Not sure if I was always one of my favorite places to go when I'm in Myrtle Beach. The food there is always great. And they always have great cocktails at the bar. The last time we went, the service was not up to par. It took us a little while to get someone to take our order, but we are OK with that because our drinks came pretty quick. The only issue I really had was that it was so hot outside that the drinks were sweating really bad on the tables. Our table was a little offset and crooked, so my water sweated itself right off the table into the floor. When one of the girls came over to help clean it up, I apologize for making a mess and helped to pick up some of the glass. She made a comment something to the effective well maybe if you hadn't had so many of those (pointing at my cocktail) this wouldn't have happened. I was a little put off for this, and it actually was my first drink. I started to say something to the manager, but decided not to because maybe she was just having a bad day and took it out on me. This was a huge disappointment. It took 15 min for a waitress to come and take our drink order (multiple waitresses walked by and looked at us but didn't come back). Finally, someone came by and asked if we had been helped & said she would take our orders. I ordered the "sloppy burrito" with seasoned steak and it was awful. The rice was mushy. The "seasoned steak" was not seasoned and it was actually just shaved steak. There was only steak shavings on the inside inner rim of the burrito and the rest of it was packed mush/rice. i also ordered a frozen strawberry margarita, which essentially tasted like shaved ice with no flavor and no alcohol. the best part of dinner was the live music. such a waste of $80. read more

I would give a 0/10 if I could. My son loves the Nacho Hippo in North Myrtle and asked to come here on his 13th birthday on 07/19 while we were staying at the state park. We asked the hostess if they sing for birthdays , she said yes just tell your server. At the end when asked about dessert we told her it was his birthday. She came out with the churro dessert, sat it down and said " Happy Birthday" my mother in law discreetly said to her - I thought yall sang for birthdays. She stated " we dont do that" after we told her we asked the girl at the front desk and she said they did. She back tracked and told my mother in law we didnt let her know soon enough - and didnt say we wanted them to sing. She would need to gather all the waiters. This entire conversation was in front of my son. I then told her we were obviously trying to be discreet . We spent $130, were more than polite the entire time and she just said " well, sorry" We were not told we had to give a certain amount of notice before the birthday dessert was ordered for them to sing - just to let her know it was his birthday, and we were not told to specifically ask to sing. This waitress was also training someone . Terrible experience, rude waitress who just did not want to do it. Would 100% not recommend. I would eat anywhere else in Market commons and would rather drive 40 mins to the North Myrtle location. read more

It was so nice to return to this place and I had forgotten how much I liked it. The flavors here surprise and delight me and I loved everything we had. We were so hungry and forgot to take pics on this visit. We got the bang bang shrimp appetizer that is served in the tortilla cups. It was one of the best things I have ever tasted honestly. I also got two tacos, one with seared tuna, and one vegetarian. They were absolutely amazing. Fresh, flavorful, delicious. I could eat here every day. In Myrtle Beach for vacation, yes, even during Hurricane Debby. And yes, it has rained buckets. But this place is situated in mixed use area called the Market Common. It has plenty of restaurants, a bowling alley, a movie theater, and shops. This is a great Mexican food establishment not too big and not too small. There are many options, including vegan options with a variety of margaritas , beer, and a small selection of wine. The service from start to finish was nice and not atmosphere. read more

At Myrtle Beach on vacay, my wife and I were in the mood for Mexican (more Tex Mex) fare and Nacho Hippo looked interesting. As our custom, we went for early dinner. The place was packed! But we only had to wait about 15 minutes. Monica brought us menus, which we had already been looking over. My wife got the Sloppy Burrito with chicken. I decided to try their special Hipponachomus Nachos, personal size. We started off with Tortilla chips and Queso dip. I also asked for hot salsa, extra cost. Turned out to be Mango Habanero and a bit sweet. Didn't think I would like it but I did! Our food came and servings were huge. My wife loved her (usual) burrito. Our chips and dips were also great. My Nachos? Shazam! A huge pile of chips with Chili, Chicken, Taco Meat, two cheeses, lettuce and Pico de Gallo. It was really great. And so much I had to take a third back to resort. Many more cars arriving as we were leaving and headed to inside and outside seating. Food was great, service excellent, ambiance a bit noisy. Combing a comfortable place with comfortable food is what I think makes Nachos a comfort food. I wouldn't say the inside is really comfort themed more of cheap focused or "industrial style". I do appreciate there flexibility with how much control they give you in the creation process of your nachos! This place really is just nachos though, and can't say I'd eat them everyday. We had 3 out of 4 of us contract food poisoning with the common denominator being Nacho Hippo. Our experience here was good - limited tvs in the dining around (the bar is surrounded by TVs though). We were placed in a dining room with our party and trying to watch a game, so unfortunate for us. Service was good here and waitress was attentive. We ordered chicken quesadilla, shrimp nachos, and veggie nachos which all caused GI problems later down the road. In the moment, our food arrived hot and fast to the table. I spoke with a manager the following day just to inform them of our incident and hope they can make the adequate changes in the kitchen to prevent future problems. The manager was very short and brief with me. Not an empathetic guy at all. I wasn't expecting a refund but at least empathize with my horrible night and apologize. We found parking nearby. We came on a weekday in mid August, the eatery was fairly quiet. Love the tie dye t-shirt collection that is for sale. The food was fairly average, but good. My quesadilla was tasty. Decor was fun and bright. We didn't try any alcoholic beverages on our visit, but they have a lot of great looking margaritas.
