ANIMAL ABUSERS I had been leaving my dog with Four Paws but in mid June I left her overnight and was shocked at what I saw on video - she was dragged three times, by two DIFFERENT people over a 36 hour period. My dog was not misbehaving - she is a small frenchie and I saw other dogs of similar sizes properly lifted by staff. She is not aggressive nor does she fight being lifted, even by strangers. When I went to pick up my dog, I politely asked the person as the desk (who wasn't involved with these incidents) if there was a reason my dog was dragged by her collar. I was told there was no reason and that it wasn't their policy to do so. I asked for a manager to reach out to me to discuss it. I'm writing this review in November as that gave Four Paws time to reach out. NO ONE reached out, I was charged for a visit where I presented screen grabs of their live cam showing the dragging and I hope everyone avoids this place forever. I've been bringing my dogs to Four Paws Day Care since they were newborn babies. The front desk staff used to be so nice and friendly. Today I brought my pups in, one of them has been having back issues so I asked if they could be in a kennel today (have done this several times in the past). The red haired lady at the front desk said "NO they have to socialize with the other dogs, we do not and never have put dogs in kennels." I explained my dog situation and this was just a today thing, she would not budge. I have no alternative but to leave my dogs at home with potty pads and go to work. They will be alone for eight hours. This will be the last time I ever use four paws daycare. No reason for this behavior. read more

This place used to be the best. Now they just shave our dogs to naked and say there is nothing they can do. The last 2 visits have been abysmal but it started going down hill sometime last year. I can't in good conscience send my dogs back here. We have told them repeatedly about our newborn baby and they still do nothing about the nails. They claim the dog is matted which is complete bs. Incredibly rude and disorganized front desk staff. I've been a long time customer of four paws with my previous dogs. I brought my new 3 year old golden retriever in to have a simple bath. He's a registered Service Animal travels the world with me, he has been to 11 different countries and 72 airline flights,. He had been approved several times by the US deoartment of agriculture . I sent them his international European pet passport to review his vaccination records which is a requirement of every country international country he enters. We just returned from Canada on Friday , who also requires all his vaccinations be up to date . The front desk staff could not figure out how to open documents on the computer or verify, his vaccination records. I gave them the number to studio city pet hospital who has all of his records on file . They could not be bothers to call them. He has had no problem traveling into London and all over the world, but a local Studio city pet grooming business couldn't figure it out. They wasted my time and on top of it were rude. I will not be returning and I don't recommend this business. I drove 1/2 a mile down the street and took him to WIGGLES dog groomers . Who took him right away with no appointment. They are also cheaper and took half the time . They don't keep your animal caged up for hours . I don't know what has happened to the management and owners of Four paws . Dear customers I want you to be aware of this company. They are posting videos of you picking your dog up and dropping them off. In my case they posted a YouTube video without my authority of the conversation that I had with them when I pick my dog up and dropped my dog off. In response to a bad review that I gave them. I recently got off the phone with the owners staff and they blackmailed me and said verbatim that if I take my review off they will take the videos off. What this company is not telling you is that I've had my dog there a couple of times and the one video that they are posting of me picking my dog up and dropping them off is not related to the incident In question. My review was based on the experience that I had when I had my dog there for three weeks and my dad came to pick the dog up. They gave my dad a hard time and they would not honor the discount that they promised me. Now they've taken it upon themselves to record the video and upload video/audio on social media exposing My financial credit cards to the world. They are trying to make it look like there was no problem with me picking my dog up when there was actually. Just read up on some reviews and very surprised with some of the bad reviews. To be honest, if I were to have seen those reviews previously I wouldn't have come. I've gone to the West LA location and had a great experience so when I saw a groupon offer for this location, I wanted to try it out since it is closer to me. I feel terrible about the other people's experience but I can only share my personal experience. The first day I brought my dog here there were lots of dogs in the pin. More than what my dog Andy is used to. It looked close to 20 dogs. Being that it was his first day and so many dogs in one area, he looked overwhelmed in the puppy cam which was expected. He came home exhausted which is normal after all full day. I did notice a bump on his neck which appeared to be a bite that he did not have prior to coming in. Not sure if it's a flea bite or what but the bump was large enough to be obvious. Not a huge concern since it was only one bump and with that many dogs in a pin I didn't think too much about it. Luckily, the bump went down several days later and all is normal. Today was his second day back at daycare which has been a week or so apart from the first visit. There was not as many dogs as the first visit but still a full house and he appeared way more comfortable! He was having a blast socializing all throughout the day as I peeked in from time to time on their puppy cam. I let them know when I came in that it was Andy's birthday and they offered us a free birthday wash. That was so sweet! They let him play all day and bathed right before pick up time. I took my dog to get groomed here today, I have been going to this place for a while now. I pick her up with with a story that "she hit her mouth on the grooming table pole which caused her mouth to bleed." I noticed her eyes were bloodshot so I took her to the vet immediately. The vet said it was caused by strangulation. She has bruises all over her body, razor burns on her stomach, as well as broken blood vessels in both her eyes. $500 on vet bills to find out my dog was strangled at this grooming place. I took my dogs to Four Paws for boarding this past weekend. One of my dogs started having 104.5 fever, vomiting and had difficulty breathing starting on Monday, one day after picking them up. I had to take him to an emergency vet at midnight last night. He is still in the hospital with IVs hooked up and I am looking at a 5K bill, minimum. Most importantly, he is sick and THAT SUCKS. I am told by the vet that he has kennel cough or someting similar that most likely came from the boarding facility, as stuff is going around those facilities. It would be great if Four Paws disclosed this very important information to their clients. There is nothing on their website that discloses the risks of the current issues going around. Also intersting how their puppy cams show very little to nothing. Cleaniless is everything and I found this place to not be very clean in general. read more

