Kind, supportive, attentive. I couldn't have asked for a better experience every time I have gone. They are pricey, yes, but honestly, I felt SO taken care of, and felt my dogs were in the absolute best hands at times when I was so exhausted and distraught, that it is absolutely worth worrying about finances later. I can't tell you how thankful I am knowing there are such incredibly skilled and caring experts in my area that are open 24 hours and have specialty departments. I also very much appreciate the ability to text them, it makes my life a lot easier.

Calls are rarely returned, communication is almost nonexistent, and getting something as simple as a prescription refill has turned into a nightmare. My dog depends on his medication to eat properly, yet I was told I now need to pay for another doctor's appointment just because the previous veterinarian left over a year ago -- something they never bothered to properly communicate to pet owners. How is that acceptable? To make matters worse, they don't even have appointments available until mid-July. So what exactly are patients supposed to do in the meantime? Wait until their pets are seriously suffering just to be seen and get medication they already rely on? There seems to be a complete lack of urgency, compassion, and accountability. Pet owners trust clinics with the wellbeing of their animals, and this experience has been beyond frustrating and honestly heartbreaking

I feel like other vet offices I've been to (before Modern) haven't had the same "it's ok we got you" vibe. I've historically been expected to navigate/lead the visit by holding the cat which is fine of course, but Modern always takes charge in the softest way and Christian really made us all feel safe. He held her still, he spoke gently, and he looked very comfortable doing so. It was such a treat to have someone take lead when I'm feeling so sad my kitty isn't well (just an ear infection lol but still!) And Bella! So nice and helpful. Somehow my husband, my one year old, and my cat all had an ear infection at the same time and she heard that I was stressed about my one year old and she took special interest to fit us into an appointment that worked for us. Her enthusiasm to accommodate our personal needs was such a breath of fresh air. My family really appreciates this office - the staff, the coffee they keep in the fridge for guests, and of course the vet docs too! Great team all around.

Bella at the front desk is the absolute best. She is always so kind, calm, and welcoming, even during the most stressful visits. Every single vet tech, such as Casey, have taken care of us like our dogs are the most important celebrity dogs. Thank you for treating our babies with so much love, both us the parents and our pups feel the loving energy you carry every time. Every vet we've seen has been incredible. Dr. Phan, Dr. Patty when she was there, and Dr. Van Zant have all been heroes to us. Please forgive me if I am forgetting any names. We've had some really close calls with one of my pups (Simba) and this team has gone above and beyond every single time. Their compassion, patience, and genuine care mean more to my husband and I than we could ever put into words. Everything from the app to the in person appointments has been such a comforting, seamless experience. We are so deeply grateful to have this team caring for our babies. We truly appreciate them so so much! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!!!

From the moment we walked in, she was dismissive, rude, and arrogant. She barely made eye contact with me the entire appointment and directed almost all her attention and responses to my husband, even when I was the one asking questions. I had legitimate concerns and follow-up questions about vaccinations and nutrition recommendations. Our breeder had specifically advised a certain food, and when I mentioned that and asked for her thoughts, Dr. McCrimmon became visibly defensive. Instead of having a professional conversation or explaining her reasoning calmly, she acted like my questions were a personal attack. She responded in a pompous and condescending way that made us both uncomfortable. The male nurse who administered the vaccine was actually very kind and patiently answered my questions, which was a small bright spot. However, by that point Dr. McCrimmon had already completely derailed the visit, and the overall experience left us feeling disrespected and stressed. She also engaged in heavy fear-mongering, warning that if our puppy's testicles don't descend he'll get testicular cancer, along with a few other dramatic health risks. While I understand the importance of being informed, the delivery was unnecessarily alarming and unhelpful for first-time puppy parents who were already excited and nervous. We left feeling unsupported rather than cared for. As pet owners, we're allowed to ask questions and hear different opinions--especially when it comes to our puppy's health. This is not the compassionate, collaborative care we were hoping for. I would not recommend this clinic or Dr. McCrimmon. We'll be finding a different vet moving forward.

If you are a resident of Sherman Oaks and are a critical thinker, think twice about this local veterinarian. It came highly recommended by a neighbor. I had high hopes and wanted to support this female centric place, however, as a dog mom I would never recommend it due to poor communication, lack of accountability and customer service and a defensive/ hostile stance when questioned. I went back for a recheck of my dog's allergies and skin growths. Note that there are two problems I was seen for initially and the follow up was to include both. This was not the case. I had to remind Dr. Cortez to remeasure my dog's growths. Not all of the growths were measured and there were no recommendations communicated for care. She was focused on his allergies, which had not resolved. I received VERBAL directions for 4 DIFFERENT TASKS and was told she would email me. In the days that followed I called the office and asked for my summary and instructions. I' was told they would be emailed. This happened three times. Nothing was emailed. I was not informed that Dr. Cortez was sick until I was also being instructed not to come back in the email shown below. It's sad that Southpaw won't take any accountability for the excessive wait, poor communication and lacking customer service. I think customer service is a thing of the past, but it's a quality that's important to me. There was no apology or anything that even approached an apology. If you value the ability to ask questions and discuss issues about your fur baby as they arise then this is not your veterinarian either.

My kitty had been sick, throwing up, diarrhea, didn't want to play or eat, or be touched, she didn't meow for 2 weeks. When I called VMC on Monday 12/15, they didn't see her until 12/19. They charged me $700 for blood work and sent us home. By 12/23 we spent 12 hours and $1700 in the Vet ER. My kitty had an ultrasound, more blood work, and was sent home with meds. And then by 1/5, but the grace of G-d, my friend Nicole referred my to BLVD PET CLINIC and they saw my kitty within 24 hours. Maria and Brenda in the front were lovely, kind, and compassionate both on the phone and in person. Dr. Schwartz is absolutely WONDERFUL! He was patient and thorough, and after 40 years of owning his own Vet Practice, knew what meds my kitty needed immediately. Within 48 hours she was eating and more social. After 2 weeks, we had completely turned a corner. There have been some small issues, but when I call their office, Dr. Schwartz calls me back within 15 minutes, and has a solution to whatever is ailing my kitty. And always recommends not bringing her in to further traumatize her, and has new meds ready immediately for me to come pick up. I only wish I had found this office 20 years ago when I moved out here to LA, but super grateful this is now our new permanent home and veterinary care facility. My kitty is on her way back to health, and I owe it ALL to Dr. Schwartz! THANK YOU EVERYONE at BLVD PET CLINIC for your love, compassion, and services. LOOK NO FURTHER! We were hesitant to pay that amount since it was an expense not expected especially after already paying for an initial check up and vaccinations elsewhere (our cat adopted us - she just showed up in the backyard so we took her under our wing since knew the shelters are so overpopulated). Dr. Shukhman is so kind and can tell helping animals is his passion. Had a follow up question after the surgery and Mauricio was so helpful too. If your pets pick up time is before 1PM, they will contact you. The expectation is for you to come pick up your animal promptly after the call to avoid stress on the animals so make sure you hang out close to the location if don't live close. They also offer other services that can be done at the same time like microchips which we opted for as well.
