Cute little coffee spot on Atlantic avenue. I want to make a disclaimer about my review though ...I'm hesitating to say the service was super nice because you may read my other reviews and say "this girl allllways says that about places and never wants to be really critical." Fair enough, but everyone here was really nice and friendly! I rarely am asked if I'd like my coffee and food for there or to go, with a genuine feeling they wanted me to say for here and to stay. I did then end up staying and sitting at a little window side table and my only regret was not bringing my charger because voila! There was an outlet right at my feet. They make those beautiful little designs with hearts on your drink. I tried both a mocha (I loved best-not really sweet but I didn't feel it needed additional sugar) and a latte (also good). Wish I had tried a donut but the brown butter cookie I had was perfect accomplishment for a latte or cappuccino, and the cheddar scone was nice and cheesy. Absolute Coffee is the cutest coffee shop!!! It offers the usual fare of baked goods (muffins, donuts, scones, bagels) and a variety of drinks. There's a fair amount of group and individual seating, and best of all, lots of natural sunlight!! We arrived around 12:30 PM on a Saturday and there was still a good amount of seating (though all the individual ones had been taken up). I had their cheddar and scallion scone (~$3.00) as a quite bite for breakfast and it was so yummy. I wish I could've gotten it warmed up! It was a delicious scone packed with serious flavor. It had a spicy kick to it which I found surprising and unique. Their cold brew was delicious and refreshing. I loved its full-bodied flavor and it tasted great without any additions like milk or sugar. :- ) The service is pretty quick and efficient, and the staff members are so friendly! The quality of the coffee is solid and on par with most other local shops. The reason this gets three stars is the price. My usual drink is 50% more expensive here than multiple other shops. Not sure how that came to be but that's tough to justify. If not for the outlandish pricing this would be a 4/4.5 star spot. read more

Cute little coffee spot near the Hilton Brooklyn. Two nice ladies who spoke Spanish served me a latte in a non branded paper cup. The place is small and cozy. Came on a Sunday morning and the outdoor space was full. I ordered an iced americano and my husband got an oat chai latte. My iced americano was delicious but they added a little too much milk. He enjoyed his Chai! Also got a sesame bagel with scallion cream cheese which was delicious. The bagel was fresh and not overly toasted - there was just the right amount of cream cheese. Came here to do some work and very pleased with my choice of cafe. My americano was strong and delicious. My blueberry muffin was sweet and scrumptious. This simple but stellar space is one of the closest coffee shops to my apartment, and as such I find myself in here from time to time. Although I am a freak of New York nature that doesn't drink coffee, I can report that the pastries are tasty, the teas are on point (although expensive, especially since we tea drinkers are second-class citizens), and it's an ideal place to host meetings with people who drink coffee. Which is everyone but me, as they all like to rudely inform me over and over, in between sips of what is apparently the best cappuccino you can get around here. In case you were wondering, the wi-fi works quite well. And although it's kind of a pain not to be able to sit and enjoy a pastry when all the seats are taken by laptoppers, I understand because I've been a laptopper in my day. That's the last time I'm tipping on my card before I've received my order. The whole point of tipping is that it's supposed to be the customer's appreciation for good service. So how did we end up in a system where you tip when you pay, before you have your order? From now on I'll give cash on my way out... Long story short, I ordered A, they charged me for B, then gave me C. They had a conversation between themselves, checking the order before making it, but I didn't intervene because my Spanish isn't good enough that I was certain I was understanding them and didn't want to nag. Now I know, better to butt in and clarify if there's any appearance of misunderstanding! On the other hand, they refunded me, and did the transaction again for the correct order and then actually made the correct order, and it was good. So in the end, everyone was happy. I ordered the mach-u peach-u white tea and zucchini bread, and am very delighted with both of the items! The tea is sweet and fragrant, and the zucchini bread is moist and pairs well with the tea. There are a good amount of outlets along the walls. The seating is a little tight and the individual tables are quite small (small round tables that you'd only be able to fit your laptop on) but there's a bigger "communal" table, a high table, and seating along the window if you need more room. read more

