Mike Marsh, the owner provided free estimate with no pressure to sign a contract. Mike was easy to communicate with and very responsive with excellent information. To save money, he told me to buy the toilet and garbage disposal myself. He would only charge installation fee. Jeremy, his bother was the master plumber that did the work. He arrived on time and kept me informed of his work progress and why he did what he did. He was also very cheerful and funny. The work was excellent and Jeremy made sure everything worked before closing the work order. My wife was impressed how well Jeremy cleaned up and sanitized the work area with Microban. Cost was very competitive. Definitely will be using 1st Choice in the future for plumbing problems.

This company started out as promising when they made their first house call to our home, but then,…read morelike anything else it was too good to be true. Initially, it was discovered that our home because it was an old home built with clay pipes, etc. that we needed some major replacement work at a costly rate. Understood. Meanwhile, the crawl space to access the current problem was an issue, the crew created a two way to access any future problems. Again, no issue. But working to unclog the plumbing of two bathrooms: a master bathroom and a pool bath, they had to BREAK the cement, dig the hole and install PVC tubing, that started to concern us. They had to place a wooden pallet over the hole which remained in its current state for close to three weeks. There is where the problems truly began. My husband who had just gone through several cancer surgeries was subjected, as well as I, to an endless array of phone chasing and excuses of why it was taking so long to finish the job. Hailey, who I conveyed my concern kept repeating to me, the inclement weather was the reason the crew couldn't come to finish the job. Even though the issue of the exposed hole was under roof and not outside. They cut through our beautiful decking, left the cut boards outside to rot and moved one of our motorcycles, which is extremely heavy, out in the open and never placed it back at all! During the wait, I discovered what look like mold under our coffee stand cabinet. Being courteous, I called Hailey and asked her if she could place that issue of concern on the roster, since any company's time is money. In the end, I wasn't extended the same courtesy. After finally getting an actual finalization date from her, Friday July 17th, she said the crew would show up between 9 and 10 a.m. (of course, customers always have to work around THEIR schedule). They called at 8:52 a.m. that they had already arrived. Since I worked late the night prior, my husband greeted Robert and keep in mind, they made us waiting unprofessionally for almost three weeks, expressed my concern to Hailey about the mold etc., the first thing Robert asked my husband before lifting a finger and finishing the job, was that he wanted payment upfront. My husband said no payment until everything is done first. They came, cut the boards horrendously, not even leveled with the old boards; didn't repour the cement as the owner stipulated, left the toilet cover on the seat, didn't even place it back in its proper place. They never put the motorcycle back either, when it takes at least two to three people to literally move it, yes, it is that heavy. As my husband was recuperating from surgery, I have a back disc problem and besides, that was THEIR job to do, not ours. When my husband mentioned to Robert, "what about the mold under the cabinet, don't you have equipment to detect if it is mold?" The unprofessional answered, "EH, we don't have that equipment with us." When my husband asked about the motorcycle, after they left, the same unprofessional said, " there's no issue there, it has a covering." An expensive motorcycle and that was his response, not his problem, not his money. When I awoke and called Hailey and asked her politely why I bothered to communicate with her if the job wasn't going to be done right, she offered NOTHING. No apologies, no accountability, apparently I was talking to myself when I was chasing them to finish the job. She managed to utter "A...aaa....I'm going to have to talk to my supervisor and get back to you." Deceptively having him on the line the whole time. When he did call me back, I identified myself and all he said was "You are disgusting the way I've heard you talk to people, no wonder no one wants to do business with you! I'm cashing your check and we're terminating our services with you." And he cowardly hung up! After weeks of chasing them and leaving a job worse than when they came in, they managed to destroy our decking, offer bullshit excuses, mentally exhaust my husband and me, left the motorcycle out in the yard and just left the cut pieces outside like our home was garbage. The length and detail of this review should give potential clients who are considering their services, a second thought about dealing with a company that in the end was nothing but complete insensitivity and unprofessionalism at its core. Having a maladroit secretary and a supposedly Godley man for an owner who did nothing but disrespect and defile our home. I am also writing this review as documentation of damages this company caused our home on this 17th day of July 2026. Without a doubt, the most unprofessional experience we've ever had since living out here in the country. And if there was a place here to show photos, I'd post them so anyone can see the magnitude of the horrendous job or lack thereof, this atrocious company is capable of unraveling. No one cares until it's your money. The problem was, Janicek's Plumbing never cared.
