I stopped him here the other day for a Tom Kha which was delicious! I'm a vegetarian so I got it with the tofu. The portion was large more than enough for me. Since it is under new ownership I decided to get the sampler plate I think it was the Lana sampler or something, sorry I'm blanking on the name, but everything was really good the fried tofu was extra crunchy the perfect texture. The couple of items that were meat like the chicken skewers I brought home to my husband and he loved them. I also got a delicious Thai tea that got me going for the afternoon I snuck in on a lunch break from work and I'm one of those people that if I have a good lunch I just wanna fall asleep my desk but that tea kept me going. The interior is pretty, lots of fresh real plants. I sat at one of the tables upfront in the I think it's called a Bay window pretty much wall ceiling windows up front with great people watching. I've decided that is my spot from now on. I hear they're getting their liquor license soon which will definitely be a plus. Can't wait to see what they come up with as far as drinks! read more

Very surprisingly, the staff and kitchen at Khoom Lanna fumbled their stellar reputation away. The Server was distracted (small children of an employee roamed the back of the restaurant), the order was taken incorrectly, and the kitchen drop-kicked one order right out the priver ial window. Crispy Duck was ordered by my friend on my recommendation, but long after everyone had been served a plate of Salmon was delivered. Though apologetic, the staff could not get it right. Five of us finished our dinner and our friend still did not receive his order. Two other mishaps to report: our choice of wine was out of stock. I was given an opportunity to sample my second choice, only to taste a badly turned sample of wine. I ordered Drunken Noodle and they were just adequate. A 3 out of 10 for flavor. Never again!! I rarely order delivery anywhere because it's always a bit disappointing but was in a time crunch tonight. I have never eaten here before so had zero expectations. The green curry literally had an inch of oil on the top of it, was $18 for a tiny little container and didn't even come with rice. I ordered mild and this was spicy. I don't know if this was made yesterday but the eggplant was disintegrating in the curry. So gross, I couldn't even eat it. This was probably the worst Thai food I've ever had. Got food for take out and it is delicious! The green curry with tofu is the perfect balance between sweet and spicy, all while not being too heavy. It pairs perfectly with the jasmine rice. There isn't a lot of tofu, but the healthy portion of eggplant makes up for it to me. The food was delivered fresh and hot and I am a happy girl. read more

We had the worst experience one would imagine at this restaurant last night. I've always loved this place, but something has happened, whether under different owners or managers... Our party of 6 ordered. The food was brought out slowly, person by person. One person in our party had still not received his food by the time the rest of us were halfway done. When his meal was brought to him, it was not what he ordered. It was returned, and was told his correct order would be right out. Our poor hungry friend waited as we started sharing our food with him. Finally he told the server to cancel his order. Then they brought it out, and told him it was on the house...although when he got the check it wasn't. Besides the poor service, the food wasnt even as good as we've had in the past. I got the lettuce wraps, and the meat was covered in rice noodles... Very little protein. My husband said his pad Thai was dry and lacking flavor. On top of that, we ordered wine...granted I don't expect high end wine at a family place, but it had turned and tasted bad, so we returned it... It wasn't even what we ordered anyway, and they finally said they were out of our choice. Too bad. I'm going to think twice before I choose to eat here again. While visiting Santa Rosa, we wanted something on the lighter side, plus some Thai food sounded good. We stopped in here, and were greeted pretty quickly, got our table, menu, and water very quickly. We decided on the chicken satay and the Pad Thai with beef. Both of these dishes came out very quickly, and were very tasty. One of the things that was missing, was that the server never asked if we wanted any level of spice in our Thai food. This seems to be very common and most Thai food, restaurants, where I like mine on the medium, or 2 to 3 star side. The food was hot, freshly prepared, and tasted quite good. I hadn't been to Khoom Lanna in a long time. I'm not sure why. I don't remember what the previous experiences had been like. I used to go there. Then I didn't. For years. Went back recently with some friends - had a party of 6 - and ordered a lot of food! It was great. All the dishes came out quickly, and were tasty and flavorful. Went back to visit again a few weeks later, based on the previous experience - and had a very different experience. Service was slow. Almost painfully so. Tom Kha soup came out slowly - and was barely warm. Service on beverages was also slow. Next dish came out, and it was also barely warm- and seemed more like it had been reheated (a little) rather than made fresh. This is sad. If the food were consistent, I would love it. But it isn't. They are great on a good day, not so good on a "not so good day". Try your luck - maybe you will get lucky! read more

This is the best Thai in the Santa Rosa area. Always delicious! Today i had the beef drunken noodles for lunch. I asked for spicy and they were! More importantly though the flavor was amazing. Nice little neighborhood place -- not a destination restaurant but if you're in Santa Rosa, a nice stop for lunch. I've had a few lunches after antique shopping on that same block and enjoyed them. Both food and service were decent. I liked that this Thai place was downtown in a cute neighborhood versus a strip mall. Plus it's nicely decorated inside so the ambience is nice. We had Chicken Satay and Coconut Prawns as starters followed by Tom Kha with Chicken. I was very happy with the kitchen spacing the food out so we could thoroughly enjoy the dishes. The Chicken Satay was a bit dry. I did enjoy the Cucumber Salad it came with and ate that with the salad served under the Coconut Prawns. For entrees, we had the Jungle Curry with Chicken and Halibut with Fresh Pounded Herbs. The Halibut dish was delicious but I wish I had asked how the fish was prepared. It's slightly battered with wheat flour and fried so I just had a very small bite of it to try but the rest of the veggies were great. My husband really liked the dish. The Jungle Curry had good flavors from Southern Thai and no coconut milk. We wanted to try something different so we opted for this version of curry. I didn't like that the Jungle Curry was so watery. The Tom Kha had a unique flavor that was not like others we have had. The staff was very friendly and fairly attentive. After I inquired about the flour on the halibut, they said they could've prepared it differently if I had asked. That's good to know for next time. read more

