We keep coming back here from Ohio anytime we are in Louisville. Tar and staff great, coffee is amazing. Been coming since first opened.

This place was amazing, I definitely recommend. Coffee was AMAZING. My friend is a coffee snob and really loved it. Vegan Platter was delicious. I especially loved the red lentils. Warning the did have a little spice but nothing crazy at all. Baklava was not my favorite but it was a different style than I'm used to. My friend loved it because it had cinnamon.

Abol Cafe is under the radar but so worth a visit! It specializes in Ethiopian coffee and actually roasts beans right inside the business. Talked to the owner Tar for just a bit today, and he will be distributing his beans and brews too. Abol also includes a set-up for an Ethiopian coffee ceremony, I believe. I'd be interested in learning more about that. It also has food. I got the croissant sandwich, which had egg and cheese on it -- a great breakfast. I also got the Dalgona coffee, which I got when I visited a couple of years ago as well. This coffee was sweet and smooth -- a definite pick-me-up of a treat. I love that Abol Cafe seems to have continued to flourish over the last couple of years. It also can be found taking part in community events. A definitely must-visit if you love coffee!

A quaint little Ethiopian place. I tried this out for lunch and it was good! I need to look up what some of the food is though and the menu is very limited. However it was a great meal. I got the beef tips with cabbage and the injera (spongey bread)!

Pretty strong coffee! My sister and I got the dolgana and iced coffee that had whipped milk on top. Very delicious and well-presented! It would be cool to come back and try some of the food.

I received an enthusiastic welcome at this Ethiopian cafe. It has a tiny indoor space which is graced by a traditional coffee ceremony display. I'm not a coffee drinker, and Ethiopian coffee is strong stuff, but I did go ahead and get a pleasantly aromatic herbal tea. What appealed to me is the option of getting a high-protein vegetarian breakfast dish. Their ful (stewed fava beans) came with ample garnishes and made for a delicious meal. They had a decent variety of food options, and I was offered some dried fava beans to go to make my own ful at home. In addition to coffee and tea, some smoothie options looked appealing as well. It's a very interesting cosmopolitan cuisine, and I'd bet on anything else they offer being good.

We were on our way to pick up some bakery items around the corner and drove by and saw the sign. Ethiopian Coffee? YES, PLEASE! Ethiopian food and coffee are our favorite things to consume. Instead of the bakery items, we decided that besides the coffee we would purchase breakfast here. Once we walked in, we were greeted so warmly by the owner. He was truly delighted to see us and proudly showed us around and proceeded to explain how they do the coffee ceremony when there are no Covid restrictions on capacity. His delight in sharing his customs was obvious and we were so happy we had stopped. They sanitize the tables for the customers, observe social distancing, and really care about your well-being. We ordered breakfast croissants for the family and I asked if it was possible to get something Gluten-free, he offered to do eggs with Injera and Berbere seasoning on the side, and honestly, I have to say it was DELICIOUS. Better than a croissant! We also ordered Ethiopian coffee to go and he gave us some popcorn to go with it, and also bought a bag of whole beans for the house. Incredible service, and I can't wait to go back to order dinner!

Really amazing! The employee behind the counter was passionate and very helpful. Id come here frequently if I lived in the area. I got the dalgona with almond milk and it definitely works together. The coffee part was nice and thickly whipped up. It's made with Ethiopian beans and my goodness, the flavor is one of the best out there. I went ahead and bought some of the camping coffee bags for future outdoor shenanigans. All I'll need is my camping stove and water and I'm set when camping. If you're in the area, definitely stop by here. There's a good amount of tables to get some work done and even a printer to use!

I had never tried Ethiopian coffee, but after speaking with the owner, Tar, I decided to try Dalgona. OMG! The coffee tasted like an expresso dessert without the high-sugar headache. The Organic Ethiopian coffee is low acidic and does not give the caffeine rush either. I can't wait to go back and try another coffee treat. If you go, ask Tar about the history of the cafe. It is an authentic Ethiopian experience.