I and my dog have had the absolute worst experience at this facility. The manager and owner of this establishment do not care about dogs and they are extremely rude and unfair people. Let me say this before I get into details, I really don't like yelp reviews good or bad. I own a small business and the stress of having to deal with people threatening businesses with yelp is just insane, however I have made a difficult choice to use yelp not to hurt the business but to stop them from causing extreme harm and pain to other dogs. If you are a dog owner then like me I'm sure many of you think of your dog as part of your family, some might even say like a child. Dogs rely on us as humans to protect them, love them and nurture them. When they are in pain it is our responsibility to care for them, they can't speak or go to a vet by themselves they need us! Now I have been sending my dog here for about 4-5 years. I've always had good experiences here so I would recommend the place to my local friends, neighbors and customers of my business if they ever needed dog related care. Recently, the last week of July I took my dog to go and get bathed and groomed. He came back infested with fleas. Now some people might say how do you know it's from here, my dog doesn't go to any dog parks, we keep him on concrete in our yard and he doesn't interact with other random dogs. He is a house dog through and through, the only other place my dog had gone to was this facility so I am sure. The fleas caused an allergic reaction in my dogs skin, he started to scratch and bite at it, his skin was bleeding and started to become infected. The infections turned into a yeast infection and his fur and skin is now peeling and falling off. Some of you reading this might be thinking what the hell was I doing while my dog was suffering this much, I got him meds right away, medicated shampoo, and shots from the vet to stop inflammation and itching. I've already racked up $600 in vet bills. What drives me nuts is not the money though, it's looking at my dog in pain, the medication is so strong he throws up at least twice a day and can barely eat so now he is losing weight as well. The vet said this is going to take about 1-2 months to completely heal. The stress and anxiety of being in constant pain has now even given my dog blood pressure problems so he is on blood pressure medication as well! Now this is why I'm writing this. I called the facility 3 times and requested to speak with a manager or owner In hopes to work this out and Give the business a chance to do right, nobody called me back until on the fourth time I was finally able to catch the manager. I spoke with her and explained the situation and I asked her to speak with the owner and provide a solution. They just called me after about 3 days and said, they can't do anything for us beyond a 10% discount on a future visit. what the heck makes you think I'm ever going back there? How they choose to run their business is up to them and I can't change that. I hope though that people will be more cautious about sending their dogs into this facility. Our dog Scoop has the best time going to Four Paws for doggie day care. He pulls his leash to get inside and he does his loops around the other dogs all day. The best part is, we get to watch him on the puppy cams! We send out the link so his grandma can keep an eye on him, too. Being able to check in on Scoop at doggie dog during the day is genius and gives us extra confidence that he's in good hands. We purchase the 10-day day-care pack, which makes sending Scoop-a-loop several times a week more affordable than any other facility. On the few occasions we've had to board our dog over night (or for a week a couple times), they always gave him his meds on time. Since Scoopertino has a very specific diet, Four Paws has been very accommodating. They've always kept part of his food refrigerated and mixed the appropriate quantities, no problem. Everyone who works the front is very kind and you can tell they really love dogs (which isn't always a given with some places). Special shout out to Dwayne. His greetings every morning have made us feel at home since we've started going to Four Paws. He really makes us feel welcome. I'm not sure if the place would run the same without him. read more