I stopped by this place while looking for a dinner place close by my hotel. Most places in this square don't have good reviews so was looking to see what had the best reviews. Overall this is just an average edible place. I had the Tom kha soup and it was very milky and lacking flavor. Appears overly done with vegetables and not to my liking and not to what I'm used to eating in my favorite Thai places. The pad Thai was also just average and lacking seasoning or flavor and not a big hit with me. Maybe my standards are high from my favorite places, but if in the area, there's certainly other options. Such a cute spot! The thai restaurant is super authentic - serving some additional special Thai items not on the menu. I got the Thai Khao Man which was super good! It was served with a spicy dipping sauce and bone broth. The people were also very attentive and kind! They also had boat noodle available which I'll have to try next time. Absolutely the best Thai food in Santa Rosa. They were so accommodating to my gluten allergy. Our waitress provided incredible service. I appreciate the selection of fresh loose leaf teas which are steeped properly and served in a tea mug. They offer a delicious papaya salad! I also enjoyed the pad Thai and drunken noodles. Had lunch here on a saturday afternoon and really lucked out because there were only a handful of people in the restaurant -this place is usually packed in the evenings so i was happy to see that we would be seated right away. The service was extreamly slow, but I was in no hurry and REALLY wanted to try this place. Khoom Lanna is different from so many restaurants in Santa Rosa. For starters, they're not arrogant and self-important. The prices are super reasonable, there's no silly "living wage" fee. And the folks who work here are very nice people. On top of all this, the food is prepared expertly, but kind of with a homestyle vibe, i.e. not overly salty, greasy, etc. Ingredients are fresh. This place is very underappreciated judging from the crowd in the eating places nearby. Perhaps this is the result of a relatively uninviting greeting and limited spoken English. Do not be deterred! The corn cutlets were delish, with fresh corn me thinks. Very good regardless of provenance, served right out of the fryer with pickled cuke and onion. The Tom Yum soup was a hot & sour lemongrass broth with mushrooms, kaffir lime leaves, carrot, tomato & onion. Tasty but not cooked enough to meld the interesting flavors that remained too distinctive. The problem with fried calamari elsewhere is that getting a satisfying crisp exterior generally means rubbery squid. This chef seems to have addressed this by using a panko-like batter that crunches before the mollusk turns to the texture of shoe leather. Very good tho not as plentiful as expected. Pro hint: Ask for extra of the aloi-like sauce. read more

So glad to have found Khoom Lanna! Delicious Thai food with great customer service! Entering, we were immediately greeted by a very pleasant and warm interior. Their card reader was unfortunately down (temporarily) and we had no cash but they were flexible enough to let us order our food through an online ordering service and sit at a nice corner table. We ordered summer rolls, mango salad (mild), and Drunken noodles along with a Thai iced tea. The summer rolls were fresh and crispy with a nicely balanced peanut dressing. The mango salad was tangy, slightly sweet and spicy - delicious (and nostalgic for B). Pad see ew was exactly what I wanted! Looking on Yelp, our choice was simple with Khoom Lanna being one of the top rated Thai restaurants in downtown Santa Rosa. The four of us walked in about 7PM and were quickly seated. After perusing the menu we decided with a starter of chicken satay 5/5, delicious with the cucumber salad, for entree's we shared the tom Yum soup with shrimp and asked for very spicy, 5/5 heat did not disappoint, Drunken noodles with Tofu 5/5 and the cashew nut chicken 4/5. After all that heat, we needed something sweet so we order the mango sticky rice 5/5, came out with chilled mango slices with warm rice mmm mmm mmm. Attentive, fast service, the decor transported you to Thailand and good food, what else could you need? Will definitely be back to try some of the other menu options which sounded great. read more

Khoom Lanna is our new favorite Thai restaurant. My wife is vegetarian and allergic to seafood. Most Thai restaurants we've tried made very bland dishes with those parameters. However, the food we tried were so wonderfully flavorful. We had the Tom Yom Soup, Green Curry and Drunken Noodles. The soup has a nice lemongrass taste and she ordered it with vegetables only. We like our food spicy and the food had the right amount of heat. The server was very knowledgeable and provided great customer service. We came back here just before New Years Eve, to enjoy their delicious Mango Sticky Rice dessert, AGAIN! And it was as good as we remembered it to be! Lip smacking and fantastic!! This time we also tried their Choco Lava Cake which was so decadent and oh so moist! It had the perfect amount of ooey gooey chocolate lava oozing out.. Yummmm.. We also decided to try their house made coconut ice cream which was delicious to the say the least! Just the right amount of toasted sweetness, coconut flavor and creaminess. It was phenomenal! This place was close to our hotel, and I'm so glad we gave it a try! We chose delivery, because we were tired, and it arrived fast and hot. It was some of the best yellow curry I have ever had, and the papaya salad was delicious. It's a good thing we chose for the salad to be "mild," because even though I'm not a spice baby, it was surprisingly spicy! I shudder to think what "medium" would be like, let alone "hot"! My kids liked the satay skewers, and while the peanut sauce was very good, I didn't care for the texture of the meat, myself.
