking my side gate, my laundryroom door shut and locked me out of the house. I walked over to Certified and they immediately added me to Technician Jim's service schedule. He arrived within the hour, unlocked my stubborn screendoor and also rekeyed it at the same time, which I was meaning to have done since I moved in 2 years ago. In sum, Certified scheduled me immediately despite being shortstaffed and Technician Jim killed two birds with one stone for such a reasonable price! While calling other locksmiths I got several rude answering companies and when they transferred me to the locksmith guy it sounded like he was on a 2 way radio, "oh that will be $130 up to $200" .