Four Paws is awesome! We took our little Maltichon, King Louis, in for a last minute grooming -it was awesome that they were able to accommodate us- since he was overdue. Unfortunately, I don't remember the females name that helped us, but she was awesome. Very helpful and talked us through the process regarding his cut, his teeth and such. The time we were given was about 3 hrs, possibly due to the other doggies before us. $45 seems reasonably priced for the grooming, cut of nails and rear-end cleaning. Teeth brushing was free due to the check in. Upon picking up our little King, we were amazed and shocked with the result! We couldn't have been happier, he looked like a million bucks and ready to hit the town with his new image. Whenever King Louis needs a grooming we'll probably wind up coming back, it's awesome place and they know what they are doing! read more

Recently brought my puppy here for boarding. After I got home from dropping him off I checked the cameras only to find that he was never put in with the other dogs - over 30 minutes had passed. Next thing you know, the cameras shut off an hour early so it seemed like he was just put into his sleeping quarters at 4:30pm. I called, no answer. Assuming they closed early and didn't think it was necessary to let me know. The next morning when he was picked up he smelled TERRIBLE and was covered in what I later found out was the cleaner they use to clean up urine. No joke, covered head to toe. When I called they didn't seem to care, no apology and terrible customer service. My dog seemed totally traumatized by this place. The only reason I gave 2 stars is because the girl who worked reception on the day of my dogs personality test was extremely nice and helpful. Do not take your pets here! Overcharged, hardly any supervision provided on my dog. I felt unsafe keeping my dog here. Staff is rarely seen on site. Long unecessary waits on grooming appointments. Please take your dogs elsewhere. There are others places in which they provide actual daycare. Also, don't believe just because that they have cameras means that they're effeciantly monitoring your pets. They're all in blind spots whete if something happened to your pet, you would have no evidence. They also won't let you do tours to see the place before droping your dog off. I take the responsibility of reviews very seriously and with great thought. I don't know if I believe the idea that yelp reviews can make or break your business, but as a business owner I know the importance of valuing your clients. This place was recommended by my trainer whose other client goes here. I brought my 4.5 month puppy here for a trial last week. He happily went and passed his temp test. He spent an hour here. I didn't like the urine smell in reception area but dogs will pee....Staff was fine, at first. I disclosed all his puppy habits, commands he responds to, his socialization etc. In other words I did everything to ensure a great experience for my pup. From the live cam it was observed and documented that 3 larger dogs ganged up on him at least a few times and this was not broken up promptly or effectively bc it happened more than once. I mentioned this to the daycare and their response was 'he's a social and lovely puppy'.....I didn't get a tour of facility but was told he would be in w puppies and none larger than him. This was a lie. I later found out all 3 dogs were larger than him and at least one was an adult. When I picked him up he seemed ok but when we got to the car I had to pick him up. Once home he started limping and I was concerned but didn't know what to make of it as the facility didn't report ANYTHING to me. He slept and when it was time to go out he was limping seriously. We were going to the dog park for a meet up w his trainer and I texted her we wouldn't go bc I was very concerned my puppy was injured. I called the facility and left a message and emailed them. I was brushed off and told that they hoped he 'recovered soon'. I called his vet who said it was sounded like an injury had occurred at daycare. When he went to the vet, still limping I was told an incident had definitely occurred which caused the limp. An exam and X-rays were performed and almost 500.00 later he was put on rest for at least a week. We don't know if there was some ligament damage bc the vet advised against further diagnostic testing. No offer or acknowledgement of responsibility from the facility about covering his vet bill, and really no appropriate response overall. I was told the video was not recorded (live feed) although it would've been helpful for the vet in figuring out what happened. This is an industry that requires liability insurance and is regulated. The facility exhibited negligence in this instance, yet has not taken any responsibility. They told my dog trainer after this, that he was probably injured at the dog park later that day (he never attended the park due to his injury that day) and they hoped he returned. My hope is that the owner reaches out to me to amicably resolve this vs me taking action and makes sure that although his staff are not possibly dog trainers, that they don't allow larger dogs to gang up on a PUPPY. read more

Love this place! We were having issues with our six month old Husky/Inu, Penny, howling during the day while we were away at work. We drop her off anywhere between 2 and 3 times a week. She plays and interacts with other dogs from 7am til 6:30pm. What a world of difference it has made on her. She has free reign in one of two pens, and has an absolute blast. They also provide web cam links so while I'm at work I can check in on her. We pay a reasonable $30 a day, and since bringing Penny here, she no longer howls when she's on her own! Well worth the money, so much so, we booked her in for a week while we go away. It's a huge relief knowing we can check in on her, and she won't spend her time there in a kennel, other than to sleep. read more