She didn't greet me when I came in and when I asked about the Wi-Fi she gave me an attitude as if I was bothering her. As good as the coffee appears, the service stinks. My favorite coffee place in Brooklyn!! I still don't know how I came across this place, as it was a little out of the way from where I lived. But, I am just so happy every time I come back here. My two favorite espresso places in New York (if you haven't read practically half of my coffee reviews yet so far) are Third Rail and Hutch and Waldo. And again, this place is also similar to those two! I love the intimate and homey setting of Absolute, and it's in the cute neighborhood of Cobble Hill/Downtown Brooklyn. Service is very friendly, and they even sell their own beans to customers. I always get the iced drinks or cappuccino, and again, always satisfied with the nutty and slightly cacao taste of the espresso! And to those donuts fans, they sell Dough donuts here!! It's not a huge space, but they have a decent amount of high tables and smaller tables for some work and side conversation with a friend/date. read more

We were here at about 6pm and there weren't many choices for desserts left. We got a latte, a matcha and a toasted coconut donut. All the big tables and chairs were all taken by people with laptops, the rests were very tiny but it wasn't a big deal as I didn't intend to stay for long. The coffee was very nice, I'm not a coffee expert so I couldn't tell much about it. The donut was huge!!! It tasted like a cake and could feed more than 2 people. Downtown Brooklyn used to be a scary place. When I was a kid, that was where I went to buy toys from Albee Square Mall and Baby World while trying not to get mugged in the process. Nowadays gentrification is in full effect and while it may seem like a joke, gentrification does indeed bring coffee shops. One of these is Absolute Coffee, which shares a strip with some nice stores selling everything from antiques to plants to chocolate. Absolute is nestled inside an older building (I would guess at least 50-60 years old if not more) and it takes advantage of it. The interior looks like an old time bar or restaurant with lots of wood, dim lighting and a very welcoming feel. On the walls are pieces of art that I believe you can buy if you are a collector. I was one of those annoying customers that actually wandered in five minutes before closing. The staff warned me they were closing but they were super nice about it and offered to make me what they could given they were shutting everything down. I had an iced coffee that was absolutely delicious (just black on ice). Surprisingly, I wasn't alone in being a "last minute" customer. Before I left three other people came in and each one of them were taken care of. Kudos to the staff. I'm looking forward to going long before closing and sitting down to enjoy my drink and soak in the vibe of this place. I hope I get to do that soon! read more

Um, are ALL of the coffee shops and cafes in NYC going to start offering donuts from Dough? Because this is becoming just a bit too tempting. I'm partly kidding...but yeah, not so good for the waistline. However, if you crave these delicious doughnuts (made by Dough, the doughnut shop on Franklin Avenue), they do sell them here and they cost $3.50 each. The staff seems nice and friendly and the place is cute inside. It's small, just a few tables, but I like the atmosphere and the decor and as others have mentioned, there is a decent amount of sunlight. The people who work there seem nice, and they have a public bathroom....yay A few coffee shops/coffee bars in this area have come and gone in recent years, hoping that this one is here to stay! read more

Low on groceries and feeling lethargic we decided to take a walk and try out a new coffee place. I got an iced latte with almond milk (they don't have soy which seems to be a thing right now) and a chive and scallion scone and Mr. Dude got a cold brew and a chocolate croissant. Everything was pretty solid, not great but not terrible. (Biggest complaint was the croissant was pretty doughy and not at all fluffy-what's up with charging 3.50 for totally uninspired croissants in this neighborhood?) Sometimes life can be mundane. Everyday tasks like reading a newspaper or checking the news on your iPad become habit pretty quickly and become part of your daily grind. Usually these things fall on us as lackluster reflexes. Drinking coffee is one of those things for me, but alas this is not a mundane or lackluster daily task, not thanks to Absolute Coffee. I am a creature of habit and I fall prey to the temptation of a iced cold brew coffee once or twice a day. The staff is attentive and present and are always waiting with a smile and my coffee quickly and exactly how I like it. Black. I guess I come here too often. I'm just glad I've broken free of the siren spell that apple turnover puts on me. TL;dr the coffee is great. The location is well staffed and the ambiance is perfect.
