It's never a good sign when you visit your dentist for the last decade (Dr Matthews) but instead are unexpectedly greeted by a complete stranger (Dr Jeziorski). I was immediately informed that, "we sent letters out to everyone about the change." Not only did I not receive one but neither did any of my four adult children and they've been going to Acacia Dental much longer than I have. Not a good look but still definitely better than being startled by a random guy shouting surprise had I got one. I suspect this was a calculated move since after one visit I can't imagine anyone wanting to return unless it's solely to retrieve valuable dental records for the replacement dentist. I understand the reasoning though, If you can squeak one more appointment out of the existing customer base before they become disillusioned why not. I had slowly but surely resolved the majority of my existing dental issues and felt that after a couple of more visits I'd finally have my treatment plan completed. Luckily, Dr J took it upon himself to begin a new comprehensive exam of all of my teeth without solicitation or cost. The next thing I knew, my updated treatment plan was almost 25% of my annual fixed income. There were a couple of times I swore I saw dollar signs in his eyes not unlike that of Scrooge McDuck while he gleefully performed the exam. I thought it rather disconcerting that Dr. Matthews with his nearly 40 years experience could somehow have overlooked my multitude of problems. Perhaps the more disturbing part of the whole debacle was when Dr J essentially said that the cause for my problems was the result of Dr Matthews' negligence. I believe his words were, "him not taking a more aggressive approach". What? I'd come to regard Dr Matthews as someone highly skilled and universally respected if not revered by his patients. In this circumstance, it would have been better to blame the patient for the problems rather than suggest to him his previous dentist didn't know what he was doing. Unless maybe a confused Dr Matthews had been working on the wrong teeth for months if not years, then everything made perfect sense. What a stroke of good fortune. Apparently, when my previous treatment plan went away so did the prior pricing that accompanied it as well. I couldn't help but notice a filling quoted at $80 had inexplicably increased to $120. I should be thankful it was something routine rather than something more involved that may have gone from $800 to $1200. Paying fifty percent more for work performed by someone with less than half the experience makes no sense at any level. I could do no worse than calling a random dentist on Google. One of my daughters recounted her final experience with Dr Jeziorski. It would seem that the condition of her teeth were impeccable and there wasn't going to be a big payday in her mouth. Instead, he opted for a different and more creative approach. He commented that while her teeth were fine they were unusually small. Her gums, on the other hand, while healthy were too large. He thought she should give serious consideration into gum contouring if not immediately then at least in the future. I looked into this cosmetic procedure which incidentally isn't covered by insurance, and noted it can cost from $50 to $350 per tooth. It's typically performed for those who don't like their smile. One can only conclude Dr J believes she has an ugly smile but he could fix it and make her beautiful. Again, its probably a better idea to wait awhile before buying that boat you've been admiring than insult your patients. Oh, and thanks for making her cry too. One of the things about Dr Matthews that I always admired was how he was always a reticent to extract any permanent teeth unless it was as a last resort. Dr J on the other hand left me with the impression that for the right price, he'd be on board just about anything. Werewolf fang implants? Sure. Pull and grind to produce the distinct Lord of the Rings' Gollum look? Why not. Unfortunately, I'm not making any of this up, you couldn't. It's just a shame the practice Dr Matthews built and fostered for years and years instantly burst into flames and left Acacia Dental in ashen ruins. You've been warned folks. read more

Dr. Michael Crawford and the wonderful dental assistant were so nice and calmed the whole experience. I was in and out and cannot recommend this place enough. I have been going to see Dr. Matthews at Acacia Dental for 15+ years. I was disappointed and surprised to hear he retired and that I never received communication about this transition. You would think the new doctor would inform their patients about this. The only way I found out, was when my adult son went for a cleaning last July. The hygienist cleaned his teeth and told him the dentist was out of the office but would look at his x-rays and contact him with a treatment plan to fill his cavities. What??? How on earth can a dentist offer a treatment plan without looking at the teeth? This didn't sound like something Dr. Matthews would do, so I called the office to learn that the practice had been sold to Dr. Jeziroski. A week later, we receive the treatment plan for $1000+. My son quickly went for a second opinion, and the cost with the new doctor was only $200. It was apparent that the Acacia Dental I knew was gone and Dr. Jeziorski has to pay off his new practice and equipment. He does not truly care about his patients if he is willing to rip off a 20-year-old kid. Forward to this past week...I had a cleaning scheduled since last May and figured it couldn't hurt to see Dr. Jeziorski because it was only a cleaning, and my teeth are in relatively good shape. I was first put off when the front office staff asked me to complete a dental history on their website. Apparently, they claim to still have my dental history from Acacia Dental, but it hasn't been transferred over to their new system. Reading between the lines, the practice is too lazy to transfer everything to the new system, so they are asking the patients to do it for them. Next, I go back to the hygienist for the cleaning. She was very nice and seemed to be thorough, although she took triple the number of x-rays that Dr. Matthew's hygienists have in the past. Of course, this is at an extra cost to my insurance and to me. Since I didn't have any cavities or other work where they could get more money out of me, the hygienist said I should get a fluoride treatment, which isn't covered by insurance. It would only cost $25, but I'm sure it was another money grab as this has never been suggested to me in the past. When Dr. Jeziorski came in for his evaluation, he did less than 1/2 of the exam that Dr. Matthews completed. He barely touched my teeth and did not complete the soft tissue exam that I have been accustomed to for the past 25+ years. Maybe if my teeth were in worse shape, he would have given me a more thorough exam. Obviously, no one in my family will return to the new Acacia Dental, except to get our past records to provide to a new dentist. read more

