I have been going to Thomas & Roskos for years. Stephen Thomas is a kind and skilled dentist and I would highly recommend him.

I hadn't been to a dentist for at least 5 years. No one blinked an eye - they got me scheduled right away. Everyone there was very encouraging & professional. They fit me in last minute to pull a tooth and were the most pleasant people. Asked for estimate before I came in and was quoted @ $185 for molar extraction and $35 or $38 for exray plus a 5% cash discount. They tacked on $85 for exam halfway through the appt. so instead of the @ $200 I was expecting and quoted, it was $300. My tooth came out in under 10 seconds so this was a quick and easy job. I have to take off 2 stars for lack of transparency but everything else was 5 Star. read more

My wife and I have been patients of Drs Thomas and Roskos for over twenty years and during these two decades we have had experienced outstanding , professional and compassionate service! Case in point . My wife was having the most excruciating tooth and jaw pain for several nights. Last night the pain was unbearable and she was about to go to the ER. Would give less if I could. The first time I went to see Dr Roskos his young hygienist kept bouncing in and out of my room to talk to someone. She said that I needed to have plaque removed from all my teeth. I just had it done at another dentist so I know that wasn't true. I came back for a cleaning and I saw an older hygienist that was wonderful and she told me that I only had to have one tooth really cleaned due to the plaque. But the crown replacement was the worse. I have never had a more traumatizing experience at any dentist. After giving me 5 shots to make my mouth numb he finally got it numb enough to work on it. He finally got my old crown off and cleaned up the area so I thought. But he didn't tell me that I had an infection until I returned for the permanent crown. At that time, he called in an antibiotic after I told him that I had a funny taste in my mouth. He started giving me shots which didn't work. I ended up getting 13 shots and my face was all swollen. He left clear glue stuff in my gums which I picked out. Plus, a piece of my tooth in between my other tooth and the new crown. He was sloppy and didn't clean up my mouth correctly. He gave up and told me to take the antibiotic and come back in a week. He didn't understand why my mouth would not get numb. Well, when I got home I Googled that subject and it explained that if there is an infection the mouth will not get numb because of the PH balance. I told him for the next visit that I wanted to be put asleep so he called in 3 sleeping pills. I took all 3 and was asleep while he finished my crown. That crown was unable to be flossed and had a sharp edge that it kept zinging my other top teeth. I had to go to another dentist to get my bite worked on to a tune of $110. I believe that he damaged the tooth next to the crown so I have to write an appeal letter to my insurance company asking them to pay for the investigation. I now possibly have to get a new filling in the tooth next to the new crown. Plus, I might need to have a new crown on my own dime and time. This was by far the worst dental experience that I ever had, and it continues to plight me months later. He was supposed to give me a root canal and I paid extra for it so if he did then why does the crown still hurt? read more

Would give less if I could. My family has been seeing this dentist for over 20 years. I have never had a more traumatizing experience at a dentist. After giving me a deep filling (without informing me of nerve risks) my tooth ached for weeks until it cracked. When I returned, the dentist could not identify which tooth had cracked. He was abrasive during this painful investigation, which ended in me crying and being yelled at as if I was incompetent. It then took two months of visits for him to install a crown because he kept drilling holes into the permanent crown. On the third try, he just gave up and installed a crown with a hole in it without my knowledge. That crown was unable to be flossed and had a sharp edge, that then damaged the tooth next to it. Furthermore, the filling under my crown has air bubbles, which were exposed for a period of time when my temporary crown fell out, making infection a high risk. Again, this was never addressed. I now need to get two new fillings and a new crown on my own dime and time. I'm 26 and just barely becoming financially independent. My job requires me to travel so I have to take time off for appointments like this. This was 100% one of the worst medical experiences I've had, and it continues to plight me months later. I got a root canal from his poor fillings and spent 7 visits allowing him to damage my teeth further. You just lost our whole family's trust, who were clients through multiple decades. read more

I called this dentist's office at 7:30am with an emergency dental situation. I had a crown on one of my teeth that needed an emergency root canal, and I was in hell with the agony that had kept me up all night long. I was terrified to say the least. Without hesitation, they had me come in at 8am and assured they could squeeze me in. I came in to the office in tears, and grateful they would squeeze me in. I anticipated a bunch of wait time like I have with most offices, but right away, they got me back in, took the X-ray, and the dentist was in to give me shots to start numbing my mouth, and started right away. Not to mention, I was terrified because I was so nauseous from the pain and I hate those x-rays! The dental assistant went out of her way to help me stay relaxed and make it go as fast as possible. She gave me great advice and was so considerate of my circumstances. It was amazing. I saw Dr. Roskos who was HANDS DOWN the most considerate, empathetic, and skilled dentist I have ever met. He knew I was in debilitating pain and could see it through my watery eyes, and took such great care of me - telling me everything he was doing along the way and assuring me that it was going to be okay, and in fact, better than ever. He was fast, but very thorough. He never rushed me through my appointment and took the time to explain everything to me along the way. That alone relaxed my nerves more than I can describe. That was my first root canal, and when I left, if it was appropriate, I would have bear hugged him for his talent and demeanor. Him and his dental assistant were literal superheroes for me today. I have never been so well taken care of, and I will have everyone - and even my sweet mother - go nowhere else. You're in the best hands here at this office - and you will leave excited to come back! read more

