Searching for a place to eat with good ratings on our way to the beach, look no further! The parking lot was full and the wait looked long, but the hostess promised we'd be seated in 15-20 minutes. We took advantage of the clean restrooms, perused the menu, and were seated in a comfortable booth within 12 minutes. The Cancun Shrimp Salad was huge and delicious with a balance of ingredients (cause I hear it when I can't find avocado if it's promised, lol). The shrimp was also cooked perfectly. Went here for the 1st time on Saturday November 1st 2025 with my parents for a much needed dinner. We walked in and was greeted by a host who sat us down right away. This restaurant is decorated in a Mexican building style with pillars and nice stonework inside. The Host took us to a booth. Booth was comfortable. Server greeted us right away with chips and salsa, and got us started with 3 waters. We also ordered some drinks like the Blue Hawaiian 2X, and a bahama mama! They have an interesting menu ranging from different options from a fajita, vegan items, chicken dishes, salads and more! I ordered the Steak Fajita M, and my mom ordered the vegan enchiladas. Can't remember what my dad ordered unfortunately. Oh and this place doesn't charge one for a refill of chips and salsa. Waitress also did a good job of refilling our waters too. Food came out in a timely manner! I enjoyed my Steak Fajita! My mom also enjoyed her food too. For some reason my dad wasn't a big fan of his- but ate it. also the rice seemed to taste a bit starchy, but eatable. This is a one of the worst experiences ever. Food seemed to be microwaved , because the plates were hot and that's a good indication . We stopped at El Cerro Grande Mexican restaurant on the way to North Myrtle Beach while looking for something other than drive-through/fast food. This location was convenient as it was on the way to our destination about 30 minutes away from Kings Highway and the main beach area. When we arrived around 8:30 pm it was really busy with people waiting outside. We thought it would be a long wait but when we came in, we're told 15 to 20 minutes realistically we only waited about 10 to 12 minutes for our table. The restaurant is big with Spanish influenced Ambience. We sat in a large booth because we had a party of five and it was very comfortable and the table was not overcrowded. Our server was prompt and took our order. We were shocked that our food came out within 10 minutes. I had the steak fries, which was very delicious and had a robust amount of grilled steak over the fries with cheese and pico de gallo and pickled jalapeños. It was a meal in itself and probably shareable. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone coming to the Myrtle Beach area looking for something outside of the main beach zone.. read more

Like my mom told me their food at El Cerro is just okay. It is not authentic by any means, and it lacks a lot. It left me wanting a lot more than we got. We shared the chicken and beef fajitas for two. One positive is that it came with a lot of meat, peppers, and onions. We had tona of leftovers that could've easily made two more meals. Also, the beans were super hearty and had a nice thick topping of cheese. The chips and salsa were good, with the salsa on the thicker side, which I like. The negative was just the flavor, not a lot of spice or umph to it. The meat was very dry, like it had been left ln the grill for way too long, and it was barely hanging on. I think that if the meat was less overcooked and the flavor could just step up a little bit it I think it would make a huge difference in the taste. My daughter loved the kids Mac & Cheese because it was pretty much straight out the box from Kraft and that's how she likes it. My other daughter killed the taco supreme and she's pretty picky so it just have been pretty good too. Both the queso and salsa were quality. Running those last minute errands before Thanksgiving and decide to grab some Mexican food to go. Had Enchiladas Supremo and Chicken Chimichangas. Enchiladas was excellent. Juicy chicken and tasty ground beef and a very flavorful enchilada sauce. Salad and sour cream were in a separate container. Chicken Chimichangas come in twos also very tasty. Fajitas - Very Disappointing My daughter and I dined at the Conway El Cerro on March 3rd at ~ 8 PM. I realize that my expectations of the food served at Mexican restaurants be a bit higher than most being a native of Los Angeles, but the Fajitas served to us on Sunday were a royal disappointment. They were 'not' brought to the table sizzling with the delicious smells of char-grilled steak, chicken and vegetables. Instead, the contents in the small skillet appeared to have been stir-fried and worse? Contained little-to-no seasoning - the steak and the chicken actually tasted as if it had been boiled in water. Now, I've dined at this particular El Cerro Grande two before - had a standard lunch combo of three (3) shredded chicken tacos, rice and black beans. It was good; the shredded chicken had cleared been cooked with seasonings. Perhaps the Cook was having a off-day on Sunday or, really