    Meat combination plate

I really enjoyed this spot! Happy it exists in Santa Rosa where it seems like a struggle to find authentic food from different cultures. But at the end of the day what's most important is how the food tastes. This spot was delicious. Me and my wife shared the meat combination plate. Our friends had the vegetarian combination plate. It was flavorful the Injera (crepe like bread) was tangy and pores so it could absorb all the flavors from the stewed meats and lentils. I also had the house tea. Had a nice spice to it with a strong clove flavor I really enjoyed. We also had the sambusa appetizer was tasty and we split a slice of carrot cake. It was warm and gooey so no complaints. Great spot will definitely recommend

    Not worth $9.

We returned after a year. Service, flavor and portions improved significantly. We devoured the meat combo single plate and the veggie combo single plate. The drinks beso and telba. Highly recommend.

We enjoyed lunch here today. Abyssinia had a nice ambiance, with a friendly waitress and cook, pretty Ethiopian paintings, mellow jazz music, and unique hanging light fixtures. The food was beyond delicious! We enjoyed the appetizers (crispy sambusas), as well as spice tea and Ethiopian beer. We got a veggie plate combo and a meat place combo to share. The family platter came with extra injera. The flavors and perfectly cooked meats blew our minds! We had plenty of leftovers to pair with rice or potatoes later. And we can't wait to visit again, a long drive from Marin that is totally worth it.

The interior is simple with a casual atmosphere and the staff is friendly, attentive and helpful. We have been here a couple of times before but could not remember what dishes we liked the most so we ordered the Veggie Combo. We narrowed down our favorites to Shiro Wet, roasted chickpeas in Ethiopian spices and Yater Kik Alecha, split peas with garlic, ginger and turmeric. The injera is an interesting spongy pancake-like bread that you eat along with the entrees. Abyssinia is a good choice when looking for a different ethnic cuisine experience.

This place is by far my favorite restaurant in Santa Rosa!! I highly recommend the vegetarian combo. It's naturally vegan and so filling and tasty! The staff are also so friendly and helpful!

The second you open the door the most delicious smell greets you. We order the meat sample platter for $40 something bucks and it was gone in a blink of an eye. It was so yummy and flavorful. The meat was a little spicy- but so worth it. Definitely coming back!

Haven't been here again in person since the pandemic. Had lunch today with a friend and the food and the service was delightful. The chef/ waiter was charming and answered our questions. They have a fancy new menu and lots of choices. The tables are spaced out and it felt comfortable. The food seemed less spicy then I remembered but I will ask for dishes to be spicier next visit. Lots of choices for vegetarians.

The portions are CRAZY small. We got a platter for 2 and it literally contained 1 chicken drumstick per person. That's really unacceptable.

Most recently I've been indulging in their trumpet mushroom pozole, great flavor. Not only is their food delightful but their bar is great. A great selection of classic and experimental cocktails made by some pretty wonderful bartenders. I've just tried one of their newest additions, The Consolation of Apricots, and I must say it is such a nice balance of sweet and citrus. The apricot flavor shines, but it doesn't lack the booziness that other sweet cocktails do. It is incredibly refreshing and the perfect way to start the night! In all, the staff is wonderful, the atmosphere is lovely, and I would be kidding myself if I didn't say this is my favorite spot in Healdsburg. I also can't forget to mention the free live performances every Thursday! What a bonus! Thanks, Little Saint ;)

Fun vegan concept to visit if you are in Healdsburg…read more Don't missed the smoked carrot spread - it's super creamy, I don't know how they do it. (If you're not hungry, you can get it from the refrigerated section to-go.) The bibimbap bowl was surprisingly filling and I liked most of the elements (mushrooms were a bit too sweet for me but nice and juicy, the charred bok choy was excellent). It's one of those meals where you feel good about yourself after eating it. The rye brownie my friend was obsessed with, she loved how light it was while still delivering the satisfaction of a brownie. I thought it was not bad, especially considering it's gluten free, but not necessarily the best brownie I've had. It's not too sweet or rich/dense which is my usual gripe with brownies

Super cute, mismatched floral china, knickknacks everywhere, gorgeous flowers in the garden. We are on the terrace, which was lovely. The only drawback is that it's right on Main Street with a lot of traffic going by. The food was so good. We started with salad of the adults and crudite with homemade ranch with just a twang of spice to start. Then they brought out 3 tiered tea cake stands for each of us - a kids size, a regular, and a gluten free one. Everything was so delicious. A plate of 5 savory treats, each one more sumptuous than the next. A plate with a perfect scone with a tiny raspberry jam container, lemon curd, and clotted cream (my fav). Last tier had dessert, a chocolate cake with raspberry on top, a shortbread with white chocolate, and fruit. The shortbread cookie was the item I liked the least. They bring you a tea case so you can smell every option. We had grandma's garden, mint, and maple . All tasty. I wish we could have tried even more but they did refill each adorable teapot with more hot water. The price is quite high but it was a lovely way to celebrate. Will definitely come back again. Oh and they do takeout of treats so if you are nearby you can just come in for those.

I also was very curious about Peruvian ceviche. Mexican-style ceviche is one of my favorite things and I make it a lot, but had never had Peruvian ceviche. It seemed like the perfect lunch. The restaurant is really beautiful inside, with wood and stone and earthy colors. The place settings are all very nice handcrafted ceramics and the bar was a giant wooden fancy installation. During the day it was very quiet, but with all the hard surfaces, I imagine it was pretty boisterous at night. I told the waitperson that I was interested in ceviche and whether he had recommendations. He pointed me towards the ceviche carretillero (cart ceviche), which he said also had their house ceviche, fried calamari, fried yucca and plaintains and that it would be more substantial for a lunch. I later looked up "ceviche carretillero" and found out that in Peru, a street food was ceviche topped with crunch fried calamari and that it was very popular and served out of carts! The preparation was lovely, with a pile of their fish of the day, which was a type of cod, in the middle with shredded onions on top. surrounding it was fried calamari, sweet potato, yucca, and extremely thin and beautifully fried plaintain strips. He offered to pour the small pitcher of Sangre de tigre on top and I agreed. Sangre de tigre is the marinade used to "cook" the fish. It is different than Mexican ceviche!! While not spicy with chiles, it was spicy with ginger and I don't know what else. It hits your throat, not your palate, which I thought was so interesting. I would not say it was "hot spicy", but I did cough a bit when I swallowed! It was very good! The fish was cut into fairly big rough pieces so you could really taste it. The calamari was excellent, as were the yucca and plaintain. I used the plaintain like I would fried tortillas in a Mexican ceviche, and using it almost like a spoon. I don't know if that was proper or not, but it worked for me! The Yucca would have been perfect with some mojo sauce, but that's a Cuban thing. I wonder if their is a comparable Peruvian sauce? The portion was generous and perfect for someone who came to lunch hungry. I really enjoyed my little middle of the day splurge lunch!
