Popular coffee and breakfast spot for a good reason. I love love their iced coffee, ice nuggets instead of huge cubes is my favorite. I also tried their breakfast wrap and it's full of flavor and butter. Great service and parking is easy.

Blak Koffee continues to excel -- not just for having great drinks and bites but also for being an awesome space for the community. When I visited recently, a few local artisans were set up around the coffeeshop through its regular Black Business Pop-Ups. And the owner was quick to greet everyone who walked in, welcoming them to the space. The cafe's motto is "Where Coffee, Culture, & Business Meet" -- and this definitely comes across. This also seems like a great coffeeshop to come to if you need to work on your laptop or talk with people -- not easy for a cafe to nail both of these vibes well. When I got there I ordered a tea and chicken salad on a croissant. These came out fast and hit the spot. Blak Koffee is a Louisville community treasure!

The second I walked into Blak Koffee, I was greeted by the owner, the warm sounds of content chatter, and the hustle and bustle of a cozy cafe. The menu looked fantastic, and for coffee, I went with one of their signature drinks--the Black Girl Magic, a honey lavender latte. Lavender can be tricky to get right, but this was beautifully balanced and hit just right. Took my first sip and broke into a lil happy dance. For lunch, I got the buffalo chicken wrap, and my friend went with the fried bologna sandwich. Both were flavorful, and satisfying, but not so heavy that you needed a nap afterward--just perfect light lunch fare. My wrap had the right kick of spice, and I absolutely demolished it. Our barista/server had amazing energy, and the owner took a moment to chat with us about ways they're working to involve the community, which made me love the place even more. This is officially my go-to cafe for lunch meetings. What an awesome spot.

Food was amazingly good. Fresh tasting pancakes. Turkey bacon was cooked perfect. Service was also outstanding very informational about their food and place.

The coffee, the views and the food are all immaculately made by this extraordinary establishment I always order my favorite lavender vanilla latte, The croissant sandwich, pepper jack cheese, scrambled egg, and bacon My absolute favorite breakfast spot in Louisville, and the man at the counter is an absolute goat! Bet he remembers you after your 1st visit, and I'm talking about your last order how it was made and who it was made by. Excellent barista and the professionalism is beyond top-tier I will always be coming back It's a subtle Jazz symphony style music and calm environment

Blak Koffee -- my new rainy-day gem Walked in and instantly loved the crowd -- mostly Black professionals, college students, families, and entrepreneurs. The energy felt ambitious and comforting. I'm not usually a coffee person, but their Black Girl Magic drink (made with oat milk and dairy-free whip) was worth every bit of caffeine and calories. They offer plenty of real food options too, not just pastries, which makes it easy to stay awhile. The only con is the tea selection -- it's decent but nothing special. Music was at a great volume, the atmosphere was relaxed yet lively, and there were lots of easy-to-find outlets for charging devices. Parking was smooth (there's a lot in the back -- probably helped that I came early though). Overall, it's a beautiful, welcoming space -- perfect for studying, working, or just being part of the vibe on a rainy Monday.

Such a cute place and a great way to support the Russell community/ neighborhood. A coworker introduced me to this place and the food was so fresh and the smoothie was delish! Highly recommend and can't wait to come back.

Blakk Koffee offers a refreshingly high-quality experience that stands out in both taste and value. I ordered a Vanilla Cappuccino, which was rich, flavorful, and served in a generous 16-ounce portion--well worth the $6 price tag. The cappuccino was smooth and perfectly balanced, far superior to similar offerings from typical fast-food chains. I also ordered the sausage, which was priced around $4. The sausages were well-prepared, juicy, and had a homemade touch that I really appreciated. It's clear that attention to detail and care go into their food preparation. While my total came to about $11, the quality and portion sizes made it an excellent value, especially when compared to other breakfast options. Blakk Koffee's offerings far surpass the standard fare, making it a great spot for anyone looking for a more satisfying meal and drink. Overall, a highly recommended experience that delivers both taste and value. Any menu recommendations? All of them look as if they were prepared with care and meself in mind. Can I order online? Yes.

Run don't walk!!! This place is such a lovely spot with amazing coffee! I tried the fried chicken sandwich, it was delicious. The buns were toasted and it came with the lettuce, tomato and cheese. For coffee, I got the blak boy joy. I got it iced with almond milk! And wowwwww. It's reminds me a lot of the *good tastes* from a Starbucks Carmel frappe. But it's even better because it's a local spot instead! It is definitely on the sweet side but very worth it. The service was great, I am generally slow to pick out what I want but the lady at the counter was patient with me. They bring your food out when it's ready. It was a nice mix of younger college aged kids and business professionals here, I love that all ages feel comfortable gathering. Overall: amazing food, amazing vibes, and I cannot wait to come back!