OMG, I needed this Laughter at such a tough time, so I decided to thank Four Paws and the new groomer (artist?), although I can tell my poor dog is not too happy. So, I took him in for a grooming and when I picked him up it was kind of tough to realize the change that was made (long day at my own office), but when I got him home I realized that my dog looked very different. At first I was upset because I dropped off a gorgeous mini schnauzer and picked up what looked like a sickly rat or a possum? But I got to thinking, and now I'm actually very happy with the eccentric/artistic haircut! Its almost a "fashion forward" cut!! Yes my dog looks like he was just run over by a car, but what is the point of being attractive if there are so many other attractive dogs out there? I highly recommend getting your grooming done at 4 paws off Ventura if you are getting bored with quarantine and need a good laugh, and don't worry you can wear a mask over your face when you walk your new bizarre looking dog in the neighborhood so nobody will recognize you!!!! read more

I wasn't going to say anything because I hate writing negative reviews but I just have to warn everyone, do not bring your dog here! On 3/6 I took Maxx in for a trim which they did some what of a fine job. But when I brought him home, I noticed some blood near his right eyelid, I assumed the groomer got to close with the clipper. Since then he's has the worst infection that I've been doing my best to heal. The day after the cut I noticed him scratching hit butt a lot when I check him he had a rash, bloody and beginning to crust. Everyday I look closer at his body since he's a Shih Tzu and has a ton of hair and I keep finding new bumps everyday. Today when I was checking him and his genital areas (where he was definitely shaved) he has little red bumps with yellow puss on them! For the past two days he does not want to eat and I'm really beginning to worry! And may I just add he wears a tick/flea collar every time he goes outside, so no, this did not just happen. Maxx has not been the same since his cut. Do not bring your pet here! Please don't make my same mistake! read more

Like most pet parents, I am over protective of my fur baby. But the staff at Four Paws take such good care of him and of me! They always are friendly, and rest my paranoid head. My baby, Scooby, is around 40lbs so he's in the big/medium yard. I love that I can check the cameras to see how he's doing (when he's in range, Dwayne, who's amazing btw (more on him below), tells me that Scooby likes to hang out by the trainers and caretakers but he still plays. The staff, especially Dwayne and Sabrina, are super cool!!! Dwayne is such a joy to talk to and I love seeing him, as does Scooby! Sabrina is amazing and always is super helpful when I call all paranoid to check on Scooby. They have been super kind to us from the get-go and I really appreciate that. Scooby gets really excited when he goes to day care as he knows he's going to have a great day with other doggies and when I come to pick him up he's super happy to see me. I LOVE Four Paws and don't want to go anywhere else. They also can pick up/drop off your furry child for a few extra bucks each direction which, when you work in a bar like I do, is super helpful!!! read more

Ignorant and inconsiderate staff. Did not consider any of my requests, lost our  appointment. My dog got sick after the visit because the groomer did something I specifically requested not to do. The dog is miserable in pain, so I paid $200 for a vet visit.  The owner is really ignorant and rude, refused to reimburse and does not want to recognise his groomer's fault. After many dollars spent and what we thought was an honest friendship and place to do business with seemingly genuine staff... it turns out they might not actually want to hear what you instruct at all. Unfortunately the owner Alex is a over talking man, who only wants to hear himself and his opinion. I will suggest you take your money and more importantly your dogs elsewhere. Sad in this day and age of male dominance, he would take such a mean and condescending and cocky stand. Alex you lost my business and I don't like to be played that. You shaved and burned out cocker spaniel and took off his chops that were not matted!! Simple request to not touch those. And ya did. And I tipped and the cockers nails weren't trimmed after all. I left my dog here for a week over the holiday break, and a few days in, I decided to look at the puppy cam to see how he was doing. I was appalled to see he was lying down on a dirty mop they use to wipe the floor that regularly has dog pee and poop on it. I immediately called Four Paws and asked them to remove him from the mop, and the woman who answered the phone said, "oh yeah, I took him off of it like 4 or 5 times earlier, but he kept going back." Me: "Well I don't want him on it." Her: "I can see my attendant taking him off right now." I hung up thinking the issue was resolved. Cut to about 10 minutes later, I looked at the puppy camera, and my dog was on the mop again. I had to call again. I asked why he was still on the mop. The woman said, "because last time you called, my attendant was taking him off." Since they couldn't do the simplest task of keeping my 16 pound dog off of a dirty mop, I asked them to put my dog in his kennel. How hard would it have been to remove the mop from the floor or block it with something that would prevent dogs from lying on it? I wish I could say this was the worst of it, but when I picked up my dog , who's usually calm and very low energy, he was shaking badly. I walked him about 20 steps and knew something was wrong. He could barely walk. Now, in full disclosure, my dog always walked with a limp, but this was on another level. He fell down multiple times trying to go the bathroom, which had never happened before. For comparison's sake, I left my dog with another daycare a few weeks back, and he was returned to me without any problems. He definitely wasn't shaking. And he certainly wasn't having a problem standing up to go to the bathroom. I'm giving Four Paws two stars because I'd previously left my dog in doggie daycare without issue. This doggie day care started off being a step up from the previous place I took my dog to. However, in the last few months things have gone down hill. Be prepared to provide updated shot records every time you take your dog here because the employees can't be bothered to save the records that are not expired you've sent them on more than one occasion. On top of that, the staff that is in charge of answering the phone is incredibly rude and doesn't seem like they want to be there. The only reason I am giving two stars is because Dwayne is wonderful, their other employees should take notes from him and work on their customer service. read more

