Nine years ago I purchased my doctorate graduation ring from them. The ring was beautiful and came to mean a lot to me. A couple of months ago I sent it to them for some repairs. I have called numerous times to inquire about the status of my ring. Nobody answers the telephone. I have left numerous messages but I have not heard back from them. Called and spoke to Lynn who was extremely short and rude. She told me a white cap and gown would be available tomorrow but I had to go online to place an order, then call back with an order number. Now why does that make sense when a helpful employee would take my order over the phone, not sent me to a website. I go on their site to place the order, FYI the site is a mess and needs a SERIOUS revamp, and when I did not see an option for store pickup I called Lynn again and she told me I have to pay for shipping even though I'd be picking up from the store and that amount cannot be refunded. This company clearly has no knack for customer service and their systems need a TON of work. I planned to order a cap and gown for a photoshoot and a few weeks from now a large order for grads I work with through a non-profit. Our school placed an order for graduation sashes MONTHS ago and was promised delivery last week in time for our Senior awards ceremony. We left MANY messages for Emry over the course of several days...not one call back. Today is senior panorama picture day. Guess what...no sashes! When I called to see if they would arrive in time I was given the runaround and excuses and finally told to cancel my order because "I don't like doing business with people like you." Lynn, "the receptionist" was of no help...in fact, she didn't try to de-escalate the situation. Instead, she flamed the fire by saying "I'm just a receptionist, I can't control other people" when I asked to have Emry call me back! Absolute worst customer service. Prior to finding Academic Cap and Gown: I initially ordered 10 graduation gowns form Graduation Source. After 10 business days, I called them and they said they couldn't ship them until three more weeks. I found this unacceptable because the ceremony was in a week. I looked up Academic Cap and Gown on Yelp and their website. They seemed like a good choice. I gave them a call and they were extremely helpful. They said they would be able to process my order within the time I needed them. There was a $35 rush fee. Academic Cap and Gown processed the order so quickly. Their prices are fair. Overall, I would recommend them for your graduation needs. read more

This placed messed up my order for my son's announcements, they never called me back. I finally got to talk to the owner Mark...so rude I never have dealt with a business owner , who's customer service is so insulting. My son's announcements looked horrible, cheap paper, a picture of the school that looked like a photo copy, name cards trimmed in gold when the school color is silver. I know he knows who I am , but you know what this is the power of the internet..I can tell the world of the horrible service I received from him and his people that work for him. Grandson graduated from high school in June 2017. I decided to purchase his class ring for him as his graduation gift. I ordered and paid for it in late April. It is now December, and still no ring. This company has offered one excuse after another for the delay. Originally was told that it would be available in 10-12 weeks. Today I was told it wouldn't be available til the middle of January 2018. Imagine all those seniors who have yet to received their class rings and have been waiting for more than 7 months for them. I would not recommend that you do business with these people. Had to give them a "star" in order to post this review, but they don't really even deserve one star. Don't know why it is showing me in San Francisco, because I am in Southern California not far from this company. read more

I ordered a cap and tassel online from a different vendor for a graduation photo shoot (the ones from school hadn't come in yet), and I needed a rush delivery. The cap and tassel came in on time (2 days to spare), but the tassel was the wrong color. In a moment of desperation, the following morning I called every store I could think of that was close to me, including Aahs and Party City. None of them was carrying tassels yet. So I called Academic Cap and Gown hesitantly because Chatsworth is a bit of a hike. When I explained what I needed, the woman told me she would have the tassel ready for pick-up by 1pm. It was exactly what I needed, and I am so grateful they accommodated me on such short notice. Great customer service on this occasion. read more

I was here last Tuesday (May 28,2019) to get my daughter a cap and gown for her graduation. The only reason we went here was because of the yelp reviews, we didn't know it wasn't a regular store. So when we got there, the white lady at the front desk with long blonde hair was very rude to us, she didn't even ask us how we found out about the place. She said that we should have called first because they're not a store. I was surprised at how rude she was and I just told her that we really needed to get a cap and gown right away so she called somebody from the back office and the person agreed to help us. This Hispanic lady was a lot nicer than the other lady. She made us feel welcome and comfortable. After she got my daughter's size she went ahead and gave us the cap and gown right away and after I paid. I told her that the reason we went there was because of the yelp review, she was glad that there was a yelp review about their business. However, I told her that they should post in their website that this is not a store per se and people have to call first before going to their office. That was not specified on the website. Reason for my three stars was the rudeness of the white lady at the front office. If you plan on going to this place please call first and ask for Mary Gonzalez, she's really nice and helpful. read more

Caution, absolute horrible communication and business service in regards to class rings. After years of hard work we were waiting for a paid in full class ring and months and months went by with no ring or resolution despite numerous emails and calls. Currently engaged in action to recover our monetary loss. You worked too hard to trust this company with your class ring, advise others and look elsewhere. Company sends sales reps to local Los Angeles colleges and anyone else with same issue should advise their school. read more

I ordered a class ring from them and was told me it will be ready within 10-12 weeks. After 12 weeks I called them it was still not ready. I was told it will be ready in two weeks. I still did not get a called. When I called again, they said it still was not ready and it's still in the metal phase. They keep repeating that it's still in the same phase and not ready. After the 20 weeks I asked for a whole refund because I was disappointed my ring was not ready between 10-12 weeks. After 20 weeks when I asked for my refund it was still not ready. Be careful ordering class from them, you will be waiting a long long time to get your ring!!! Or not even get it. I paid in full for my ring, it should top priority in their instead it was the last. :( read more