Zero complaints! Lovely place. Super clean and definitely business friendly. Guests wifi and plugs available for chargers. Excellent customer service. The food is delicious! I love the menu... a variety of items to choose from. The croissant is so good and pairs perfectly for the breakfast sandwich. The chicken wings and waffle were good as well. On my next visit, I would love to try the C&W with the chicken breast and also try the chicken sandwich.

I ordered the shrimp and grits, and without exaggeration, they were the best I've ever had. The shrimp were perfectly cooked, and the balance of textures throughout the dish was incredible. Every bite had the perfect amount of crunch, flavor, and toppings. Nothing felt overwhelming or out of place. It was one of those meals where you find yourself slowing down just to enjoy every bite. Even the water deserves a mention. It was clean, crisp, and refreshing. If it came straight from the tap, I would have never known. It's a small detail, but it speaks to the overall dining experience when even something as simple as water stands out. The service was great, and the atmosphere was lively and welcoming. It's easy to see why this restaurant has built such a strong reputation. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 comes down to accessibility. As a person with a disability, parking can make or break a dining experience. Unfortunately, there was no handicap parking available, and there were no nearby parking spots open when I arrived. I ultimately had to park in a hotel lot about a block away, which cost $25 for just two hours. Not only was the cost frustrating, but the additional distance was challenging given my mobility needs. The food was phenomenal and absolutely worth trying, but I do hope accessibility becomes part of the conversation for future guests. For those without mobility concerns, this may not be an issue, but for disabled patrons, it's something important to consider before visiting.

"Down on the corner Out in the street…read moreWilly and the poorboys are playin' Bring a nickel, tap your feet" (Creedence Clearwater Revival) Believe it or not, there's a section of downtown Louisville known as Whiskey Row. The Corner restaurant is smack in the middle of Whiskey Row and you won't be disappointed when I tell they sell over 90 different bourbons. The interior is an eclectic mix of tables, chairs, sofas and seating nooks. Some of their space is shared with the Aloft Louisville Downtown hotel, a Marriott boutique hotel. We grabbed two seats at the bar and had two cocktails and two salads for lunch. Our drinks were a Pomegranate Mule ($13.00) with Pomegranate, ginger beer, vodka, and lime, and a regular Margarita. I had a Chicken Cobb Salad ($15.00) with chicken, romaine, deviled eggs, avocado, charred sweet corn, cherry tomato, radish, pickled onion, sunflower seeds, ranch, lemon drizzle. It was excellent, but the Deviled Eggs were missing and replaced by avocado slices. My traveling companion had a Classic Caesar ($13.00) with Romaine, Caesar dressing, parmesan croutons, and crispy kale. She added Chicken for a $6.00 upcharge. The Corner is "dog friendly" and we were thoroughly entertained by the antics of a Great Dane and Bulldog as they interacted. Our server was fantastic, and I'm sorry I missed her name, although I did take a few photos of her mixing and shaking some cocktails.

I don't know if this is a thing they do at Doc Crow's, but in my opinion the bartender excessively kept asking me what I wanted even while I was still looking at the menu. This definitely frustrated me since it was clear that I wasn't ready yet. I think she should have done a better job reading my cues to figure out when I am ready to order.

