Updated; it's been a while. -1 star - the men's room was filthy. I always worry that if the men's is dirty then what's in the kitchen. Food was a solid 4 stars, service was a five. Handicap/wheelchair access was perfect, plenty of room. Cost is reasonable for the level but not cheapest. It was way too much food for me to eat. This was a nice place to eat. Went here with a party of 6 on a Monday evening and waited about 20 minutes. We were seated a spacious table near the back where three baskets and chips and three trays of three different salsas were waiting for us. The tortilla ships were light and seasoned. The salsas were all good but the salsa verde and brown salsa were my favorites. Our food came out quickly. I had the fajita tacos with steak which was pretty good. Came through to pass some time before our JC Penny photoshoot and saw some appealing drinks and food items at Abuelo's from other Yelpers! We sat ourselves at the bar and the bartender was attentive, friendly, and quick. The drinks they offered were aplenty but went with the tried and true mojito. We were impressed by the glass shakers, so much we bought one online after the bartender shared where they got them! The interior is cozy and they have a variety of seating. I really like Abuelos! It's great to be able to indulge in a tasty Mexican Food creation. I think Abuelos takes it to a new level! I especially like the Pescado Guerrero with Chilean Sea Bass! Just had a first date here. The Food was delicious and the staff were even more amazing. My date and I were yapping non stop even up until 5 minutes till close and not a single one staff member rushed us, they were very pleasant. Frequently checked on the quality of the food and gave us time to get to know each other. The ambiance was excellent and the bar wasn't crowded. I had a great experience at Abuelo's tonight and would definitely be recommending it to others, truly one of the best restaurants in SC for a date. We ordered chicken nachos and the bacon wrapped shrimp. My husband really liked the nachos. All the ingredients were very fresh. I was a little taken aback by the bacon wrapped shrimp as there were only three shrimp that came with the order. The free salsa was pretty neat because it came with three different variations of salsa and heat. Very beautiful restaurant. It reminds me of a hotel in Vegas. From the very beginning, this was a great dining experience! Service was exemplary, Bianca took extremely good care of us. The chips and salsa were good but our meals were soooo good. We came here on a recommendation from a friend and were open to see how everything would go. We arrived in time for the lunch menu and I had the chili rellano and spinach enchilada while my wife had the tortilla soup. Presentation was great but the flavors were better! We shared each other's food and enjoyed every bite. I would absolutely order the same meal again but next time I will probably have one of the steak or fish plates on the recommendation of our server. This is a very nice Mexican resteraunt, loved the decor and ambiance. Has a lot of tasty options on the menu. I am trying to go more pescatarian so I ordered the fish dish with the cheesy sauce. This dish was very tasty and didn't disappoint with all the flavor ! Was delivered to me piping hot! I didn't have to season anything but my veggies. The fish was really tender and meaty. The sauce I chose has cheese, mushrooms, red peppers, and spinach and it was a great fit with the fish. The rice was airy and light and also paired well with the fish. The portion size was great as well for the price. Our server was nice. She was pretty attentive. My sangria was good, but nothing spectacular or different from any other I have had. The food tasted so much better than I remember from my previous visit. Very tasty!! The chips were thin and fresh. The salsas to dip them in were great. I had the shredded beef chili relleno, chicken enchilada, papas con chili, and rice. The beef in the chili relleno was tender, the breading on the relleno was very crispy and extremely delicious! The chicken enchilada was very flavorful as well. The papas con chili is their spin on mashed potatoes and were nicely done. I tried this place last summer for the first time, after several of my family members begged to go back (they went without me the first time the year before ). I tried the sea bass and it was probably one of the best fish dishes I've ever had. It was seriously that good! Great location, interesting cocktail choices, good food. We were at the mall and had dinner here. Lots of group of 6-8 people were seated as well as larger families when we walked in, but we had no trouble getting a table quickly for two of us. Menu selection had some Mexican standbys (fajitas, quesadillas, burritos) but also a section of gluten-sensitive options and lighter fare. Our server was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Blackberry mojito was the best thing I had, honestly. The cocktail came in a shaker and was poured tableside into a Collins glass of ice, with enough to refill it. It was slightly sweet, extremely refreshing and flavorful. Tortilla chips and salsa were brought to us right after we were seated and the salsa was chunky with a bit of a chipotle kick. We opted for a trio of dips that came with chicharrones, a dip sampler that was pretty good. The guacamole soup cup in it was half full of lettuce, but they were very generous with the chili con queso and the queso diablo dip. It was very hard to save any room for entrees! Fajitas chimichanga with steak - nice crunch on the tortilla, super cheesy, just not much meat. If you're looking for a steak option, I'd go with fajitas or a more meaty dish. Enchilada platter - cheese/chicken/avacado was pretty meh. There was not a lot of flavor to it, and the avacado mash was really a guacamole spread in a corn tortilla. We would definitely order different entrees on a return trip, and likely sit at the bar closer to the cocktail shaking. Ladies restroom was heavily used, but for the late dinner hour we were there, no complaints. It was sanitary, just not very clean and needed a good mop and wipe down. We ordered a drink that kina didn't have much tequila in it and he took it right away to make it right. And it came back, so strong and yummy. The food, we got chicken and shrimp fajitas and enchiladas with beans with their three sauces and oh yeah, it his the spot. This review is only from the perspective of ordering an online take out order. Ordering online was very easy and menu was user friendly. They had a nice menu for gluten and vegetarian. So you would know what you could safely eat. Being gluten free and vegan, there was not a ton of choices but I opted for the veggie fajitas minus the sour cream. My husband went over to pick it up and it was done before they said it would be. Good thing he left right away. They were quick! The food was tasty and still hot when he got it back to the hotel.