I didn't last more than two years with this practice. My previous practice was recommended to me by a dental hygienist, and I was with them for over a decade. Immediately this practice did something the other practice had never done, try to sell me an expensive night time mouth guard. This gave me the willies, but I stayed. In my second year I heard something I had never heard at a dentist's office before, that eventually all of my fillings would need to be replaced. This was stated by the hygienist and was followed promptly by the doctor walking in who pointed to fillings he believed needed to be replaced. Never happened in the other practice. It felt VERY strange. That was my last visit. I thought for a long time about filing a complaint, but a second opinion, which did not contradict this practice's opinion, did not result in a complaint. My wife loves the practice, but she has spent a lot of money there. Caveat emptor. read more

I increasing dreaded visiting the dentist - even for cleanings. Ulcers that began in college, produced acid that eroded my teeth. They had lost nearly 30% of their length. The pulp in my teeth were exposed which created great pain to cold beverages, even cold air and especially a dentist visit. The front office girls are always happy - the back office give me a bad time (once they get to know you)....love them all. Dr. Johnson put together a treatment plan that included a whole upper and lower - lengthening my teeth, creating a white smile, and addressing the gum situation with upper periodontal surgery and lower orthodontia. (The other professionals he referred me to were the same high caliber) My 3 year journey - was worth it...I love to smile, look younger, and I wouldn't change a thing. I expressed every concern you could think of and every accommodation was made to ensure my peace of mind, physical comfort and high expectations were exceeded. He utilizes the most advanced technology and can create crowns in house if you prefer not to have temporaries (which I did for back teeth) and partners with top notch lab which I opted to use for my front teeth. Believe me to say I was high maintenance is an understatement - but both the dentist and his staff never made me feel that way. I am new to Arizona and decided to go with Yelp for help in finding a dentist and WOW! I found the dentist jackpot! I could not have been treated any better! The staff was amazing and told me all about the dentists and the history of the practice. A lot of them have been there 20+ years, which says alot. What really sold me was the dentist recommending that I didn't need any work done. I've had poor teeth since a child and have been no stranger to extensive dental work and have been to dentists who are "crown happy" the second you get in the chair. I love the dentist but there is one reception that I have a problem with she is rude has an attitude I dont have insurance been spending alot of money the doctor is helping me letting me make payments and told the receiption to and now she goes ahead and said your appointment is in three weeks and you need to pay it off by then ( after the doctor left the front) before getting it done thats not making payments now I got to push it off for 4 months I loved the old reception that was there I dont like this one changing dentist because of her until she is gone then consider going back back read more

I have visited Dr. Roskos' dental office several times and I am always so impressed with the friendly and courteous welcome I get from the reception staff as well as Dr. Roskos. The dental office has a relaxed, calming feel that helped me feel more comfortable and I really enjoy the beautiful artwork on the walls! I think the service provided for my dental care is top-notch and state-of-the-art. They even suggested some small cosmetic improvements which really made a big difference in my smile. I've been going to Dr. Thomas since I was a kid. I can't even remember seeing another dentist. My mom has also been going here for a long time and they have always made her feel comfortable. She has had so many problems with her teeth but the staff here will make you feel at ease no matter what your teeth look like. I took my mother to Drs. Roskos and Lentz for new dentures. Both doctors and their staff were exceptionally patient and caring throughout the entire process. They were very accommodating with my work schedule since the only time we could come in was late afternoon. I was very impressed by the doctors' professionalism with elderly patients and their skill. My mother required both new dentures and implants and she was fitted with minimal discomfort and pain. Both Dr's Steve (Thomas) and Roskos are the BEST EVER!!! Having just moved to the area I can not believe how lucky I was to find them!! They go out of their way to make sure their patients are happy. I recently had 6 crowns done, and Dr Steve surprised me by taking time out of his schedule to show up unexpectedly at the lab just to make sure everything was done exactly as I wanted. In the meantime I needed a root canal and Dr Roskos fit me in his schedule on the very same day. He worked so hard with my unexpected emergency, because he already had a full schedule. This is the best dentist office I have ever been to. To start, the girls in the front are amazingly nice and very good a what they do. I would never encourage anyone to show up late to their dentist appointment but if you do, don't worry, you won't walk into any smart remarks or condescending looks! Everyone is so nice and helpful (I felt really bad about showing late up too). So I go in the back and get less than good news from Dr. R. Calculus!!! Yes nasty plaque and calculus. So, I come back another day to meet with Susanne, the hygienist. This is where the real fun started. Not only was Susanne super gentle with my gums but you get to watch tv during the entire process! Yes, a deep cleaning and ESPN all at the same time. What more could you ask for? If you can request Susanne for your cleaning you'll be happy. My wife and I both were. Susanne grew up in a dentists office and knows her way around the old bicuspids. read more

Dr. Thomas is the best dentist. Dr. Roskos on the other hand is a total joke. He was supposed to simply replace a veneer with a temporary veneer when my dentist, Dr. Thomas was not in that day. Dr. Roskos took it upon himself, without saying a word, to make a crown instead which involved grinding down my (almost) perfectly good tooth which did not require a crown it only required replacing the porcelain veneer. He has no integrity. He is not a trustworthy person. read more