How fortunate is this community to have a place like Abol open here. You can tell the passion and pride they have in the culture and food, just have a short chat with the owner and let him enthusiastically describe the menu to you. We have been lucky to have been exposed to the amazing Ethiopian cuisine and culture, here in Louisville, in Atlanta, and in Orlando. Their warmth and hospitality shine through and they are always happy to share their culture with you. Abol is bringing their food and coffee, and opening a restaurant/cafe during these uncertain times takes a lot of courage and deserves to be supported. As plant-based customers, we find plenty of options on their menu, they are flavorful, rich, and healthy, served with a warm smile. Abol Coffee will shine with their own light, with their warm service and amazing menu, meanwhile, lets all support this kind of spirit, it is good for Louisville.

You order at the window, take a buzzer, get your drinks and find somewhere to sit. We (a party of 4) showed up around 11 on a Sunday morning and the line was already out the door. We had a hard time deciding what to order because everything we saw coming out before us looked just as delicious as the last. After the owner greeted us and gave a run down while in line, we settled on the shrimp and grits, steak and eggs, bread pudding french toast with a side of bacon, and a chicken and bacon croissant sandwich. (I wanted to order the biscuits and gravy weekend feature but they were already sold out.) The girl at the register was polite but very soft spoken so we had trouble hearing what she said. The coffee was the perfect temperature for drinking immediately without scalding yourself, and the different flavorings and types of milk/cream to choose from was a major plus! There were no complaints about any of our food except the steak was a bit under seasoned. I had the french toast, and, in my opinion, is enough for 2 people. There was a bit too much whipped buttercream for me but I was able to rake off majority, and the fruit that came on top was so fresh! The bacon was thick sliced and 3 of my 4 pieces were cooked perfectly to my liking - not too crispy, not too soft! We all were part of the clean plate club after eating because the food was that good! I wished now we would have taken pics of our food before eating! It's a shame it came up as #16 on my Yelp search because it wasn't even the least bit on my radar for our breakfast spot. When it's said "they don't make them like this anymore", this place is what they mean. Ornate, elaborate and straight out of another era. The Hot Brown is an open-faced turkey sandwich. A thick slice of turkey is served over thick-sliced bread. The turkey is covered with mornay (béchamel with Gruyère cheese), topped with bacon, sprinkled with parmasean and broiled in a gratin-dish, served with a roasted tomato. It's gooey and cheesy, turkey moist and tender, bacon crisp. Very hearty, very filling. Unique, definitely worth trying. Not sure I'm having another one, but glad I experienced it.

I went to Foko after hearing nonstop hype about it being one of the absolute best breakfast spots…read morein Louisville. The place is positioned as this incredible Mexican breakfast destination, so I figured it had to be something special. Turns out it's just standard Mexican food and drinks. Even if they were using using "the freshest most highest quality ingredients", it doesn't show in the final product at all. Heres what i got: The Espresso Martini ($14) was actually decent--nice and foamy with a solid chocolate note. The Carajillo ($8), on the other hand, was weak. It tasted like plain iced coffee with zero detectable alcohol. I wouldn't order it again. The Wake Up Burrito $14: their biggest hype item. I got it and added chorizo for $3.50, bringing the total to nearly $17.50. It's sausage, cheese, eggs, and beans wrapped up--pretty good, but nothing groundbreaking. Without their green sauce it's completely average, no different from any regular breakfast burrito at a diner. The green sauce itself is what really the only saving grace, but they serve it in tiny thimble-size portions like they're guarding some secret recipe. So for $18 you get a medium-size burrito plus a couple of fried tortillas with cheese on the side. Compare that to mexican spot like Bandito, where the burritos are twice the size and cost much less. This one is seriously overrated. The Chilaquiles - I got the side order of these with the burrito, and were average at best. Just fried tortillas with cheese and a little sauce that had a slightly sour edge. Not bad, but nothing I'd call amazing. I thought to myself, if these had egg and beans(what the main dish has) , would I have been glad to pay $17? The answer is no. Ive had better at the airport. Bottom line: Foko is incredibly overrated. It feels like a tourist trap built for people for those Luisville people who who don't eat much Mexican food and think this is the pinnacle. I get it, the decor is nice and gives that "premium" feel but the prices are way too high for what you actually get. I won't be back.
