Went to Sebastopol, adorable sort of quaint but boutique style downtown vibe. You get a little bit of Berkeley, a little bit of Humboldt and a little bit of Santa Cruz all mixed into one. Decided on this place as it had good reviews, I thought the PHO was very good, the spring rolls were kind of typical but there was only two things that my husband and I left questioning. The first thing which has nothing to do with the food quality or atmosphere, was the gentleman that was helping us . He was very stoic and spending more time chatting with his coworkers than paying attention to us. We had to gently grab his attention numerous times for almost everything we needed. But the biggest drawback? The price. It was the most expensive Vietnamese place I think I've been to? Admittedly I got the filet mignon pho which was somewhat unique to me, the meat was very tender, it was very good but I think I paid about $24 for a medium bowl of soup. My husband said that his chicken PHO was nothing special. Spring rolls, again, good but basic, would I go back? Probably not. But, I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for filet mignon as an option for my soup in the future. read more

This place is tucked in the back of a little shopping center. The restaurant was empty when we first got there. Some people came is we were leaving it was comfortable and the staff were friendly. Omg THE best vegan Pho - ever!!! I was visiting the area with my friends, and we stumbled on this gem. Not only was the service and ambiance wonderful, but what sold me 1000% was that they made their broths homemade with no msg, which I cannot have. The space is very nice, no complaints. My pho and her vermicelli bowl were solid with great flavor; though, our largest challenge with this restaurant is the price. $54 (including tip) for our two dishes with literally nothing else ordered is rough, even for the area. After getting off work a little early, I was looking for a place that was open. I came across this adorable Vietnamese restaurant. I came in and was immediately greeted by the kindest server who was friendly and engaging. I wasn't entirely sure what I wanted to eat. Ben, the super kind waiter patiently went through my options that I was weighing out and kindly suggested the House Special and I decided to go for it. I only wanted a "snack" late night so I got the small pho which was perfect for me, but if it's your dinner spot I'd suggest sizing up. 5 stars solely based that this is probably one of the few (if any) Viet restaurants in the nearby area. While the price was high, the taste was just right. I like the broth which was beefy & savory and the noodles coated the flavor so well. The beef was pretty tough compared to other places but hey, nothing a mixture of sriracha & hoisin with lime can't help. The service though was immaculate, so friendly & kind. I had asked for extra bean sprouts and the dude said no prob. I also mentioned my partner wasn't hungry and it'd just be me, and it was no problem. I also overheard them speaking Vietnamese (as I am myself) so I know this place is legit. Beautiful interior too! I want to love this place but the food is bland and mediocre. The pho broth is watery, the noodles are mushy, and the portion of meat is absolutely tiny. The peanut sauce served with the spring rolls is diluted and tasteless. I come here every year or two hoping that it has improved, but no. $36 for spring rolls and small pho, tax and tip. I see you Viet House! Sebastopol is lucky to have this taste of Saigon nestled inside the artsy turns and quirky spots. We accidentally stopped at a market we thought would be an open farmers market galley but were quickly inundated with patchouli and fake meats. I practically ran out and we relocated to find some comfort, at Viet house. Very nice menu, both food and bar. We tried an array of dishes, all very good and picked from some fun beers too. The manager offered a couple samples to us as well. Wish the siracha shortage would end. Thry only provided packaged siracha but I understand lol. read more

Simply standard Vietnamese menu. I ordered the veggie dumpling soup. It came with a side of bean sprouts and jalapeños. Broth was unreal. I mean really flavorful and delicious. I wanted to like this restaurant, so I tried it twice; the second time with my teen daughter. The ambience is nice enough, and the host friendly, but I just don't like the food. We ordered spring rolls to start, which honestly tasted like nothing. Texture from veggies and meat, but no flavor. Dipping sauce was very sweet. We were then given a ziploc bag full of herbs and bean sprouts for our pho that we ordered. I've never seen it served that way, and honestly it wasn't very appetizing. Finally, we got our bowls of pho ga. The broth was extremely salty, and I am one who likes salt. It was hard to sip without needing some water. Unfortunately, the pieces of chicken, while generous, were also overcooked and rubbery, basically inedible. Usually I have no problem polishing off a full bowl of pho including the broth, but this time I just couldn't finish the broth or the chicken. We won't be trying this place a third time. read more

The food was so good I forgot to take pictures ‍ today 7 of us went for lunch to my moms birthday. I made a reservation yesterday letting them know 4 of us would be there at 1 and the remainder of us would be a little later because it was a surprise. (I was a host for years and some restaurants won't seat you until your entire party has arrived). They said it would be no problem which I appreciated. When they brought our waters our server wished my mom happy birthday which was so sweet. The food came out in a timely manner and was incredible. I haven't had really good Vietnamese food in Sonoma County in many years. Between the 7 of us there was filet mignon pho, basil peanut stir fry (one with pork and one with shrimp), chicken and vegetable stir fry with rice, vermicelli bowl with bbq chicken, beef onion wrap and egg rolls, spring rolls with avocado, a house salad and Thai iced tea. All of us were very impressed. Two of us enjoyed it so much that they went back for dinner tonight! Everything was phenomenal. I especially enjoyed the egg rolls. They were so crispy and flavorful. I couldn't resist the Fried Tofu and Brown Rice. The big bowl of Pho across the table looked amazing too. The menu had some nice surprises -- Thai Iced Tea and a selection of Sake. I loved it. The decor was simple and bright. Folks were really friendly. And sitting by the door I couldn't help but think a whole lot of "regulars" were coming in that night. Max had Shaking Beef on fried noodles (as opposed to his usual rice); I had basil peanut chow fun with pork; we shared excellent light crunchy spring rolls with prawns. I've eaten at Viet House a few times now and I'm always very impressed with the food! Most recently I found myself craving some spring rolls and a vermicelli bowl on a triple digit heat day. This combo of cold vermicelli, lettuce, and pickled carrots, with warm marinated pork/chicken is just perfect for a summer evening during a heat wave. These bowls include fish sauce on the side, but their pork and chicken are so well marinated that we didn't even use it. I personally love fish sauce, so next time I plan to order a shrimp bowl so I can coat it in tons of that sweet fishy goodness! As you can tell, I can't wait to return! read more

My 12 year old granddaughter loves this place. I'm learning to love it here too. I wasn't initially wowed by the food. But as time has passed I really like their style. I love the look and feel of the restaurant too. Small but not too small. Decor is modern upscale imo. The staff are very kind, easy energy so very pleasant experience. I usually get the vermicelli noodle bowl. Today ordered a rice plate. Really happy with my choice. I added a small cup of broth to warm my bones. Ahh. Just right. The hot tea is super delicious, really hot and I loved the tea cup. Perfect soothing and warming experience on a chilly Sonoma County Saturday. I say give this place a try.