My top-tier chum who literally went to the school of hospitality and I spent most of the afternoon on a bourbon tour and a post-tour distillery so...food was needed. And quickly. In our mild defense, we didn't really know how the day was going to go or when we were actually going to have dinner, which made it a little tougher to pre-plan, but no research went into this at all and we paid for it. We wrapped up our bourbon adventures at the Angel's Envy distillery probably five or six blocks from here. Instead of being grownups and doing at least a quick/impromptu recon for spots, we literally just walked outside and down W Main St until we hit something. And we hit this, which was right on the edge of the main tourist area, pretty much Louisville's equivalent of the Times Square/MSG area. And as someone who works and used to live in NYC, you'd have to do a lot of convincing to get me to eat in that particular area - it's overpriced and the food/service just tends to not be very good, which makes you wonder what the appeal is for tourists beyond the convenience. But regardless, it's always struck me as an odd way for a tourism spot to put its best foot forward (or not). Doc Crow's is enormous, and when we were brought further into the restaurant to our table, I think we literally walked through three or four large rooms and navigated through multiple passageways. If you told me this place took up an entire city block or close to it, I'd believe you. Beyond the size/scope, there's nothing really distinctive that separates it from the myriad of other restaurants you'd expect to see catering to out-of-towners. It was the Friday evening of Memorial Day Weekend, so a place that I suspect is usually pretty busy was even busier and louder than that. Maybe not the greatest recipe after a bourbon tour, but who can say. On the app front, we got the Crispy Salmon Bites, which were fine. Not an item I typically see on a menu, even one with more of a seafood bent. I thought the cornmeal/panko breading was the right call; I'm a big catfish aficionado, so I'm of the opinion that cornmeal is underutilized, at least in the Northeast where I come from. Otherwise, nothing really mind-blowing there; probably would have made sense for it to be a different type of fish given the prep (I think salmon is best raw in a sushi roll or grilled), but it could have been worse. I don't think a ton of thought went into this on my end, but I went with the full rack BBQ ribs, along with a side of mac n' cheese. Again, okay, though not as flavorful as I would have hoped and I thought the ribs were on the dry side. Not their fault, but I always regret getting the full rack in hindsight because ribs have a deceptively significant amount of meat on the bones and a half rack is a very decent portion by itself; I am a work in progress just like everyone else. The mac n' cheese was also pretty dry, which I think you can see pretty obviously in the accompanying picture. Tasted and felt reheated at least once or twice. The service was pretty efficient given how busy it was, but our waiter was just on robotic autopilot. Not remotely personable and everything I said to him was responded to with, "For sure, for sure." Maybe he was having a rough night to start the holiday weekend, but it felt like he was just going through the motions and just checking off some boxes there. I went into this already predisposed to not like the generic tourist trap places, so grain of salt. But my recommendation if you have the time/bandwidth (now that I'm a cagey Louisville vet) is to bypass this area if you can and find something tastier and more interesting in the Highlands neighborhood. That's where the real ones are.

They place your order in a bag with your name on it at the door. You don't have to speak to anyone. Perfect! Walking up to this place feels like you're transported to another dimension. It doesn't feel like Louisville at all. The place was busy. Atmosphere was inviting. I could definitely hang out there while I eat. I'll try some more of their dishes but I do have a few things to note. The cost: It's downtown so an expectation of higher prices is expected. They do give you a decent portion size but with other options and the ultimate option of bringing your lunch with you, it's going to be hard for me to revisit this place in the future. I do hope I can give their breakfast a try if I'm down there early enough. Even with their breakfast, it better be DOUBLE GOOD because the PNC building has breakfast nearby and you can have an excellent breakfast there for 5-10 bucks. The food: Achiote Chicken Taco Bowl - White rice. Achiote Chicken Thigh. Diced tomato. Monterrey jack cheese. Sour Cream. Tortilla Chips. Avo smash. Cilantro. Charred pepper ranch. It was good but nothing really stuck out about it. Bites had flavor but eventually it turned into a bland dish. I ended up saving it for later time leftovers... but when trying to eat it later on in the day, it had that same bland taste that developed. I think the biggest issue with it was all the smashed avocado. It definitely didn't need so much. It ended up overpowering all the other flavors. It's a good spot to change it up from other options downtown but I can't rave about it until I come across my 'go-to' dish here at some point.

The decor is quite unique, full of character, and the history adds to the experience. It feels like you're eating in a place that actually has stories to tell rather than another cookie-cutter restaurant. The food was good overall. The wings were excellent and definitely the highlight of the meal. I tried the lime sauce, which was good, though it tasted much more like a ranch-based sauce than I expected. My burger was cooked well, flavorful, and delicious... though I was disappointed to not see the caramelizes onions promised on the menu on it. Instead there was a sad looking single piece of raw onion. Oh well. The sandwich on rye was just okay--not bad, but it didn't stand out. Fries were good and perfectly seasoned. Service was friendly and attentive, although things moved a little slower than expected during our visit. Now for the bathroom area... let's just say the journey to get there felt like the opening scene of a horror movie where someone says, "I'll be right back." It definitely adds to the pub's quirky charm, but I do wish that area--and the restaurant in general--were a bit cleaner. Overall, Troll Pub is worth a visit for the atmosphere, history, and great wings. Come for the unique experience, stay for the burger, and maybe bring a flashlight for the bathroom adventure.

Stevens Deli was recommended to me as a real deli, something we don't have in Lexington. I ordered…read morethe 1/2 Pastrami and a side of potato salad. A winner! There is a large menu board as you walk in the side door (the deli is located in the back of Dittos restaurant). They primary have soups salads and sandwiches and daily soup specials. You order at the counter, pay for your order, get your drink at the beverage area and have a seat. They will then bring your order to your table. We both opted for the pick two combo. It had lots of shredded chicken, beans and corn (which could have been left out in my opinion). My friend had the chicken salad sandwich and the white chili and said her sandwich was good, also a very large. Nice atmosphere, friendly staff, parking on the side and in the back of the building. I had not been for years but it was a good choice for a late lunch.