just wanted to quickly wrap things up as closing time was approaching. Either way, there is no excuse for Fajitas tasting this way. We go to El Cerro in Conway SC Rivertown Blvd for dinner at least 3 or 4 times a month. Alot of the employees know us. My family and I were there Saturday Night July 19th and I had a bad experience. I asked for the mini taco bowl cause i have the gastric band and she gave me a hard time saying it was for kids. Then when the meal came they had me for mini chimis and i told the guy who brought the food wat i had ordered and then brought back the mini taco bowl with everything on it I only asked for beef cheese and sour cream cause i cant eat rubbage. returned that and came back with just the meat and i could tell the wattress had an attitude because i told her it wasnt right that i wanted meat cheese and sour cream like the 4th time now and finally she brought the cheese and sour cream. When we needed drinks she only asked my husband if he wanted another beverage and not even asked me or our daughter, She was cleaning the table like for us to hurry up and leave. I was never offered for my meal to be free with all these problems. This is very upsetting especially with us being a regular and local customer. Thw watress name was LIZbeth. I at least expect to hear back cause I really dont want to give a poor review especially since this is our favorite restauranti have sent them 2 messages with no response read more

Enjoyed a great, great meal here on a visit to my aunt's and uncle's home. The chips they start you off with are addictive. Fresh. Fresh. Fresh and warm with a nice side of salsa. These might have been the highlight of my meal. I started off with the patron margarita with a sugar rim. Very nice but not to heavy on the Patron which I needed more of I got the camarones al mojo. Shrimp marinated in garlic, served with rice, lettuce, pico de gallo. Soft tortillas. I had another drink, the Blue Hawaiian--Bacardi rum, Grey Goose, triple arc, pineapple juice and blue Curacao. The ambience is nice, the music is authentic but that being said the food lacks in flavor and authenticity, menu lacked in variety. I ordered a jumbo burrito and it was filled with mainly peppers and hardly any steak. The burrito was pretty bland when it came to flavor and I only really tasted the cheese sauce. I got the cheesecake for dessert and it was absolutely amazing, moist with light chocolate. I would definitely recommend. Where they do lack in flavor they make up for in service. It has a Mexican ambience and even some Mexican waitresses, waiters and I highly doubt the cooks are Mexican. I only go there because it is one of the local favorites. So I go because other people in my party want to go there. It would never be a choice of mine! The last time I went I got chicken fajitas. The fajitas had no seasoning at all and tasted like something I could have put in a pan at my house and fried for myself. Bottom line is it's just not authentic. I had asked that grilled meat Onions and bell peppers was added but not only was this not in my dish, the chicken tasted like dead tasteless meat, absolutely no flavor and that was ALL that was in the Toco shell along with some lettuce! I lived in Arizona for the last 23 years. I didn't expect Mexican food in South Carolina to be like it was in Phoenix however it was pretty good. Very good service and very sanitary. But actually the most impressive thing when I walked in the Host was sanitizing the menus. WOW GREAT JOB!!! The next time you go out, check to see if that's even happening somewhere else. USUALLY the first thing I do is go to the rest room (not because I'm at the age where you don't pass up an opportunity) the room was clean and well stocked. All joking aside I taught ServSafe a Nationally recognized Foodservice Sanitation Class for the last 20 years. That is a very important check off on my list of my evaluations. Food was a little different but very good and hot. Margaritas were excellent. Haven't gotten to the dessert menu but we will. On a vacation from Hilton Head Island decided to eat here and it was a great experience...This is probably the best Mexican restaurant I've ever been to. Being Hispanic myself it's really hard to find a restaurant that tastes good or like momma's cooking. I thought with their parking lot being completely full it'd take maybe an hour to seat us and it was maybe a 5 minute wait. Mind you every parking space was taken.. instantly got our chips and salsa, as well as our drinks. Our waiters were extremely fast and nice. The rice was amazing and so was their guacamole! Ordered our food, thought since it was packed it'd take half an hour... it took maybe 15 minutes to get all of our food. Great service, I didn't have to ask for refills, they were aware. I got the Pollo Ranchero and the very first bite of the chicken breast exploded with such amazing taste in my mouth I literally felt like melting into the seat. Rice so soft, beans were cooked perfectly as well. You can not go to any other Mexican Grill in and around the Myrtle Beach/Conway area, if you do you are going to miss out.