This happened over a year ago now but I feel the need to share this so others don't have this happen to them. I had gone here for years before the original dentist retired and was bought out by a new dentist. My first cleaning that I went in for I found out only after coming in that the dentist wouldn't be in that day. Wish I had known that beforehand but went through with the cleaning anyways. After the cleaning, the dental hygeniest says it looks like I have two cavities based just on having a dark spot and scheduled me to get them filled (without ever actually having been examined by the dentist). I never ended up making it to the appointment as I was skeptical and moving states. Since moving, I have been to two separate dentist offices (where I actually saw the dentist) and during both examinations the dentists initially thought I might have cavities there but after x-rays and close examination they were both separately determined to just be discolored spots. Acacia wanted to fill cavities that were not there because the dentist never examined me and the hygienist was just assuming. This is still upsetting and I would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

I've had horrible experiences in the past with dentists offices. But this one was by far the best I've ever been too. The staff are all amazing, all the dental assistant's were amazing, Dr. Jeriorski was amazing. I can't say it enough. I am a new patient with them and I will continue to go to them for dental work. read more

I can not say enough good thing about Dr. mathews and his staff. First on his professional skills, experience and knowledge, all are the first class, in my opinion. But most importantly, his attitude toward patient. I have a case that is traditionally treat one way, by text book, but it is lengthily, painful and costly. After discuss with doc, he provided the solution only like I am his family member. The solution is easy and cost much less. While I was in the treatment, the temporary partial fell off. He came back on the holiday from his trip to take care the emergency (it is emergency to me). I say thank you to Dr. Mathews and will recommend Dr. Mathews to everyone. read more

I had a tooth that cracked while eating a candy bar of all things. I thought I was going to have to have my tooth removed which would have been terrible since it was towards the front of my mouth. I went to my regular dentist who told me I would need a root canal and a crown which was going to cost close to $1100 that I didn't have. A friend recommended that I go see Dr. Matthews at Acacia which was some of the best advice I could have received and Acacia was able to see me the next day after I called them. Dr. Matthews said he thought he could do a filling and if that didn't work he go down the root canal option. The filling was only $40 so I saved over $1000 and my tooth is still good a year later. I would highly I recommend Dr. Matthews for a first or second opinion. read more

I used to be afraid to go to the dentist before Dr. Mathews worked on my mouth. I chose Dr. Mathews because he had great reviews and was willing to bill both my insurances, which not all dentist are willing to do. I got several fillings and he made me very comfortable. The first two times I came to Acacia Dental I left very happy, infact I even left a 5 star review on Google that I have fixed after my last experience which was incredibly frustrating and was the most unprofessional interaction I have ever had with a medical or dental office. I received a phone call on Thursday May 30th confirming my appointment I pre scheduled (at the advice of the receptionist) for june 4th, 6 months ahead of time. Today now being june 4th I could not remember if it was 1 pm or 1:30 pm that I made the appointment. I called and was cheerfully greeted by a woman named Candy. I explained I need to see what time my appointment was for and she tells me I'm not on the books. I nicely told her I had been called and it was confirmed and was concerned about being charged for it. She said that everyone gets only one free miss and next one would be charged. I told her it was unfortunate to me that I loose my free-be due to their mistake and she says "oh i see hmm"completely ignoring my concern. After a frustrating conversation of her not listening to the fact I need Tuesday she finally comes to the conclusion she doesnt have ANYTHING on a Tuesday for the rest of the year and needs to put me on a cancellation list. At this point shes being incredibly passive agressive and rude and I agree to go on the list so i can get off the phone with her. After thinking about how poorly the conversation went I decided to call back and ask to be taken off their cancellation list and their paitnet listvall together. When I call back Candy answered again and very very happily took me off her list instead of trying to resolve any issues. She had the nerve to THANK me for doing this. I then started to thank her for happily negating the needs of one of their patients and she hung the phone up on me. Understand i was not yelling or cussing or even remotely raising my voice and this woman hung the phone up. Clearly I made the right decision. Unfortuently Dr. Matthews is not worth putting up with the quality of reception he employs. read more

The entire staff is amazing, he uses all the latest equipment, and best of all, the shots he gives for numbing the mouth do NOT hurt at all and I can't even feel them! Like most people, I'm never excited to go to the dentist. This changed when I started going to Acacia Dental. Dr. Matthews and his staff are in my opinion the best kept secret in the field. Appointments are always prompt, billing is easily handled up front with no surprises, staff is very friendly and Dr. Matthews himself is the best dentist I have ever been to. He clearly explains any expectation of pain you might be having during a procedure while talking you through every step of what he's doing. The office itself is clean, bright and easy to find. When I had a dental emergency a couple years ago - Dr. Matthews didn't hesitate to come in on his day off and check me out. Even though I moved about ten miles away I still drive to have all my work done at Acacia Dental. They deserve to be recognized as one of the best dental practices in the state. read more