We used to bring our puppy here almost every day. The staff is friendly enough but I think the way that the place is managed leaves room for improvement. The last time that we boarded our puppy here she injured herself jumping off of one of their slides. I understand that it is not the facilities fault but the manager didn't even call us himself he had one of the staffers call us. Our puppy also had an easy walk harness and they couldn't ever seem to put it on properly. We also once saw our puppy poop and eat her poop on the camera that they use there. I know this is something that dogs do but we thought someone was always watching them so that was a bit disappointing (and gross!) Anywho, after a lot of research and talking to various specialists and pet owners who's dogs have had a similar injury we found out that it is really bad for your pet's joints to have them running around on slippery surfaces all day. We now use a company called Have A Nice Walk. They come to our place and take our puppy to Laurel Canyon Dog Park where she has a wide open field to run around in and she comes home purely exhausted whenever she goes. Our pup hasn't sustained any injuries and she's been with Have A Nice Walk for about 6 or so months. We love it! read more

I had been taking my two dogs to Four Paws for about a year after Happy Tails closed down. Initially I was really happy. The staff that was there at the time really seemed to understand the animals. I have two dogs with two very different personalities and both were attending daycare 3 or so times a week. Initially both dogs were able to play with other dogs, in fact I tuned in on the webcam more than once to see both of my dogs playing with other dogs and the staff. Both dogs would get rave reviews about how great they did. / There were of course instances where one might have gotten nippy or too rough but nothing was EVER mentioned to me about them not being able to play with other dogs or being completely segregated. I picked up my dog one time and his ear had been pretty badly cut up during a scuffle. I understood though, dogs will be dogs and things happen. What I didn't understand is why not ONE person told me about it. When i called to ask I was told that the owner forgot to leave a note. WHAT? A dog is bleeding and you forget to leave the owner a note? Moving on. They for some reason fired the only competent person they had working there. All of a sudden there are no workers that seem to have a firm grasp on dogs and dog behavior. I take my dogs into get a bath and play. The take my dogs knowing perfectly well that they were NOT going to let my dogs play at all and don't say a word. I get on the cams and notice they are segregated and call to find out what the deal is. When I call I'm told that the owner told me they couldn't come to daycare. If he told me that shouldn't you have a note of that somewhere? And WHY would you take my dogs in the first place. My issue is not with the fact that my dogs aren't allowed to go to this daycare anymore, it's fine they can't handle it. My issue is the fact that they were going to charge me for a service they knew they weren't going to offer to me. How can you run a business like this? Money is obviously the main focus, which would explain the lack of qualified and trained empoyees and the charging for services you know you are not providing. All I wanted was for them to tell me, "hey your dog isn't going to be able to play" instead I was greeted with a "Hi Bodee! Hi Aspen! Ready to play?" Talk about a con........thank goodness for the doggy cams because who knows how long I was paying for a service I wasn't actually receiving. I'm not saying they aren't what they say they are...a place for dogs to play. I am saying that they are not a well run operation and that honesty and really looking out for the well-being of YOUR dog is not a priority. read more

Four Paws is the only place we have found we love taking our dog. It is reasonably priced, there are cameras online where you can check in on your pup, and our dog is always happy and worn out from playing when we pick her up. Dwayne is so kind and he and his fellow staff members know our dog by name and give us updates every time we pick her up. The staff there really cares about your dog and it is obvious! We have used their boarding as well and not a single issue to complain about. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great place to board or use daycare. read more

Five stars for day care and boarding and grooming! Oh my! I've been bringing my dogs here for a couple years. I started coming because it's super close to my place, but I kept coming back because the people are fabulous and the prices are great. When I leave my dogs for a few nights while I'm out of town, I know they'll be well cared for and 100% safe.
